The Guardian say we're looking at Robin Olsen as an alternative to Allison and Oblak. Any truth to this? Guardian used to be quite reliable, but not really these days, right?

Would love a fellow Swede on the team, not sure Olsen is the one. Solid guy overall, but not that good with his feet. Pretty good with crosses- would be nice for a change.

We are linked with a new player every day. I doubt there is much truth in any of these players. But if you throw enough mud at a wall eventually some will stick and 1 of these papers will claim to be in the know.

2.) 13 Jun 2018 23:27:23
The Guardian are not reporting this at all, they run a roundup of transfer rumours every day, this was one of today’s rumours.

3.) 13 Jun 2018 23:29:40
The words "newspaper" and "reliable" don't belong in the same sentence. Newspapers don't care if what they print is true or total and utter bollocks, as long as it generates sales/ clicks.
Before the summer is out we will probably be linked with 60-100 players and maybe actually sign 3 or 4. Amazing how many people read and digest it before coming on here to query its validity.

4.) 14 Jun 2018 08:57:11
It is a rumours site flash lol.

5.) 14 Jun 2018 09:24:11
The usual crap then. Olsen is just another somewhat random guy linked. Like Cillesen, Pope and the rest.

6.) 14 Jun 2018 18:38:12
True enough Redhof, but there's rumours and there's just utter made up bollocks to generate clicks. Most of the latter are relatively easy to eke out for someone with a couple of brain cells.

So Marca says we and Arsenal are going after Lucas Vazquez. No numbers quoted. Anyone (Eds) know if we hold a real interest in him? There was some talk of him on this site a few weeks ago, as an option should the Fekir deal fall through.

Seems a bit more realistic target than Asensio to me. And since Marca is RMs.

Terrible player and for the £50m+ they want for him it would be a rip off. Antonio Nunes mk2.

2.) 01 Jul 2018 13:37:25
Btw he’s not even close to the kind of player that Fekir is. He’s a very one dimensional winger without any exceptional skill or pace.

3.) 01 Jul 2018 14:43:50
LV is a decent player and would be a good option to rotate with our wide players.

Wouldn’t fill the PC hole in midfield though.

4.) 01 Jul 2018 15:31:32
I was on the understanding our Vazquez interest was as a winger option and not related to Fekir or our AM target?

5.) 01 Jul 2018 16:12:31
Have to disagree that he would be a decent option. His buyout is ridiculous and Madrid will want a stupid fee, which for a rotation player is not sensible. No better than Nunez in my honest opinion.

6.) 01 Jul 2018 17:48:52
I would love us to sign Vazquez. Just not sure he would come to be back up/ rotation with Salah or Mane🤔.

7.) 01 Jul 2018 18:04:28
He’s not a match changer by any stretch and lacks any tangible quality, he is very ordinary at best. He has a ridiculous release clause and Madrid are expecting to mug someone of the thick end of £40-50m, and there are plenty of better players around than a Madrid bench warmer for less if we are looking at cover.

8.) 02 Jul 2018 11:01:16
Why would Vasquez leave Real Madrid where he is a dedicated backup to join Liverpool where he would be a dedicated backup? Surely if he wanted to, or was being forced to, leave Real he would be looking for a move where he would get the first choice game time.

So Real are playing diamond. Couldn't be happier- think we do well vs narrower teams but worse vs wider teams.

Vida- the clumsier version of Lovren. Don't see a player there, think Dejan carried him at times. Hope we stay away.

No way. A clumsier version of Lovren is not what we need.

Interesting this stuff about Ward. Haven't seen much of him, but what I saw made me think he is better on crosses tha Ming and Kar, looked calmer too. Decent shot stopper aswell. How is his distribution and feet?

So we can't get everyone we want. I can see the Shaqiri deal freeing up funds toward a high end goalkeeper. Fine by me if that is the case. Rather have Shaqiri and Strakosha than say Gelson Martines and Cillessen.

Özil, Salah? Would you play him over Mané? In a 442 diamond he might get the nod, but I like pace&trickery too much to not have Sadio there.

Maybe a 4231 could accomodate Özil, but, nah.

In a combined Liv-Ars team only Bellerin and maybe Koscielny would get a shirt. They probably will get a top 6 place, but could also end up 7-8 or so.

With Bobby, Mane and Mo running in front of him, I think he'll pick up a couple of assists this season. Would be quaking in my boots if I was a defender in the league.

Rather than thinking creativity- who can play a difficult final pass?

I'd say Mane, Bobby, Mo, Naby, TAA, Shaquiri, Sturridge. Maybe Gini and Lallana too. And Milner. Fabinho I don't know.

Who can receive passes and finish? The obvious three, Naby, Shaquiri, Gini, Lallana, Sturridge, Ings and Solanke.

Would be nice to add Fekir to the mix, but not getting him is no excuse for not creating chances v parked buses.

I'd say Fabinho and Keita are starting midfielders v West Ham, probably along with Milner. Attackers unchanged, no new face in the back line, and Alisson in goal.

Should Fekir come (or Vida) they will surely be in preseason mode, along with Hendo and Lovren for most of august.

Can't see a problem, can't see an excuse for dropping points.
