Hi Ed02 - at this point in time, do we have any sort of replacement options for Sturridge?

{Ed002's Note - Someone like Brewster? I appreciate that as most Liverpool fans you will already dislike the kid, but there you go.}

Brewster. He can do it. Quick, hard working, good finisher. Will be nice to see an academy youngster given a go. Personally I can’t wait to see him get his chance. Let’s give the boy our support.

How about Cornet 6Times?

I’d rather we signed Robert Maxwell’s bloated corpse than Maxwel Cornet. Plus he’s not actually any better than any of Brewster, Wilson or Kent.

6Times, can you pls, say or explain how a player like Brewster (who is yet to play a senior game for LFC), Wilson (who is getting sold, per Ed02) or Kent (again, will be sold or loaned out) is better than an Ivorian international winger with CL experience with Lyon who has scored 22 goals, scored goals and recorded assists in the French League and the Champions League?

You may not like the guy Cornet and think he is not good enuff but these bitter, nasty attacks against him, are becoming tedious and boring esp. since you have next to no argument to make for why you think he is not good enuff, ability or skill-wise. All you seem to have is personal attacks against him which tells me, you have no argument whatsoever. If you do then pls, let's hear them.

Redwolf well said mate I totally agree with all you’ve put and if Cornett is the man Klopp wants then I support it.

I need to ask though is 6Times Harry? If so I can’t believe he has returned to our pages to support or should I say stir things up.

I want to sign cornet just do I can shout “come on Albert” what a great name. Sorry I’ll get my coat.

Good point Virgil. 6Times, what's your view on Mateo Kovacic?

That’s 22 goals over 125 games over 4 seasons for Lyon in a league comparable to the Championship, barring PSG, Lyon, Lille, Marseille and possibly Monaco and something like 5 goals last season. Over his career he’s only scored 4 more than Wilson scored in total last season (who incidentally scored roughly 20% of Derby’s goals) . Where have I made personal attacks? I’ve said his first touch is poor, he lacks vision, his passing ability is poor, his only real ability is pace, which is great against teams that leave space to run into, but offers nothing against teams that sit deep, he’s not going to beat someone with skill or invention and he’s certainly not going to be prolific scoring goals as he lacks composure in front of goal, barring whatever you’ve seen in a 3 minute highlight reel. As for Champions League experience, Djimi Traore and Phil Neville both have that, but I’d pick Adam Lewis over both of them. I’m only saying that selling Wilson to buy Cornet for whatever ridiculous figure Aulas plucks out of his head makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and I’d rather give one of our own lads a go as a supporting cast to Mané and Salah.

not seen Maxwel Cornet play but what's wrong with wanting Brewster kent or Wilson to be given a chance over him. the most goals he has scored in a season in the league is 7 and Ligue 1 is not the most competitive in the world even Balotelli averages over a goal every 2 games. Wilson scored 15 league goals last season just under a quarter of derby's goals. And 3 assists. And was Brewster not the top goals scorer at the under 17 world cup. And kent got 6 goals in only 23 games and was rangers young player of the year and I know the scottish league is not great but you all ways good to have local lads around the team.

6Times, now I know for sure that you are Harry in disguise cos none of what you posted about Cornet is true. You simply made all that stuff up, the same way Harry used to do on these boards. The 22 goals I was referring to was for the past two seasons with Lyon and not his whole career. The French League is not the championship. That is your opinion, not a fact, an opinion that has no basis in reality.

Also, you say Cornet can't beat anyone which is not true cos he beat quite a few at Lyon and at the AFCON. Also, you are comparing him to Wilson (who knows nothing about the CL or an international comp. with Wales) . Wilson scored 18 goals in the English second division while Cornet did all his damage in the French 1st division with a brilliant Lyon team as well as the CL where he alongside Ndombele and Aouar, ripped City a good one.

And to top it all off, you compare him with Salah and Mane whereas every man and his dog knows he is here to support them and not take their spots at least from the outset. Your arguments are so unbalanced and frankly, made up that it will be better to stick with the personal attacks against Cornet cos as far as your arguments go, it's pretty limp.

6Times, the contrarian shtick only works if people are absolutely fawning over Cornet. I haven't seen anyone do that.

Actually I suspect most of the site's readership hadn't a clue who he was until Ed002 mentioned that the club was looking at him.

redwolf how do you know the young players aren't good enough if you don't give them a chance?

The constant desire for new players has me baffled i would look for an older keeper for backup and a full back and that's it nothing else needed.

Woodburn
Brewster
Possibly Kent
Lallana
Keita
Ox
Gomez
Jones
Van Den Berg

These will all improve the squad from last year for one reason or another injuries etc

Why pay 50/ 60/ 70 million on a player just to block the path to the team for a younger player?

Would TAA, Gomez, Gerrard, Fowler, Owen have got a shot with that thinking?

13.) 17 Jul 2019
17 Jul 2019 00:19:28
That's not Harry. The English is completely different.

14.) 17 Jul 2019

I’m pretty sure it’s Frankly Mr Shankly.

15.) 17 Jul 2019

Thunderbird is right, he was also handed scar before, the negativity is unmistakeable. He was also dead set against the Ox.

16.) 17 Jul 2019
17 Jul 2019 06:49:53
His tone is the same as last summer when discussing Cillesen and Dembele, any mention of their names and he was on here in a flash telling everyone how bad they were and trying to get everyone to agree with him.

17.) 17 Jul 2019
17 Jul 2019 15:16:51
Frankly is a good shout, the grammar is too good for Harry.

I haven’t watched Cornet, Brewster, Wilson it Kent play regularly, so if Klopp and the team value Cornet more highly than Kent or Wilson, who are we to argue?

It’s not like it’s David Moore’s and Rick Parry saying it, is it?!?!

Klopp has shown so far that if he thinks a player is good enough, they will play - see TAA and Gomez as examples. If he doesn’t, they won’t - see the others as examples.

Don’t see why people like Frankly need to come across as such supposed experts, when it’s just a little bit douchey!

18.) 17 Jul 2019
17 Jul 2019 20:50:32
I am past doubting klopps signings. If klopp thinks cornet can do a job im pretty sure he's right. However nothing seems to be happening there.

I agree that the youngsters should be given a chance. Klopp does give youngsters a shot.

Trent
Gomez
Solanke and now brewster. Even young hoever got a game didn't he.

But to put wilson and kent in the same sentence as fowler and gerrard is ridiculous. (unless its along the lines of the sentence i just wrote. You get my point)

{Ed002's Note - Cornet is good, well priced cover who would be a great fit - but he was trashed because people didn't know anything of him.}

17 Jul 2019 21:07:41
People were saying similar things about mo salah 3 years ago ed02. Very fast but lacking end product. How crazy that argument sounds now.

20.) 18 Jul 2019
17 Jul 2019 23:13:38
Neversilenced, I have nothing against youth players and on the contrary, I want them all to have a chance. If Ed02 has said that Klopp or the club would like Wilson and Kent sold or loaned out, it must mean that Klopp does not think they can make the step up. I am not happy about it but it is what it is. If that is the case then your quarrel is with Klopp and the club, not me.

6times I've no issue with your view or opinion on keeping Wilson/ Kent instead of buying.

But your argument lacks any credibility in terms of backing up your reasons.

You claim silly money will be spent on cornet, I wouldn't think anything more than 20-30 mil. Wilson and Kent would bring us 30-35 combined probably if sold. Cornet is 22, same as Wilson and Kent. He's played for a few years regularly enough for Lyon and CL and international experience too. Kent and Wilson are completely unproven at his level as of yet. Cornet in my opinion would have stood out in the championship and SPL at ease. For the potential price to pay he would be a more proven and experienced option. And with superior current ability.
