A quick question for eds002 and a welcome relief from transfers, I’ve read Amazon are looking to bid in the next round of tv rights, is this streaming rights or are they going all in and taking on sky and bt for the whole show.

{Ed002's Note - Amazon are potential bidders when television rights come up for various sports - they already have some sports such as tennis in their growing portfolio. Again Google and Netflix are potential bidders as well. The Premier League rights will be too expensive for them to be bidding the whole thing but if small packages were to be sold they are potential buyers. They would each be looking to be using their streaming capabilities but would need to abide by the PL/FL rules for streaming within the UK - in the same way as clubs who sell live streaming of their games do now. In the longer term things will change significantly, but not before 2022.}

May I ask Ed, what happens in 2022?

{Ed002's Note - it is the next call for TV rights. Doncaster Rovers are the surprise winners of the FA cup, Stephen Gerrard gets an early release from prison (again) and Liverpool manager, John Terry, is knighted.}

In Germany, a company called DAZN hold the PL rights. Sky Sports Germany lost them about a year ago. We call DAZN the Netflix of sports.

Costs 10€ a month the streams are really good. I think we will see a similar developement in the UK at some point in the future.

{Ed002's Note - Not for live games.}

Not doubting you Ed’s but surly amazon and google have deep enough pockets particularly 4/ 5 yrs down the line if they start getting the infrastructure in place.

{Ed002's Note - It is not their core business just an add on.}
