Is Huijsen dependent on Konate being sold or potentially additive?

Can see him wanting to be a starter.

Probably both scenarios.

I think Huijsen is left sided cb so he would probably be seen as a long term Virgil replacement as opposed to Konate. I could be completely wrong on that tho.

We need another CB as Quansah isn't anywhere near good enough and should be sold.

Spanish press are reporting that Huijsen is most likely going to Chelsea, and that Madrid and ourselves aren’t in contention, apparently Madrid don’t fancy paying the transfer fee which sounds about right.

And you really believe that? Huijsen is a Liverpool signing all over, every journo reporting we're in for him, Hughes has contacts at Bournemouth and he has a release clause. To me he seems like the most likely signing of anybody we've been linked with as a long term successor for Virgil.

Cant see us not wanting him at £50m, the boys top class and at that price is a no brainer.

He won't happen as Salah has no belief in Hughes, so as Salah says where screwed.

Kloppofthenortheast, do refresh my memory - when exactly did I say we were screwed? You’re right about Hughes though. I’ve got about as much faith in him as a chocolate teapot in a heatwave. Summer will be the judge of that. Credit where it’s due, you nailed that bit, shame about your spelling but you'll get there - no doubts about it ? 1/ 3 isn't too bad, try harder next time ?.

Genuine question, @Salah, why do you have no faith in Hughes?

The real question is Wdw, why should I have faith in Hughes? He’s yet to prove anything, and while this could all be part of a larger plan, we’re still left guessing. If the strategy was for Slot to take a year checking out the squad, why were we trying to sign players last summer?

Take the goalkeeper situation - Hughes brought in someone we didn’t need, and even if we did, is he genuinely good enough? I don't think so. Then there was the gamble on an injury-prone player whose best days are clearly behind him.

The squad wasn’t strengthened at all. Yes, we ended up winning the league, but Hughes couldn’t have known that would happen back in the summer. From that perspective, he took unnecessary risks and failed to do his job both in the summer and again in January.

If he delivers this summer, I’ll gladly admit I was wrong. But based on what we’ve seen so far, I just don’t see it happening.
