Hi guys I'm well informed from an excellent source who I have no reason to doubt about two transfers to be completed within the next week or two maximum. Both are Southampton players!

The first is Alex McCarthy with a 7.5 million fee wanted.

The second is Matt target and is valued around 15 million although Liverpool want to do a deal for both players closer to 15 million.

Both could be excellent home grown snips.

Lets see.

As long as it's Southampton I'm alright.

We have more saints than the local temple lol.

I’ve got the same source lerchy. It’s call every sports news outlet mate. It’s been in the news all day but thanks anyway.

Is targett decent I haven't seen much of him, hoping he is firstly good defensively and then can get forward if he was too come.

4.) 17 Jun 2019
17 Jun 2019 21:42:52
Cheers for sharing lerchy.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know why klopp never just took the southampton job in the first place and had done with it PB.. :)

5.) 18 Jun 2019
17 Jun 2019 22:27:39
I think you picked up the wrong sauce.

6.) 18 Jun 2019

no kidding Ed.

18 Jun 2019 00:44:11
Nice 1 ed25. Imagine what he could have done at Southampton when they had just bought VVD.

{Ed025's Note - they have had some very good players robbo, their scouting network is very good but it must be frustrating for their supporters when moneybags liverpool just come and pillage all their players mate..

8.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 07:26:08
Ed025, come on now these little partnerships exist all over, not just between Liverpool and Southampton. I mean don't Everton have a history of pillaging Man Utd of its players?
Granted, it's the tosh that they want out but still, Everton have definitely got a load of loyalty points for shopping at Man Utd.

{Ed025's Note - it does happen at other clubs bobby but there is such a thing as overkill, for gods sake let that poor club breathe!, they will be one of the favourites to be relegated next season and its all down to liverpool, its bullying its intrusive and its unfair, get your own scouting network..

9.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 07:31:11
That's why he struggled at Dortmund wasn't it ed except it was bayern.

{Ed025's Note - thats right berg, so you think he would have more decorum mate..

10.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 08:02:23
To be fair, we did give saints about £80m For Lallana, Lambert, Clyne and Lovren so they probably don't mind us shopping there!

11.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 08:15:35
To be fair, klopp has only bought two players from Southampton.

12.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 08:21:13
Yep, its all down to Liverpool, nothing to do with players wanting to play at a higher level or Southampton getting tens of millions for the players earning massive profits off them, haha.

13.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 10:01:26
We sold Ings to them and they could have Clyne and Lallana too.

14.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 10:07:23
Dont mind the idea of Mcarthy as a backup GK, but i would love us to go for Sessegnon as partner to Robertson for the LB position.

15.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 11:44:39
Not exactly top class player purchases are they? City are signing Rodri from Atletico and Cancelo from Juventus, how can Jurgen compete with that, if McCarthy and Targett are our only two signings for this season, expect the gap between Liverpool an City to widen significantly, no offense to both those players but they're mid-table signings.

{Ed001's Note - Robertson has done ok on bridging the gap and he was not even mid-table when he joined.}

16.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 12:21:04
I agree lerchy, that they sound like good deals. Homegrown too.

They may seem underwhelming to some but so did Andy Robertson and Aoc. If klopp and the team have identified them as good targets then i trust in them completely.

Eds, could some deal with Danny Ings be involved?

{Ed001's Note - the Ings deal is done.}

17.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 12:52:52
Thanks for the rumour lerchy.

At the price of 15mill for both decent backups to have. Yeah Targett is a weird one but young enough to make a go of it if he can improve under the set up at lfc.

Maybe a couple of signings like that keeps funds free for a attacking mid or help for the front three usually a position that’s more costly.

18.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 13:01:49
Exactly Robbie mate, targetts first team chances have been limited due to the excellent bertrand. If Klopp thinks it’s a good signing I’m with him, with the transfer fee it’s a low risk gamble plus it adds to the home grown quota.

19.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 13:20:46
Re-bolsters the HG quotient, seems a reasonable amount of money for a couple of decent backups.

20.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 13:32:35
ed001 what's your thoughts on Targett, from the games I see him play last season I don't see the point as I would much rather Milner cover there or even give Adam Lewis a shot as he never looked any thing like good enough for are first team.

{Ed001's Note - I don't want to waste Milner on covering left-back except in desperation. And I am not convinced by Lewis at all. Targett's issue is injuries, he was way ahead of Shaw in youth teams until injury ruled him out as he was set to make his debut. He still struggles to stay fit, that is why I would not be so keen on him.}

21.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 15:07:38
A good homegrown option as backup imo, who won't cost much or expect to start games, yet has the potential to become very good. If our medical team can get Sturridge fit they can get anyone fit!

Lewis is going to go out on loan, he's got a lot to prove so a season in the lower leagues should show whether he's got enough potential for the top or not.

Have the Eds any tid-bits on clubs interested in loaning Liverpool players? The limit has been reduced, right? How many allowed now?
Thanks Eds!

{Ed002's Note - It depends where they are loaned to. I have answered this before.}

22.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 16:43:41
Just an observation about Southampton and Liverpool 'pinching' their best players; I recall reading this a couple of years back. Draw a 50 mile radius from Southampton and you get a lot of sea to the south but you capture 4 million people. Do the same in Liverpool and you capture 8 million people. The academies that Southampton compete with include Bournemouth and Portsmouth and at a real stretch Reading and Brighton. Liverpool compete with Everton, Tranmere, all Greater Manchester clubs, Preston, Blackpool, Crewe, Stoke, etc, etc. This is picking kids for academies not scouting, but I think it is a fair point to make about competition for local talent.

{Ed002's Note - You mean like Lovren, van Dijk and mane?}

23.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 11:53:36
Come on Ed025. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can do anything to you if you don't allow it to happen, in the first place. So Southampton are willing sellers because they allow it to happen. And I think they have been very handsomely compensated with the fee for VVD, to balance out any other previous misgivings. It's the business. We do to Southampton what Barcelona did to us. 😉.

{Ed025's Note - 2 wrongs have never made a right ArAy and i feel for their supporters who pay good money and see their team decimated every season mate..

24.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 17:51:46
I will agree with Targett at this moment ed025, but I feel if Liverpool had not secured Mane and VVD, another top 6 club would have definitely signed them and Southampton would still have been in the same state.

In that case, it would have not only been damaging for Saints but also for us mate.

{Ed025's Note - im sure if everton had signed them 2 then i would certainly not be complaining MH, it must be terribly hard to stomach for the saints fans though mate..

25.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 18:35:49
ed025 is it not like Barcelona signing player of us.

{Ed025's Note - in a way it is grino, but if they took 3/4 of your side then you would really have a case mate..

26.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 19:04:25
I feel for the saints fans, every window must be sickening. But they really need to look at who's running their club and not ours. Football is all about what players you have and who you can buy to strengthen the team, and what youth players you can bring through to save and make money. They can always say no, but when a players heads turned, it's very hard as we have experienced before and will again no doubt. But if saints have a player we want, we should make a fair offer and respect their reply.

{Ed002's Note - You don't want to worry too much about them. Liverpool massively over paid for van Dijk in cash they didn't have and had to borrow. And it was yet another attempt of the Liverpool directors trailing a trail of slime to beg them not to make a complaint about the tapping up. And they have had to do that over another player since.}

27.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 19:15:54
Absolute bull Ed 2. Your smear campaign isn’t working.

{Ed002's Note - What smear campaign - what isn't true there? Every word is true as it always is. Klopp is a cheat - there is no disputing that. Liverpool paid for van Dijk after he had been on strike for 6 moths - a bottom of the pile human being. Liverpool paid £15M pounds more plus enormous agent fees than the club was asking from the non cheating clubs. Liverpool paid in cash with money they borrowed as they did not have it. Moron.}

28.) 18 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 20:07:27
Ed001 only just catching up with things on here mate. Do you no if any interest from us in Targett then?

{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry.}

29.) 19 Jun 2019
19 Jun 2019 01:01:19
I live in Southampton, and yes their fans are pretty fed up of us poaching their players.
We're not too popular a club down this way.

30.) 19 Jun 2019
18 Jun 2019 20:16:31
Ed002, FSG stumped up the cash for VVD, am I correct in saying that.

{Ed002's Note - They borrowed the money.}

31.) 19 Jun 2019
19 Jun 2019 07:03:42
Ed25. Just saying, but Klopp only signed 2 Soton players. Just saying. 😅.

{Ed025's Note - your right robbo its not really a klopp issue, its a liverpool one, the saints are struggling to stay afloat as are a lot of teams and the big boys take advantage of that....when i was at school (many many years ago) it was called bullying now its called business..

32.) 19 Jun 2019
19 Jun 2019 07:03:15
I don't get it why borrowing money is a problem, this is how business works antway, of course they will do it. And it paid out, as Van Dijk is a Ballon d'or contender and we won the CL, so good loan right there.

33.) 19 Jun 2019
19 Jun 2019 11:27:04
Klopp does what a lot of managers and players do, tap up their fellow countrymen while away, Madrid and Barcelona are the worse by a mile, if Saints didn't want the money they could say no and so could the player, like it or not Liverpool is a massive step up and any player with ambition would choose the move.

34.) 19 Jun 2019
19 Jun 2019 20:10:00
The way I see it, whether it's Liverpool or not, these players would have probably moved elsewhere cos I don't think we were the only interested club at the time. I don't get the "bullying" thing. To blame their struggles to stay afloat in the league on Liverpool is a little misplaced for me. But, what do I know?
