Not the best performance tonight, especially from a defensive point of view.

But I think we need to take things into perspective and cast our minds back to the first game of last season against Norwich. Our defending was terrible For the first 30 mins, they could have been 2 or 3 nil up before we scored. If it wasn't for woeful finishing that first game last season could have easily been a mirror image of tonight.

So because we were terrible first game last season, it's OK to be terrible first game this season? In all honesty, we haven't been great since we knew we had won the league. No team has defended the PL title with the exact same squad that won it the season before, and we are not going to do it this year, with our squad.

Waitiisover.

Please enlighten me, where did I say it was ok to start the season the same as last? I was purely putting things into perspective.

Waitisover, I don't care what happened last season after we won the title. Not in the least bit. We won the league with 7 games to go so what were you expecting? That we win every game? Utd won titles with games to spare and were crap right after that till the end of the season. I don't recall anyone saying "Oh, Utd were poor after the WON the title last season so they could struggle this season".

So why is that a problem now? It is the rubbish rival fans use to denigrate our success and you as a fan, should know better at to not parrot such rubbish. Lockdown was last season and last season is done and dusted and will not have any bearing on this season cos we are NOT in lockdown anymore.

You may think that we will not win the PL this season and that is a possibility BUT at least, offer valid points to support your opinion instead of parroting the same crap the bitter fans and pundits spout.

Waitisover just recently man city didn't mess with their squad and retained the title next season. In that same argument you should consider how many times have teams actually won back to back titles. Only a couple of teams have done it in nearly 30 seasons. Then I'd ask you how many teams that failed to retain the title had invested and the answer is likely all of them which actually proves your view is the opposite. Probably only 1 in 4 or 5 seasons do teams succeed which is not a good case at all. We've just won the league after our quietest ever window also. Fergie had success when he needed to add 1 or 3 faces and struggled when he had seasons of multiple ins and outs.
