What is likely to happen with Meyer? Who has shown serious interest / opened talks with his agent (Asking here as he has been linked to Liverpool).

From what I've heard his wage demands are too high for most clubs to be interested.

was his wage demands £4m a year if so does not seems too high in this day and age. about £77k a week or is that just paper talk like that's why people don't want him.

Never seen him play so no idea if he's any good or not but if he's a £30m player then getting him on a free with high wages doesn't seem too bad. If he's just a £3m player then it's a bad deal.

{Ed002's Note - What do you men by "free"? Signing on fee, 5% of valuation to The FA, agent fees, payment to compensate Schalke, tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable, tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable, Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?), legal fees, VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable, moving/relocation costs for the player, VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable. And then there are his outrageous wage demands.}

If these are the costs involved for a so called free transfer, then the amount Can must have cost to Juventus is beyond my imagination.

Let alone be for signing a player from certain club.

{Ed002's Note - They don't have to pay all of these costs but ceratinly signing on fee, agent fee, legal fees relocation costs - but his wages are far lower than what is being asked by MM.}

I still expect him to sign for a premier league club, but I'd think it'll be more along the lines of West Ham or Palace. I also think it happen late as he'll start to learn that he'll have to drop his wage demands if he wants anyone to sign him.

Do we see us going for him if he reduces his wage demands (in case nobody is ready to pay high wages)?

{Ed002's Note - To replace?}

Ed002 by 'free' I meant that we wouldn't be giving a club £30m or so just to buy him. I'm well aware of all the other stuff that accompanies a so called free transfer.

{Ed002's Note - So who will be moved on to make room for him?}

No idea Ed002, my only musing on the matter was whether he'd be a decent acquisition on a 'free' if you go back to my original comment.

No transfer fee say 20 million.

Maybe sell one day even for 12 mil will negate most of those costs.

So eventually be a free is what it should be called.

Why would a player be a good addition, if he's not replacing anyone in the squad? That's just stockpiling for the sake of it surely and will lead to more club debt and unhappy player/ s.

Love how hot under the collar ed2 gets when people talk about frees and transfer fees in general- Iv learned a lot from you though mate. I didn’t realise about all the hidden costs of every transfer. Even been passing on the knowledge to one of my mates who saw an article and based purely on official transfer spend and all income it reckoned we had another 200mil after Allison to spend on transfers. I informed him it was utter bullsh*t but some people actually believe that shit! Dread to think what we’ve spent on agent fees alone this summer- never thought I’d type these words but I agree with Gary Neville (sorry- give me a second) agent fees should be limited and the FA should impose a tax on them as a way of getting money back into game from these thieves!

{Ed002's Note - Last season Liverpool paid £27M in agent fees.}

Sport agent to established players must genuinely be the best job in the world.

Meyer is not good enough for us anymore. He would not get in ahead of Fab, Naby and Hendo anyway and for a squad player, we already have Gini, Milner and Lallana.

He wants 8mil a year apparently that’s just silly money if he was that good Madrid, Barca, PSG etc would have snapped him up.

Kloppsboss, how do you work that one out? You say he might cost 20 mil, then sell him at a later date for 12 and it negate most of the costs so he really becomes free?

I mean you’re already 8mil down that way and the fact even after 1 year, you'll be another 8mil down with his wage demands xD

The word "free" is made up to give people false hope. Nothing is ever free in life! (Unless you steal it and never get caught xD)
