Looks like Darwin could be in big trouble! Anyone else see him and other players act like Rocky and Rambo in the stands? ??.
Dick.

11 Jul 2024 05:27:01
Yeah he's definitely getting banned.

2.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 05:57:17
Just seen the video now.

In Darwin’s defence he missed the target for all 3 punches and was offside for at least 2 of them.

3.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 06:14:15
Looking after his family, apparently drunk Colombian fans threatened the families.

4.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 06:18:57
Looking forward eagerly to Ed25's rundown on this episode. :-) :-)

He has gone over and above his compatriot - Super. Can't wait for rival fans taunt him for his antics.

{Ed025's Note - i have not seen it yet Sami, i was watching the disappearance of Cody Gakpo mate.. :)

5.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 06:50:20
I mean if it’s true that Colombian fans were causing trouble with the Uruguay families then to be honest - fair enough.

Should he do it - no but it’s understandable in the heat of the moment.

6.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:16:43
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I believe a man should always protect his family.

Looking back at it his best option probably was to get his family out of the situation and onto the pitch to safety.

Instead the video just looks like he’s at the front of a group of Uruguayan ultras squaring up to a load of Colombian ones with all of them throwing punches with no women or kids welfare in sight.

A few months ago he deleted everything Liverpool (not football or his account) because he again was protecting his family.

Not sure what the fall out of this will be for him or any of the other players involved will be but it’s not a good start for LFC or Darwin for the new season.

{Ed025's Note - forget the protecting his family bit JK he was throwing a hissy fit because they got beat, he actually fights like a little girl and for all the gesturing never actually threw a punch...but he may have smudged his make up a bit mate.. :)

7.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:18:19
I just saw some video clips. He's going to get in serious trouble. I hope there are no match bans, but I won't be surprised if there are.

8.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:21:22
If that was a penalty last night this season ahead we arenin trouble MOM for England was the referee absolutely shocking he was.

{Ed025's Note - come on Rabh, give a bit of credit where its due mate..

9.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:24:43
Seen the video and it’s hardly Cantona at Palace. Handbags at best.

10.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:36:31
@Wassa, what the players did was still wrong though. The need to face the consequences.

{Ed025's Note - give them lines or detention..

11.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:46:48
To be fair Ed025 Gakpo did disappear just like Pickfords arms for the goal.

{Ed025's Note - Strech Armstrong wouldn,t of got that Jimmy..

12.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 07:48:26
Agree with most here. He is getting a ban here and most probably a long one. There is and was no need to go into the crowd. Terrible.

13.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:07:21
I speak from experience of 34 years as a referee never in a month of Sundays was it a penalty the media always ruin it but in all fairness was Ally Mcoist he must have been paid a fortune for the rubbish he was talking and then Gareth ainsworth is a clown well overboard with his comments.

14.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:09:19
Stuff like this happens all the time in South America, no one cares. There’ll be no ban. Uruguayan FA would fight it anyway and like I say handbags at best. I’ve seen groups of pissed hen parties fight better than that.

{Ed001's Note - I don't see what the problem is with what Nunez did. The questions that need asking are of the Colombian fans attacking players' families after they just won. What the f*** is wrong with them? There were small kids in there being pelted with objects. Why where the stewards not stepping in between? Where were the police? I would also like to know where the Colombian players were and why did they not step in too? Usually in these situations you would expect their own team to try and calm things down.

But what Nunez and his teammates did was nothing. Mostly they were just asking the Colombians to calm down and telling them their families were there.}

15.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:16:26
Glad to see Rabh back again turning a post nothing to do with England into somehow having a dig. Literally living rent free!

16.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:29:48
What do you mean mate it's a banter site for a reason both names mentioned were laughable with thier comments sure you won fair enough but be honest never a penalty the media have a cheek to criticise Anthony Taylor he is 100 times better than last nites referee the German who was punished for match fixing should never have been allowed back into refereeing.

17.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:32:38
Why are the families anywhere near the Colombian fans for gods sake! If anyone tried to hurt my family am go in without even thinking about it!

18.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:45:39
Longthing, the stadium was full of Colombian supporters, well outnumbering the Uruguayan fans. There was no way of separating them.

19.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:06:24
Get out, that goal was middle of the net, plenty of topclass keepers would of got that, i would when i was 16, Pickford is a mid table keeper at best, come on Ed get those blue tints off, he would be benched at a top 10 club inside 6 months.

{Ed025's Note - it was past him before he dived FSGF, great hit actually, lets get off Jordans back hey and show the guy some love...hes a National hero..

20.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:35:12
I don't think getting lines is a punishment when the Columbians are involved, Ed025.

I'm with Jimmy Boy on Pickford. He should have saved the shot for the Dutch goal but no real harm done.

{Ed025's Note - i like that Rigsby..

21.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:35:48
Thanks Ed01 for being the voice of reason, as opposed to Ed25 fanning the flames like some juvenile in the playground.

{Ed025's Note - you need to get a grip StEA, you see what you want to see mate and then go crying to the teacher...pathetic really..

22.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 08:38:48
Whether punches landed or not, good on Darwin. C'mon Ed025, you're a local, if your family is under any threat, surely you step in?
Less important, but, your mates are under threat, you step in, surely?
I couldn't give a crap about bans or fines, as Eric Idle said in Life of Brian, "I'll take you to the f##cking cleaners".

{Ed025's Note - a lot of it is speculation though Burkey, on the footage i seen there were no kids and who knows if there was family there or not?, sometimes people tell lies to justify their actions mate, i still think it was a girly goo hissy fit by players who dont like losing, but im sure all will be revealed in time mate..

23.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:05:47
Absolutely Ed, couldn’t agree more with you. Think it’s a storm in a teacup.

{Ed025's Note - me too mate..

24.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:14:20
I take it you’re not English Ranh? ??????????????????????????.

25.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:24:48
Fair enough Ed025, but Alexis Nunes, reporter, was at the ground and reported on Uruguay player's families being under threat and passing their young children over the barriers to safety.
But, I don't care how grave the threat actually was, I want a passionate player, on and off the pitch. Unless it's that other Uruguayan who likes to bite people and be racist.

{Ed025's Note - reporters can sensationalize an incident to suit their agenda Burkey, we have all seen little clips here and there mate but im sure the truth will out and we can judge fro there..

26.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 10:10:22
Come on now Ed25, that's a bit low even from you. There's actually videos of how Uruguay player's wives scrambling to send their childs onto the field from the stand because the Colombian fans are throwing stuff at them. There's video of Uruguay player's families member and staff that actually got hurt because of stuff throw at them because of drunk Colombian fans.

What do you expect Uruguay players to do when fans trying to hurt their families? Smiles and sing kumbaya? Too just say this is "girly goo hissy fits" because they lose a match is ridiculous. Their families just got hurt for God's sake.

{Ed025's Note - as i have said i have seen bits and bobs on the internet Mfahmee but none where kids or wives were involved, but im sure when things settle down the truth will out mate..

27.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 10:20:36
Just to support a fellow Scot, that was in no way a penalty, England played decent football for about 30 1st half minutes and then looked dire again. Ally Mccoist is usually my favourite commentator, but he was turning my stomach last night. I think he took his false teeth out at one point to mask the nonsense he was obviously being well paid to say!

28.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:34:54
So Gakpo goes missing
Darwin fights like a girl
And it was a penalty…. Ed25 you’re an embarrassment. If it was my family on the line I’d be in there too. Implying they weren’t at the game too when they were is silly also. Blaming it on the match result, he’s been beaten many times for Uruguay and never behaved that way.

{Ed025's Note - stop being a tit FK, FACT, Cody had a poor game and was hardly involved...not his fault i suppose but true, Darwin in his bra top looked like something out of Too Wong Foo and was flapping like a big tart...opinion, The ref and VAR gave a penalty...therefore it was a penalty...Fact..

29.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:35:17
Anyone who says Nunez should get banned, I seriously have to question your judgement and morals. Also, Nunez was not the only player that jumped into the crowd to protect their family. Urgarte, Valverde and Araujo are seen on video weight behind Nunez. Urgarte’s mum was taken to hospital. Araujo’s uncle was clearly seen on video fighting off the drunk violent Colombian fans.

Nunez’s son was seen traumatised and crying because of what he had to witness. And to make matters worse, the police took 30 minutes to turn up and if anything it should be the Uruguayan players suing the venue or whoever for not securing the safety of their family and for the delay in responding to the trouble. And I would hope any man would fight if their family were under attack, because if it were my family, I’m fighting without a second thought. If I can’t protect my family, I ain’t a man.

{Ed025's Note - i have yet to see those clips Alonso..

30.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:42:46
Pegleg, whether you’re English or not that’s just not a penalty.

At best it was a coming together at worst Kane followed through onto Dumfries trying to block the ball.

This is part of the problem with being partisan. Just say it like it is and that was an absolutely honking decision.

I’m fairly certain Saka handled it down to Kane as well.

{Ed025's Note - i think Foden my have given one of their players a wedgie as well Wassa....stop making things up mate ffs..

31.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:45:14
ED25, I agree. Can't blame the guy. I mean, Pickford's "alligator" arms can only reach so high at full stretch. It's not like there is a way of surgically extending them any higher, is there?

Oh and one last thing. "But, but, but it was past him before he dived. " Blah, blah, blah. Save it for the birds, mate. We'll get off Pickford's back the day you get off any LFC player's back for screwing up. It's only fair, right? Or are we only applying fairness when it suits us and don't apply it when it doesn't?

Cos I KNOW for a fact that if that was Kellerher or Ali or "insert any LDC GK past or present here" who made that poor excuse of an attempt to save a shot coming essentially right at him, you would be infesting this forum with all types of jokes about him. You do it all the time BUT now when it is one of your own, we should give him a break. Come on, man.

{Ed025's Note - Jordan is a national hero Oli, show the man some respect please..

32.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 09:50:17
Not sure why Nunez is now getting a drubbing over this, if my family were being abused and having stuff thrown at them by an unruled mob i would have done the same.

As for the "throwing" a chair at the fans, it doesn't get near anyone, a lot of noise about nothing.

Colombian fans are known for being trouble so the main issue is why there was no stewards or police to calm things down, they knew there would be trouble since south american fans are known to be some of the most "passionate" around.

{Ed025's Note - lets wait for the truth to come out first i suggest mate..

33.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 10:43:48
My point being this is a thread in relation to Nunez, the Uruguay Colombia debacle from last night.

But again for the second day in a row Rab cannot get passed his obsession with England.

If you want a thread which contains nothing more than to discuss how England and the English are x, and z then feel free to start one. We can then move on by and read other threads we are interested in rather than turning every thread into your negative take on everything related to the England team.

34.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 10:51:26
Wassa, totally agree with you 100% not a penalty. Said it last night. If I was Dutch I’d feel very hard done too and if I was any other of the home nations I’d still be bitter ???.

35.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:14:02
Ed25, all those clips are readily available on Twitter mate. I get banter and jokes but peoples families should never be put in that situation. Seen a lot of rival fans put their rivalry aside and actually say fair play to Nunez for protecting his family. Again, if it were me I am suing the host, venue or whenever and I’m having a straightener there and then with whoever is attacking my family. Also, 30 minutes for the police to turn up is unacceptable. Wife’s and kids were quickly moved out of there. But seeing Nunez consoling his son after him and his wife were subject to coming under attack has no place in football. And to think that country is one of the three hosting the 2026 World Cup ?‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - i have not seen them clips yet Alonso but i agree that the policing was a disgrace, of course if his family was at risk he was well within his rights to act, but as i say not having had the full facts its hard to determine the rights and wrongs of it all mate..

36.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:15:02
Ed025's said "give them lines" I am sure the South Americans will sign up for that!

37.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:24:35
Come on, that was not a penalty.

I have no idea how many on this thread are English and how many are not, but I just love these fireworks. ? Suddenly there is so much caring and affection for a team very few cared about at the start of the tournament. ?

And just ease up on Ed025. He's entitled to his opinion; tough luck if it doesn't match up with your own. It is what it is. Another Ed would have banned your ass by now.

38.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:30:21
Watched the Nunez vid this morning it was gas, at one stage he's at the back of the player mob and ducks down only to reappear at the front and is greeted with a few punches to the head.

I may be an old fart but I did laugh.

39.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:31:39
Ed25 is correct, all jokes aside. the clips may show what they show BUT let's wait for the dust to clear before we judge. However for the sake of discussion, if the Uruguayan players' families were being attacked by the Columbian fans then sorry, the players have a right to go and defend them from any harm that could come their way. Anyone who says or thinks they would do nothing in such situations either hates his own fam. Or is a blatant liar. Not sure which is worse.

I also see that some on here have already judged and condemned the Uruguay players to bans and all that like Darwin without actually knowing the real facts, something I find lazy and pathetic cos pretty sure they wouldn't like being judged by others in the same situation; I reckon. I propose such people should keep their powder dry and wait for the real facts to come out before shooting their shot too early. Just my opinion.

{Ed025's Note - your right Oli..

40.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 11:54:12
Nothing will or should happen to Darwin. Thought his actions were reasonable given the situation and his family were there.

I can’t remember which part of the game but the commentator said “Pickford got a little hand to it” intentional or not, I thought that was funny.

41.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 12:44:59
I too have seen the video where nunez's sons crying. Raises question whether they'll be able to handle the world cup 2 years down.

42.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 13:10:09
Nunez doesn’t strike me as the kind of guy who just wades into a group of fans looking for a scrap.

If his family is being threatened even remotely, then the questions need to be asked of the authorities NOT the players.

If Nunez was throwing punches (not seen it) then he won’t have been the aggressor in my opinion.

What has he got to lose by being the aggressor? His career? Everything.
What has he got to gain? Nothing.

43.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 13:22:06
Ok I’ve seen it now.

I will add - if your primary concern is your family’s safety, you go into the crowd and you shepherd your family out of there. Unfortunately, Darwin seemed to square up to the Colombian fans.
What are you going to do? 20 players take on 50k Colombian fans? Not clever.

44.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 13:25:43
It would be hard to believe in a massive stadium, that the Uruguay players would pick that location to go into the crowd if their families were not located there.

45.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 14:10:20
@Ron, exactly. Moreover, what are the Uruguayan players' families doing sitting next to the Columbian fans to begin with? I have never seen players families sitting next to the opposing fans. They often sit in the kop with the rest of their fellow supporters. What type of sitting arrangement was in place?

And as Ed01 said? Where were the police, stewards and security? Is anyone asking these questions? There are WAY to many unanswered questions to be answered for people to start pointing fingers at whoever who did whatever and needs to be banned, condemned or whatever. Hence like I said, people need to slow their roll, calm down and let the facts come out.

46.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 14:37:28
@Keague. The women and children were quickly moved out of that area by the time Nunez and the other players made it up. It was the men of the families, so uncles, friends etc that were creating a shield and subsequently ended up defending themselves. But you tell a man who has seen his family come under attack to think rational. Not condoning any violence but many people have lost their lives messing with someone’s family. Quickest way to get someone to go from 0-100.

@OliRed America is a different ball game all together when it comes to seating arrangements. I know it sounds mad to us, and trust me it sounds mad to me. They don’t do it like in England, or Europe for that matter. They mix their fans for all sports games. That could never happen in England. Also the VIP boxes at last nights game were reserved for season ticket holders only. They will have to rethink that mix seating arrangement for the World Cup, otherwise they will have the same problem on their hands and this time the whole world will be watching. Or players will have no choice but to get local armed security to all games who are legally licensed to carry. Regarding the police, 30 minutes to turn up to a situation like that at a major tournament is negligence. Hence why I don’t think Nunez or the other players involved will get harsh punishments. America don’t want the attention on them or potential legal problems at not having the proper safety measures in place for a Copa America semi finals when they are due to host the next World Cup.

47.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 14:44:33
Oli is right. It always pays to keep your powder dry when the Columbians are involved.

Ed025, 'Darwin in his bra' is a blinder ???.

It was a penalty because at least two of the officials thought it was.
You may not like that but it's a fact and the game wasn't hinge on that anyway. England were the better side, for me.

48.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 15:35:23
Going back to the original post of this thread, we've all seen that governing bodies always take some type of action when these kind of events occur (CONMEBOL in this case) . Otherwise they'd be seen as impotent and incompetent. And they've announced they will carry out an investigation before the final this Sunday. Can they make Colombia forfeit the game because of their fans? I highly doubt it. Will they let Darwin Nunez off easy? I doubt that too. We all know that in football, the retaliatory party gets an equal punishment. So it'll be interesting to see the results of their investigation. They just may sweep it under the rug, given that a Final is involved.

49.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 15:49:05
"It always pays to keep your powder dry when the Columbians are involved. ".

Err, I said NO such thing.

50.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 15:53:57
@Alonso, I get you as I lived in the States and in sport games like MLB or NFL games (both of which I have had the opportunity to attend), the fans do mingle for sure. But the U. S is better than that cos that stuff ain't going to fly come the WC in 2026. They need to do a better job of securing the premises cos that's just mad, mate.

Also, 30 mins to turn up at the stadium? Now I know their full of it. They have cops at near every sporting event YET they had to wait 30 mins for them to arrive? Mate again, This is a sackable offence for whoever was head of security and logistics cos I promise you IF this was an NFL game, it would NEVER happen. The police are on site. They need to get their ship together, for real.

51.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 15:46:19
Ed 25 keeps saying he's yet to see the clips yet has no problem making judgements on his limited information. What else can we expect from a blue nose.

{Ed025's Note - i made my assumption on the footage i have seen DTG thats all, and i have said i will wait for the inquiry before i comment fully and i think thats fair, dont be an arse hole all your life mate..

52.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 16:24:02
If that was my family, I would be doing the same thing. If he gets banned for it, so be it but I for one won't be getting on his back because of it.

As for Dickford being a national hero. Come on Ed25 take those blue tinted specs off. He only gets in the England squad because all the other keepers are crap ?.

{Ed025's Note - i have said that all along TF, we all know hes the best of a bad bunch mate but to be fair to the guy he has never let them down, could we be looking at Sir Jordan Pickford in the near future?...stranger things have happened..

53.) 11 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 19:58:21
"Dickford". That's absolutely foul, man.

54.) 12 Jul 2024
11 Jul 2024 22:48:21
There are plenty of bad fights at NFL matches Oli.

55.) 12 Jul 2024
12 Jul 2024 00:08:28
Ah fair enough. I will let you off this time Ed25 ?. If SIR stands for Small In Reach, they yeah he can be a SIR ?.

Oli, like the one on Kane last night ?.

{Ed025's Note - i like that mate..

56.) 12 Jul 2024
12 Jul 2024 07:57:30
Ed25 - it’s just banter, isn’t that your mantra. No need to get defensive or take offense.

{Ed025's Note - i dont really take umbrage or get easily offended StEA, only when people tell lies or are being nasty i would say, i think im very easy going mate..
