A friend just told me the Matip deal is done. Signed a pre-contract agreement. Not sure where he got that so though I'd check here. Is it true Eds?

Clarky5000

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware if he has signed a pre-contract or not at this time. Certainly Liverpool were keen that he did - perhaps they have upped their offer to make it happen?}

1.) 04 Feb 2016 00:23:34
Let's hope so he would be a good addition.

23 Dec 2015 13:05:05
Question for the Eds. If Grujic is to come in next summer, is it likely that either/or both Allen and Lucas may move on?

Also, whilst he looks like a decent young prospect, I'm worried that nothing will change and we will continue to speculate rather than going in for proven players.

Clarky5000

{Ed001's Note - Allen is very likely to leave, possibly in January.}

1.) 23 Dec 2015 13:52:32
Is Swansea the only option for Allen Ed? Personally I can't see anyone else taking a risk on a player who has failed to impress so consistently for a few seasons, unless of course it is at a minuscule fee?

{Ed001's Note - not the only one but the most likely.}

2.) 23 Dec 2015 18:43:52
I live in Swansea and all my mates follow the Swans, and none of them thinks Joe Allen is coming back to play here. Or at least they haven't heard anything not even rumours.

3.) 24 Dec 2015 05:58:45
The situation is that with Swansea being without a manager it is only likely to be a loan deal. Cutis knows the player well And he would add quality to the midfield. Strong rumour here is the swans want Shelvey out. Joe would be a great replacement.

4.) 24 Dec 2015 08:15:53
I know we do not mention money but would you have any idea what sort of fee a) we are looking for and b) what we can reasonably expect to get for Allen?

{Ed001's Note - no, it has no interest or relevance to me or any of us. We would need to know how much of the fee we would actually get after all the outgoings such as taxes, agent fees etc plus factor in the potential wage savings before we could possibly have anything of relevance.}

5.) 24 Dec 2015 08:33:38
Why want Shelvey out mate?

16 Oct 2015 23:02:49
I see Teixeira has travelled for the Spurs game. Is there a chance he's getting a run out?

Clarky5000

16 Jun 2015 23:38:53
What's the latest on Pounds Sterling? Any Eds have anything on where he'll end up? Or is it all still in the balance?

Clarky5000

{Ed001's Note - just waiting on someone to stump up enough now.}

1.) 17 Jun 2015 07:16:04
Is "Pounds Sterling" our own little version of "Cashley"?

2.) 17 Jun 2015 07:54:35
Will he go to citeh or chelski?

{Ed001's Note - Chelsea won't pay what we are asking, City might.}

3.) 17 Jun 2015 08:04:36
Can you see City making another offer Ed?

{Ed001's Note - possibly.}

4.) 17 Jun 2015 08:56:11
They will they will, everything just makes sense for him to go to Manchester Madīna (City). I'd say most clubs abroad that could afford him may have concerns over his maturity.

5.) 17 Jun 2015 11:28:12
I thought he wanted to join a London club and be closer to his family? Oh right. money it is then lol

17 Dec 2014 13:40:47
Hi eds.

A few media outlets are reporting today that we're going in for Bony in Jan. I could believe this, if we were to offload Borini and maybe Ballotelli. Guessing he'll cost more than we could have paid for him in the summer.

Can you shed any light on this?

Clarky5000

{Ed002's Note - I cannot see Swansea wanting to sell after Bony signed a new contract. And he will be off at the ACN.}

Klopp signed the extension :-)

Milner had yet another solid game tonight. Shocking, given how many people have deemed him not good enough.

Origi was deemed not good enough too. And Lovren and Sahko and so on.

So, how about we just get behind the players chosen to play until the gaffer decides they're not good enough? Ignore the bad and get behind the good.

Great win by the way.

Clarky5000

1.) 21 Apr 2016 00:31:11
In all serious Clarky none of them were good enough under Rodgers, it's the Klopp effect!

2.) 21 Apr 2016 01:54:28
None of them were good because BR was incompetent and was too busy trying to charm us all into believing he was a good manager, exactly what Martinez is doing now. There may be a Klopp effect but to me, there isn't. He's not a genius and doesn't claim to be one. He is an honest, hardworking coach who respects his players and truly wants them to succeed. Players and fans can relate to that and will support him all the way. That is the job of a coach, end of.

3.) 21 Apr 2016 04:45:00
That was not a hard game to look good in though. That performance by Milner reminded me of what he did at City at times. It just isn't often enough though. He is a good squad player, and useful on his day, but I don't think he is guaranteed starting material, or captain material.

Jordan Ibe's crosses and set pieces have been exceptional today. An area we often lack quality.

Ward is playing v well too.

Just got back from the game (ok I may have stopped off for a few celebratory drinks afterwards) and wow, just wow.

Anfield was electric. Can't believe what we just pulled off there.

Somehow, there were 6 Germans in the row in front of me. Brave too, as they were very vocal. They celebrated their goals a bit on the loud side. When their last goal went in they went mental, congratulating eachother on getting through to the semis. Ain't karma a bitch! :-)

That's up there with the best games I've ever been to. Hopefully we'll go on to lift the trophy so that game will mean much more too.

Evening reds.

Anybody else feel like a kid on Christmas Eve? I can't eat for the final tomorrow. Gutted I couldn't get tickets but I'll be enjoying in my cinema so not too bad.

Anyway, my questions to you all. Looking at the table, if we beat City in the league (and win our game in hand) we will only be 3 points off city. Am I the only person that hasn't given up hope of top 4? 3 points over 11 games isn't an impossible gap. (That said, West Ham got a tidy win today) . Still, I think a win tomorrow and a little run could push up towards that CL spot. Fully fit squad too.

Clarky5000

1.) 27 Feb 2016 20:22:42
Possibly, the problem is that there are / 4 teams ahead of us and all have to massively slip up and us not slip up at all for the to happen, all of which I doubt. This requires consitency, something we have missed all season long.

2.) 28 Feb 2016 08:41:53
We're on target for 74 points so definitely possible.

3.) 28 Feb 2016 09:26:55
We will be lucky to crack 60 points Ron.

I have to say, I think he's a top player albeit an inconsistent one. If Klopp can manage him in a way that brings out his top performances on a consistent basis then this should be a great piece of business.

That said, the main concern for me is where he fits in. We're very top heavy in this department now. Surely one of the established players is going. If not, I'm truly baffled.

Simple negotiating tactic. My guess is there's a stalemate over something. Agents releasing this kind of thing to the media is just them trying to tell the buying club that they aren't the only option for the player.

As stated above, I'm also sure he will be going.

I agree Gareth. Some people just like to run with the narrative given here. I don't here him slated outside of this site.

If you follow the BBC link to the star article (which itself was a rehash of an old foreign article) you see it was clearly written before we signed Karius but only just published. Bizarre.

Lallana can do a job out on the right. We have plenty that can play centrally to cover too.

I believe Spurs and Southampton are putting similar measures in place. Hopefully this will help us bring through players with the right mentality.

The team that beat Leicester deserve to start against Chelsea. (With the exception of Lucas who was brought in as injury cover, out of position) .

Coutinho is obviously a great player who will start the majority of games this year, but it will send others the wrong message if somebody is dropped for him.

Sturridge had a great game. Great movement off the ball, involved in a couple of goals and most importantly, his bursts of pace seemed to be back. He should 100% start again.

Say what you like about Flanno, but don't forget he's the reason we sold Jermaine Pennant and bought Igor Biscan.
