So then, In the cold light of day, the performance was the usual, tactically slow and ponderous, 2 of the goals were pretty much down to mistakes by Leeds, the subs were as usual bizarre to say the least and as much as we scored 3 we look really tentative up top, let's not even go there with the defence, inept is an understatement.
And then just to add more dynamite to the Slot out debate our Mo decides to come out and pour fuel on the bonfire with his own take on what's been going on and how he feels, its utter madness.
Now as I type this there has been no official club announcement which personally I think is pretty unbelievable given the circumstances and nobody seems any the wiser as to whether the club are going act with regards to the poor recent management or the statement from Mo.
People will be divided by this turn of events but there are as many answers as questions in some ways, we now know there clearly is unrest in the dressing room and that its likely more than just Mo that is unhappy with a few things, we pretty much know by now that Slots way of football is not cutting it in the premier league and we also know that he isn't for changing anytime soon.
Personally I'm Slot out, I've seen enough to know I don't like the football for a start, Its slow and boring and reminds me of Rodgers last months in charge, I thought we'd moved away from all that, I also don't think he has the man management skills to sort this out, it seems to be getting worse and the last few results given the opposition have been dreadful.
This is not the title defence we expected given the huge signings we made and by the way we should be walking this league this season given the standard of it.
Currently, its a mess and somethings got to give and quick, I'm suggesting after Mo's statement it'll be sooner rather than later.

Wouldnāt be surprised to see Slot and Salah go now.
As much as I love Mo, he can have no complaints about being benched for the last games. I get thereās multiple players playing awful and still playing but speaking out like that was the nuclear option.
Puts the club in a terrible position where if they sack Slot and keep Mo it looks like player power has won.

It's amazing Hughes and Edwards only getting focused in on now. The collapse had to happen before questions were asked about just how good/ bad a job they're doing.
I said when we had interest in frimpong it would be a waste of money. Fans moaned at me. a lot of money was not used wisely and effectively in the summer. Kerkez had an ok game yesterday but I didn't fancy him either but Hughes liked him. We needed 3 top centre backs. We bought a potentially very good kid. I have no time for the excuses on geuhi. There were plenty of options within a full summer transfer window.
Diaz sold and a winger not sought but "gakpo would be great for the star kid developing".
Sticking to Hughes and Edwards. The left side of the team was weakened this summer window and in Central defence we stuck by a terrible player who wanted to do the club over to get his way like trent.
Of course we could speak about the midfield issues aswell but apparently grav is a "worldly 6".
We need a manager that knows what this league demands and do more cleaning of the squad. Jones, gakpo, endo, macca, gomez should be sold for fees in the summer.

Iāll be honest I was over the moon with the summer transfer window. We broke the British transfer record twice.
I have no idea what Edwards and Hughes do day to day with the club but I do know that they donāt pick the team or set the tactics and formation etc.
Not saying they are blameless but the manager takes the credit when itās going well so has to carry the can when itās not.

They should just appoint you as director of football, Batman7, you clearly have much greater clarity of vision than the board does, just sell all the decent squad players that you don't fancy and replace them with world class options, easy peasy!

I'd stick by slot until guehi and seymeno join in January which I expect.
The reality is We have two very poor centre backs. Calamity Jane Konate and Virg. Virg has made a lot of big errors aswell this season. Virg has to be sold this summer. You can't have a salah situation repeating next season.
No player deserves to continually play when they're rubbish or simply over the line.
A interim manager won't have the balls to drop and deal with salah. Let's be honest about salah too. He's been terrible since last march. An odd quality cross or penalty is worth 400k a week? No. Time to move on and wish him well.

Salah was excellent against villa and Madrid, to be fair, he is still a top player. Not defending him for what he did, which I have said is totally reprehensible and ill advised, but he is far from over the hill as a player.

It was always expected as soon as he was benched. Never thought he would do it directly instead of releasing from close sources.
He also said he will invite parents for the next game and enjoy even if he is not sure of playing.

What attacking player is quality for 90 minutes? And at the age of 33? Salah was very rarely quality for 90 minutes last year as well, hell he often went missing for most of the game before coming up with a goal or two or an ingenious assist, didn't stop him from having a historic season.
Certainly he has been off colour, but your criticisms don't feel very substantial to me.

On a side note if/ when Slot finally goes whoever comes in Iād like to Milner in the coaching team. Personally think he is what the squad needs right now. Only an opinion like to hear ed001 thoughts and other posters.

Btw, for those talking about Gerrard, he has a full group of coaches he works with that he would want to bring with him, not sure how that would play out on an interim basis.}

I think there is a power struggle between the Head Coach and transfer committee.
The signing of new players hasn't aligned with Slot's idea of tactics.
The whole season has turned into a perfect storm of a disaster and everyone is to blame.

Whoever comes in Iāll be really interested to see who gets picked and the system they play given the lack of options in certain positions.
A interim would want free rein which could include not playing Isak, Wirtz and Kerkez on current form. Is Edwards or Hughes really going to sanction someone that undermines the buys theyāve made, I donāt think so.

Can we really blame the transfer committee? They replaced Quansah, Trent, Diaz, Nunez and Jota with Leoni, Frimpong, Wirtz, Ekitike and Isak.
With the exception of Frimpong thatās an obvious improvement in every replaced player but it wouldāve been impossible to find a right back who does what Trent did anyway.
They had Guehi done and in his medical when Palace pulled the plug. They canāt be blamed for that.

I think everybody, myself included, was so happy with the signings we made during the transfer window.
I remember feeling at the time that it was a never ending array of talent arriving which would help keep us at the top for the next few years, although I did honestly feel that missing out on Guehl was a bit of a loss.
I had hoped then that maybe Leoni could step up and fill that hole and it would be a good opportunity for the lad. Unfortunately he got a terrible injury which ended his season.
I think with the way the season has unfolded has seemed so bad because of the players we added. I think most fans felt that we would kick on with the additions but weāve regressed hugely in spite of them.
This has mostly been down to poor training and tactics, awful selections and the inability of the manager to see itās not working and to change it.

We'd been wondering what had happened to Salah. Why have his performances dropped away so badly, why did his form fall off a cliff at the beginning of April. Maybe he gave us the answer himself in his interview yesterday.
It is one of the original and fundamental principles of team sport. Selection is, and has to be, based on current capability and form. The moment a manager/ coach deviates from that, he's lost. Salah's comments yesterday imply (more than imply actually) that he feels he is above this; that somehow his previous achievements mean he is guaranteed a place in the team for as long as he wants it, regardless of whether he is still able to deliver on the pitch. I don't have a problem with an all time great being given a bit more latitude and slack when they're out of form, especially when it's a player who has a history of brief dips in form and has always come back firing, but there comes a point where you can't just carry on picking a player who isn't contributing.
The contract renewal extension made me cringe a bit at the time but even more so now. The king with his crown on sitting in his throne. I think Salah has elevated himself in his own mind to be bigger than the team and the club; and there is absolutely no room for that in my opinion.

This is all conjecture on my part and I have absolutely no insider knowledge of any kind. But I was wondering whether Salah was actually referring to his place in the squad when he mentioned his "position" instead of him playing week in week out. Most people take it to mean that he's unhappy being sat on the bench but I'm thinking that it's deeper than just that.
Like I said, this is all speculation but I think Slot and Salah has a falling out of some kind prior to the West Ham game and that led to Salah being benched instead of his poor performance. Maybe Salah, as a senior member of the squad and part of the leadership group, confronted Slot on the negative tactics that we have been playing and asked for a change to how we played at the beginning of last season but Slot refused. Maybe that's the "position" that Salah is referring to that he earned rather his position on the pitch as our RW. Just a thought though because I found the statement he made to be very strange.
Regardless, I don't think it was right of Salah to air all this out in public the way he did but then again, even Dom alluded that things aren't good in the dressing room too. This could be the push Edwards and Hughes need to move Slot on.

I donāt think we can level lack of effort at the likes of Connor, Kerkez or Robbo. They just donāt seem comfortable with the system, and a bit lost. Same with Wirtz. Szob has been the only standout player. Ekitike has been pretty good. Ali looks injured, but has been ok when heās played. Jo has been ok.
Iād put Konate, Grav, Macca, VVD, Mo, Marm, Curtis and Gakpo into the must and could do better category. Actually with a few of them Iām not sure they can lift it.
The other one thatās disappointed more than others for me is Isak. I think itās his style rather than anything, but he just walks around a lot. I want more from a centre forward regardless of who they are, and if itās due more to injury recovery and fitness donāt play him. The first team isnāt the place to get fitness unless weāre winning games comfortably.

This Salah interview after reading about how many hundreds of times heās turned down post match interviews for me shows just how upset he is about the situation. The guy is human at then end of the day cares about the club and by all accounts is humble and passionate. The mood behind scenes I guess only the players and staff really know but seems poisonous. For me the sooner Slot is gone the better and give another manager the time to try and repair damage done and build for next season.
While no player is bigger than the club and our history shows that from keegan to Torres there isnāt many players today of Salahs quality. His form dip Iām sure is temporary and he needs our support. For me the whole squad needs a balance of back to basics but also the obvious affection Klopp had for them. The Jota tragedy has shook them and they are still overcoming grief but I just donāt get the family feel that Klopp had with the players with Slot. There is no passion.

That's the thing, Ed25. What people are not asking is that even though Salah should have prolly kept this in-house, what made Salah speak so bluntly as he did. Not only does he not give inerviews, the ones he gives are very measured and chooses his words. That seems to not be the case in this instant.
If he spoke like he did, that must mean that it is worse than whatever it could be imagined. Also pretty sure if we asked the Chiesa's, Endo's, Gomez's et al (those who Slot refuses to play/ start come hell or high water), will they have their gripes as well? Or even agree with Salah's outbursts symbolically, at least?
That's more my thing.
Now regardless of what Salah said or didn't say, Slot is going to go. That much is clear.

I can never agree with his statement in full, because he specifically said that he doesn't have to earn his place in the team. That he'd already done it.
We cannot carry passengers at the moment and, unfortunately, that's all he has been since he signed his new contract in my opinion.

He didn't say that he earned his place in the team though Fornax. He mentioned that he earned his "position" in it. It could possible mean his place in the team but it could also mean his status as a leader. Maybe he questioned and confronted Slot on his tactics and that led to the falling out, being benched, and "being thrown under the bus" comments.
Cos if it was for footballing reasons, Konate should have been the first one dropped from the team.
