Looks like tchouameni is joining Madrid, we seem to have been scouting sangare of eindhoven, he looks a unit of a man and going by clips looks great but does anyone know how good this guy really is?

22 May 2022 22:44:58
Think we will be linked with just about everyone lol, whoever we sign we usually get it right :)

Not seen much of him tbf only bits, like gakpo big fast and physical.

Hailstones check a Tifo video on the player. He looks to be a very good fit for us.
Shame re Tchouameni, but few players would choose anyone else over Madrid.
Our MF needs some work due to injury proneness, inconsistent form and age.

He’s a big unit but his first touch is a bit of a shocker. He’s as likely to give the ball away as he is win it back. To me he has that same awkwardness in possession that Djimi Traore and Mahmadou Sakho had. The only similarities between him and Tchouameni is they have similar stats for tackling and interceptions (as stats are the in thing now) .

We should have moved quicker on Tchouameni while Madrid were being led a merry dance by Mbappe, we’ve missed out on a genuine top class midfielder who would have immediately improved our starting 11 and given us some security when fab is not available.

I have watched long youtube clips of him but they only show his strengths, i wondered if anyone knew how consistent he is week in week out and how important he is to the team . It seems his passing tackling heading defensive duties and certainly physicality is on point. Sometimes players from french and dutch league can look deceptively good because of the level of opposition.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - He is very good hence the interest of so many leading sides.}

23 May 2022 12:09:10
VVVV, i watched Tchouameni for the first time against RC Lens the other day and he did not look like he'd immediately improve us, albeit one game is a tiny sample size. Passing was average, his crosses were over hit, when he tried to play a through ball he got it wrong most times, he fell over to gift Lens a golden chance, twice a player ghosted past him without him making a challenge, he blazed a shot a mile off target, and to cap it off he lost his man on a set piece for Lens to equalise in added time.

I'll give him his dues, he did make a lot of interceptions and he was very good at pressuring players into mistakes in their own 3rd. He did also get up and down the pitch well often popping up in both boxes.

I won't write him off as a player from 90 minutes, but from what i did see he'd need to improve massively on that performance to get near our best XI.

May not be relevant here, but multiple media (via Google! ) suggesting that Tchouameni has agreed terms with both Madrid AND us.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed0666's Note - I would have thought that his desire to join Madrid and Madrid losing out on Mbappe would put Madrid in pole position to sign him but hopefully I’m wrong.

23 May 2022 13:40:31
If he chooses Real after Klopp's pitch to him then his love for Real will be strong and there's not much else you can do really. We'd just have to move to the next target on the list.

Not a big fan of Sangare. Don't think he's technical enough to be much more than cover.

Wonder whether Agibou Camara is still of interest. Not a like for like physically but boy can the kid press and tackle.

Anyways I’ve been told CJ is looking for a move this summer
Seems like he wants more game time
You’ve heard anything about this Ed?

💩 1

{Ed002's Note - No. It would be a surprise as he is a very good young player who has had a decent number of games this season who seems to be trusted by the coach. I know he missed some games though an injury but I would expect he would be more than happy with his lot. With an aging midfield I would expect opportunities will only increase.}

Was it an Everton taxi driver that told you that by any chance?

No way will Jones leave in the near future. He's a really talented young lad who is working with world class coaches and role models at his boyhood club (who also happen to be one of the best teams in Europe) . Why would he even consider leaving?

Imminent- real haggling us for salah and we sticking to our guns. I hope we don't sell him for anything under 100million.

22 May 2022 07:20:21
What a tactic, just before the final.
They always have some sneaky advantage and another way of ensuring Salah is not on his best form.

Salah is far from his best spaceman. And has been for months.

22 May 2022 08:40:09
Jurgen will deal with Salah the same way he dealt with Coutinho, Wijnaldum and Emre Chan who all wanted mega bucks, there's the door close it on the way out!

Jurgen's football philosophy is the "TEAM".

This is going to completely unsettle him. They are sneaky F*$£@&.

22 May 2022 09:13:35
Maybe it would bolster his resolve, perhaps? You know, inspire Real to show them what they’re missing.

Besides, would it be possible to lose motivation to win a third or possibly fourth (and historic) trophy of the season - and arguably the biggest one at that? Not for all the sunshine in Spain is my bet!

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2022 09:19:39
Why would anyone pay 100 million for Salah? He can leave for free in 12 months.

And why would Salah sign a new contract? He can go to the highest bidder in 12 months.

Agree2 0Disagree

22 May 2022 10:31:13
Akira, we don’t hold any ace cards here. They know he can leave for free in 12 months time and we will get nothing. We’ve been here before with Owen and McManaman (Can and Wijnaldum were slightly different, in so much as no one was really interested in making an offer to buy them when they had 12 months left), when we took a lowball offer for Owen and had accepted a low ball offer for McManaman from Barcelona which he rejected a move for.

This is literally being stuck between a rock and a hard place, he knows he’ll have his pick of clubs in 12 months time and Madrid will have worked out that he doesn’t intend to renew so will low ball us. If the worst comes to worst I only hope we don’t accept any Real Madrid trash in part exchange. There isn’t any one of their players worth taking.

I think Mo is a professional on the pitch, he will give his all. Off the pitch, he will be keen to add his accolades.

However, was having this conversation on Friday - should he be starting in the final? He's always a threat, and Real would be thinking about him all game, but should we not be going with our form players? Diaz, Mane, Jota?

Agree1 0Disagree

22 May 2022 10:55:57
It would make sense for Madrid. Salah for three years to back in for Mbappe in 2025 when Mbappe is just 26.

22 May 2022 11:16:48
Surely all Liverpool have to say is they won’t speak to Real Madrid about any of our players until June or am I being too simplistic?

If you took Salah's five penalty goals away from this season's tally so far, he would be three goals behind Son of Spurs whose total goals this season does not include any penalties.

22 May 2022 13:04:27
Would you want to be the so called best player in Europe but being 2nd choice behind mbappe?

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2022 14:03:03
Salah was flying before the afcon disappointment. if it wasn't for that competition and then the world cup qualifications games straight after and the contract situation he'd be fine I reckon. And his goal tally would be far better than sons. The guy has been run into the ground and needs a decent rest. If your trying to say son is a better player than mo. forget it. Good luck to mo whatever he decides going forward. Grass isn't always greener. We've been here before. and it won't be the last time either.

The terms PSG offered Mbappe are ludicrous if true (and I suspect they are true as they were desperate not to lose him on a free), £1m basic salary + bonuses, a say in which players PSG recruit, a say in who they recruit as manager, a veto over who gets picked in the starting 11. They’re on cue to create a Messi type monster.

Agree5 0Disagree

22 May 2022 18:58:28
VVVV, this is becoming all the more and more insane. They have already created a monster. What will his next club offer him? 2 Million per week? This is obscene and a serious reason to stop watching the game.

Agree3 0Disagree

23 May 2022 00:43:30
Completely with you aray1969 these type of deals are pushing me further away from the game now.

In terms of money it's nothing short of a Jurgen klopp miracle that we are able to keep tabs on the likes of city who can just splash when they like. Wages will just keep going up and up and the only teams that'll be soon able to afford them are the likes of psg and city no matter what way its painted.

Something seriously needs done about it but nothing will. Isn't the uefa president best mates with the psg president or something along those lines? Says it all really.

If he and Mane both end up leaving this summer, at least one is going to need replacing with a PL proven player.
Mo makes sense for Real, sure. He is a consummate pro, He would be past his peak by the time Mbappe joins, and would be an excellent role model and teacher for the young players . Plus its his dream. Beyond all that though, what a way to unsettle just before the final.
Real seem to always have advantages on their side.
We need a miracle to beat them next weekend, we look shot.

23 May 2022 10:48:13
Spaceman we will need to bring in at least two attacking players with good track records of fitness and scoring regularly at a decent level if Mane and Salah both leave as Divock is gone, Minamino is very likely to go as well. Leaving us very short in attacking options (Diaz, Jota, Carvalho and Firmino), and we have to get it right as well because Mane and Salah are worth around 50 goals a season in the league.

21 May 2022 22:51:34
Any truth in Inter wanting Minamino or is there any other teams looking To sign him this summer.
Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

21 May 2022 23:01:17
Could not really find anything Ed about Inter I am assuming that means no.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Inter.

Taki Minamino (RW/AM) Leeds remain very concerned about losing Raphinha and have asked about the about the availability of Minamino, but unless Liverpool can find a youngster at the the club to replace him as cover it makes little sense to sell him unless he wants to leave due to lack of game time. Liverpool will perhaps be open to a summer sale, but with Origi leaving I would expect the coach not want to disturb the fringe forwards too much. Interest of Southampton moved on. I am not aware of any approach from Monaco but I am aware that they fear Aleksandr Golovin could be tempted away - he may well provide an option given their prior interest. A third party working on behalf of his agent did speak with Lazio, so perhaps he has spoken with Inter as well.}

21 May 2022 15:43:03
Hello ed2 mate after Mbappe confirming staying at PSG will Real go for Salah now or they've other options?

{Ed002's Note - Salah would not be at the top of any list of options. But of course remains a possibility. Liverool want his contract resolved.}

Is there something shady going on because La Liga (yes the Spanish league) has said they are complaining over "non-compliance with UEFA's financial fair play".

Really? ¬_¬ Lol.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - It relates to the wage bills of clubs in respect of UEFA guidance and local FA guidance.}

21 May 2022 22:55:17
Ed002 I never thought we could sign Mbappe well out of are pay league but I just makes me laugh the way the Spanish league are moaning about PSG with the money some of there clubs pay in wages.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with compliance - some clubs can pay a lot more than others.}

Regards Mo, I just rekon the other elite clubs don't see him as influential on a team as he is in our system.

22 May 2022 06:00:08
I think Mo and Sadio may find part of their success and improvement as players might have something to do with the way JK has us playing and they might not hit the same heights if / when they move on.

That said, and as I’ve said before, I’d be really happy for them to stay and - along with Bobby, Luis and Diogo - give us five first class attacking options next season.

Agree1 0Disagree

22 May 2022 07:11:25
WDW few Arsenal player found that out under Wenger thought they was better than they was till they left Arsenal and was nowhere the same players away from Wenger. Not saying Salah and Mane won’t be good somewhere else but they do fit how we play and if they do go good luck to them thanks for the memories but am sure Klopp will replace them and we will be just as good if not better.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed077's Note - Both Salah and Mane are near 30 (sorry I mentioned it, some of you will now come for my throat lol) and so there is a good chance that they start to wind down as the start to exit their "prime years" regardless of a change of club or not.

But Liverpool do have a system tailored to facilitate the wide forwards, specially in getting goal scoring chances.

21 May 2022 15:39:27
Ed002, sorry if this has been asked already today. It looks like mbappe is staying in Paris, with Haaland at City could this open the door for Salah to get his wish and be back of interest for real?

{Ed002's Note - It is possible but right now it seems unlikely. Real Madrid have other options they have been working on but they have to deal with a balancing act that sees departing wide players and bringing in younger players as they work to keep wages down. They could keep just two of their wingers, add replacements and improve on their striking options and some will argue that might be money better spent.

21 May 2022 18:01:41
When Real get Edwards and change their MO, it is going to be tough to ever be first choice for any player.

Agree0 0Disagree

22 May 2022 01:20:54
I agree Edwards leaving is going to be a huge loss, let's hope his successor learn from him well.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - why do people rave about Edwards? What has he done that is so special? He doesn't pick transfer targets, he has ended up having to overpay on every target due to the terms we could offer. The wage bill has risen massively under him and he struggled to offload surplus players due to our wages for fringe players being so high. Not sure what is so special about him that has made Liverpool fans rave so much about him.}

22 May 2022 08:51:04
Never looked at edwards like that ed1 it doesn’t make him look good at all.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - it is not all his fault. He had to overpay for targets as the club was hamstrung with a lack of upfront cash to pay, so had to agree to pay more over the term of payment to get the deals done. But that then meant we had even less cash for the next deal. Hence why we are left paying off lots of deals that are already done, such as for Jota.}

22 May 2022 12:16:13
Cheers ed1 great answer as always.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate. It is a difficult one, he was working with one hand sort of tied behind his back, so difficult to judge him, but what he did was hardly earth shattering. He seems to have rode the Klopp-bandwagon, rather than being a key component of it, imo.}

22 May 2022 19:10:47
Ed001, I think a lot of people are impressed with the amounts he got for the sale of some of our players - Coutinho, Brad Smith, Jordon Ibe, Dominic Solanke, Rhian Brewster, Mamadou Sakho and others. I agree that some of the purchases from the view of amounts, terms and agents' fees have been quite high.
