Hi Ed1

sooo whos the top 5 keepers in the prem then? where do you think allison will sit much higher than migs and karius obviously but is he going to be as good as de gea etc? excuse my ignorance i've not see him play bar against us in champ league semi and brazil at worldcup but neither are enough to judge!

{Ed001's Note - De Gea is top of the tree but Alisson is not far off. The rest are a way off those two. Courtois probably stands out as 3rd. There is a bunch all pretty much of a muchness after that, just different types, such as Lloris, Leno, Heaton.}

My Prem top 8 would be De Gea, Allison, Courtois, Lloris, Pope, Ederson, Pickford, Leno (in that order)

{Ed001's Note - Pickford? Really? And Pope above Heaton? Pope is a great shotstopper but abysmal in every other aspect.}

For me edd is nearly right but I'd put courtois and lloris ahead of Alisson.
To be fair though courtois is probably off soon. By next season I think most people will see him as 2nd best in the Premiership.

I'd put Alisson in the top 5 in the world, in the premier league he'd be without a doubt 2nd. Alisson had a brilliant season with Roma, if he continues on that track he'll be better than De Gea.

Lloris ahead of Alisson Walter? personally I have never really understood all the hype about him, he's good there's no doubt but world class he is not. Courtois is a great keeper but he's not at Alissons level.

Ed001, I was only including first choice keepers. Heaton is probably better than them both when fit and on form, but It's been over a year since I saw him play.

{Ed001's Note - and he started the season as Burnley number one.}

For me it’s De Gea, Ederson, Courtois, Lloris, Pickford based on last season hopefully Alisson will solt into the mix towards the top and I think Leno could do too.

I know Ed, but last time I saw him play was probably mid 2016/ 17 season. I can barely remember how good he was so I dodn't want to include him just because you did or else It's not really a true reflection of my opinion! If that makes sense?

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate, just pointing out that he was way ahead of Pope before his injury and he really is a much better keeper overall.}

He was fantastic before his injury Ed, if I remember eightly. His performance against Man Utd in 16/ 17 was the best collection of saves from one match that I've ever seen. I didn't see the game, just the highlights, but there were at least 5 world class saves. I can't remember the last time I watched him play a full 90 though. Probably when we beat them 2-1 with that long range shot from Can. That's the only reason I didn't include him.

{Ed001's Note - he was one of the most improved players in recent years, such a shame about his injury.}

I just looked at the team sheets from that day we bear Burnley 2-1, Tris, to check Heaton even played (he did) . We had Mignolet in goal. Clyne, Matip, Klavan, Milner in defence. Gini, Can, Lallana in midfield. Mane, Origi, Coutinho up front.

That was 16 months ago. That has amazed me how far the team has come so quickly. The only ome of those players I see starting regularly this season is Mane. That is an insane turnaround.

{Ed001's Note - it is a massive improvement made since then.}

Shot stopping us just a part of being a keeper, calm and cool with your feet and distribution also commanding your box and organizing the defence so with all this etc. top 5 would look a lot different if you ask me but that's just my opinion.

Salah just my opinion but even lloris when he has the odd moment in goal is still better.
For me they are basically neck and neck in all attributes except I feel Lloris can catch a ball from crosses and shots better.
With the right coaching I am hoping Alisson will improve his catching. In 2 years he has the potential to be the best.
