I smell a gk merry go round this summer now Chelsea have announced they are not discussing a new contract with their gk. If we are going for a new gk we better keep it snappy or we may end up seeing our rivals sign up the gk targets we really want to see at lfc.

FatboyFatNotSlim

{Ed002's Note - It does not mean that they won't be, just that they are aware that Courtois wants to return to Spain where is young family is. Chelsea have taken the hint and have looked to someone as a replacement. That then puts them in to a stronger position - but you are right, it is likely more GKs looked to be likely to move at higher profile clubs this summer.}

1.) 31 May 2018 17:24:08
Chelsea may be able to offer more money to buy the player thanks to mr abramovich but I would think we could match them on wages.
Chelsea have pull of being London based which can be a consideration for players, but can’t offer CL football.
I would hope there’s still a good chance of getting a player to choose us over Chelsea, especially given there’s a degree of uncertainty over Conte’s future.

2.) 31 May 2018 17:46:34
Aren't Chelsea low on financial power with their new Stadium bills? Or is that different now that the plans are on hold?

{Ed002's Note - There is no uncertainty over Conte and no issues over money at all.}

3.) 31 May 2018 18:22:17
It's not just about Chelsea. There's a sea change in the way we are being perceived in the footballing landscape. A complete turnaround. Just look at the caliber of the players that we are being linked with now (whether the links are true or not is meaningless here) . And compare it with 3-4 years ago when our highlight of the summer was trying to get a Clint Dempsey (with Hendo added in) . There's a clear and definite change in the way LFC is being seen as a prospective club to play for.

4.) 31 May 2018 18:27:30
Ed, do you think .....

{Ed002's Note - Try the Chelsea page, this is the Liverpool page.}

5.) 31 May 2018 19:07:36
ArAr we've always been linked to big names, we just don't remember them cause nothing came off it. weather there is a chance of them signing is very relevant now. Luckily there definitely is more of a draw to play for Liverpool right now. Champions league football, the brand of football we play, klopp, and getting to 2 European finals I recent years will have helped.

Question for the eds. Do you see us trying to complete any business before the WC kicks off. Seeing as our transfer window closes 2 weeks before everyone else? Or do you see the summer window being even more frantic towards the deadline?

FatboyFatNotSlim

{Ed001's Note - I expect Premier League clubs to look to do business early, though it will no doubt be a frantic rush after the WC as well.}

1.) 23 Feb 2018 09:33:58
Morning Ed, I have been reading some of the midfield suggestions you have made and the type of players we might target. I understand the urgent need to liven up the midfield and bring the much needed energy. My worry is agains't teams like Spurs, and City they will pin us back at the end of games when we drop off and we still won't be able to control games.

I don't know as well how those type of players will help with the breaking down of the so called park the bus teams, Man U etc. In an ideal world you want the player to have great energy, awareness
and ability on the ball but that probably isn't possible. I think I slightly favour the more technically gifted player, we really need someone to to be able to control a game.

Maybe we could target both types of player for the midfield? But as we also need goals and assists from the midfield and the ability to cover the front 3 it is going to take some real quality recruitment (and plenty dosh) .

{Ed001's Note - Ndidi is very good on the ball and still young enough to improve.}

2.) 23 Feb 2018 10:25:34
ok thanks for the reply.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

3.) 23 Feb 2018 11:01:59
Ed am I right in thinking Ndidi is a player you have suggested and would like, and not a player we have shown any interest in yet mate?

{Ed001's Note - yes you are right. I wish we would go for him, but we have shown no interest.}

4.) 23 Feb 2018 12:29:58
Ed1 it's Gary Medel all over again haha.

{Ed001's Note - very much so.}

5.) 23 Feb 2018 12:48:32
Yes Ndidi!

6.) 23 Feb 2018 13:26:26
Thoughts on Kovacic/ Ceballos Ed1? And out of interest have we shown interest in Kovacic (I know we have Ceballos) . Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - not in Kovacic, who has not performed well since moving to Madrid. Ceballos we have, I am sceptical on him, never really impressed me as anything special. I have not seen a lot of him though, so I could have just missed what he offers.}

7.) 23 Feb 2018 13:43:43
Thanks for the reply Ed1. I would agree with you on Kovacic this season. When I saw some of the games he played in last season I thought he doing alright, just my opinion though and I didn't see every game he played in.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't see him much last season either, even while in Spain as the coverage of Real Madrid is just sickening out there. I am just relaying what I was told as to why our previously held interest has waned, rather than giving my opinion on him. Sorry I should have made that clear, my mistake. I normally try and make it clear when it is not my opinion, apologies.}

8.) 23 Feb 2018 13:57:28
No problem Ed1. Realistically it is hard to monitor firsthand every player we could be interested in so I guess we base some of our judgement on sources we trust.

{Ed001's Note - I used to try and make an effort to watch as many as I could, but these days I don't have time with all the research for the articles, as well as writing them.}

9.) 23 Feb 2018 13:58:42
If we're taking anyone from Madrid in my opinion it should be Asensio. The kid oozes class every time I watch him.

Keita and Henderson with Asensio in front of them behind our front 3, there would be no need to buy defenders we'd just score 10 a game.

{Ed001's Note - Klopp is one of many who would love to add him in the summer.}

10.) 23 Feb 2018 15:42:50
I'd take Asensio over Lemar, that kid has potential to win the Balon D'Or one day.

Can't really say its a poor result with hardly none of our big hitters playing in the second half. Sturridge did look sharp. But he always does when fit! Kloppy just had to talk up Pulisic but for 19 he does look tasty. anyways it's only a friendly.

After what I've just seen. i think I can forgive Karius.

1.) 21 Jun 2018 20:39:20
Modric has been epic.

2.) 21 Jun 2018 20:48:00
As has Messi. not!

3.) 21 Jun 2018 21:41:51
Every single time Ronaldo is asked to deliver on the biggest stage he does
Messi sadly does not
G. O. A. T out of these two, easy for me

RONALDO.

4.) 21 Jun 2018 22:11:01
John I don't remember Ronaldo doing anything in the last 2 world cups.

5.) 21 Jun 2018 22:37:44
Ronaldo is clearly aging better than Messi and I bet he is at the next world cup. But in their primes I think Messi just edges it, probably because he plays in a more exciting position.

6.) 22 Jun 2018 01:40:04
You can’t be “GOAT out of these 2”.
GOAT is GOAT and that honour stops with Maradona.

7.) 22 Jun 2018 05:40:38
And due to these 4 goals and counting he's gna end up getin the balon dor ahead of salah wich makes me sad.

Hopefully we can finish our ins before August as the window closes early. Our midfield already looks spicy with ox naby and fabby. not forgetting hen do who u do rate and gini is a good bench option IMO so I'd like him to stay. Really hope woody gets game time as he gives me a buzz (pun intended) . Wilson too although we need a quality bench to close the gap to city. After being in disbelief since Saturday I've calmed down but I still won't trust karius in the big games to not fumble unfortunately so if he stays it has to be as backup to a gk of higher calibre if the monies involved are viable for us ofcourse. I've liked the partnership lovvers and virgil have formed. So that new cb to start with virgil I don't think will be needed. Imo we are probably a few signings short of having a team that can really have a say in the league next season.

Not directly Liverpool related. But noticed Russia got a 22k fine for racist chants. I don't understand how they expect to irradicate racism with a fine like that. UEFA and FIFA are clearly taking the P.

FatboyFatNotSlim

1.) 08 May 2018 20:35:20
That 22k fine should eradicate the problem lol, anyone think it will end up being a s**t will world cup? Build up, excitement just isn't there this time round, not to mention there'll probably ufc fight nights after every game😂.

2.) 08 May 2018 21:22:38
England got a 35k fine for wearing poppies, Fifa need to sort it out big time.

3.) 08 May 2018 22:08:57
It doesn't do much except maybe give the Russian FA a kick up the backside to at least TRY and do something about it, once they get enough fines.
The only thing they can really do is have more security or cameras in place and perma ban the guilty parties. It won’t stop it in the foreseeable future that’s for sure :/.

4.) 08 May 2018 23:39:19
Russia have paid FIFA a lot of money not to be made an example of in legitimate World Cup fees. It's too late and I doubt they have the inclination to hand out any severe punishments at this stage.

5.) 09 May 2018 08:57:06
This is Russia guys. If the state weren't fine with them doing the chants, they wouldn't be doing them. It's really that simple.

Oh mercy any one seen what navas has done in goal. I'd rather keep migs than sign him. He's complete dog waste.

If grealish from villa can go for 40plus then 27 for origi is more than fair. We should really insert a sell on clause too.

I've heard of Kepa. Kepa tea? . all bad jokes aside he is young and quality I know Madrid were interested but for that fee it's a huge risk for someone who hasn't got a chance of dethroning DeGea.

It'll be like a new signing when he's back on the team sheet. Hopefully we deal with his recovery properly and it doesn't become a reason for him to retire early. Stay strong Oxo. As for Alisson. I'll wait until it's fully confirmed before I wet my pants prematurely lol.
