So it’s not city or Chelsea nor psg but Newcastle are the richest club in the world!
Call me naive etc but how is this possible! The owners are rich how’s that make the club rich? I thought due to rules doesn’t matter what the owner has!
Am I missing sumthn?

I don't think you're missing anything mate, other than that the media are either misinformed or duplicitous. It sells papers to print sensationalist stories like Newcastle being rich all of a sudden. The owners will invest a lot of money though and it's highly likely there will be a few dodgy sponsors or breaches of FFP along the way. In reality the richest clubs are those such as Man United, Chelsea and Ajax. Teams who have clear and profitable business models that are all above board.

How come? A cynic might think it’s probably the impending and all absolutely above board sponsorship deals that will no doubt start with the renaming of St James park under a £1bn 10 year sponsorship deal with Saudi Aramco and £100m a year a shirt sponsorship with Dussur Investments.

All absolutely above board and not at all cheating, of course.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid it is not like that at all.}

You forgot to add teams that have an alternative set of accounts also MKS.

It is cheating. Sponsor yourself and crack on hey. A mockery of the rules imo but it OK cos its city.

ManU and Chelsea are not rich - they are hugely in debt either being serviced or debt due to owner at some point.
