Ed do you know of any interest in Daniel Sturridge from around the world. I miss seeing him kick a football to be honest….

BigVirg

{Ed0666's Note - He spends a tonne of time in LA producing his music and is keeping in shape in the hope of getting a contract. I would hazard a guess his top flight career is over. Lower ranking MLS or Championship team at best. Jeez Louise what a world class striker when fit and firing on all cylinders. Love the guy for the respect he shows our club to this day.

1.) 17 Jun 2021 20:02:12
Fair play, hope he gets in somewhere, MLS would be a good idea tbf. He's always been a class lad and was gutted he got injured. I still remember that 90 minute goal Vs Chelsea a few years ago.

{Ed025's Note - waste of space if you ask me, absolute piss taker in his last few seasons and spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch RH..

2.) 17 Jun 2021 20:05:01
100% Ed!

3.) 17 Jun 2021 20:12:24
He should try to get a move to one of the LA sides. They tend to be given a tonne more coverage in the American general media than the other MLS sides do so it could be good publicity for his music over there in the future. Probably couldn't expect to be a designated player though.

I have a personal theory that the reason Zlatan went to LA Galaxy because he wants to be in movies in the future.

4.) 17 Jun 2021 21:35:46
I agree with you most of the times ed025. This is one time I wish I didn’t. So much potential he had. Amazing threat when he wanted to be.

{Ed025's Note - no doubting his ability mate, but could have been so much better if he had a heart or the desire....but he never..

5.) 18 Jun 2021 09:48:36
What could have been eh. Fantastic talent.

6.) 18 Jun 2021 11:56:35
Injuries clearly didn’t help and held him back but in his last couple of seasons he was a joke, he put in less effort than Ballotelli at times.

{Ed0666's Note - He was a bit of a hperchondriac but some of the abuse of him is unwarranted. Maybe he didn’t always give 100% due to him thinking his body was gonna breakdown but he was always loyal and respectful.

7.) 18 Jun 2021 14:53:00
You can’t compare Sturridge to Balotelli, that’s not fair. Balotelli never did anything in a Liverpool shirt to remotely suggest he was a footballer. Sturridge had a horrendous time with injury.

8.) 18 Jun 2021 15:08:38
Certainly wouldn't compare him to that joke overgrown baby Balotelli! Even at his least effective Sturridge was in a different league to that clown.

9.) 18 Jun 2021 19:11:11
Comparing him to balotelli is just idiotic. Did you even watch both players?

10.) 19 Jun 2021 13:11:06
I haven’t said they're the same in terms of quality and what they did at the club as Sturridge was great in his first few seasons but the last few he was woeful and his effort levels were none existent. Maybe it was based on his fragile body but if he wasn’t up to it he shouldn’t have been on the pitch. He’d just let balls go by him if he thought he couldn’t get to them, chased nothing, I barely saw him sprint. Exactly what Ballotelli did.
Also saying he was respectful and loyal I would say should be a given with any player (although often not the case), especially one who was nearly always injured, contributed next to nothing to the team in his last 2/ 3 seasons and was on a big wage that wouldn’t have been matched if he moved on.

{Ed0666's Note - there is no evidence to suggest he was a bottler. If I saw Studge in LA I’d go over and give him a hug I’m not so sure I’d do the same with Naby or Balotelli.

11.) 19 Jun 2021 13:30:01
Are you allowed to hug strangers in LA? You’d get told off for doing that here!

12.) 21 Jun 2021 00:43:26
Oh God Ed0666 imagine we got a player called Naby Balotelli😭.

{Ed0666's Note - then I’d hug the top half and leave you to the bottom…half 😂

10 Jun 2021 10:16:58
Linked with Pedri, for £70m. I think we must have found a money tree in Stanley Park last night. Ed, reports of contact being made, nonsense I guess?

BigVirg

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have turned down a significant bid from elsewhere. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

1.) 10 Jun 2021 17:53:27
No way Barcelona sell Pedri. Got loads of deadwood to get rid of besides him. Great player though. Would assume they will be building their team around him and Fati.

2.) 10 Jun 2021 18:05:23
Waits for the Ed do they not owe is us money from the pipco deal 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣.

3.) 10 Jun 2021 23:23:31
Pretty sure at this point Barcelona owe me money for the Coutinho deal.

{Ed002's Note - When Pipco was sold Liverpool borrowed the entire debt and spent it - and paid significant interest and will have to repay any sums that are not going to be paid - £5M if sold this summer.}

4.) 11 Jun 2021 00:25:38
Thanks Ed, I guess is that common knowledge or publically available what you just said or is that what you have found out independently?

Just curious because that’s a crazy thing to know.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained it over and over since it happened.}

5.) 11 Jun 2021 07:35:33
Me too Thunderbird, me too.

6.) 11 Jun 2021 07:57:02
Southern Red, it’s been stated in Barcelona’s financial account for at least 2 years now so why the media insist on recycling the story every few weeks I don’t know. Whatever happened to research….

7.) 11 Jun 2021 10:46:45
The details of the Coutinho deal (and the fact that Barcelona do not owe LFC directly any money) have been posted here, at least 20 times. And 1 out of 20 media outlets has published the right details (LFC factoring the Coutinho sale) too. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack, when you go looking for accurate news.

8.) 11 Jun 2021 11:41:23
More like looking for hay in a needle-stack actually. Because it's painful reading some of the nonsense "journalists" and "pundits" come out with today.

9.) 11 Jun 2021 12:41:32
Johnny my comment was specifically around interest and penalties for outstanding sums, I am aware of the factored portion that was shown in our financial statement.

28 Apr 2021 12:41:20
Linked with Callum Elder in the papers. Embarrassing that a club as big as Liverpool should be linked to a young left back from Hull!

BigVirg

1.) 28 Apr 2021 13:06:54
Worked out horribly last time ;)

2.) 28 Apr 2021 13:13:28
Careful there, it's hard to detect sarcasm.

3.) 28 Apr 2021 13:25:45
Ha ha ha
Love that BigVirg.

4.) 28 Apr 2021 13:43:20
:D :D

I'm sure there's plenty who won't get the humour, BigVirg!

5.) 28 Apr 2021 13:46:09
This can't be real unless they plan on only playing him in cup games.

6.) 28 Apr 2021 13:54:23
where did Andy Robertson come from? just saying,

and he would be home grown.

7.) 28 Apr 2021 14:19:16
He's 26, not exactly young. For reference, Robbo himself is 27.

8.) 29 Apr 2021 12:42:49
He’s no Bozo Texino. Not even a Snoogy Doogie.

9.) 29 Apr 2021 14:49:52
Robbo had PL experience. Elder was a regular for one season in the Championship before going to League One. This rumour seems like nonsense.

01 Feb 2021 21:46:53
Minamino to Southampton. Good move IMO, hasn’t had a chance at us and will learn the premier league more in a good attacking side.

BigVirg

1.) 01 Feb 2021 21:54:51
Would much rather have him than Origi.
Know he didn't cost much but I just feel like if he goes now then he'll likely move on for good in the summer which is a shame.
I like the guy!

2.) 01 Feb 2021 21:56:44
Does this explain why he hasn't had a look in recently? Trying to avoid injury if a loan was on the cards. Hope he does well.

3.) 01 Feb 2021 22:01:23
Yeah could be good for the lad. if he actually gets a game for the saints. Not convinced by what little we've seen of him, but hopefully he proves me wrong and comes back more confident and hungry.

4.) 01 Feb 2021 22:02:49
How he's fallen behind Div and the ghost that is Shaq i don't know. Sometimes i think we buy to sell for a profit, after a little improvement .

5.) 01 Feb 2021 22:04:04
Hopefully goes a little bit towards repairing our relationship with our feeder club as well.

6.) 01 Feb 2021 22:21:55
It would be nice to get some of those billions back we spent on Southampton players of the last few years.

7.) 01 Feb 2021 22:24:39
The ghost that is Shaq? I completely agree on Origis case but Shaq?

8.) 01 Feb 2021 22:28:55
No brainer if someone was interested, especially a team like Southampton. Feel good factor around them at the minute, good football and will be interesting to see how he links with ings. Guaranteed games I expect and he should come back stronger.
Club must be confident jota isn't too far away where he'd fall even further down the pecking order.
Plus any sort of loan fee will go towards our outlay. Smart business all round I think.

9.) 02 Feb 2021 08:02:37
Wish i could pass cross field like a ghost.

10.) 02 Feb 2021 11:17:35
Ya Shaq is going through a good patch at the moment. He has looked lively and been creative, not amazing or anything but he has been playing well.

What’s everyone’s opinion on the amount of 1-0s in the AFCON, 10 out of 14 games have finished that score! Insane.

BigVirg

1.) 14 Jan 2022 03:28:14
Didn't one game finish on the 85th minute? xD.

2.) 14 Jan 2022 04:38:17
The competition is a crock of rubbish and disrupts the season.

3.) 14 Jan 2022 09:20:18
shughes55, calling a FIFA sanctioned comp. a crock of rubbish just cos it hurts your feelings is a disgrace. Pls, show some respect to the AFCON, man. It does not disrupt the season cos it was scheduled in this time as most leagues are on a Winter Break. This has been the case for 30 years now so if the PL doesn't have a winter break, how is that the organizers problem? Maybe you should petition the PL to not allow clubs to sign African players as that wouldn't "disrupt" the season.

4.) 14 Jan 2022 09:51:08
Spot on Oli.

5.) 14 Jan 2022 09:58:21
I’d hate to support a team in a league that has a 6 week winter break.

Although I think we could do with a 6 week break now 🙄😜.

6.) 14 Jan 2022 12:13:08
JK23, The Winter break has been reduced over the years due to fixture congestion in the top 5 leagues in Europe. It's prolly down to just 10 days to 2 weeks now. So I 'm pretty sure you can hold out for that long, buddy.

7.) 17 Jan 2022 06:02:56
Oli I stick by my comments, I’m entitled to an opinion, as you are, that is what this forum is all about is it not!

14 Sep 2021 15:14:55
Ed’s, seen a lot of stories saying that Liverpool are talking to Haalands agent and are looking to sign next summer. I’m just wondering if this is even a possibility and will our financial situation be more positive then? Or is Haaland destined for Munich, Chelsea or Madrid?

BigVirg

{Ed002's Note - I anm not aware of any direct approach to buy and the pay the player from Liverpool. I ASM sure they would like to.}

1.) 14 Sep 2021 22:20:48
Haaland will never play for us, I can say that with absolute certainty.

2.) 15 Sep 2021 00:51:33
The only thing you can say with certainty is that you have we all have an arse hole my friend! Who knows what the future holds.

3.) 15 Sep 2021 02:16:48
Like Benjamin Franklin said the only things that are certain are ‘death and taxes’, and, of course, people going mental about signing Bissouma in the January transfer window.

{Ed0666's Note - like my wife said ‘stop editing on that silly website and watch the bachelorette with me’

4.) 15 Sep 2021 06:39:49
I imagine his agent is talking to everyone. And every time he talks to them it’s like a live auction with the costs rising each time.

{Ed025's Note - yeah JK, him and DCL are the hottest properties on the planet mate, which one turns out to be the best is a tough one to call..

5.) 15 Sep 2021 08:07:50
The level of delusion to remotely think our owners would ever sanction a buy like Haaland or Mbappr is staggering. It’s NEVER going to happen. Firstly, the bloke wants £800’000 a week. His agent wants a £40’000’000 fee and that’s without even going into the transfer fee it’s going to take to buy him. He’s going to City or Madrid.

6.) 15 Sep 2021 12:24:50
VVVV had you dozed off when we paid world record fees for a goalkeeper and a centre back?

The owners spend when it is required. We didn’t spend much a mere £ 35 million) because our revenue stream dried up with C.V..

If we challenge for / win the PL and / or CL this season (and, as an aside, I have a feeling we will win one of them) then with the revenue stream restored and the potential revenue generated by merchandising opportunities, plus one or two sales I would suspect that there would be very few players, if any, outside the club’s reach.

Whether or not the players would want to come is a different matter ….

7.) 15 Sep 2021 13:50:13
Paying a world record fee for a goal keeper is one thing. Paying that fee plus more on wages is something else. Never going to happen.

8.) 15 Sep 2021 21:46:52
Would you have thought we would have paid the most money for a goalkeeper or CBC a year to two before we bought them though?

It’s a business Irish, if FSG seem a player as a worthwhile asset - particularly a decent profit from resale then it is not off the table.

If we are an attractive proposition for a player (wages plus a chance to win things) we are in with a shout.

Just my opinion.

25 Aug 2021 13:49:22
All the talk of Coutinho loan coming in got me thinking. What is everyone’s opinion on Liverpool’s greatest ever loan signing? Can’t think of many successes apart from maybe Anelka? Or was Masch signed on loan before signing permanent?

BigVirg

1.) 25 Aug 2021 13:56:09
The great Aly Cissokho of course!

2.) 25 Aug 2021 14:03:20
Kabak loan was quite successful. Not just him as a player but as a whole scenario. It eventually allowed Fab to move back into midfield and Phillips play alongside him. Without Kabak playing his part maybe Fab would have stayed at centre half for the last 10 games and we wouldn’t be in the CL draw tomorrow. Thus it could have been a very different window this summer with us holding onto players.

3.) 25 Aug 2021 14:21:32
Honestly can’t think of a decent loan to us, Anelka is the only one that comes to mind but we still didn’t sign him.

4.) 25 Aug 2021 14:46:25
Mascherano.

5.) 25 Aug 2021 14:49:41
The one that comes to mind from recent times, which had potential in the beginning, is Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid. But that too, like most, fizzled out.

6.) 25 Aug 2021 16:07:17
Stevie Caulker, obviously.

7.) 25 Aug 2021 17:16:47
Ronnie Rosenthal. 7 goals in 8 appearances and helped win the league.

16 Jul 2021 12:55:46
Ed001, have you done any articles on Puskas or plan to atall? I have just heard he turned out for South Liverpool for a game and had an astonishing goal to game ratio. I feel I should know a lot more about him than I do!

BigVirg

{Ed001's Note - like this one or his player profile?}

1.) 16 Jul 2021 15:24:26
Lovely stuff, will dive in.

2.) 17 Jul 2021 08:51:55
Very sad reading about his later days. When you already think Madrid are scumbags and then read about their Puskas “fundraiser”!

18 Jun 2021 20:10:02
Ed, your post about Messi earlier got me thinking, was there a player in the 70s or 80s around Europe who had the pull of power that Messi had at their club where they virtually made decisions on signings and style of play. One that comes to mind is maybe Maradona at Napoli? Or was football back then a lot stronger with their hierarchy as not as much money in the game?

BigVirg

{Ed001's Note - players had a lot less power then.}

Sancho wasn’t a sub Ed, he started 24, 25 and 26 league games out of 34 in his previous 3 years.

BigVirg

{Ed001's Note - most of the times I watched them he started on the bench. The few times I did see him start I saw immediately why he didn't start every game - he wasn't good enough.}

You can’t just sell every player who isn’t playing 30+ games a season. Kostas seems really happy at the club. I doubt we value him at £8m as Ed suggested. Outrageous figures.

They’re the best side I’ve seen come to Anfield and pass the ball since Man City. Their passing triangles were like a training exercise. We have done brilliant to get past them, quite comfortably as well. We could have scored 5/ 6 over the two legs.
