It’s clear that we should have gone for the win against United away and City away. The problem is that I still think Klopp’s tactics were spot on at the time and he shouldn’t have changed them even with hindsight. City should not have won 18 out of their last 19 games (second half season) . That is absurd and they are worthy champions.

This season has topped all seasons for me. Not only have we got 97 points which is crazy but we have also made it to Champions League final. No team has done the combination before.

I am now desperate for a Win in Madrid. If any team deserves a trophy it is this Liverpool team and if any manager deserved a trophy it is Klopp.

{Ed001's Note - I think people are forgetting that we only hit a bad patch because we lost the right side of our defence to injury. It was not tactics that caused issues, it was that which disrupted our rhythm. Gomez, Matip, Lovren and Trent all out at once was a huge problem.}

Very point that ed. I'm very proud of the lads but also gutted. I just hope we win the UCL because it will give this already great team that little but more of an edge going into next season. COYR.

Don’t forget mahrez missed a pen at Anfield. It’s all ifs buts and maybes city have won 14 on the bounce, all you can say is fair play to them and we go again next season.

Every other time I’ve seen us come close we usually have a bad season the next, but that’s when we have lost a huge player for us. Hopefully it won’t be the same next year and we can add one or two. Cover for the defence is a must and for the front three.

City may go and buy again but we will be after them from the first till the last. Nothing less then a win is now the standard city have set.

I thought Trent and Lovren played agains't City. The Man U match was a shocker they had massive problems and we didn't have a shot it was nothing to do with the defence.

{Ed001's Note - we drew 7 games, as well as lost 1. I am quite sure at least one of those was down to not having a defence.}

It wasn't only that. The fans got nervous especially in the Leicester home game. Salah and Firmino couldn't control a bag of sand or hit a barn door for about 6 games. Then against Man U and Everton the midfield Hendo and Gini forgot to turn up. Mctomoney schooled them and has never played well since.

We were much better playing catch up than we were playing when in the lead.

{Ed001's Note - it really doesn't matter about any of that. We only needed one result to improve. Just one.}

Yes correct, we reflect, improve and move on. It feels different to the other nearly years.

There is a nice apartment in the city going spare tonight if anyone wants it :)

I’d like to delve deeper into my post. What I’m trying to say is that the bar has now been raised so high that to win the league (and get close to 100 points) there is no such thing as a “happy to take a draw in a tough game”. Literally every game is crucial.

Ed you’re right that some of our drawn games were more due to a depleted squad than anything else. I still think though that we went for a draw against City knowing we had a 7 point lead and we settled for a draw against United as they were on fire at that point.

The post wasn’t supposed to be an inquest on why we dropped points more a verdict on the change of rules to win the league. Have to go for 3 points every game.

As a pundit pointed out before todays match, the difference between us winning the premiership and not doing so might be perceived as being 11 millimeters and VAR. As you said "one result. just one"

And there were so many games that could have been draws rather than wins, and one of our draws could have been a loss. If Wanyama scores against us at Anfield the Spurs game could have been a defeat.
We could go back and analyse every game. We had luck, good and bad but we played our hearts out.
Just somehow City have bettered us by one point.
We are improving and will keep improving.
Love this team and club.
So excited for the future.
Plus we've made the final of the champions league in successive seasons.
incredible.

Its like Carra said we have spent the last 4 months waiting on someone to beat City when we didn't do it ourselves, we took one point out of six off them. If we change that next season that could well be all that is needed to improve 2nd to 1st.

Next season our target needs to be 114 points because that will be man cities target.

City beat us at the etihad. Had we drawn we would have won the league. They deserve the title. But the mighty reds are back and i think we will only improve. City's season was slightly worse than their previous one.

We won 30 games, that’s incredible! Take this team into next season, we have a great starting point. Remain unbeaten at home, make Anfield a fortress again! We can only aim to beat ours previous best and keep improving.
