Easy to pick on Mane as he plays in a forward position, if robbo and hendo gave a 8/ 10 performance maybe he could've played better and I'm sure the penalty came from his shot.

HAJI

1.) 30 Aug 2021 01:47:30
I thought Mane played alright. He looked quick and lively. But it’s pretty hard to get through 7 defenders, that was high end bus parking there. Robertson and Henderson both looked rusty, on the plus side it’s one more point than last season.

2.) 30 Aug 2021 03:23:56
We are becoming more predictable. Teams are adapting to our tactics and closing the gaps when our flanks are pushing forward. Opponents break our press and lob the ball forward to counter - normally catching us off guard.

We need to really give our front-3 variabilities. At times, we need to really put a perfect ball or some magical move to score a goal. The unpredictability in the lineup will give opponents time to adapt. Elliot is one player that gives us the options.

3.) 30 Aug 2021 06:10:56
Klopp would have subbed Mane in the second half if he had better options on the bench. He definitely have a thought but then decided against it.

4.) 30 Aug 2021 07:05:15
Mane had no service.

5.) 30 Aug 2021 07:27:15
Robbo and Hendo are just coming back.
Mané doesn’t have that excuse
Firmino now out injured leaves who exactly as our back up to the front 3?
Minamino?
Origi?

6.) 30 Aug 2021 07:31:39
Great site this. At what point of the game did Klopp have this thought then Rocky? You should really use your mind reading powers to do good in the world.

7.) 30 Aug 2021 08:41:07
Rocky is the new sinwave. Sinwave was the new. Best to ignore these scenarios made from imagination which are then used to bash the club, coach and/ or players. You should be used to a certain poster's MO by now.

8.) 30 Aug 2021 08:52:10
63 minutes and 41 seconds in - you can clearly see Jurgen’s eyes light up.

My favourite in this thread is the idea of our front three being given variabilities. The poster also didn’t make any mention of the fact we couldn’t give them variabilites after half time as one of the four forwards had been taken off injured.

9.) 30 Aug 2021 08:55:55
Henderson is a Liverpool player and I support him but that doesn't deviate from the fact that he is probably just an above average midfielder in terms of playing ability but does have excellent leadership abilities.

He is far far away and cannot be put in the same bracket as Steven Gerrard, who had the ability to change a match on his own.

I'm neither a Henderson hater or Henderson lover but some people just seem to have blinkers when supporting the team and feels that all the players should be absolved of criticism.

10.) 30 Aug 2021 09:10:08
We just didn’t play well. Mane and Hendo were both poor along with most of the team. It’s early I am sure they will sort it out.

11.) 30 Aug 2021 09:20:11
I missed the game, but I read that Hendo played on the left hand side of the midfield. If he and Robbo were both rusty, it's bound to impact on mane's performance as he's on the left too. Plus, Chelsea were always playing for a point after the red card. Mane has been good in the first 2 games, people just using him as a scapegoat because he didn't have a great season last year.

12.) 30 Aug 2021 09:38:18
I was at the match Saturday and I don't know how people are given are players stick even before Chelsea went down to 10 men they was set up to defend. Chelsea have a lot of very good players and are very well organised they scored with a great header from a corner against the run of play and as city found out last season they are very hard to break down. For me they played like Burnley the week before with the new rule changes for this season it has evened the playing field up the last few seasons it has definitely favoured the attackers with fouls given for next to nothing this season its going to be harder to score with less pens and freekicks given to attacking players.
But to give Mane stick he had to get past 3 players most of the game. On the other side we had 3 player attacking with Salah Trent and Elliott all down that side. Mane did not have as much support Robbo did not get up as much as Trent and the Midfielders did not go over the like Elliott did on the right.

13.) 30 Aug 2021 10:02:59
Mane was doubled up on every occasion so that quick burst he uses to get past players was nullified. Few times he did get 1 on 1 he went past his man but chelsea still had 3 defenders in the box.

14.) 30 Aug 2021 10:16:32
We were playing one of the favourites for the title not some relegation cannon fodder. People need to get a grip if they tought we were going to demolish Chelsea.
Once they went down to 10 men they were playing a smash and grab game, with the players on their team to accomplish that.
Before they game I thought it would be a draw and having watched the game we could have very easily lost it to one of their breaks.
Glad to see that VvD kept Lukaku in his pocket all game and how Elliot showed glimpses of how good he will become.

15.) 30 Aug 2021 10:18:20
So if Mane was marked by 2 or 3 players and Elliot had a decent game, what happened to the bloody rest of them? VVD and Matip excluded.

16.) 30 Aug 2021 10:28:08
Doesn’t the opposition playing a good game have an impact upon how well our players can play. We weren’t at our best, a couple of players were underdone. We were playing an excellent team who are well managed. It happens, get ver it and move on - the level of over thinking is ridiculous.

17.) 30 Aug 2021 10:45:24
Man city have scored 1 goal in 3 games against this Chelsea lot. They have some of the best, organised defenders on the planet. Should we have done better yes, but the toy throwing on here is laughable.

18.) 30 Aug 2021 10:47:43
Some players weren't at it but sometimes you've to credit the opposition.

19.) 30 Aug 2021 10:58:02
I suppose Salah scores goalz, but he often escapes Mane-like criticism when in the same game he does jacksh*ep which is what Mane is being criticized for.

20.) 30 Aug 2021 11:04:57
What I don understand is the decision to start a rusty Robbo in a game of this magnitude instead of a very in form Kostas. No criticism of Robbo. Just a strange one for me.

21.) 30 Aug 2021 11:12:59
I wouldn't so as far as saying they have some of the best defenders on the planet, that's a bit much but they are set up very well and very difficult to break down.
I still think Liverpool should have tho, 45 minutes with a man extra, that's a long time and off course we are a top team with great players of our own. We seemed to slow the tempo down and played at a pace that suited Chelsea instead of doing the opposite.

22.) 30 Aug 2021 11:14:40
I love the criticism of people who obviously don’t understand the game. “We have not beat Chelsea, so everyone’s rubbish. ”
3 games in and 7 points, not too bad in my opinion.
I personally would have started with Kostas, Jota and probably Kieta myself as they are more up to speed, but I don’t get paid the big bucks and hindsight is great.

23.) 30 Aug 2021 11:25:58
Chelsea literally played with 7 defenders at any one time, with Mount and, until he was subbed off, Havertz also closing down in front of those defenders. Literally Kante/ Kovacic and Jorginho were playing no more than a few yards in front of the three centre backs (making it like playing through five centre backs) and there wing backs pulled as far back as possible, it was a total crowd scene! It is extremely difficult to play through that kind of defending, and either takes luck or an outrageous bit of skill.

Only other ways through are aerially or hitting long range thunderb*stards. Going long and aerial wasn’t an option as we’ve no one to aim at and the second would be difficult as their keeper looks pretty safe on long range efforts because of his size.

24.) 30 Aug 2021 11:37:46
Mane was poor no two ways about it. Nothing to do with service or anyone else lads. When was the last time he looked really electrifying and dangerous? Absolutely running defenders ragged? He hasn’t looked himself and has seemed lethargic for a while.

25.) 30 Aug 2021 12:20:59
Same old boring stuff on here, I guess. Some claiming to be in Klopp’s head and knowing what he would have done. Others claiming cos we didn’t win, meant that everyone is rubbish. Some unable to give the opposition (a formidable one at that) any credit for how they played and most of all, the usual suspects with axes to grind, slating their perennial targets for not having a good game cos clearly, that has never happened to a footballer prior to last Sat. Good Freaking Grief 🙄.

26.) 30 Aug 2021 13:17:15
I have to say, I was not impressed with Lukaku in his defensive midfield role.
I did think that going down to 10 men would not really affect Chelsea as Kante does the work of 2 men. I was really shocked when Tuchel subbed him at half time.
Even playing against 10 men teams need some luck to score goals.
Teams with ten men and no less likely to concede but they are less likely to score.
We still need that magician in the middle of the park, maybe it will be Harvey maybe we need to bring someone in?

{Ed001's Note - Kante was injured.}

27.) 30 Aug 2021 16:10:43
Again🤦‍♂️.

28.) 30 Aug 2021 16:41:52
Don’t see anything wrong with pointing out if you’ve been unimpressed with a player gents. No need to get ones knickers in a twist.

29.) 30 Aug 2021 17:35:59
Bledd85, IMO a lot of people are criticising the players with the inference that our season is doomed.

30.) 30 Aug 2021 18:19:33
I don’t understand how anyone can be critical of that performance. 3 games I’m playing like that was fantastic! I was utterly chuffed and enjoyed a great game of football. Of course there are always details to pick over but we were bloody brilliant . Come on you red men!

31.) 30 Aug 2021 20:45:21
We need to learn from that game, as it’s again given teams a blueprint on how to get something out of the game. We don’t appear to have learnt the lessons from Atletico in terms of dealing with teams who pack defences.

32.) 30 Aug 2021 21:49:38
I can’t speak for anyone else Rainbow but I’m certainly not implying our season is doomed. I just feel compared to the high standards Mane set not so long ago his recent performances have not been good enough.

He seems to have lost that flair and unpredictability that made him so dangerous. His finish against Burnley was great but his all round game has nose dived. In my opinion of course.

Some fans need to realise it’s ok to criticise our players it even if the team is doing well. It doesn’t mean they’re slating the club.

02 Aug 2018 19:56:35
Other than Oxlade I don't think Klopp has made late signings, we must be done as far as incomings are concerned.

HAJI

1.) 02 Aug 2018 20:06:28
We had a great window. There is zero need to panic buy anyone if the deal is not picture perfect deal for us.

Let's not forget Brewster will come back and will be looking for some game time.

2.) 02 Aug 2018 20:41:41
It's likely we are done because we've signed almost all we aimed to. Fekir was obviously a target but if the deal wasn't right there was no need to do it and there is certainly no need for us to sign somebody else instead.
His signing would probably have pushed someone out the door anyway. And although he would have been thought of as a sneak improvement. it would more than likely have been lallana or gini. 2 players I myself feel are more than capable and not the end of the world if they are in the team more often now.

3.) 02 Aug 2018 22:25:27
Lallana and Gino capable of what? Lallana has shown he can pull off moments of brilliance but it’s quite obvious he’s not exactly what we are looking for. All Gini has shown is that he can’t be bothered to break into a sweat for the team once he’s got comfortable.

4.) 03 Aug 2018 08:01:47
You either don't watch the games or you haven't got a clue about what you're seeing when you do watch. Whatever criticisms you can level at Wijnaldum, lack of effort isn't one of them.

5.) 03 Aug 2018 08:32:09
precisely, flash. that was a really lazy point - Gini covers as much ground as anyone.

6.) 03 Aug 2018 13:09:44
Gini has played ok for us. But klopps replaced him, so he couldn't of been that good.

7.) 03 Aug 2018 14:40:24
Gini played well consistently after February, but before that he was a ghost for 9 out of 10 games.

8.) 03 Aug 2018 18:03:29
We’ve had a fantastic window. Genuinely feel
This team can achieve things.

9.) 03 Aug 2018 23:39:08
We don't have a first team player that can be considered anything less than hard-working.

10.) 04 Aug 2018 12:36:17
The thing is every midfielder knows they have to perform as there is someone to replace them. It's call competition for places.
I hope gini stays.

Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch and Endo have 6 goal contributions already this season.

That's as many as Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Milner and Oxlade-Chamberlain got across the entirety of last season.

HAJI

1.) 27 Sep 2023 22:58:29
HAJI, last season's midfield was set up diff. to this one. This one has a lot more tchy ballers who can get forward and make things happen and still fulfill their defensive duties. Last season's was sitll stuck in the high press and covering ground, which they clearly could not do cos either the legs were gone or injuries started to take their toll. All in all, super happy with the production on the pitch from everyone, not just the midfielders.

2.) 27 Sep 2023 23:17:49
Itchy ballers?

I’m sure your dr can prescribe something for that.

3.) 27 Sep 2023 23:22:21
Oli with the exception of Fabinho all of those players were injured for the majority of last season. The lack of legs thing was massively overplayed it was injuries in the forward line and the midfield and you could even say the defence with Konate, Matip and VVD all having too much time on the treatment table last season.

It was proven when we got Konate fit, Jones came back and Bajcetic came in but more importantly we signed Gakpo and Jota and Diaz came back in. Suddenly results improved and we stopped conceding so many goals.

That being said I’m loving the new midfield and in Szobozlai we have a real talent. A top, top player. If he carries on the way he’s going he could be in the top 5 midfielders in world football.

4.) 28 Sep 2023 10:02:32
BP, I don't talk about injuries as some kind of reason anymore. I stopped doing that after the 20/ 21 season. Our team was not good enuff due to poor performances on the pitch, fatigue and poor decision making by the staff dating back to preseason and in the TW (only Darwin and Gakpo remain from the signings made last season) . If we got all that right then, the injuries would have been handled better IMO hence, I don't talk about them.

@Zed, damn typos. I meant to say techy ballers BUT I know for a fact they got itches to scratch, as well, lol.

05 May 2022 09:28:48
No effort in that shirt design at all.

HAJI

1.) 05 May 2022 10:03:21
I can still remember the white shirt with space invader pixels around the waist that New Balance served up. So honestly a plain red shirt doesn't even cone close to bothering me. At least it doesn't have a weird blue/ orange trim!

2.) 05 May 2022 10:53:02
Last year there was whining about the shirt. This year there is whining about the shirt. If you don't like it then don't buy it. Problem solved.

3.) 05 May 2022 11:03:44
Literally what Oh Mane Mane said. If you like it, buy it, if not don’t. Personally I can’t be arsed buying the new shirts, I wear an 85/ 86 adidas one. That will do me fine. As long as enough buy then to pump money into the club that’s all I care about.

4.) 05 May 2022 11:12:02
OMM, people whine about the new kits all the time. I'm over it.

5.) 05 May 2022 11:20:40
It's not that bad. Not the best but not the worst, either. What do you want? A Stella McCartney design or maybe Burberry? 😱.

6.) 05 May 2022 11:38:47
It’s not offensively ugly, which I am glad about because some of those warrior kits were abhorrent and some of the leaked concepts from the end of the New Balance era were horrifying as well.

However, they’ve literally put no effort in at all whatsoever. It’s basically a t shirt. There are people who are paid thousands to come up with these designs and yet Nike phone it in most of the time. It’s a real shame coming off the back of this years kit, which i think is excellent and something a bit different. I am all for green or orange trim as it makes us stand out! Template shirts have always been a thing, even some of our most revered designs have been templates, but come on now, that’s not even trying.

As for the ‘if you don’t like it don’t buy it’ comment, that’s just rather silly and not very clever. I doubt that the majority on this site are queueing up to buy the home shirt every year, but we’re still allowed to be annoyed about it. We have to watch the lads play in it for nine months and shirts are always a vital part of our history and mythology. Just because i’m not going to buy it for myself doesn’t mean i can’t expect better.

For the amount they get paid ‘Stella McCartney or Burberry’ is pretty much what i’m looking for yeah. It’s not rocket science, they managed to do a good job this year so we know they can make a half decent shirt when they put some effort in.

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps something floral for the summer?}

7.) 05 May 2022 11:44:17
Only point is from all the photos of the new kit taken, not one is salah.

Call me a cynic but surely you would have one of the main men in it?

Unless he is off of course 🕵️‍♀️.

{Ed0666's Note - excellent point.

8.) 05 May 2022 11:52:22
I always find the I can’t enjoy the game if the kit isn’t nice. The kit totally ruined our CL semi comeback against Barcelona if I’m honest. All I could think about was how much better the game would have been if we could have incorporate a little tartan motif.

9.) 05 May 2022 12:07:35
Yup. And let's add on small perfumed blister packs inside the shirts, that you can pop throughout the game, so that the players smell good throughout the game too. Chanel or Tom Ford sounds right to me.

(I remember Valentino designing the kits for both Inter Milan and AC Milan, like 25 years ago. I bought both and wore them for years and years) .

10.) 05 May 2022 12:22:08
Nowt wrong with a little bit of tartan in yer life WDW!

11.) 05 May 2022 12:38:52
I like it not because of the design the emblem or for that matter how it looks on some of the players or not I like it because there's a little badge on it that says LFC and that's enough for me.

12.) 05 May 2022 13:03:52
Wasn't a lover of this years kit I must admit but it's definitely grown on me. Can agree that not much effort has gone into the new design but also got to say I quite like it.

{Ed0666's Note - copy and paste kit zero effort. We live in a society where aesthetics matter to an extent because of IG, marketing et al. Make an effort people.

13.) 05 May 2022 13:09:52
I don't find it too bad. Love the 97 on the back instead if the 96 so i think I might buy it.

14.) 05 May 2022 13:11:54
I wouldn't read too much into salah or mane or Bobby or robbo or thiago not being in the shirt reveal video. I mean ox is in it for goodness sake.

15.) 05 May 2022 13:54:32
I like it. I find its simplicity refreshing. I wasn't a fan of last year's Christmas trimming or this year's orange zigzag.

16.) 05 May 2022 13:57:30
The trailer is cringe though.

17.) 05 May 2022 14:06:24
Klopp is in it after that I'm not too bothered.

18.) 05 May 2022 14:09:05
people complain it's too much design, then its not enough design, they don't like this they don't like that, yet LFC shirts are the highest selling in world football - Go figure?! Nike must be doing something right then.

19.) 05 May 2022 14:49:16
It's red. Isn't that all that really matters?

20.) 05 May 2022 15:42:37
As long as it sells millions and millions of shirts and makes Nike and Liverpool lots and lots of money I doubt they will be too concerned.

21.) 05 May 2022 16:31:22
Two whines I do have about kits are that 1 they used to be out every other season. I hate that they are out every season now, and 2 I remember when they would reduce the price of the tops to a tenner for the last month of the season that it was being used. Today the reduction in a shop I was in was from 70 quid to 50. No ta.

22.) 05 May 2022 17:39:26
Spot on MK and Baked Bean. It’s Red. With no weird colourings, stripes etc. if you want a laugh search for United will be wearing next season.

23.) 05 May 2022 20:24:22
I love the trailer. Connects the city, that color, and the club, perfectly together.

24.) 06 May 2022 09:51:51
Man Utd's home kit looks like the footie kit version of that game kids play, when they draw a head, fld the paper over, then someone else draws the neck;body;legs;feet.
Real mish-mash of designs going on.

04 May 2022 22:56:47
Man City bottled it, pep takes off de bruyne and mahrez, bit like klopp taking thiago and salah off which he wouldn't do, that's the difference.

HAJI

1.) 05 May 2022 02:01:07
Poor Man City, always the European bridesmaids never the bride. Pep Guardiola has lost six Champions League semi-finals, a joint record with Jose Mourinho
Ancellotti definitely got fortunate though. He has the kind of luck that Everton could do with right now if only they could attract managers of his calibre.

2.) 05 May 2022 06:54:21
I think Ancelotti contributed much to the mess at Everton
Those players he brought in seems useless now?

18 Mar 2022 12:15:06

2.) 05 Jun 2021 22:20:25
Ed 001, what about 3 centre backs with TAA and Robbo as Wing backs? Can we expect that?

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it, we struggle to keep one centre-back fit.}

3.) 06 Jun 2021 14:01:28
OES, we don’t even have the personnel to play the system so it is a non starter, IMO.

Salah and Firmino are the 2 highest paid players, wouldn't be a bad idea to cash in on them at the end of next season and have a front 3 of Mane Werner and Dembele (if the loan works out) need to build the next team soon so if Klopp does leave in 2024 he will leave a team at its peak.

Everyone forgetting how Martinelli was going past Trent every time he got the ball, we needed Bradley to come on. Trent will be destroyed at RB, if he starts it will have to be in midfield.
