Hello ed1 would appreciate your thoughts on following.
We over next couple of seasons are going to see quite an overhaul of players by all accounts, both in and out. refresh, rebuild whatever u want to call it. Do u think this may sway klopp into staying a couple of extra seasons to oversee this? instead of quitting in 2024 when his present contract up, extending by 2 years say. i always felt he would go in 2024 but possibly with "overhaul" of squad and losing out on certain things due to C.V. over last couple of years maybe he would extend.

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it would be that which will influence him. It is more down to how he feels about the pressure he is under and how it affects his family life.}

Having seen the professor say in countless interviews over the years that he "really doesn't need football to be happy" I think we can count on him drawing the saga to a close at midnight on 30 June 2024. I am sure he will leave with the best wishes of the club and supporters.

ED002 - A bit leftfield, but I often wonder if the owners offered him a sabbatical for 1 year and left Pep Lijnders in charge for a season if he would go with it and give us another 2 or 3 seasons, like the OP mentioned to complete the overhaul if by 2024 the club have not identified his replacement (if that is even possible)

Do you know if the owners have even started thinking about Klopps replacement, a short list of nice to haves if you like? Obviously nobody knows now who will be available in the summer of 2024 (apart from the Villa manager potentially) - I really hope Pep Lijnders gets it personally.

All the best - KR65.

{Ed002's Note - They will not be thinking about a replacement at this time and there would be no thoughts about a sabattical either. They could look to having him extend his contract but Klopp's stance has been that he will leave at the end of his current deal. I think by 2024 the options available would have shifted rather.}

By then Klopp will be 57 years old, I guess he could retire at that age.
I have to say though, in my estimation, after 12 months, he’ll be like a cat on a hot tin roof, he seems a bit like Shankly with that massive desire for football.
At 58, say, what does he do then, go back into football?
57 or 58 is too young to retire in my view, nice to have the option of course, but you’re far from done at that age, especially these days.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Klopp stayed for another couple of years but equally he could pack in too.

I don't Klopp will think of retirement but he will take a year. Unfortunately for Liverpool that means he's leaving. I can't see him going back on his plans. Just enjoy it while he's here I guess.

{Ed077's Note - and he would have the pick of Amy job to come back to.

Spot on, Juicer. It literally could go either way. Either way, I’m ready for whatever Norbert decided to do come the end of his contract.

who is this Amy that he would leave us for?

Amy’s a lucky girl, Ed077.

{Ed077's Note - I would say Klopp would be the reacher in that relationship and Amy the settler;-)

*any job

He may IR but would you really want to start a whole new project at 58?
Maybe but that seems really trying and stressful, I’d rather be in an environment that I enjoyed and knew, than starting completely anew again.
There’s no doubt in my eyes that Klopp is a Liverpool supporter in the manager’s job, that’s one of his strengths.
Difficult to break that bond and start again somewhere else.
Whatever happens at Liverpool now, Klopp has cracked it.
He’s a legend in his own lifetime in Liverpool, so there’s no pressure in that regard, other than his own high expectations.
He could go behind the scenes, as Paisley did, and even do that job from home in Germany, so part time working almost. That appeals.
I can’t see the appeal of a totally new challenge at 58 though, that feels as if it could damage your health rather than add to your life, as you should be looking to do by then?

Klopp is the glue that holds the club together on the field. The man has been fantastic since his arrival and the players and fans seem to love him.
FSG pulled a rabbit out of the hat appointing him. But I doubt there’s any other manager in world football that could have or can moving forward replicate how competitive we’ve been on the Net spend we’ve had. Once Klopp leaves I can’t see FSG pulling another rabbit out or changing their financial stance.

I for one will be enjoying Klopp because we won’t realise what we had or what we have once he has gone.

Obviously it’s still a long way off Ed001, but do you think there’s a possibility that Lijnders could take over from Klopp once he leaves? As i understand it most of the tactical innovations that have led to our success have come from him, when he replaced Buvac. I feel like it would be a mistake to not at least try our hand at continuity before pursuing an outside option. Our glory years were built on continuity of staff and had Tito Vilanova had the opportunity to succeed Pep properly i feel as though Barcelona would be in a far better place right now. Would seem silly to appoint a manager from the outside without giving him a try in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - probably will be him I think.}

I always hoped and this is just DREAMING, that Mbappe became free in the summer and one of his requests was that for him to agree to move to us in the summer was Klopp stayed on for a additional two seasons minimum

Only a dream obviously.

Spot on, JK and I mentioned the same thing before. With the owners model that we have, ONLY Klopp could have made it work and actually outperform the metrics by insane margins. Any other manager would have failed IMO and that includes Pep. The guy is a living legend and that statue couldn’t come any sooner. He has given me the best period of my LFC supporting life since 1990.
