Matip's goal ⚽️
Tyler: 🗣 'They're checking whether the ball went out from the corner. What a strange goal'
Drury: 🗣 'And Liverpool lead! Joel Matip has Liverpool where they need to be! '

The difference between Tyler and Drury during Southampton vs Liverpool is staggering.

Martin Tyler sounds like he's about to fall asleep at every game and he's trying his best to get you to do so too. Absolutely dreadful that he's on the mic for every big game.

The Minamino goal was a new level of dispassionate loathing from him. The same bloke lost his mind when we beat City in the league 4-3 a few years back (YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! etc. ) . Although maybe cos it was we were stopping City from going unbeaten at the time.

Is he just gone too ould for it?

Watching Mark Goldbridge support Man City cos he hates us so much is funnier anyway.

On the Tyler thing, I don't even think it's because he hates us (I know he does) but every dog has its day and he can make the most compelling game feel drab and boring. His enthusiasm seems to have all but disappeared and even his 'AND ITS LIVE' feels forced and insincere.

He needs replacing, if that is Peter Drury, then perfect but even an Ally McCoist with someone. either way we need new commentators on SkySports because Martin Tyler is a dementor to great games/ goals.

To be honest I couldn't tell you who is commentating any of our games. Its not something I think about or listen to intently. For me its just noise in the background while I focus on the game.

Agree though that Drury collaborates it brilliantly when listening back.

JK23, you don't need to stop and listen. It is right there and the OP didn't even need to describe it as well as he did. The first time I knew about Tyler's conduct whenever LFC scored was a couple of years ago where he commentated on the Barcelona game at Anfield in the CL. For each goal we scored while Darren Fletcher was losing his mind on BT Sport, Tyler sounded like his heart had sunk or he just heard some tragic news, it was that underwhelming and blatant.

That is when I started noticing it and it is getting worse. Look at the pen shoot out on Sat. The guy (along with Stuart Robson) was literally willing Jota to miss before he scored. Also, when Mendy saved from Mane, his voice decibels went thru the roof. But when Alli saved from Mount, the guy sounded like he needed a nap. I don't know if he hates LFC BUT I can tell he really struggles describe the great moments whenever we have in a game.

He's just miserable. Whether that misery is due to bias or not, I don't really care. He's just miserable and I'd rather turn the sound off.

Oli when I said stop and listen. I meant stop celebrating to listen. As I’m normally bouncing around the house or pub screaming so my volume outweighs the commentary anyway.

Based purely on comments on here I’ve listened carefully to his commentary over last few matches and I have to say I think it’s nonsense about him being anti Liverpool.

He’s balanced (more so when Carragher is co commentator than Neville to be fair) and says many positive things about Liverpool - however he is pretty dull.

The biggest shame for me is Jonathan Pearce. He was a legend when first started but he was told to tow the line when he got BBC matches and he’s just a shadow of his former self.

Best co commentator by miles is Andy Townsend and have been saying that for years. Macca is possibly the worst (though Hinchcliffe is close second) - just repeats everything the main commentator says and offers no insight at all.

1jj, Tyler is not balanced. A guy who was willing a player via his words, to miss a penalty is not balanced. He said on commentary that Jota could miss cos he wasn't part of the first five pen takers is ridiculous. You have your opinion and that's fine but he is not balanced at all. Peter Drury? Yeah, that's balanced commentary right there.

I seen him called out for other games, not just Liverpool. Maybe he is just a boring commentator!? haha.

I think many missed the point of my post
I stated quality and wasn’t on a witch-hunt to find out who dislikes us
I do enjoy good commentary and Tyler puts me to sleep while Drury helps me to enjoy the moment
Unfortunately I watch on streams and can only get whoever has the most stable connection
And sadly often times I end up with Tyler who spoils my match experience that’s why I’m critical of him
Just craving for some good commentary that’s all.
