ed001 i don't get all the calls for an attacking midfielder. We don't play with a number 10 and with Fabinho Henderson Milner Wijnaldum Ox and Keita fighting for 3 places there is more than enough. And then Lallana can cover if we have 4 of them out at the same time what would be very unlucky. I would like another wide player to come in as I don't think Wilson as looked good enough in pre-season And are front 3 have played a lot of football over the past 2 years. And am not confident in Orgi or Shaqiri doing over a long period.

A versatile number 10 would allow for a change in formation when needed. But you're right, we don't play with one with our preferred formation so they would need to be able to comfortably cover other positions for game time. Ideally they'd cover the wing and 10 (we're fine on the striker front) . Versatility is key. An upgrade/ different option to Shaq would be nice. But I have faith in the scouts.

If anyone is convinced that keita, ox or Hendo will stay injury free next season then good luck with that. I don’t even count Lallana in this as he should be let go. That leaves Gini, millie, Fabs as our three most consistent players who don’t suffer spells out inured. If you think that’s good enough to challenge for the P L I think that’s nonsense. We need to add to the squad.

{Ed002's Note - Ridiculous.}

am sure we did that last season with mo playing up top and bobby in the number 10 role and that was before Orgi's rise and Brewster moving up to the first team. I might not fancy Orgi or Shaqiri playing as starters for long periods but between them and Brewster and ox there is probably enough cover.

We have players who could play no10. Klopp has chosen not to (sort of) we are lucky enough to have roberto firmino, who drops deep and almost picks up that creating 10 role. I also noticed mane coming deeper last season, especially early on. Maybe its just coz he had been given the no10 shirt.

Dont remember hendo being injured last season. I know he missed a lot of early games due to wc run. Keita isn't famous for getting injured as far as i know, he had a rough time last season but that happens to everyone from time to time.

I really like henderson playing further forward. He doesn't like wasting the ball does he, i reckon he will get a lot of assists and i reckon he could have his best season in terms of goals/ assists.

Acered
Your point would only be valid if the four players you mentioned were out all season, which would be seriously bad luck and as Ed002 says, ridiculous but I would have no issue in moving a player or 2 on and adding hopefully a better midfielder as such.

i ask again, where is Lallana now? played 2 pre-season games. Had 95% off last season not playing.
so, can we count on him?
also, it was a mighty effort by the team last season. its bound to catch up with them sometime.
if we rely on youth. all good. but let's prepare for some difficult results.
e. g. would you trust Larouci against Sterling? or is Robertson expected not to get injured and play every game this season?

Everyone loves new signings. It excites us, especially big signings. It gives every fan optimism when their club brings in fresh faces.

But, we did not miss out on the league because we are not good enough. We got a tally that Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and spurs can only dream of. that's utd with scholes, keane and giggs. Chelsea with lamps drogba and terry. Even souness, Dalglish and hansen never got close to 97 points.

We have an amazing team. Absolutely crazily good. I said something as equallly stupid yesterday "hundreds of players could play for liverpool" that is of course rubbish. I do think though that klopp is the big reason are boys did so well. And if he thinks we are good as we are, who am i to disagree? We have possibly the best manager we've ever had (flinch against a backlash) i know he hasn't won the league yet and shanks won loads and so did paisley. But equally, none of those got 97 points.

Klopp says its not possible to sign any big big big signings. But im sure there's 30mil knocking around if a tasty fb vecomes available. Or a versatile winger. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign 1 or 2 but its looking unlikely. Klopp likes to get new players in early (young sepp was here within a fortnight of the window opening)

Are we okay as we are? Yes. Is beating city to the top going to be hard? Yes. Would we have it any other way. Erm yes? Nah, i love a scrap and our boys know how to do that.

New signings or not, i am really excited for the coming season. Has anyone else noticed this summer just crawling by? can't wait to see the boys back in action. can't wait to see salah dancing around opposition areas. can't wait to see mane skipping past the leagues best defenders and i simply cannot wait to see bobby's new hair cut!

{Ed001's Note - I think everyone is also forgetting that it is not necessarily a disadvantage having players out at the start. It means they are fresh later in the season, when other players are needing a rest.}

Can someone explain to me what a so called "versatile no. 10" even mean? We don't play with a playmaker and since we have Bobbie who drops deep, he plays there during games. I also hear this stuff about "we lack creativity". That is hogwash, plain and simple. You don't score over 200 goals in the past 2 season in all comps. without any creativity. Our creativity comes from all over the pitch like set pieces, our quality from FB, our front three who can each create for the team and each other etc.

I think people are just desperate for signings cos well, who does not want to brag about signings against rival fans or have something to be excited about for the new season. I get that BUT as Ed01 always says, good players don't want to sign for a club knowing they will not start games, no matter how big the club is. Pepe and up and coming player, will not sign here to sit on the bench. Julian Brandt would not come here cos he did not want to be on the bench with Cou ahead of him and he is not a top player nor were we the beast of a team we have now.

The Ed's have said we are looking at players to sign and there is interest but it seems that flies ro=ight over people's heads cos it is not what they want to hear. For me, I'm totally cool with things cos in our position, we don't need to buy for the sake of it or panic-buy cos that is what Utd and Arsenal seem to be doing, which shows how strong of a position we are in. Whatever Klopp or the club decides to do or don't do, I'm coll with it. Happy Summer to you all!

I'm with you Redwolf! New signings are exciting of course but if you already have a strong settled core who performed so excellent last season we are better off not trying to fix what's not broken. None of our big guns are leaving so no need to buy big like the other clubs need this summer. We've moved some dead wood and I predict a first team signing added to offer strength. Van den berg and maybe Elliot can potentially be smart signings in a few years.

City only signed mahrez last summer, the similar type of wide attacker position we are probably in for too. City improved with that settled team, so can we.
