Whilst i get why the apology, i do feel that something along the lines "sorry but, you know, i was a child. Heck, still am" would have covered it too.

That's a pity about Elliott, this sort of thing probably goes on behind closed doors all the time but nowadays there is usually someone recording.

With all the hype about him at Fulham he should have known better and conducted himself in a more befitting way.

Hopefully by releasing this statement people accept that he made a misjudgement and has apologised, with a bit of luck he won't be targeted by fans of other clubs when he gets chances for our first team.

Let's hope it's an experience that he can learn from at an early stage of his career. Someone at Liverpool should have a word to let him know the level of scrutiny that he will be under at such a young age.

I don't think there would have been as much interest in the story if he hadn't signed for us but that is not excusing the fact that he done it.

At 16 years old I was drinking 3L of strongbow and climbing on top of other people's houses to see if I could make the jump to the next roof. I'll let Elliott off for fear of being a complete hipocrite!

I’m not being biased because he’s now our player, nor have I actually seen the social media post, but haven’t we all done stupid things as a 16 year old? When I think back to when I was that age I cringe at some of the things I said, did and even thought. Give the kid a break and hope he matures and learns from his mistake.

Completely agree slowdog. It wasnt the best thing to post, but he's a boy, let's not forget he can't drink, drive, barely be allowed to buy a lotto ticket and couldn't sevre in the armed forces. It was pretty and childish, but he is after all still child, all be it now a high profile one. Apologise yes, but that's it now it's done.

Not seen the video so don’t know what he has done but at 16 he can hardly be blamed for foolishness. I hope he will be well managed, advised and protected while he is with us. I dread to think what trouble most of us would have been in if we had been so heavily scrutinised when we were that age.

He was only saying what we are all thinking.

How long ago was the video released eds?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, not seen the video nor do I have any interest in it. He is just a kid and will make mistakes, the key is if he learns from them or not. I am surprised Fulham's academy didn't train him on social media use though.}

Lol I've read stuff online this morning about the lad and people have got silly haven't they. A 16 year old boy does silly things, we've all been there, he'll learn from his mistakes and get on with it, that's life. I couldn't give a damn about it tbh. I'd get it if we were talking about one of the top players, we'd expect better but a boy? Nah leave him alone.

Cheers Ed, much appreciated mate hope you have a good day.

{Ed001's Note - I did far worse at his age!}

Whilst I did more embarrassing things aged 16, Elliott should know better. He is a professional footballer and would have been educated since the age of 11 about the responsibilities that come with it.

Best thing for him is to grow up and knuckle down. Leaving his home and friends is the best thing for him. Going to a club like Liverpool will also teach him humility as he knows he needs to be the model footballer on and off the pitch or else he just won’t cut it.

g1dgo, he's literally a child who has only just taken his GCSE's.

Firmino got done for drink driving at 25 which is far worse. Keita got done for Fraud at 22. Gerrard assaulted multiple people throughout his career. Suarez racially abused and bit people throughout his career.

If Elliott's greatest felony is a snap chat video taking the michael out of Kane whikst he was on a high because Liverpool just won the Champions League, at 16 years old, he's a good kid.

Remember all the Sterling nonsense? Didn't he have 12 kids from different mums at 18 years old? Weird because he's 24 now and he's only got 3 with one mum. Media noise is always trying to drag people down. It's a nonsense story.

Hahaha you and me both Ed mate, we're only human. Kids will be kids afterall, my 12 year old is doing my head in on almost a daily occurance, sat like a bloody zombie on youtube and games instead of playing out like we used to, ignorance and not listening etc but it is what it is, he's young, they make mistakes and will learn in the long run. I bloody hope so anyway otherwise he'll be the death of me lol.

At least he's not 27 like the Lingard acting like he's 16.

The kid needs to wise up quick cos Klopp does not play that stuff. Having said that, nothing to go overboard about.

{Ed025's Note - kick him up the arse and a swift whack on his top knot then move on..

That'll pretty much do it, Ed25. Top man, as usual.
