Ed007 I remember when we got beat by city and Celtic by PSG I tried to compare City to PSG and you shot me down saying PSG were the best in Europe. Feeling a little silly now eh?

Ings n things

{Ed007's Note - I have no idea what you're talking about and yes I do think PSG are the best team in Europe this year and it'll take a couple of great performances for anyone to stop them winning the CL. Until they meet or the CL is decided you're post doesn't really make much sense.}

1.) 16 Dec 2017 20:57:33
I'm not getting involved with the argument, but I can't see PSG winning the CL at all.

2.) 16 Dec 2017 21:14:51
PSG are indeed a great team they have arguably the best midfield in Europe as well as attack, it's all debatable but I also just cannot see them winning the CL. Their biggest test is Real Madrid, if they beat them then I'd change my opinion and would put them as potential winners. That game will be like a CL final, one would've imagined both PSG and RM in the final.

{Ed007's Note - I agree with that, it'll take someone like Real Madrid to beat them and even though they're not playing at their best this season they know how do win the CL. I wouldn't discount Bayern Munich stopping them if PSG get through Madrid and they meet again.}

3.) 16 Dec 2017 22:03:46
Yeah true, Bayern have that trait of upsetting teams pretty easily at times but I personally don't think they'd get past PSG to be honest with that team, any team will find it difficult to. The only advantage id say a team such as Real has over them is experience in the CL but PSG will be confident and to me do have the better team. I really see a City v PSG final if PSG get past Real, now that'd be an interesting one, I think PSG would do it though.

4.) 16 Dec 2017 23:31:26
Personally I don’t think either Real Madrid nor PSG nor Manchester City will will the Champions League this season. I think we’re all going to be surprised when we see the real winner this season.

5.) 16 Dec 2017 23:32:49
PSG is loaded and they will be there or thereabouts this season if they can do RM, which will be no easy task regardless oif their form domestically. They were poor in the last two seasons YET it did not stop them from winning the past two CL trophies back to back. It will be a great tie.

6.) 17 Dec 2017 02:07:59
For the CL I would say us, city or Munich.

15 Dec 2017 00:26:26
Ed1 a question if I may? As a Liverpool fan do you think we have had more than our fair share of bad luck and poor refereeing decisions this season? Apart from Migs not seeing red against Stoke it seems every big decision has gone against us starting with 2 offside goals against Watford in the opening day. We’ve had Mane sent off with 50% of people saying he shouldn’t but it went against us. Vardy’s Dive that led to a goal, Juanma fluking one of his knee, Willian fuming one into the top corner, Everton getting a penalty when their player jumps into Lovren, now Solanke’s ‘handball’. We even somehow had a penalty given against us at Brighton although it made no difference in the end.
I know you could give arguments that all of those are correct decisions but I think they could all have gone a different way on a different day with a different ref but this season they are all going against us.
99 times out of 100 Juanma’s goes out for a goal kick, Willian’s sails over the bar, De Gea’s inspector gadget leg doesn’t get to Matip’s shot.
I just feel that aside from City and Spurs the margins have been so tight and the big moments seem to have gone against us and it could’ve been so different had we just either got the luck or the decision in some of those games. Even the City game had Mane got a yellow we could still have won that game.
I don’t want to sound like I’m whinging, I’m not I actually normally think it evens itself out but this season it seems like we’ve run over a black cat or something.
What are you thoughts on it?

Ings n things

{Ed001's Note - naw I think we have been fairly lucky ourselves with some of the way the balls have bobbled through to our players etc. We just need to be better.}

1.) 15 Dec 2017 05:00:48
Agree Ed - we’ve had some good luck, some bad, leave the commentary around luck and refereeing decisions to Mourinho. Man City certainly isn’t complaining.

As Gary Player said, the harder I train, the luckier I get.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate, if the players have a problem they should work harder, not moan.}

2.) 15 Dec 2017 10:37:21
Spot on Grob and Ed. We just have to be better and keep working hard. Nothing is lost and had we won both games of late, nothing would have been sealed. Oh n btw, you can add Wenger to that list.

06 Dec 2017 21:56:53
All you idiots that were calling for Klopp’s head (Harry and the like) hang your heads in shame. Yes we will have bad spells and results but this team is on to something really special.

Ings n things

1.) 06 Dec 2017 22:08:05
Agree somewhat. BUT let's not use a good result to poke at each other. Let's just enjoy it!

If we'd lost 7-0, we wouldn't be happy if the glass half empty brigade came on here shouting their mouths off. I've been in your corner, and I love your positivity, Ings. Stay humble though buddy.

2.) 06 Dec 2017 22:15:52
Yeah am with mk there let's keep the positivity going ings without needing to call others idiots pal, but your entitled to be over joyed buddy.

3.) 06 Dec 2017 22:16:08
I can stay humble MK but it’s frustrating when our own fans can’t wait for us to lose so they can say I told you so. Harry is the worst culprit closely followed by Mr Dennis.
How many 7-0 or 7-1 scorelines do you see in the CL? Not many! And we’ve done it in 1 season! Just give Klopp time to get his players in defensively and we will be a force. We already are!

4.) 06 Dec 2017 22:28:47
100% with you there ings al say it agen we as good as any other team in Europe on our day, the speed and accuracy that we breakaway with is simply breathtaking mate.

5.) 06 Dec 2017 22:45:34
Opinions and frustration are often hard to contain on the back of a poor result. We are all on this journey together let's enjoy the good times which are all the sweeter for the bad ones experienced.

Onwards and upwards.

6.) 06 Dec 2017 23:17:28
I am definitely a glass half empty, I prefer realist. let's not go overboard. You don't want people coming on here after an average performance saying this and that. LFC were great today but its a very long season and most of the cracks are still there. The cracks are just not getting tested by the opposition at the moment.

01 Dec 2017 08:45:54
I actually started typing post on Wednesday about how unlucky we’ve been this season, which I think we have on the whole. Then Migs decides to take Diouf out when he’s clean through on goal and only gets a yellow. Hopefully that’s our luck turning I don’t know how he got away with it. Glad I didn’t send that post on Wednesday though I would’ve got hammered! 😂.

Ings n things

1.) 01 Dec 2017 09:00:01
To be fair we've had our fair share of bad luck this season so it is nice to be on the right end of a dodgy decision for a change. Though i don't think the ball went out for our first goal at all. The whole ball has to cross the line and it clearly didn't.

Still don't think that Mignolet decision makes up for the amount of stone wall penalties we've been denied this season or the amount of offside goals linesmen seem to allow past us!

Having said that, other teams fans probably think they're hard up too. It might just be a football fan thing 😂.

2.) 01 Dec 2017 10:16:12
Just double checked those figures after what happened yesterday and the exact numbers were 12 goals and 22 assists!

How many central/ box to box midfielders in world football contribute directly to 34 goals across 2 seasons?

I do agree though that unless he can prove his heel is fully recovered and rediscover that kind of form in his natural role, then he needs to be phased out or at least accept a lesser role in the squad.

It is a massive shame what injuries can do to players!

3.) 01 Dec 2017 12:11:05
MK, don't tell this to Hendo's detractors as they will throw a strop. They can't see all the stats you just mentioned there cos it is Hendo's. If those were the nos. of a player they liked, they would be yelling that said player should be signed. Now cos it's Hendo, they will all say, he passes sideways too much as if he's the only player to ever do that whereas stars like Xavi, Pep and Busquets made a career out of doing that.

I do agree with you that Hendo is trying to play his way out of injury, focus on his game and lead the team. It is clearly affecting him as he seems to not be able to accomplish any of those things right now. He needs support cos we know what he has done for us in the past BUT that is falling on deaf ears for many as tearing him down seems easier than lifting him up.

4.) 01 Dec 2017 12:34:09
It's sad how fickle fans can be BRover. 4 years ago Henderson getting suspended was almost universally accepted as a major factor in us losing the title. Yet, now he is apparently an average player who was never good enough 🤔 go figure.

5.) 01 Dec 2017 17:18:57
If his injury and fitness levels are hindering from playing well. Should he be captain and be picked to lead the charge. I surely don't think. so.

6.) 02 Dec 2017 13:41:25
That was four years ago, I’m sure we are allowed to comment when a players playing capability has declined
a considerable amount.
I know he’s carrying an injury and his playing isn’t great. But for us to challenge and be seen as ‘contenders’ we have to stop being so worried to piss of a player who has had one good season for us since he’s been here.
We play a lot better when Henderson doesn’t play. I personally think. He wouldn’t get into any of the top 10 clubs midfields let alone top 4.

26 Nov 2017 09:22:40
Am I being over critical here or should Migs have saved that last night? Especially considering he got a hand to it? I’m really not sure if we just highlight Migs because of his other errors or if that was poor goalkeeping again.

Ings n things

1.) 26 Nov 2017 10:04:24
Your being over critical mate.

2.) 26 Nov 2017 10:10:31
Was wondering the same thing i. e was it a case of a fluke goal that a top keeper would not have kept out anyway or not. Its hard to be objective considering migs' performance for us these past few years but at the same time, Im not sure he could do much. Was he too far to his left when willian got the ball?

just an observation, I thought migs on a number of games seems to be drawn to whichever side the ball is, whereas i think keepers like cech or courtois seem to stay more central. Then again I'm not a pro footballer so wouldn't know. Any former keepers or coaches can offer their take?

3.) 26 Nov 2017 10:43:27
If he was an inch taller he would have saved it.

Possibly if he got a slightly better leap he may have got to it with stronger fingers, but it was a pretty weird trajectory and he was trotting backwards. I don't think it was Migs fault as such, but still a soft goal whichever way you look at it.

4.) 26 Nov 2017 11:44:36
I'm a goalkeeper who's has been critical of migs over the years. But it's been harsh on him for that. Was a fluke goal and probably the only place he would have scored was in that top corner. Just got to take it on the chin 1 off goal. Think we needed fresher legs on the pitch a lot earlier to close the ball down quicker and for counter attack.

5.) 26 Nov 2017 13:34:53
Marius would save it.

6.) 26 Nov 2017 13:45:07
I think mignolets athleticism isn't the best, he is incredibly slow by foot and I think with a better jump he would have saved it - would have backed Karius too.

7.) 26 Nov 2017 14:09:20
Ward would catch it he dominates the box.

8.) 26 Nov 2017 15:06:22
Azk has just nailed it in the 2nd paragraph of his post. Migs gets drawn to the area the cross may be coming from which leaves him too much ground to cover when the cross does go to the back post. Already he has NO footwork nor athleticism (two areas where he is not a patch on Karius) to begin with, it is an impossible task. Look at the goal we concede vs Burnley and you will see the exact same thing. On the goal kick and the ball goes wide to TAA, Migs wonders to the edge of his 6 (for reasons I still don't get) leaving a huge gap on the other side. When the ball is won by Brady over TAA, he has to (again) shuffle back and when Arfield takes the shot, his feet are not set hence, has no chance to save the shot.

Same happened yesterday. Many GK would have recognized that Willian can't shoot from where he is as Klavan did his job well to force him far wide and no angle for a shot. Any GK would anticipate that a cross is coming hence, shuffle back to the center of the goal to get in position for a back post cross. Migs does not do that. The ball is crossed and he moves 2 steps (yeah two steps) and then leaps for the ball. He makes contact but not enough. Had he shuffled his feet quicker from the off, he would have saved that. It was a fluke goal I agree BUT a GK has to give himself every chance of saving a shot and Migs NEVER does that.

9.) 26 Nov 2017 15:08:07
Klavan was very slow, letting William go past him with ease, someone mentioned that Moreno could have done better, but he had I think Pedro out wide to keep an eye on,
just a lucky goal, Klopp needs to think about whether it was the right game to make so many changes, and next time to make his subs a bit earlier,
time to look at the next game, and 3 points .

10.) 26 Nov 2017 17:37:58
Happy, you are wrong. Willian was running at goal full speed and it was Klavan who got his arse out wide to force him wide and cut out the angle for a shot and left Willian with no other option BUT to hit a blind cross without any accuracy at all and without looking. Job done by him and the defence. I did not say that. Lampard and Rio said so on BT Sport are are they mugs as well?

Pls, enuff with always picking on the likes of Klavan, Hendo, Moreno as scapegoats as Klavan and the defence did NOTHING wrong on that play. It's getting old. Klavan was solid yesterday and the defence played solidly well and kept Hazard and Morata off the score sheet. The mindless scapegoating needs to stop.

Spoon and Ed2 I really think you are missing the point here. It wasn’t so much about Coutinho as about a statement to players and other teams that we won’t be held to ransom or bullied by other clubs.

Having just built a new stand and got back into the CL it just sends out the wrong message to the other players and to the world if we go and sell our best players again.

If we’d sold Couts then we give the green light to all the teams in Europe that they can cherry pick our best players. We also then tell all our best players that they can go if they kick up a bit of a stink.

We had no choice but to hold firm in my opinion for the good of the club as a whole.

{Ed002's Note - The players and other clubs are not interested in any “messages” the club sends out.}

Klopp will be here for years if he doesn’t get fed up with the moaners and leave. We all knew this was a long term project and that there will be ups and downs. This, ladies and gentlemen is a down. Stick with it and we’ll come out the other end better for it with a united club and fans and once Klopp gets the right players in a much better side. Keep going the way we are and he’ll leave and we’ll up the creek without a paddle. Anyone who thinks he wants to play the keeper and defence we have at the moment and can’t see their limitations is an idiot. Of course he can! He just hasn’t been able to get the right players in yet to change it. Sunday may force his hand though to try something different untill he can get the right players in.

I think crap is a bit harsh as you say Sami but I don’t know why people say he’s any better than Hendo. He has good games but doesn’t seem to have the discipline or tactical nouse to be a top player. That may come but for the moment he shouldn’t be in our first eleven when everyone’s fit. He will be a good player but not a great player. Good luck to the lad I hope it goes well for him.

The biggest game in the premier league between England's 2 most decorated clubs. It's a massive game as both teams are hugely supported worldwide so they are of course after the audience. I understand it but still don't think it's right that just because of our worldwide draw we get pushed from pillar to post. Could be worse though we could be a team no one wants to watch like you muppets!

{Ed025's Note - your right ings, but if we were on tv i would hate to think that "the peoples club" supporters would bawl their eyes out like 10 year old girls saying "why is it always us", "its not fair","boo hoo"..grow a set will ya mate..

I don't think he wants preferential treatment ed just to be treated the same as everyone else. There's no doubt it's a disadvantage to play early on the Saturday after an international break and we had it after the last International break so why make us do it again? So why put us at a disadvantage twice in a month when everyone else gets extra time to prepare? It's a valid point.
I can see why you don't care you'd have us playing on the Friday morning at 6am if you could but for us it doesn't seem fair.
Just because we are one of the biggest clubs in Europe and people want to see us play our games are moved to inconvenient times. But you just wouldn't understand that would you ;-)

{Ed025's Note - "were" one of the biggest seems more apt ings, because of the money sky are putting into the game they have the right to decide when clubs play, its a big game david at home to goliath and the target audience will be mainly asia, thats just the way it is im afraid mate..

Ed you can’t come onto a Liverpool page spouting your usual tripe about how great Chelsea are at everything and how Liverpool are lower than a snakes belly then get annoyed when Liverpool fans pull you up on it. I don’t pretend to know more than you, I don’t. I just think your views are massively skewed because you are a Chelsea fan and hate Liverpool and everything about Liverpool.
It’s ok though I haven’t got many nice things to say about Chelsea either. To me they are everything that’s wrong with football today. Each to their own though.

Ings n things

{Ed002's Note - I was asked by a poster whose sons are Chelsea supporters. I am not in any way biased. Chelsea's policy and execution of a loan system to gain experience for players works extremely well - there is no one denyiong that except you. Liverpool do not have such a policy. You raised Markovic not me - it is a prime example of how bad Liverpool are at dealing with loans. You raised Luis Alberton - he was sent on loan after the embarrassment of a court case and not to gain experience. And do you think Klopp did Danny Ward a favour by cancelling his loan and then not giving hjim a chance? Now he is third choice and has no future at Liverpool. I certainly don't "hate" Liverpool and have only ever written anything that is truthful. I have no idea what you know about Chelsea but it seems very little - the same is true of your knowledge of Liverpool. You are trolling posts again and making an embarrassment of yourself - it makes a lot more sense for the other posters if you don't visit the site any more. You are not interested in what is going on. You just want to wreck the posts of others.}

What I fail to understand in your answer ed is the fact that you talk about Chelsea’s loan system and say it works yet when Liverpool do the same thing with the likes of Luis Alberto, Markovic and the like we are ruining people’s careers. It would seem to me that you are showing a massive biase towards Chelsea who in my view pick players up and drop them like they are nothing.

Ings n things

{Ed002's Note - where is Markovic playing right now? How much did Liverpool pay for him? How much have Liverpool continued to pay a third party for him until recently? There is no bias, Chelsea have a well documented and understood system that sees the progress of loan players monitored and if they make the cut then they are integrated in to the squad. Liverpool don’t - it is a shambles that often sees no contact with the players whilst on loan. Grujic will get a loan to avoid him walking away for nothing. Markovic will leave or will walk away for nothing two weeks after the end of the season. And this is in addition to players who are already unsettled at the club. Klopp interfered with Ward’s loan leaving him in limbo now. You have no idea about what happens at Chelsea and spend too much of your time trying to pick holes in what I say. Clearly your knowledge of the game is about zip.}

He’d get into Chelsea’s team ahead of Alonso all day long Jim. He’s probably better than Young too and Delph too. When you look at it most of the top teams are struggling for left backs.

Just using Everton as an example as I know you can relate to it Ed. The same is true though of most teams in the Prem. He’s never going to be a world beater but he’s a good solid pro who can be very effective. Sometimes he isn’t but I don’t know any players in the world that play brilliantly every game.
