Gutted we didn't bring Couts back. I know he left in a bad way but has a lot to prove and would've junked at the chance to play for us again and make good to his damaged reputation!

Off the bench against Utd after 60 mins. Within 20 minutes he's got an assist and a goal!

I do get the arguement that he may block Harvey Elliot from playing consistently but as it stood when Couts signed for Villa, Elliot is out for a while yet and won't be rushed back and we need a body or 2 for sure!

That said, need a big performance tomorrow. Title MAY be gone but we have to get back to winning ways and put some pressure on.

Right where he needs to be. Beating United and somewhere that has good back rubs for his whiny a**.

I agree. He’s a lot better than ox Minamino origi.
We haven’t made a good move in the transfer window for ages!

30 minutes of looking good in the 4 years since he's gone and and it means we should've re-signed him.

Can we please have a "no kneejerk" week on here at some stage? For charity or something?

Don't think it's much of a "kneejerk".

We need more goals in our team and let's see how many Coutinho is involved in by the end of the season eh!

I was glad to see the back of him when he left but feel that now, and the way things have been for him since he left, he will be more motivated than ever to revive his own career!

Won as many champions leagues and more league titles than the best Liverpool team in over a generation despite only looking good for 30 minutes. Not bad.

OMM, are you familiar with the fallacy of composition and division.

Or to put it another way, was Djimi Traore the best left full back in Europe in 2004/ 2005? He did win the CL after all.

Ever made great signings, Thiago, konate, jota, everyone can’t be a world beater. Some of the crap people spew.

And exactly what did he do to win those titles? Absolutely nothing. They would have won them, whether he was there or not.

A realy glaring example of that would be Shaqiri's trophy cabinet, he won a fair few between Liverpool and Bayern.

Coutinho’s resume, like Coutinho’s highlights reel, flatters to deceive.

The reason Coutinho isn’t back at Liverpool is that the club didn’t want him.

That is to say, the current manager who managed the player, sold him and then went on to win the CL and PL without him didn’t have any interest in bringing him back.

I know a lot of us have personal experience of the bloke and have managed PL clubs and are perfectly positioned to make a different call but, unfortunately until 2024 we will all have to put up with JK’s decisions. I’m sure once he has gone he’ll be declared a legend .

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty confident Couts would have done better than the Ox, Milner, Jones, and Keita till the end of the season. But that’s just my opinion and like you say klopp knows better as he managed and tutored him. I’m 99% sure we would have been offered Couts on loan with an option to buy but we declined. Why? Maybe it was finances as we’re tighter than a mouses fart, maybe a player is coming in real soon or maybe just maybe like you say mate klopp didn’t fancy him.

Interesting to read what Klopp said at the beginning of this week about not looking for a six month solution, which I think Coutinho would have been at best.
I suspect if Jones and Elliot can stay and can get fit respectively, Hendo can shake off the after effects of C.V. and Fabs, and at any given time, two of Ox Keita, Thiago and Millie are available then there wouldn’t have been many opportunities for Coutinho and he wouldn’t have been a cost effective option even if JK had wanted him (which I just don’t think he did) .

I'm glad we didn't go for countinho, would like jones and elliot to get the chance. Both could be super players for us if they develop as you would hope. think in jones case it has to start now to do it more consistently, hopefully that bad luck he's had last couple of months over.
