17 wins and 1 draw so far is phenomenal. I’ve enjoyed your title drought but this year you will walk it, you are head and shoulders above everyone else. City have peaked, the other ‘top 6’ sides are a bit of a mess, and you are going from strength to strength.

I know there’s a long way to go but may I be the first to acknowledge you as this season’s champions, and playing football the way it is supposed to be played. Very very impressive.

Well, that wasn’t as hard as I thought it might be.

Truth be told it would have been sweeter if both our sides were competing and we knocked you guys off. But doesn't seem like happening for a while. I don't know if i want you guys to finish top 4 either because that reflects poorly on the league.
I do wish that you guys can sort your mess out quicker than what it took us to sort it out. Also hope OGS says 'i don't fear anfield' and then gets spanked by us and sacked which might be a blessing for you guys.

Well anyways Happy new year!

2.) 27 Dec 2019 09:10:35
Cheers AJH. It really must be the season of goodwill.

3.) 27 Dec 2019 09:21:57
AJH thanks mate hope your team get sorted soon as the only thing missing IF we do win will be we didn't beat in form United and Everton in the title race.

4.) 27 Dec 2019 09:49:38
Cheers Tony - banging post and very gracious of you.

Long way to go still in my eyes and Klopp and the boys will look at one game at a time rightly so, but, after that performance yesterday, that was poetry in motion. This team are something else - all in it together and the confidence is brimming - such a joy to watch.

Happy new year everyone - here’s to a successful 2020 🤞.

5.) 27 Dec 2019 10:41:10
Sound that mate, nice one.

6.) 27 Dec 2019 10:41:27
Cheers Tony, always enjoy your posts here and on the dark side.

Hope you find a new job/ career as soon as possible.

08 May 2019 12:51:29
Fair play to you, that was some performance. You and City are setting the standard for the rest and not just domestically. I'm old enough to put tribalism to one side, that was epic, unbelievable performance.

AJH

1.) 08 May 2019 13:05:39
Thanks AJH.

2.) 08 May 2019 13:16:07
Nice one AJH.

3.) 08 May 2019 13:27:52
Classy mate.

4.) 08 May 2019 14:41:20
AJH, classy comment. You are the second Utd supporter to come on here and congratulate us. Nuff respect, man!

24 Feb 2019 18:36:10
Well that was a strange one. All those injuries disrupted the first half and despite all your possession, no real threat or clear chances created. There were 3 real chances in the game and they all fell to us, great save by Allison, marginal off side for the won goal, and Smalling not throwing himself at a cross.

I learned a few things today. United have improved massively in recent months and even missing half our fist team still kept a clean sheet and could (should) have won based on clear chances. But there is still a gap to you and City and our depth needs improving before we can properly challenge.

As for you lot, I was surprised at how you played. Your football last year was mesmerising but it was all too controlled, dare I say you showed too much respect, playing not to lose as opposed to playing to win. I think the League will be won off the pitch as much as on it, keeping players calm and focused and not letting the nerves kick in, squeaky bum time and all that. I think you’re u should just go for it and try and steamroller teams, don’t over think it.
As a United fan it’s a lose lose for me as either you or City win it so may the best team win.

AJH

1.) 24 Feb 2019 19:08:34
Truthfully I thought it was an awful game, I mean yes, the injuries in the first half were terrible - hope they ok on both sides.

But when, as a Utd fan, have you ever seen your team sit back like that at home and hope a counter attack would prevail?

Mane and Salah def off form today, in fact, Liverpool like that recently going forward the last few games

But seriously, apart from the Lingard chance was there any real chances? Yeah, goal disallowed (rightly) for offside, Liverpool on another day coulda got a penalty or two but seriously?

This game is not how the history between these sides is, or ever was.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know how liverpool could have had a penalty or two bill....they never entered united,s box..

2.) 24 Feb 2019 19:16:12
Maybe we did show too much respect, or maybe we simply were just not on it. Either, I'll take the point. Every little gain matters now.

Good post, btw. 👍.

3.) 24 Feb 2019 19:26:39
Respect to United AJH, loosing three players before half time and one in the warm up is not easy and would of wrecked all the prep for the game. But Liverpool were awful and got what hey came for, a clean sheet.

4.) 24 Feb 2019 19:29:06
Irish bill is talking about the 2 incidents with McTominay from corners Ed 025 both would have been soft.

{Ed025's Note - oh right, i must have missed that den..cheers..

5.) 24 Feb 2019 19:40:58
Lol, I missed them too. Lingard chance, offside own goal, Smalling not throwing himself at a cross, they were the 3 proper chances. Poor game, injuries didn’t help and the history of this game probably also contributed. I just think if Liverpool are going to win the Leage, they need to relax and play their game. It worked last year but the defence was dodgy, now with a much better GK and CB they don’t need to worry and just need to go for it.

It’s funny what pressure can do to people though, it gets in your head as I saw with a United in ‘92. We had the league won and threw it away, it’s not just about what happens on the pitch, if your heads aren’t right then it can quickly go pear shaped.

{Ed025's Note - very true AJH..

6.) 24 Feb 2019 20:32:54
It was a poor game considering the quality of players out there and what was at stake!
I think neither team done enough to win it and both were quietly happy with a point.
Salah and Mane were both poor and I can’t believe he brought Sturridge on, Klopp may as well have played himself!
I struggled to stay awake I’m the second half.

7.) 24 Feb 2019 20:46:01
I think for most of the season our midfield have basically controlled games and protected the back four without really being creative. The front 3 have done the damage by creating chances for each other. Teams are now allowing the midfield to have the ball whilst denying space for the danger men as they know the midfield pose little danger. If we had someone in midfield who was prepared to run at teams, shoot from distance and generally put a bit of fear into the opposition the front 3 would get more space as the opposition would have another threat to worry about. Naby was supposed to be this player but he’s not quite got to grips with the prem yet. Shaqiri could be the man but he does give possession away cheaply at times and I get the feeling Klopp doesn’t fully trust him. Dare I say it but we need a Coutinio type of player. I just feel that’s our one weakness. Could Fekir of been that player. Should Klopp unleash Shaqiri for a run of games, will Keita turn those glimpses of quality into dominating performances or is this just a blip and the front 3 will be tearing it up again before we know it. All I know is before the season started I expected us to be a lot closer to city but I didn’t expect us to be ahead of them at this point as they pretty much strolled it last season. Hopefully it is just a bad patch and we finish the season strongly and become champions. If we fall short I’m confident we will be even better next season and that’s an exciting prospect. Klopps creating a team to be successful long term. YNWA.

8.) 24 Feb 2019 21:36:58
Those are great posts AJH. I agree with you 100%.

9.) 24 Feb 2019 21:59:12
AJH, I don't know what you are here to gloat about. The game was pretty awful all the way on both sides and like it or not, OGS did a Mou with Pogba playing auxilliary LB position and THAT was before all the injuries happened. Don't come here and gloat about a damn thing cos frankly, if doing a Mou and getting a point is all you got to gloat about then I would keep my thoughts to myself if I were you.

We were not at it as we were quite dire esp. in the final third and all that BUT, I'll take the point esp. since Spurs lost. You on the other hand, still have a fight on your hands for the top 4. Oh and by the way, an offside goal does NOT exist. Smalling was offside hence whatever happens afterwards, is irrelevant so come on here like it was an opportunity to score cos it WASN'T. We are ahead of City and that is all that matters. We move on.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think he was gloating redwolf, he was merely stating that after 3 injuries the team had to reshuffle and all pulled together and that was the case, they did actually have the best chances in what was a dire game mate and i dont think what he said was gloating in any way..

10.) 24 Feb 2019 22:54:20
Harsh redwolf, I think he was spot on and not gloating at all’s, and we were poor going forward, especially our front 3. While I think Matip could easily have won a penalty by having his arm grabbed and pulled back in the box, the end result was what we deserved as we just didn’t show enough desire. If we continue to play like this we’ll be overtaken for sure.

Also agree with Scootinio, it’s clear our system is a lot more reserved than before, focussing on clean sheets and our front three scoring a goal or two, but we need more threat from midfield as with all our possession I still haven’t seen a decent shot from distance almost all season. A threat from midfield would make us a lot more dangerous and it’s a real worry Shaqiri isn’t showing the threat he brought off the bench in the first half of the season. I was hoping he’d be the difference against the Mancs as it was clear Sturridge and Origi aren’t the answer.

11.) 24 Feb 2019 23:03:44
If any of the EDDS r around,
Do u think that the front three, SALAH, MANE, FIRMINO are in the comfort zone, all recently signed new contracts, but if there all fit they play no matter what, there is no pressure on there places. they were poor today, they lacked urgency, most of them just seem to be going through the motions.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are top of the league - the side is playing well.}

12.) 25 Feb 2019 02:43:21
I disagree with us showing you too much respect, it was the other way round for me, I thought Mourinho had taken charge again, you sat so deep. It was embarrassing for a team in such good form and this was the case before any injuries.
You did defend very well and where very organised and could have nicked it as you had the best chances, although only 1 I would class as a good chance (Lingard) . A draw isn’t the worse result for either team but for me it feels like you were there for the taking and it feels like 2 points dropped.

13.) 25 Feb 2019 02:46:33
No but Sturridge is stealing a living, we looked fairly threatening until Firmino went off and Sturridge came on and we lost any threat.

14.) 25 Feb 2019 03:23:31
I don't think he's gloating at all. It was a good assessment though I disagree United should have won. Yes they had a chance but they weren't exactly open goal misses. I think a draw was the correct result. Yes united parked the bus, but they suffered 3 injuries and Rashford was playing with an injury, what else could he really do in that situation. United actually played well and completely nullified us. Shaw had Salah in his pocket the whole time he was on. In my opinion, Klopp made mistakes with the subs. Sturridge should not have come on and TAA should have replaced Milner as he was atrocious all game. I think the only players who can honestly say they did OK were Alisson, VVD and Fab. It was a terrible game of football and the injuries obviously didn't help. Unfortunately City won the cup so momentum is definitely with them at the minute, but they have lost Laporte and Fernandinho which is huge for them, so next week will be very interesting.

15.) 25 Feb 2019 04:55:25
Very fair appraisal, AJH, although i think the difference between the two teams post-match is that Liverpool will feel they under-performed while Utd will celebrate a hard-fought draw. OGS will certainly be a lot more content than Jurgen.

16.) 25 Feb 2019 07:11:24
I don’t think AJH was gloating in the slightest, I think that’s a bit harsh.
I thought it was a pretty fair assessment to be fair.

{Ed025's Note - so do i drogie mate..

17.) 25 Feb 2019 10:00:08
fair post AJH but i definitely think we should have had a penalty ( The Matip one) if that was reviewed by VAR that is a penalty everyday.

18.) 25 Feb 2019 12:35:49
and rashford was playing with practically 1 foot for 80 minutes.

17 Mar 2018 19:31:41
This is a difficult post to write but here goes.

You’re playing some super football right now and Salah is incredible, everything we hoped a Lukaku, or Sanchez would be. It pains me to say it but you are playing football the United way.

I was born in Manchester, live in Warrington, and have often worked in Liverpool. I hate your club, I hope you never win another trophy, but I know the people of Liverpool and they are sound.

My club found time to issue a statement asking fans to stop singing a song about Lukaku’s penis but they remain silent when tens of thousands of fans sing vile chants at games against Liverpool. It’s the one time of the year I am embarrassed to be a United fan. Banter is fine, hatred is not. On the pitch we hate each other, off the pitch we are all human, with families and responsibilities. It may be futile but I am writing to my club to point out their silence and ask them to step up and show some class.

AJH

1.) 17 Mar 2018 19:39:53
wow hats off to you mate
class post.

2.) 17 Mar 2018 19:40:27
Thanks AJH. I'm not a Liverpudlian, but I support this club since decades. All I can say is that you're "sound" too.

3.) 17 Mar 2018 19:40:54
Much respect for this post. Very well said AJH.

4.) 17 Mar 2018 19:41:15
Top, top man.

5.) 17 Mar 2018 19:48:29
Lovely Post that.

6.) 17 Mar 2018 19:53:07
We aren't playing football the United way at all mate, Liverpool playing the Liverpool way and have been building up to this since Klopp came in. Positive attacking football, United play the worst football i have ever seen atm.

Other than that decent post. Everyone likes a bit of banter.

7.) 17 Mar 2018 19:56:23
Great post mate. Respect.

8.) 17 Mar 2018 19:56:27
AJH it’s the main reason I’d never take my son ( when he’s old enough ) to United away. I have no problem with being kept behind for 30-45 mins at Old Trafford, it’s the chanting that spoils the fixture. It then goads some idiotic
Liverpool fans to them start chanting the anti united chants.

Good post. I now live in Appleton pal. Where do you live in Warrington?

9.) 17 Mar 2018 20:34:29
Culcheth mate, it’s full of Scousers 😳.

10.) 17 Mar 2018 20:47:27
Fair play AJH. It’s nice to hear that. Banter is banter, it’s part and parcel of football but I agree the vile chants need to disappear. It’s just not good and totally undignified of those that take part. Hats off to you for saying your piece tho I’m sure the feelings mutual and LFC supporters have a high dislike for Utd but as you say it’s about the clubs and not the fans. C’Mon Brighton 🤣🤣 kick their arse!

11.) 17 Mar 2018 20:49:50
Class post AJH.

12.) 17 Mar 2018 21:16:50
The other side from me then. I do drive through Culcheth when we goes to Bents garden centre for lunch and aokk round.

I tend to go out and have a few beers in Stockton Heath.

13.) 17 Mar 2018 22:19:56
Sound post, AJH.

14.) 18 Mar 2018 08:17:28
Both clubs should issue zero tolerance statements every time this fixture comes up.
Great post AJH 👏.

23 Dec 2017 08:15:44
That was a fantastic game, completely mad, I was as entertained as I have been all season which kind of sums up United’s play, comfortably second but not playing particularly well.

We beat Arsenal 3-1 at their place but here’s the thing. If you swap De Gea and Mignolet then I think Arsenal would have beaten United and you would have won last night. How Klopp can’t see he needs a new keeper is beyond me, your attacking threat is incredible but you always look like shipping a few.

I think City will win it unless they implode which is very unlikely. Right now it looks like a battle for 2nd between United and Chelsea with the 4th spot between you, Spurs, and the Scousers. Fair?

AJH

1.) 23 Dec 2017 08:58:08
Very fair assessment AJH, our keeper isn’t someone that saves games for us, but he sure can help throw a few. Conceding 3 goals in five minutes from only 4 shots on target says it all really.

We dominated for long periods until we suddenly let them back in it, if we could eliminate that habit we’d be a much much better team and changing the keeper should be the start.

I’d agree with most of your post apart from maybe Liverpool still being able to finish anywhere from 2nd to 6th. I think with the rest and the rotation we’ve given the players we could end up picking up points on rivals in next couple of months.

2.) 23 Dec 2017 08:58:29
AJH, don't know if you are an Arsenal fan BUT if you think they would make top 4 with the shambles we saw last night from them both offensively and defensively then, I fear for you. LFC let them off the hook BIG TIME yesterday as we could have smashed the by 4 in the first half alone and no one would have batted an eye lid.

As for the GK issue, we don't even need a DDG type GK as we don't even concede that many shots on target like Utd do. All we need is a solid GK who can play in a Klopp system and who can pull off the odd save to keep us in games. We don't need to rely on him like Utd relies on DDG to literally win games. We have that GK right now in Karius and he has been solid in the CL this season and made one error in all 8 games he has played. Migs made THREE mistakes in the LC game alone and almost cost us the points there as well. These draws from winning positions is what will hurt us in the end if we don't fix up, quick. On to Swansea.

{Ed025's Note - hes a united fan brover..

3.) 23 Dec 2017 09:10:11
Spot on AJH.

4.) 23 Dec 2017 09:12:57
Oh, ok. No prob.

5.) 23 Dec 2017 09:39:44
Brover the cantona pic might have given it away.

6.) 23 Dec 2017 11:28:55
Spot on about DDG, he’s top drawer and that game against Arsenal he was incredible. I don’t think it’s that comfortable between you and Chelsea for 2nd though, I wouldn’t discount us just yet!

7.) 23 Dec 2017 12:47:15
I know, Firmane BUT i just drew a blank.

8.) 23 Dec 2017 13:29:49
Migs won't be dropped, and top 3 is just out of our reach, 4th or 5th again, we have a great attacking threat, be we have to be honest, and say that our goalie and back four are just not good enough for top 10, never mind top 3 .

I'm as appalled as you are, utterly appalling. I struggle to understand the mentality of someone who thinks this is, well I don't know what.

I was working in Liverpool at the time, with people who were indirectly affected, this plant pot wasn't even born. It kind of demonstrates the sick side of society that exists now, I hope they throw everything they can at him.

Marty, Marty, Marty, you ready for big school next year?

I've been posting for 12 years and periodically post on all other teams pages. I have a good laugh with raver on the Spurs page, Malaga on the Arsenal page, and a few on the Chelsea page.

I thought I was polite and constructive but here you are, stamping your feet.

Martinez has been awesome, as I said above, Antony hasn't.

Bang average? I've hated watching United for years, the football has been awful. This year has been completely different. Clearly we have run out of gas as the squad depth isn't there but you keep kidding yourself Marty.

Thanks for your constructive comments.

Hmm, sine great points here, and some not so great ones.

Liverpool will be at least 25 points worse than last year, United will likely be 18 points better than last season. You finished 37 points ahead of us last year, this year you have less points, but United haven't made progress?

One of our biggest problems was attitude and signing players like Cas and Eriksen helps address that, as does shipping out Ronaldo who should never have been brought back. However, the best signing we made is Martinez who is a 5ft 9in beast.

As a few have said, signing the right people is key. Antony for us hasn't delivered, but I'm not convinced by Nunez or Gakpo either. The teams that recruit well will improve, as United have shown in recent years, recruit poorly and things go from bad to worse.

Here's a thought. As I said above, I think Klopp is a great Manager, but there is a view that after a period of time his methods no longer work and he needs to move on. Perhaps that time is now.

I love how you didn't mention United, because this is just another false dawn right?

City are streets ahead of everyone, Arsenal put up a good fight but faded and let's be honest, none of us saw them being so strong. I th8nk they will continue next year and if they buy well may get even stronger.

Newcastle will undoubtedly spend and if they continue their current trajectory will be up there. However, they have ECL as well so will need a deeper squad.

Like it or not, United progressed hugely this year. A cup, top 4, and a cup final to come, but also 3 horrible defeats so work still to do. It all comes down to the quality of recruitment and the ability to shift a lot players out. If we sign a top top CF (easier said than done), then we will be very very tasty. We were flying until lack of squad depth caught up with us, but the right recruitment should address that.

Chelse qre awful, Poch will help, but it will take time to sort that mess out, same for Spurs, and Brighton will lose players so will likely go backwards.

As for Liverpool, what an odd season, I don't pretend to understand it. I think recruitment will be key, get the right players in and you will be right back up there, get it wrong and you will struggle. You have a great Manager, one of the best so that's a big plus, but trying to understand what happened this year is beyond me, and id I was you, that would worry me.
