Why are people worried about the lack of signings. We have not just become a bad team over the last few weeks.
We will now start this season with a settled and adapted Fabinho who in my opinion is our key player. A fit and ready Naby keita with a point to prove. A fantastic young left back to cover Robbo. A young striker in Brewster who will work his socks off at any opportunity he may get. 3 fantastic centre backs in VVD, Gomez and Matip. And let's not forget we've got James Milner!

{Ed025's Note - thats a bit of a red tinted view imo jimmy, i will agree with fabinho, but naby is still an unknown quantity and has proved nothing yet, the fulham kid is not and wont be ready for a good while, brewster while being touted as the next big thing is still very young and has no experience at this level, VVD is amazing but im yet to be convinced by the other 2 CB,s and jimmy is not getting any younger....now thats a balanced view for you mate..

You'd think having the best defensive record in europe until Gomez got injured, then Matip coming in and playing well all the way to the final of the Champions league would be enough to convince even the most pessimistic football fan that they might be decent players.

Doesn’t it also show how important strength in depth is as injuries can happen any time. God forbid we lose VVD, Mane or Salah for a long period of time this season.

Ed25, I agree that Naby needs to step his game up this season BUT to say you have seen nothing from him tells me you are either you are just being difficult or you actually never watched him play consistently the same way we LFC fans do. After all, you were the same guy slamming Fab earlier in the season while he was still adjusting to the pace and style of the PL or as Ed01 once said, it took you near two years to finally agree that Bobbie was a boss player, which is insane in itself but then again, ot's you we're dealing with here.

Regarding Naby, he had to adjust to the Klopp system and had to play a diff. role than he was at RBL where he was not required to defend out of possession. like Klopp requires. When he figured it, he got better and better and I remember him outplaying the vaunted Ngolo Kante at Anfield last season. Earlier than that, he was great vs WH, LC, Hudd, and completely bossed the whole Burnley team at Turf Moor and was great vs Burnley. He got injured at Barcelona when he was just coming into his own. I guessed you missed all that.

As for the CB's, Gomez is the future for England and is supremely talented with pace, power and passing ability to burn while Joel Matip after falling off the wagon, regained his confidence and played a blinder in the final couple of months of the season and was immense in the PL. You may not be sure about them BUT they are much better than the Michael Keane's and Yeri Mina of your lot, IMO.

I totally respect your opinion mate, but the only way for Brewster to prove himself is game time and he won't get that if we sign a 60 mill player which so many crave. Joe Gomez has outstanding pace excellent reader of the game but just needs to stay injury free. Matip had an excellent 6 months. Agree on Naby but we know there is a player there. It may seem it's red tinted glasses but we have not become a weakened side over the last few weeks.

{Ed025's Note - you have not jimmy...but in my view you have not got any better either mate, brewster could change that of course but its still a bit of a gamble..

ed don't know how you can not be convinced about Gomez he was pure class last year till the leg break. And Brewster might be young but you have just paid am not sure how much for Moise Kean and has no experience in the prem and paying for Juventus in Italy is not a push and if you look at there international youth records Brewster is as good as his and am sure without the injury would have all ready have been playing in the first team.

{Ed025's Note - gomesz was doing very well before the injury grino but we would be guessing how it has effected him mate, you make a good point about kean and brewster having very little experience....the thing is that everton are not on the cusp of challenging for the title...yet.. :)

Long time Ed025 hope you are well mate
have to say i like this post and agree with it
Matip is not fantastic but he is a good alternative to gomez and more reliable then lovren who hopefully remains 4th choice this season
would love us to buy Sancho and sell Salah there you go I said it cue the onslaught lol.

{Ed025's Note - im good thanks john, i dont think many would agree with the sancho for salah shout though mate..

7.) 06 Aug 2019
06 Aug 2019 21:48:18
be honest with you mate for salah is very very greedy and selfish and does not pass
I would prefer a exact copy of mane on the right hand side lol
but I hope this season he starts to appreciate his teammates and the option of a pass more
Salah is class but could be one of the best ever if he was not so greedy.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that john, but he does something that most cant do mate...put the ball in the net, he can be wasteful and greedy at times but he can also be unplayable at times..

8.) 06 Aug 2019

very true mate
I love salah but love mane just a little bit more lol.

ed025 Origi did ok for us last season and I would have Brewster in ahead of him any time mate.

{Ed025's Note - he could be the next shearer grino...or the next niasse.. :)

Comparing our players to Everton’s players is a dumb argument.

So do we need new players to improve then ed or is it possible we've improved as a squad through continuation and not losing anyone as such? If its just signing players you need then who cares whose in charge let's just pull a fifa and pull names out of a hat that will do us a job and not bother having anyone to train the squad, obviously having got 97 points last season and winning the champions league, again, we have so much room to do more.
Sorry ed lad but they don't call you bitters for nowt haha!
Must be hard work to win the champions league with as many overrated and sub standard players as we have.
YNWA.

{Ed025's Note - i like that midlands, but i have never said that liverpool have bad players...just not as strong a squad as city mate, they have added a couple more and there is a reason for that...you have to seek to improve every season even if you have the quality that the reds have, as you know im a massive klopp fan but he may be missing a trick if he rests on his laurels is all im saying, i could of course be proved wrong...but as we all know that does not happen very often.. :)

We have Milner, Henderson, Fabinho, wijnaldum, lallana, Keita, Shaqiri, Ox to essentially cover 3 midfielkd positions so there is plenty of quality and cover there. But unless Keita turns into the player we all hoped he would I'm sure most fans feel we could still add quality to that midfield certainly in terms of creativity even if we would struggle to find players with the same work rate. Like wise with forwards after the front 3 Brewster is a risk and as greatful as I am for his heroics from last season you wouldn't want Origi starting week in week out if we got a long term injury to Mane, Salah or Bobby. Then left back we would struggle if Robertson got injured. Happy enough with cover at centre back and right back though and keeper now.

Our squad is easily one of the best in European football, we will be even better than last season.

I don't think that Klopp hasn't wanted to sign anyone.

I think the issue is that Klopp has wanted to sign players who have not wanted to come and sit on the bench. a lot of fans need to take off the rose tinted glasses thinking that every player wants to sign for us.

Klopp has shown in the past that he won't sign players for the sake of it and is willing to wait for the right ones.

I think that if we have a bit of luck with injuries we'll have a good season. A few injuries to key players will make things very interesting.

16.) 07 Aug 2019
07 Aug 2019 06:58:01
I don’t understand how we can have 8 (arguably) similar quality midfielders battling it out for 3 midfield positions with them getting plenty of game time and fans are happy then 1 mention of another forward of quality coming in to compliment front 3 and fans lose their s##t.

17.) 07 Aug 2019

The community shield put this discussion to bed for me. Both teams seemed to have picked up where they left off. Granted there are always improvements to be made but come on folks our team is pretty amazing. New players won't better our team development will.

Our main strength is our team work. I don’t think I can remember a group that seems so together.
Everyone mentions city’s squad strength but they have some ageing stars and have lost kompany.
Keep the faith Klopp isn’t gambling on our squad it is more than capable of winning the league!

Hey Ed 25 Brewster is the same age as that fella you have just spent all that money on and getting all excited about, what’s the difference?

{Ed025's Note - you are looking to win the title john...thats the difference mate..

19.) 07 Aug 2019

Ed25 - please be corrected, it's champions league tinted glasses. 👌👌👌.

{Ed025's Note - your right faith....well its hardly likely to be premiership tinted glasses is it mate.. :)

Interesting you say not as strong a squad as city Ed because olin the charity shield game City desperately clung to their starting 11 until late in the game and actually got worse after making subs (penalties aside) whereas Liverpool made more substitution, and earlier and actually improved as the changes were made.

This argument that City have better strength in depth isn't true if you ask me.

Is Jesus better than origi? Bout same I'd say.

Their alternate defence is worse than Liverpool

And while being more talented their best midfielders (silva fernandinho) are on the verge of retirement and the back ups are injury prone with exception of Bernardo Silva.

The only one I will agree is an upgrade is sane, who doesn't want to be there.

In addition to this their squad is smaller due to their reliance on foreign talent so injuries at city hit them harder because they have a smaller squad.

{Ed025's Note - they have also just signed 2 more quality players nevada, and they do have a vastly superior squad mate and your kidding yourself if you think different, its also pointless going back to the charity shield game my friend, there was a winner and a loser...in case you missed it liverpool were the latter..
