Hi Eds,

A while ago there was lots of discussion about Premier League Clubs fielding academy teams in the lower leagues. Given lots of smaller clubs are likely to be crippled financially due to the impacts of corona virus, would one solution being closer ties between elite clubs and lower league clubs. Elite clubs could provide financial support to the smaller clubs, maybe provide coaches and loan players to those clubs to aide their development. I know it's not an ideal situation but better than some of those smaller clubs going bust. Have there been any discussions relating to this? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is the PL2 already. Perhaps it just passed you by.}

I’m not sure how many, if any, lower league clubs will go bust but it may be this is the time when some of these clubs and governing bodies put their heads together and make a plan for sustainable football pyramid.

I know it'd be good for the kids, but there are hundreds of players in their late 20s and 30s playing for those teams and earning a salary that puts food on the table.

The EFL won't want to completely flood the divisions with up and coming Prem youngsters and therefore putting rafts of professional sports players out of a job.

I understand that a structural shift will need to take place at some point, but I just don't think that this is the solution.
