Fair play to Ozil and he’s wife. He sounds like a nice bloke.

Lovely gesture that. No watering down of donations just plain, simple this kiddy needs that, let's get it done.

Yeah that was quality from Ozil, well done lad, if only more people footballers were like that. Nice to hear about QPR as well.

Cheers Ed, have a good day mate.

{Ed001's Note - you too mate.}

What's your thoughts on the BAME rule Ed? Is prejudice still that prevalent that this needs to be a rule? don't get me wrong, I'm all for equality in every aspect but I would've thought that positions would be filled based on merit?

{Ed001's Note - any discrimination is wrong but there is only 4 managing in the 92 clubs in the top four divisions. You can't tell me that there are not more than 4 from BAME that are capable? We have seen Pulis, Allardyce etc wander round from club to club instead of looking elsewhere, that is the issue imo. Clubs are just not willing to take a chance.}

Cheers Ed, I think UTD have done good business signing Daniel James for 15 mill.

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly quick and Bielsa identified him as good enough for the Prem, so he should be a good one.}

Completely changed my opinion of ozil in 2 seconds. Good man. Bless himwonderful player, would be great in our team.

Yeah he does look good but fear for him at United. I can't think of one player who has improved going there since Fergie left.

Morning Ed001 and Red's. There is absolutely no reason more players can't do this so massive respect to Ozil and wife.

Do people not think ozil we ould be perfect for our system. I do. A player like him is exactly what we need to win the league next year. Premier league experienced, intelligent, a more subtle version of coutinio, but just as deadly (as he was in a red shirt as opposed to a red and blue shirt) i think his creativity around the box would be unreal with our front 3.i also think firmino would score more goals as less of the playmaking would be on his shoulders.

{Ed002's Note - It is like lemmings.}

add to the fact the way Chris houghton is treated at various clubs I mean look at where Sol campbell had to start in relation to where lampard has started
There is a major issue perception wise with BAME ex players going into management.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, Sol Campbell started low down because he is seen as a bit odd. Nothing to do with the colour of his skin and everything to do with the way he conducts himself. Otherwise he would have got a higher level job simply because of his profile as a former England player.

It is more the way they are discarded if they don't have immediate success that worries me. We all see the same white managers on a merry-go-round of failure, but they still keep getting jobs. The same doesn't seem to apply if you are not white. You don't seem to get the 45 chances that a lot of the failed white guys are getting if you have a different colour of skin.}

Can you elaborate on that ed02 please mate.

{Ed002's Note - I doesn't need elaborating on.}

Never really thought about it like that Ed but you raise good points in relation to Pulis and Allardyce. Are their any managers/ ex players that fall under the category of BAME can make it in management? I'm personally interested in seeing how Vincent Kompany goes in that aspect.

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea as I have done no research on the subject, but there must be some as plenty of them have retired in recent years but how many have actually ended up back in the game?}

You mean im not the first person to mention ozil as an option ed02? Sorry to sound thick.

But it does need elaborating for me. I think i know what you mean but. Apologies.

{Ed002's Note - Nobody has mentioned Oezil because there is zero interest, zero chance and he would be hopeless just a little further nort. You have suggested him because he has done something nice.}

08 Jun 2019 12:56:16
Thanks ed02. I mentioned him because thinking about it, he would be an excellent addition. I know he is more likely utd bound.

But we are one of the best teams on the planet now, we have money. We could sign near on anyone.

When i said i changed my opinion is because he always came across a bit aloof. I dunno. But what he did was a beautiful thing. Im sure most top players do a lot for charity.

{Ed002's Note - He is not moving to Manchester United either - they have no interest in him.}

15.) 08 Jun 2019
08 Jun 2019 13:12:32
Do you expect him to stay at arsenal ed02. Would you make a guess as whefe he'd go if he did leave. Bayern i suppose.

{Ed002's Note - Bayern has no interest in him.}

I agree with you Robbie. He is a great player but I just don't think he'd ever fit into THIS team (not saying you're wrong, just my opinion mate) . I know it'll never happen, we all do but yes, I agree, a fantastic underrated player. Just like Hendo, they're both underrated, people fail to see what they can do on the pitch or are ignorant to it and just join the bandwagon.

Re: more players should do this kind of thing more often - a large amount of players from top divisions do. They just don't usually talk about it because then they get accused of doing it for publicity or tax write offs.

Lovely gesture by Ozil, not the first nice story of its nature I've heard about the bloke either. That said he's on insane wages, nearing the wrong side of 30 and out of form. Not a viable option for us in the slightest.

Nevada, Juan Mata started a cause where something like 5% of the weekly salary gets donated to charity and he has encouraged several other players to sign up to it I believe, though sadly not too many.
