Liverpool were by far the better team. But for two minutes and the second a lucky deflection, Liverpool deserved the lead. So certainly not outclassed.
The passing was excellent by Liverpool and poor in large chunks by united.
Were Liverpool really fall down is attacking quality. Take Suarez and Sturridge out and there is not a figurehead. Lambert looked like a bit of a plodder. After he went off we didn't have a recognised striker. I think this may be the problem with 4-3-3.
United only looked better when they ran at us due to the quality of Rooney, Hernandez and mata. Those two minutes won the game and hugely flattered them.
Hopefully the Liverpool hierarchy will realise that we need a top draw striker at the club.
Coutinho, Henderson and sterling all look like they could make a step up this season. Sakho looked solid for the most part. Add to that Lovren( for skirtel), llama( for Allen), Moreno( for Kelly), Sturridge( for lambert) and you will have a better team. Markovic and Can have both looked promising in the small bits I have seen them play.
It really is that top draw striker that we need. Any team would miss the loss of the want away Suarez and the injury prone Sturrudge. This is not Liverpool's or Rodgers fault. However Liverpool need to be proactive in remedying the problem. Time to hit those rumour sites with fingers crossed!

Can't blame Suarez for wanting to play for Barça. Especially as a Spanish speaker. Owen, lineker, macmanaman, rush and souness all wanted similar( not forgetting Sammy lee at osasuna too).
Ayre and FSG have done well in negotiating the new contract in December to ensure that we get 75 million pounds for a player who will be 28 next time he kicks a ball in anger.
Keegan went and we got dalglish
Torres went and we got Suarez( and, ahem, Carroll)
Rush went and we got Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and houghton. ( not too dissimilar to lazer, llama, lambert and can).
All t'best
