Nice review Ed01.

What was VVD doing with Gordon? It looks very deliberate.

Yes, Gapko should have buried feom that position instead of squaring.

Kelleher is 100% fault for their 3rd goal, but when you mark opposition player at corners, shouldn't you take full responsibility till it goes out of play? Thought Trent could have gone with that player and stopped 3rd goal.

{Ed001's Note - what does it matter? If Kelleher does what he should have, Trent is then in position to break. Which is what he was clearly thinking. The fault is all Kelleher's, it should not have mattered what anyone else did and they should be able to rely on the keeper to deal with simple balls like that. It is part of the way we play to be able to break quickly, you don't do that by having an unreliable keeper who keeps making the same error and is not learning from it.}

I agree on Endo there were times in games he should have got more minutes. Grav looked out on his feet he was a liability. The RM game was a major problem we put far too much into it, put too much importance on a qualifying game.

These 3 league games were always going to test us and we have tired looking squad. But a win today changes the narrative and then we can try and rest players.

What are your thoughts on Gordon diving to get players booked and get free kicks in important positions?

{Ed001's Note - I hate it, but that also applies to Nunez and Mac Allister, who both do the same thing.}

Haha was that the list of movies I put up a few years ago? Glad u liked them ed.

{Ed001's Note - ohh no, I meant your road warrior movies! Sorry I was trying to be funny, but it backfired. I will have to check them out to see what they are as I have forgotten.}

I read somewhere that Gordon’s parents Ian Dowie and Claire Balding taught him to dive from a young age.

As always Cheers for the review Ed0001. No need for an Everton one. Have a weekend off.

{Ed001's Note - off? If only. I will just carry on with research on the next article.}

Pulled no punches there, Ed01. When the first goal went in I also said Alisson would've saved that. Can't wait to have him back; just hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the season.

{Ed001's Note - that was exactly what I was thinking on each goal, that Ali stops it.}

Ali catches it, finds Salah and 4-2.

Great review Ed001 . I noticed in the game that the Newcastle players tried to stop VVD from having the ball. n let Joe Gomez come out with the ball. you think that's going to happen a lot from teams.

{Ed001's Note - I am always surprised that doesn't happen every game.}

I am all right, thank you for asking ?.

{Ed001's Note - glad to hear it.}

They wouldn't have scored two if Alisson was playing, kimos28 ?.

Gordon seems like a decent bloke when I've heard him talk. I'm not going to be too hard on him for diving when most clubs have their own. Unfortunately, feigning injury or contact is part of the game and it isn't going away.

Great review as always ed. Can’t disagree with a thing. Apart from mad max. Mad max 2 is one of my favourite movies of all time- but the first one is oretty dire apart from he final scene and the abysmal number three just sucks. There- I’ve said it. It is out there. Deal with it. We move on.

{Ed001's Note - oh dear, now you've done it.}

Good review Ed. I would’ve thought if there was a game where fans would realise just how good Trent is that would be the game. The game turned as soon as he came off the bench. We were like a different animal as soon as that happened. Also I have to say we badly missed Konate in the form his shown now I never thought I’d say that.
Up the pool.

{Ed001's Note - it is the way Newcastle just dropped off in panic when he got the ball that should show how much of a difference he makes.}

Thanks for the review Ed001. Wish Nunez has the silky touch in him like Torres, Suarez, and Firmino in the penalty box area and becoming more clinical, he could be very deadly for us with his pace and work rate like that.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think that will ever be him.}

Great read, Ed. I have no idea why people are cricising Trent for the 3rd goal. Absolute shambles. Keller is completely at fault, end of. He acts like he is going to catch it, everyone (but Schaar) freezes and for some reason, let's it go. What is Trent suppose to do there? Miss me with that rubbish.

Darwin had a really poor game and his decion making was all round poor as well, something he had been improving. As for the diving, it's gets my goat regardless of who does it. Sometimes, it is easier to stay on your feet than flop to the ground yet players never do it. It's infuriating.

As for the game overall, we did not play well till the second half and only took control of the game when Trent and Szobo came on. Kellerher could have done better for the second goal cos he seemed off balance when the shot came. As for the first goal, VVD looked soft and did not close Isak down enuff prolly cos he didn't believe he could score from there. All in all, we move on.

On a personal note, 'hope the move is going well for you, amn. Peace and love.

{Ed001's Note - thanks Oli.}

Great read again, thanks. I think kellerhers kicking is bad full stop not just this game. Even his speed of thought. But the lad has done really well for us mostly. Ali’s distribution is quicker always worth a couple of assists.

{Ed001's Note - I have been saying that about his kicking all along, it is abysmal.}

24.) 07 Dec 2024
07 Dec 2024 14:02:52
Do you not think the wind had something to do with Kelleher’s mistake Ed? Newcastle were playing against the wind so the ball held up more than he expected.

I thought the same about Isak’s goal it was wind assisted which made it harder to save. It flew off his foot.

People always underestimate the effects wind have on a game of football. It allowed Newcastle to pin us in in the first half also because Kelleher’s kicks barely made the halfway line and our usual switches of play weren’t finding their mark.

Not an excuse but strong winds do make it difficult to play good football so it definitely levels the playing field.

{Ed001's Note - no, he does this, he tries to be clever rather than just dealing with balls like that. It is not the first time he has got this wrong and it is not the wind, just poor judgement.}

25.) 07 Dec 2024
07 Dec 2024 16:28:27
@BP, I ain't with you on this one. Watch the play again. Keller goes for the ball and then pulls his hands down on purpose cos he thought there was nobody there. There no wind there and even if there was, it did not mess with the flight of the ball.

Also, remember that Kellerher did the very same thing vs Villa as well but he got away with it when Digne could not fully connect. For the second time at least, Kellerher tried to be too clever by half and this time, he got cooked. It is what it is.

26.) 07 Dec 2024
07 Dec 2024 20:06:21
Surely is Kelleher was dealing with strong wind then Schar would’ve gagged and missed his kick.

27.) 07 Dec 2024
07 Dec 2024 19:59:38
Ed, Do you think at heart with Kelleher that it’s over confidence or a flaw in technique. If it’s the latter then it might well be fixable.

{Ed001's Note - over confidence. How can it be technique? Or are you referring to his kicking? That is clearly a problem with his technique as he is terrible at it.}
