How have Barcelona got away with a €300 fine for tapping up Griezmann, Ed002? Are the news reporters confused because that seems laughable if it's how they are explaining it!

{Ed002's Note - There was no real suggestion of the “tapping up” of the player, it was all to do with when negotiations were entered in to with his representatives prior and agreement reached prior to July 1. Atletico don’t actually care about the discussions, they are looking for an additional €80M because on July 1 his release clause dropped from €200M to the €120M and that was the day it was invoked by Barcelona. They then spent about 10 days discussing the deal and the odds and ends between the clubs and then the transfer took place. So it is not really a matter of tapping up and the fine is symbolic of any minor infraction. I expect Barcelona to appeal on the basis that there is no evidence that they have done anything wrong, and by paying it there could be the thought it is an admission of guilt - and that could lead to an attempt by Atletico to take it to court on that basis as a last resort.}

Cheers Ed002. I did think the news reports must have it wrong. Sensationalism sells I guess.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the news reports say but Atletico are unhappy as they see they lost €80M.]

Maybe Atletico will learn a lesson from it and not agree silly release clauses with players. A release clause that drops by 80m at a certain point in time is just asking to get exploited.

If there was a transfer window that shut on the 30th and the release clause that was set on say the 31 of a month and then in 2 years time the transfer window moves forward by a few days to say the 8 th would that not totally bugger up the idea of the release clause.
If that makes sense.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - this is completely unrelated to transfer windows.}
