I don't understand the thinking behind the tapping up. It makes other teams not want to do business with us, creates a bad reputation for the club, and what benefits have we actually gained by the cheating that we wouldn't have gotten if we'd just done things the right way in the first place? Instead, it seems like we've paid heavily both financially and relationship-wise. I like Klopp as a manager but something desperately needs to be done by the club to stop this behaviour.

Tapping up aside, he's a smashing player. has been for years. Would be a good signing in my eyes, could still be pulling strings in 4 or 5 years.

Zpec - I am not saying it is right and I really wish Klopp stopped doing it. But we are PL, European and world champions we wouldn't have won any of those without the original tapping up, but enough is enough now.

Not sure VVD would be here now without the OTT pursuit. Without VVD I doubt we would be in this position. Klopp should not be doing it now regardless.

The only place I've seen anything about us tapping up, ( apart from the vvd fiasco) is on here. So the question is why are we not been reported and why isn't it in the main stream media, they love rubbish like this? Are clubs just letting us walk all over them or is it hard to prove?

ArAy it has happened to us. Remember Coutinho? Barca’s conduct was disgraceful as was Pip’s because they unsettled him. It happens.
Werner admitted that Lampard called him every day to persuade him to sign for them.
It’s a competitive business and people will do what they can to be successful. If you can’t handle that then find another sport.
I’m not saying I agree with it but it’s part of the game at all levels. I was tapped up as a 13 year old! I’d already signed for a club and another manager from a rival turned up at my house! 😂.

This was all said about Timo and we never even made a bid for him. Was it not Frank in the phone every day to him to convince him to sign for Chelsea before they bid for him. All this talk about Klopp tapping him up seems a bit paper talk to me. If what Ed’s says is right and we have no money till we sell can’t see us buying him without a couple of players leaving first.

Haha. Klopp has won a Champions League and a Premier League in no small part because of the recruitment he has over seen.

So what if he broke a few egg shells. You live by the sword, you die by it too. Coutinho, Sterling, Suarez all left the club in a similar way. Klopp is playing the game and winning.

No elite personnel apply for a job, they are wooed. To think otherwise is naive.

Some of the Eds feel personally aggrieved by all this. Not sure why or what they're angle is but in my mind all's fair in love and war.

Lamps (Chelsea) got permission to speak with Werner whereas we speak with the player, hope he angles for a move and get a better deal.

We are starting to get a reputation for it and we will end up getting punished for it if we are not careful.

Just because it happened to us doesn’t make it right either, we all want our club to be the best it needs to act that way too.

Maybe this is overdone by now. Truly, sn't tapping up a player really commonplace? Especially when you are one of the top teams in the world, players must constantly be "saying" they have interest in the club, causing the papers to go full swing on the matter.

What I am confused about is why LFC get particular bad coverage on this matter. This happens all the time, and is especially prevalent when you are a top club that EVERY PLAYER would want to make a move for. What separates Klopp from any other top manager that has players desiring a move? Has their fellow countrymen talking the manager and club up?

Not saying its right. But it most definitely happens. Let's not be nieve. Klopp is wrong and is upsetting other clubs. But it happens all the time. Ferguson did it regularly. Getting player's on international duty to talk to rival players Neville admitted. Gerrard himself was asked to do it for Willian. Ashley Cole was pictured in a hotel with Mourinho before his move to Chelsea. Pogba and Lakaku were at it all summer before Lakaku moved to utd.

Even filmed it! Not saying its right. As it most certainly isn't. But even at lower league professionals it happens non stop. I was tapped up on at least 6,7 occasions often by more than one rival manager or player's. As were a few of my better teammates. Im now a manager and have been aware of clubs very recently talking to my player's after we had won the double.
