Hi Eds, enjoying your output in the silly pre-season before the window silly season. Will Woodburn be loaned out next season? My worry with him as regards making it to be a really great Liverpool player, is his lack of pace. He's unlikely to figure too much I'd have thought if we make 2-3 more signings.
{Ed001's Note - right now he is not set for a loan move, but that may change. A lot depends on what offers we get for him and if any would offer him the football he needs.}

Cheers Ed, what I expected I guess. Like all young players who show early promise you wanna see what they can actually do away from that crazy "he's amazing; he said awful" hyperbole we fans can get caught up in.
{Ed001's Note - agreed. However it only takes a few games where they are not looking amazing before fans are ready to give up and move on to the next bright young thing coming through, see Origi for an example.}

Thanks for the swift reply. It looks like we may miss out on all our rumoured 1st choice targets; Sessengnon; Kieta and Brandt? But I guess that's usual even for wealthier clubs?

It's not going to happen. It's painfully obvious we're short of quality at centre back (given that Lovren is too prone to brain farts, Klavan isn't good evolved the, Gomes is too raw and has suffered consecutive bad injuries and. We've no players in our u23 capable of stepping up), so it looks like we're going to either stick with what we've got (and struggle again) or waste money on the likes of Keane, since VVD will go to City or Chelsea.

If the choice was Keane, Gibson, Maguire or VVD he's miles better than all three of those and he's better than Lovren, Klavan and Gomes so it would be a setback.

Hi Eds, getting nervy out there it seems! If, as seems quite, not entirely likely, Phil goes and VVD doesn't come, it will be rightly considered a very bad window, with damaging implications to our ambition as a club added to that already done to our rep! But if those 2 transfers mentioned above happen/ don't. Do you see a last minute spending spree? Who the hell for I'd wonder?

Another question Ed (my boss has gone out so taking advantage) seeing as Kieta and VVD unlikely to happen this season, do you think we'll still get 2 in, in those positions? And is Ox the alternative to Kieta or was he in "addition" to Kieta?
{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely we will sign others instead of them, Ox is not really a direct alternative, Klopp would have liked both, but he is not going to just go and get a n other midfielder when the one he wants is not available. Unless another one with the right skillset is identified there will not be another. It is not likely this summer.}

Ed would you be more inclined to thinking klopp would have another central defender lined up? Keita seems to be a rare breed, there won't be many alternatives and we have decent midfielders as is. I don't see VVD as someone all that different to many other quality defenders out therearly so surely klopp could unearth another. Although before he was mentioned we all believed and accepted klopp was happy with our cbs.

A lot of conflicting stories re VVD and I tend to agree with Ed regarding Naby Keita. I do think though that we will look for another CB if VVD is not available. Looks like Gomez is off to Brighton on loan with a guarantee of first team football.

Tend to agree on VVD. Let's just hope that whatever way it ends up it doesn't get messy again. All dealings kept behind closed doors and only going ahead with it after Southampton accept he wants to join us. Unfortunately Southampton are highly unlikely to do that and it will probably take VVD to push through the deal.

You're probably more than aware Eds that several media outlets are claiming that we are likely to get VVD, as we are his preferred destination. Do you believe this to be the case? He's ridiculously over priced (as I know you've alluded too) but nevertheless feels like a coup.

Sad that we won't get to see him in our Red again, but it feels the right call, especially if the other 2 are coming in. His conduct has been disappointing but not by any means unique, I thank him for the good times and I'll applaud him when he's on the losing side in the CL decisive semi final 2nd leg!

What's the profit on him got to do with it? Plus maybe the club shld learn when you sell a star for lots of money (Suarez) they're not easy to replace and can be replaced by shite! I'd be looking to get Mane on a new contract with a HUGE exit clause!

Agree with Ed's. Firm is essential to the way Klopp wants to play; leads the press, can tackle; good movement and touch; plus, as Ed said, brings the other 2 in to it and creates space for them. He's an intelligent player and it takes an intelligent fan to see it.
