Proud of Curtis tonight. Had a great game up against 100 million quid players. Great squad player to have, proper scouser who can play an gives his all for the badge. ?.

Squad player? Beginning of last season he was literally the first name on the team sheet, his Achilles heel is staying fit, if he can overcome that then he’s absolutely more than just a squad player, look at gravenberch.

I don't think he's a squad player and never have. If and when we need to rotate I belive he's good enough not t just on tonight's performance. He's progression is coming along fine and injury have blighted it. And as I've said before he coke across brilliantly in the latest interview. A great scouser to have in the team. Well done lad.

I don't think Jones has ever been in a position where he was first name on the team sheet.

And that’s not a dig at him. Lots of players are in the same boat and it’s more of a testament of some of the world class players we have.

Fantastic! He had a great game. Apart from that second penalty chance where he should’ve just shot. He was great though throughout.

forget about the First Eleven, we need so many top players to cover so many games, and we need to rotate often,
but I think that we have a Top Coach, who will become a Top Top coach, we will be winning plenty with this man .

Only problem Curtis has is that he is injured too often. If he could stay fit I've no doubt he would start every week, no problem to him.

I’d agree with that JK. Jones is a squad play in as much as pretty much everyone is.

There are 2 or 3 that are shoe ins and the rest of the team can be picked on fitness and form.

I’d say Ali, VVD and Salah are the only ones you could say are the first names on the team sheet and even Salah could be debatable.

What about Grav, he is now really important to the team.

Trent is a certain starter.

Everyone knows I love Grav Kop That I’ve been one of his biggest supporters on here even last season but he is still young and will have dips in form along the way. At the moment he’s undroppable but Ali, VVD and Salah have proved it over years not months.

I do agree though he’s been a revelation this season, long may it continue.

I predict he’ll get fewer injuries under Slot.

Klopp beat teams with intensity. He was full tilt every game for 90 + mins. Slot is less intense.
Jones and Elliott will thrive.

Cool, I’m in, the annual Curtis Jones debate rides again. For what it’s worth I think he has the potential to be a regular in the team and a major contributor for the next decade. There’s also something about him that suggests he could be a good captain too. The massive ‘if’ is, as it has been for about three years, can he stay fit.

It wasn't a jab at Jones saying he's a squad player, more that we have a great squad and at the moment he isn't a first team player. I rate him highly, even when a lot of people were happy to sell him for a new shiny toy I always said he's at the very least a reliable back up. He could become much more than that though depending on iniuries and circumstances.

Deservedly MOTM tonight. The past couple of games he has been very good and I would have him in the team over Dom when he is fit. Dom has been terrible on the ball this season. Play Macca in the 10 with Curtis and Ryan behind. He is more than a squad player. End of ?.

All the players are squad players. It's a squad game.

Jones is important, Elliott is important, Gakpo is important, Gomez is important. They all are.

We'll need every one of them to win big trophies.

Always said it, Jones stays clear of injuries he'll be grand. His technique and workrate are top notch.

I agree with JK. Jones has never been the first name on the team sheet.
I don't think he ever will be. He's not eve in our first eleven, for me. Mac starts before him and the only way he gets in is if Szob is dropped for one of them to play further forward. That could be an option because Szob is not undroppable.

Jone is definitely a squad player in my view. The starting midfield should be Grav, Macca, and Szob. But Jones has the ability to come in for any of them and I wouldn't be too worried for the team if he does. He has decent technique and his work rate is top class. He does have weaknesses to his game and his injury history is a concern, but he is still a good back-up to have. As many have mentioned, it is a squad game now and we need more than a strong starting 11. Jones falls into that category for me.

Ironic that the two players who have won nearly all the MOTM awards are the two holding midfielders eh?

@WDW Also the 2 players a lot wanted to "upgrade".

I have never thought Jones was a squad player. He is potentially a starting player and he has shown a ton that he can start for us even in big games and can perform which he has and can. It's all about him putting the injury woes behind him and focus on his speed of execution of his decision making in the final third.

Cos like he did vs WH fo Darwin, he dallied too long on the ball and Salah was caught offside by the time he released it to Salah who squares to Gakpo and at 2 nil, Chelsea prolly get smoked. CJ just has to be a lot quicker in his execution of the decisions he makes in the final 3rd, like he did for his winning goal. MOTM and thoroughly deserved, IMO.
