A question for the ed’s and everyone else.

Which player could have gone on to be really special if it wasn’t for injuries, mine would be Gazza, he had a good career but could of been really special if he hadn’t wrecked his knee.

I have heard city fans talk about Paul Lake as well.

Thx

Andy O.

The real Ronaldo!

Jamie redknapp. Robbie fowler and even Micheal Owen. All great players but could and should have reached the next level.

I really think redknapp would have been very special with a few more tough seasons under his belt.

Honorouble mentions to Jamie Redknapp and Darren Anderton, but the absolute standout is Rob Jones.

Gary Neville wouldn’t have had the England career he had (and probably not even the punditry role as his profile wouldn’t have been as high) if Jones hadn’t had career ending injuries. Such a shame.

Danny Sturridge? Was scoring bags of goals before all the injuries hit. Widely regarded as England’s top striker and best finisher till it all went wrong.

I would have liked to have seen how good Michael Johnson from City could have been.

From my lifetime it's Fowler by a mile, I know there are perhaps better choices like Jones but they predate me.

Although Gareth Bale is a good shout to me - hardly ruined his career at all but his constant low/ mid level injuries across his career stunted him to some extent and I'd love to know if without them he'd have challenged the Messi/ Ronaldo lockdown.

Nii Lamptey.

Great question, despite his brilliance, I think van baston could have been truly great if he’d had fewer injuries imo.

Van Persie only managed to stay injury free at the end of his career. He was absolutely lethal once he got over the constant injuries too.

For Liverpool it would be Fabio Aurelio. He had all the attributes to make a great player if only they could have got him off the treatment table.

Gianluigi Lentini. He was absolutely amazing then had a really bad car crash when he was 24. He was just never the same afterwards.

At the time, he was the world's most expensive player when he moved from Torino to AC Milan.

Adriano. Granted there were other problems but I think it was a bad injury which started it. The man seemed like a beast tho.
