Again, I do not understand the fuss from some of our fans.

City might have won the League, have the won the CL?

Our current squad ended up 1 point behind City. They without a doubt have the best squad but Pep already has problems keeping his squad happy when it comes to playing time, players want to leave them.

Liverpool have a big squad too and it is not like we have to rebuild like UTD are trying making fools of themselves trying to offload and sign new players, Spurs who are trying to keep hold of players, Chelsea who cannot sign anyone and Everton and Arsenal tippy tappy trying to get deals done.

Which of the top 4 of last season have gone all out in the this transfer window?

I agree max.

We just have to be prepared for a potential slow start, with mane firmino Salah and even Allison still not back we aren’t going to be firing on all cylinders. Hope the fans that are saying trust in our squad are still doing that if we lose a few games.

Max mate, you do post some decent posts but I just can’t agree with you. How do you think we’re going to make the step up and win the league? You simply cannot rely on the Ox to make the difference, he’s just back from a lengthy injury and in some cases, it takes time to get back up to full speed, not just physically but mentally too.

Whilst we scored and incredible amount of goals last season it was not enough, all this “we only lost by one point “ is rubbish, the reality is we came second end of!

Hate to break the news but Manchester City aren’t going away, they had an incredible season and that was with Kevin De Brugne, one of their most influential players sidelined for a lot of the season.

Too many draws cost us the title, 3 or 4 of those were 0-0, more creativity and goals from midfield could, just maybe have been the difference.

You mention Spurs, Arsenal etc but Manchester City are the bench mark! They are still the team to beat mate, yes we won the CL - brilliant but they won three trophies!

Can’t remember if it was you that said we should prioritise the League and the CL, again I disagree. oldies like me grew up watching us dominate in the 70’s and 80’s, if we want to get anywhere near that, we have to improve to challenge for the cups as well as the above.

We have a brilliant first team but as Ed25 eluded to, our bench is no where near as good as our biggest rivals. Whilst some of their players might not be too happy, they are winning and have just one the league back to back, just as we used to do

I want us to win the league more than anything but we won’t do it by standing still. For me we need more goals from midfield and some times the creativity is lacking due to the industrious set up and when our front three are marked out of the game.

{Ed001's Note - we will get more goals from midfield simply because Fabinho will be able to play from the beginning of the season. Also the creativity point is nonsense. There is plenty of creativity, we didn't score all those goals purely because of the front 3, the midfield and defence fed them a lot of the chances.}

Spot on, Max and Jordz. For me, I have confidence that we will have a great season however, that is not guaranteed by any sense based on the situation we have right now with players being out and not fully ready for the season as everyone else. We may have a slow start or we may not. I don't know. What I do know is that we will give this season loads just like we did last season and see if we are good enuff to get over the line this time.

As for what other teams do or don't do, I have never been arsed about that when we were poor and I'm definitely not arsed about it now when we are the only barrier standing btw City and the PL and oh yeah, kings of Europe with the best manager on the planet currently (Yeah, I said it) . To me, we will be fine.

Sorry Max, you are now using City, Spurs, Utd and Chelsea etc to compare against Liverpool. I really do not care what the other teams are doing, but the fact is Liverpool won the Champions league and are a great team again.
You stay on top by always looking to improve on what you have, this Liverpool team is not perfect and there are weaknesses.
Ed025 summed it up perfectly, that Liverpool were very lucky there were no serious injuries to our front 3. I agree that Liverpool should not be throwing £300 million away on transfers, but they should definitely add 1 or 2 first team players if possible.
That said, if the right players are not available this season then don't waste money. I still expect a top player to sign and I expect Wilson, Kent and a few others to leave in the next 2 weeks.

{Ed001's Note - ed025 was wrong, it was nothing to do with luck.}

Greenflash, never used anyone to compare.

Which of the teams which finished top 4 last season have strengthened?

Agree with what you say partly Ed001 regarding our goals not all down to the front 3 mate but in the summary provided by Ed002 I think it was in May it was said a player who could cover the attacking positions would be sought. The list included lots including Pépé Fekir Fernandes etc etc most of which have moved or are on the verge of moving. Is there anyone left on the update list provided back then that you believe we are still looking at?

{Ed001's Note - Cornet is the likely cover.}

Do you no if the player is keen to join Ed or has other preferences?

{Ed001's Note - no idea.}

Ed001 is cornet not too similar to origi?

{Ed001's Note - in what way? Cornet is a wide player, Origi is a centre-forward. They can both play other roles but that is their main positions.}

Being a club in the premier league, the priority should be winning it, priority over the champions league.

Max, you refer to several of our competitors in your post. What does it matter to Liverpool whether the Top 4-6 teams have strengthened or not. Liverpool are now at the top again, to stay there means looking to improve your team.
Man City have strengthened with Rodri likely replacing an aging Fernandinho.

Why do you think Ed025 is wrong Ed01? Do you mean the fitness team at Liverpool assess when the players are at optimum fitness to avoid injuries.

{Ed001's Note - they work with them to make sure they stay fit.}
