Hi Ed002,

Did you confirm that Liverpool have agreed a fee with RBL for Keita in a post about Laimer to RBL which seems to have been taken down?

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool has not agreed any fee with RBL over Naby Keita and unless something has changed overnight they have yet to make any offer to RBL.}

1.) 01 Jul 2017 08:43:45
The tabloids are loving it, looks like this Keita news is going on overdrive this weekend.

2.) 01 Jul 2017 09:08:05
When the news is that Liverpool are 'preparing' a bid for the player it just shows how bad the leakage situation is at Liverpool. I'm not sure any other club has this problem to the same extent. Ed please can we have you opinion on who is to blame for the porous nature of information-security at our club and what can be done to fix it?

{Ed002's Note - Well it was Klopp who briefed the press - so him. As for the "preparing a bid" I have no idea what that means. Are they going from sofa to sofa looking for cash? Is some one checking the spelling on the fax?}

3.) 01 Jul 2017 09:39:11
ed002 why do you have to try and be funny and blunt about the wording people use? obviously you know what the guy meant.

{Ed002's Note - I answered his question - it was KLOPP who briefed several members of the press so he is to be held accountable. Are you some sort of halfwit? You tell me what "preparing a bid" means then.}

4.) 01 Jul 2017 09:52:15
Haha, thanks Ed. I agree. Maybe they're wrapping up a cake and some prezzies with shiny paper and ribbons and hiring an old Spitfire to drop it over Leipzig. Not sure RB will appreciate the gesture.

And thanks Gayfish, but he wasn't being rude towards me, I was only using the phrase in the press, which makes little sense to me.

5.) 01 Jul 2017 09:58:17
It clearly means sat with the transfer committee, talking about what would be an acceptable first offer! Prepare the £15 million offer from liverpool! 😂.

6.) 01 Jul 2017 10:12:01
I recall that Klopp said that talks were ongoing regarding transfer targets. I don't recall him talking specifically about who so I'm not sure how that makes him accountable or even what he'd be accountable for.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. The talks with van Dijk were the result of an illegal approach from Liverpool and Klopp briefed certain members of the press in order to unsettle targets. If he also made illegal approaches to the three other players then it would be reasonable to expect retribution. This has been done to death.}

7.) 01 Jul 2017 10:15:09
I would imagine the powers that be sit round a table and decide how much the player is worth and if they are prepared to pay the asking price.

{Ed002's Note - What "asking price" would that be?}

8.) 01 Jul 2017 10:26:26
Even I felt it was odd when late last season, Klopp was saying that "talks were on going with prospective targets". I have never heard a manager say that in public regarding transfers. I do not recall him ever mentioning players by name tho I could be wrong but even if no names are mentioned, it still seems odd which goes hand in hand with the tapping up nonsense he seems seems unable to stop.

{Ed002's Note - He briefed members of the press and gave them four names in order to unsettle the players. Why do you want to drag this all up again?}

9.) 01 Jul 2017 10:49:12
what do you want posters to do? know exactly how transfers work step by step and know exactly what wording to use?

{Ed002's Note - It has been explained to posters how transfer work and most are fine with that. Perhaps you wouldn't have embarrassed yourself if you read posts on the site and searched for such things.}

10.) 01 Jul 2017 10:50:18
Just a quick question:

Who is really invovled on transfer talks with the player/ clubs? Surely it can't be just the manager. Because everything i mostly read on here regarding the tapping up situation or anything transfer talks related really is about Klopp doing stuff.

{Ed002's Note - Klopp was the one who met with van Dijk and then continued communicating with him. The two letters warning the club over illegal approaches last summer both related to approaches made directly by Klopp.}

11.) 01 Jul 2017 10:57:27
"talks were on going with prospective targets". Internal discussions targeting certain players nothing wrong with that.

{Ed002's Note - It is like some sort of joke. So you think Liverpoool did not illegally approach van Dijk? Isn't that a very stupid position to take?}

12.) 01 Jul 2017 11:19:09
When we get charged by the FA for an illegal approach then I'll believe we did. Until then Ed even you can't claim we did anything wrong. Innocent until proven guilty and we have not been found guilty of anything.

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry. The club issued a grovelling apology and withdrew intersest in van Dijk. You are some sort of idiot if you are still in denial of this. And don't forget that club are already serving one ban for making an illegal approach.}

13.) 01 Jul 2017 11:25:21
I may have missed a post concerning this but who were the two letters from and about who? I know this must go on all the time but isn't Klopp treading a fine line?

{Ed002's Note - It was dealt with last year and unimportant. Klopp is well over the line - this has all be dealt with recently but again all of those morons in denial are out.}

14.) 01 Jul 2017 11:28:01
Could that not just be because they respect the position of Southampton so apologised for any misunderstanding and withdrew their interest to avoid any animosity between the clubs? Nothing has been proven, I'd argue you'd have to be some kind of idiot to condemn someone without enough evidence to convict. Isn't that what the law is based on in all walks of life, not just football?

{Ed002's Note - A complaint sits on file with the Premier League. Why do you want to drag up all of this yet again?}

15.) 01 Jul 2017 11:33:23
I don't Ed I'm just putting another spin on it. At the end of the day we've not been found guilty of any wrong doing regarding VVD. I think we should accept this, move on and stop bashing the club and Klopp when in actual fact according to the FA who are the law in our league we have no case to answer.

{Ed002's Note - There is no "spin", the club and Klopp get "bashed" because people like you keep dragging it up. I have no idea what the FA has to do with this. You really don't get how bad the club and the manager have been behaving.}

16.) 01 Jul 2017 11:34:37
I'm not sure how anyone can deny what happened given the club itself issued an apology, it's like you all live with your heads in the sand. I love the club and Klopp but poor mistakes have been made. To be honest I'm not sure why we're dragging all of this up again.

17.) 01 Jul 2017 11:42:20
Liverpool's embarrassing apology to Fulham sees Clint Dempsey tapping-up complaint dropped. 2012.

Liverpool banned from signing academy players. (Stoke 12yr old)

All this is Klopps fault is it. Obviously a fundamental issue within liverpool Im sure the idiot transfer committee or agent has badly advised Klopp.

{Ed002's Note - You do want to drag it out then. Nobody has blamed Klopp for either of those matters although he could yet be dragged in to the issue over the ex-Stoke player whose career the club screwed up if that goes to court as planned. He wasn't even at the club when there was tapping up when there was the tapping up of Dempsey, nor when the club had Gerrard tap up players on their behalf. Klopp is far from an innocent party but of course you want to blame the "idiot transfer committee" or "agent" and absolve him. This really is the sort of nonsense that does indeed make some fans a complete laughing stock.}

18.) 01 Jul 2017 12:48:50
Why doesn't the club put a gagging order on Klopp with respect to other team's players?
I don't get it, it's like they want him to keep doing it.

19.) 01 Jul 2017 13:11:58
Thanks, Ed for the clarification and for full disclosure, I have and will never defend the club or Klopp for any tapping up issues we and he have had. What he has done is flat out disgraceful and should be reprimanded internally by the owners. And to those defending the club or Klopp and deflecting on this issue, you seriously need to knock it off with your pathetic excuses and arguments for defending the indefensible. It is becoming pathetic and like Ed02, I am fed up with it.

20.) 01 Jul 2017 13:41:35
Just for the record Ed I didn't drag anything up if you look at the thread it was being discussed before I got involved. It just makes me laugh that we've got so called Liverpool fans bashing the club and manager for an issue they know very little about. If we were found guilty of tapping up and the details made public then we could all have an opinion good or bad. Until then there has been no proven guilt so we need to forget it and move on. There's no point criticising base on hearsay and half truths.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been found guilty - you seem to grasp any of this.}

21.) 01 Jul 2017 14:08:10
I bet some of you wish you'd "prepared" your postes more! So just to summarise; Southampton are out of order!

22.) 01 Jul 2017 16:25:07
Are we, honestly, still talking about this? I leave the page for a week and it's still happening? Klopp was a jerk. LFC have been jerks.
We need to buck our ideas up and do the right thing by other clubs and their players whilst we still have some clubs who want to deal with us.
It's not difficult. We know the rules. Break them, we pay the price.
Fully deserved as well.

23.) 01 Jul 2017 17:02:41
I'm sure we were done for tapping up Christian ziege all them years ago. Were masters of tapping up. Haha. Not good tho.

24.) 01 Jul 2017 22:26:42
Blimey, this thread has got a little rancorous. Just like the good old days!
Liverpool has picked up a reputation for sailing close to the wind over several years and Klopp seems to be continuing that trend. Naughty, naughty. However, singling out LFC and its fans for special treatment is not really fair. When compared to several top-flight continental European teams, Liverpool is relatively clean. Relatively. And as for Chelsea.
This is hardly the most heavily regulated industry in the world and is dominated by individual owners whose staggering wealth has been almost always been gathered by questionable means, assisted by dodgy advisers, agents and others.
I would suggest we move on from this subject and focus on the tiny nuggets of reality amongst the torrent of transfer speculation.
And "done deals", of course.

25.) 02 Jul 2017 12:21:00
Ed002 can i clarfy something that may have caused the initial confusion at the start of this rehashing. Where you say briefed journalists I'm reading that as the old fashioned quiet chat, unofficial, off the record type of thing not formal press conferences. Would that be correct and why people are struggling to see where Klopp has briefed the press?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, a number of journalistes were briefed by Klopp and given the names of four players in an attempt to unsettle the players.}

26.) 02 Jul 2017 17:20:53
Thanks fot clarifying Ed002.

27.) 03 Jul 2017 01:08:52
Some facts for you kids:
1. What the club has done is shameful. No other word to describe it.
2. We have done that before, plenty of times.
3. Other clubs do it all the time, but that is not an excuse.
4. We do not want the same done to us, although it happened (e: Suarez)
5. A manager does what the club allows him to. He knows very well that this is against the rules, so he could only have done it with unofficial backing.
6. Players and former players have been involved in this activity as well.

11 Apr 2017 21:41:24
Steven Gerrard is set to manage the U18s next season. Anyone know how he's been getting on and whether this is a deserved promotion for him?

21 May 2016 11:06:55
Hi Ed002,

With Sakho facing an imminent ban, do you think Liverpool could turn to Sule? I think you recommended him as a player we should/ could target, and he seems very highly rated in Germany.

{Ed002's Note - I would have had him in preference to Matip but right now LIverpool are not looking at him.}

1.) 21 May 2016 21:11:35
Thanks for the reply Ed, would've preferred Sule on the reports I've heard/ read but hopefully Matip comes in a proves to be an absolute legend.

2.) 21 May 2016 21:17:05
Matip is in the official Bundesliga team of the season. Not seen much of him but seems like he is highly rated in Germany.

3.) 21 May 2016 22:15:47
I think he'll be a revelation alongside Lovren.

4.) 21 May 2016 22:36:02
to be fair ed i think saving the transfer fee makes matip the better deal plus he has more experience u have said we are in a lot of debt.

5.) 22 May 2016 02:21:12
The mail are reporting interest in sule.

6.) 22 May 2016 03:09:59
Apparently sule and tahs agents were at the final. Sakho will be kept. Skrtel toure ilori wisdom jones will be sold. Need then 2 cbs as gomez will cover fullbacks.

7.) 22 May 2016 04:59:29
Voted into Bundesliga team of the year. there's a lot of centre backs in Bundesliga, believe it or not. He must be good.

8.) 22 May 2016 07:23:48
I'm sold on Sule, want him to replace Skrtel.

9.) 22 May 2016 07:38:47
I think with the possible outgoings we would have Lovren sahko (banned), matip and probably toure as our centre backs with Lucas as a utility centre back/ defensive midfielder (I could also see Lucas going tbh) . Is Lucas was to leave then I think we would definitely need a centre back as it is, it would be typical of us not to get one in even though we need more quality in there. I don't think matip is an improvement on what we have already from what I've seen since we got him.

10.) 22 May 2016 14:04:53
I watch bundesliga regularly and matip is easily a 20 million defender. Has a great partnership with howedes, he's very good in the air, strong and likes to bring it out and play a bit. A poor man's Hummels if you would. He ain't going to be no bench warmer.

11.) 22 May 2016 15:31:47
People seem to be forgetting Joe Gomez, is he not a CB?

I know he played LB at the start of the season but thought his natural position was CB.

12.) 22 May 2016 16:41:46
Sule was mentioned by Ed002 ages ago. I think it's a good shout.

01 Jun 2015 11:01:30
Hi Ed002,

I remember you had this fantastic list of all our targets (or at least the ones you know of), but I was wondering whether you could provide an update on that list?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - There are some minor updates but much of this will change by the summer and there are major dependencies on (a) players leaving (b) how much money the club can raise through sales, (c) any change in senior management or the management structure. However, there is known to be (or have recently been) some level of interest in the following players:

GK: Marshall and Bogdan have attracted confirmed recent attention and are viable replacements for Jones. Thoughts seem to have moved on completely from Patricio, Ochoa, Neto (won't happen), Sportiello (unconfirmed to some extent as Atalanta and the player heard about the interest from an Italian journalist), Romero, Ryan and Ruddy right now. The club have also looked at many others including Mattia Perin - who is financial beyond Liverpool.
RB: Wisdom will return and there is aa new deal for Flanagan and Toure. But if Manquillo and Johnson both leave then the club may look for a new RB - I don't see this as a proiority. If Rodgers remains as manager it is not out of the question that Ibe may be tried in a wing back role. The likes of Adriano and Alves have been mentioned by agents as possible options but such players will be expensive and are unlikely to end in anything but tears. Danilo was looked at but certainly won't happen. Folks, I assume because of something in the press, have been asking about Janmaat moving to Liverpool. I don't know of interest but I am pretty sure Newcastle would not want to sell.
LB: Sam Byram has been watched - a move to Liverpool seems unlikely. Hard again to see LB as a priority, particularly withwith the system being played.
CB: A new deal has been given to Toure. I doubt a CB is a priority - at least not before the club clear out some of those already on the books (Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Ilori, Coates, Paez, Lloyd Jones and Kolo Touré).
MF: Milner remains very much on the cards. I understand from an ex-German international that Liverpool were very keen on Lars Stindl but he has decided to reject the interest of Liverpool and will move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer. Khedira (won't happen), Pjanic (outrageously expensive), Vazquez (interest seems to have gone). Even though he has very recently extended his contract, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic (at the right price)and have spoken with Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Hertha Berlin - the Liverpool offer would need to be doubled to give any sort of chance of a deal. Inter now say they will keep Kovacic as no deal seems possible and will make another player available. However, Barcelona will return with their convoluted offer for him. If Liverpool want to do something it will take a significant increase on their previous offer. Filipe Anderson has been watched but nothing will happen with Liverpool.
F/W:Right now it is something like this for the players that I understand have been looked at:
Mandzukic - Someone representing Liverpool has approached his agent, but as of this time, not Atletico.
Ings - every chance this will go through.
Benteke - interest has returned.
Vietto - talking to Atletico Madrid regarding replacing Griezmann and was hoping on Real Madrid turning to him - has made it clear he wants a move to Atletico - and this has made Real Madrid look elsewhere.
Heung Min Son (I suspect it would be very difficult to make happen as he seems very happy where he is and will be playing in the Champions League)
Carlos Vela (looked at recently but nothing more)
Aubameyang (looked at and there may be interest from Liverpool - he is keen on a move to Italy but the most interested side, Juventus, are now out of the running)
Gameiro (his stock is on the rise but Liverpool have had no recent contact (according to a representative of another interested club)).
Baez (Liverpool have recently been told to say if they are still interested in Baez or not - and if they are to make an offer which is much improved over that offered to Juventud previously - I understand that there has been no response and Juventud are now in talks with another side regarding a transfer - this is probably one to forget now).
Kishna (all English interest has gone or never materialised according to De Boer).
Lacazette (another English side met with Lyon about Lacazette and a number of other issues on April 9 and any move this summer, particularly to England, is not viable right now - Aulas has mocked rumours that Liverpool could by the player).
Firmino (he will most probably move with a number of clubs having made formal approaches, and Manchester City and Inter having had formal discussions with Hoffenheim).
Depay (moving elsewhere).
Bakkali (interest will have gone).
Andre Ayew (a free agent who Liverpool enquired about last summer - looks to be heading elsewhere)
Walcott (if Sterling were to leave then a move for Walcott may be considered).
Cheryshev (if Sterling were to leave then a move for Cheryshev may be considered).

1.) 01 Jun 2015 12:58:26
Very interesting Ed! Thanks very much!

2.) 01 Jun 2015 21:51:39
FSG wake up & stop paying double for absolute rubbish. Then baulking at a bargain price for proper talent.
Get some real players in. Here is what a squad brimming with youth, potential and most importantly the requisite skills/ability/desire/determination would look like, players willing to work hard & succeed.

Alexandre Lacazette
Paulo Dybala
Luciano Vietta

Asier Illaramhendi
Mateo Kovacic
Ross Barkley
Mario Suarez
Max Meyer
Axel Witsel

Andre Ayew
Julian Draxler
Heung Min Son
Hakan Calhanoglu
Kevin DeBruyne
Iker Muniain
Lucas Moura

Inigo Martinez
Simon Kjaer
Stephan De Vrij
Kyriakos Papodopolous
Fabian Schar
Ricardo Rodriguez
Mateo Di Sciglio

Andre Der Stegen

No Messi. Ronaldo, Pogba, James Rodriguez, Marcos Reus, Phillip Lahm etc because no realistic chance of them ever coming to LFC. But we could get a couple of those listed, at least

3.) 02 Jun 2015 01:36:12
Those mostly sound better than last summer's dealings. Would hope we don't sign Benteke, but overall it's an encouraging list of possibilities.

I still think we need to look to a player of Benzema's quality. In my humble view, we really do need a quality, proven goal scorer.

Thanks Ed002.

4.) 02 Jun 2015 08:15:26
Haha, possibilities? Get off your cloud and keep the fantasy football on the wishes page please.

5.) 01 Jun 2015 13:01:07
So what's all this about a bid for Clyne and an upcoming improved bid? Untrue Ed?

And Garbutt for LB please. :)

07 Apr 2015 10:25:04
Hi Ed001,

Now that it seems like we won't make the Champions League, do you still think we could be able to lure Klopp and Monchi to Liverpool? Also, would Vietto still be a realistic option? I really hope we get these three men into the club because frankly, I've lost faith in Rodgers and the transfer committee, and I really hope we move on our current strikers (Balo, Lambert and Borini) and have a more potent attack in Sturridge, Vietto, Origi and Sinclair (if given a chance).

{Ed001's Note - if we got Monchi in, I think that would be a far more important addition than a head coach. Klopp has publicly stated his affection for Liverpool, I don't see him joining us, but the club would have to be mad not to make an all out effort to persuade him to take charge. Vietto is less realistic without Champions League than with it, as are all additions really.}

1.) 07 Apr 2015 11:33:37
which striker will be a more realistic option and we are interested?

{Ed002's Note - There is plenty of time still but Ings remains viable but there is interest from elsewhere. Again, Gameiro might provide a viable alternative.}

Hi ed001,

Disappointing match yesterday, but was wondering whether you had done a match review yet? I always look forward to reading them as soon as I wake up but I can't seem to find it today if you have.

{Ed001's Note - oh shoot sorry I completely forgot as I was working on the Worst of the Season Awards. I will have to do it tomorrow, I apologise.}

1.) 07 May 2018 21:43:24
No worries, can't wait to read the Worst of the Season Awards article too!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, that is almost finished now, will just be waiting on the editors to cast their votes now.}

2.) 07 May 2018 21:55:14
Oh brilliant, looking forward to the worst of the season awards, loved the best one.

3.) 07 May 2018 22:21:07
Ahh brilliant Ed can't wait to see that.

4.) 08 May 2018 00:11:54
Fantastic Ed, looking forwards to both.

5.) 08 May 2018 09:06:28
I am really looking forward to this one. When is it due please?

{Ed001's Note - which one? I am just doing the worst of now, should be up today. Then I will have to rewatch our match, so it might be done today or tomorrow at the latest.}

6.) 08 May 2018 10:15:55
We should all zip it and let Ed1 work on this 'Worst of the Season Awards' lol. Looking forward to it Ed mate :)

{Ed001's Note - nearly done, but now I fear you are going to be disappointed!}

7.) 08 May 2018 10:23:49
Lol I doubt that very much mate, I've read tons of your stuff and never have been disappointed in any of it, I doubt I ever will be!

{Ed001's Note - talk about putting pressure on me to perform! Still you won't be as disappointed as the missus, who found out there is a viewing party here for the final game against Brighton which will be attended by some Liverpool legends (Gerrard, McAllister and McManaman) and as it is free I said I would take her as a treat, as I am generous like that. She is all excited and keeps asking me if Bobby will be there. I am not sure how to explain this to her without ruining her excitement. She even got her son a Bobby kit as he is her favourite. Bless her, not sure she quite understands what is actually happening though.}

8.) 08 May 2018 10:41:02
'as it is free I said I would take her as a treat' hahahaha! I love it mate lol. Wow though, what an event to go to, I'm jealous lol god help you when she realises Bobby won't be there though, rather you than me mate. I can just imagine you been there and her asking 'So where's Bobby then' and your like ' I don't know, he should be here! ' thinking fml. god you got me there mate, I laughed at the most awkward of moments, you know when your meant to be serious, I read your post and lost it, you bugger lol.

{Ed001's Note - I would say I am sorry but I would be lying if I did.}

06 May 2018 23:15:18
I don't really want to comment on the Chelsea game because the negativity is so bloody over the top. Did I really read it right? #KloppOut? Jesus.

Re the Fekir talk, I think he's a fantastic player and would fit in with our style of play. My only concerns are his injury problems (he seems to have gotten over them which shows great mental strength) and also where would he fit in? He's not going to sign to sit on the bench so is Firmino who has just signed a long-term contract going to make way? Salah, our most effective player this season? Or are we going to change the system that's helped us score over a hundred goals this season?

1.) 07 May 2018 00:39:55
Isn't he an attacking midfielder who could play behind that front three? In any case, if he was more of a forward I would think the front three would be rotated based on form and fitness.

2.) 07 May 2018 00:58:34
Yes, he also plays as a striker and a right winger (I think he can slot in on the left as well but he's not quite as effective there) . As we don't play with a no. 10, he'll either play up front or on the right which I just don't see happening with Firmino and Salah. Even with rotation, I can't imagine Fekir agreeing to join us without guaranteed first team football, not to mention he'd probably be the one to be left out in the biggest games of the season.

3.) 07 May 2018 05:28:32
Fekir is absolutely quality, and we should be doing everything in our power to get him (even if it means negotiating with Lyon’s owner) . I’d hardly class him as injury-prone, either, he’s played 58 league games in the past two seasons. Him and Keita compared to our current midfield is an enormous step up in quality.

4.) 07 May 2018 15:41:18
I don't see where the problem is. Play him just behind the front 3 (and backed up with Ox depending on the situation) . And if one of Mane or Salah need a rest then slot Fekir in, also. His style of dribbling and passing in tight spaces is exactly what we need against the teams that park the bus against us. Play him just ahead of Keita and one of Hendo/ Ceballos/ Wijnaldum.

30 Apr 2018 20:14:07
Well this is poor timing, losing AOC, then Ed002 and finally Buvac at this crucial juncture in our season! Can only hope we remain focused and work towards nabbing that top 4 position and winning the Champions League.

1.) 30 Apr 2018 21:30:10
We lost 002? What happened there?

2.) 30 Apr 2018 21:38:52
SPOILER: Ed002 is Buvac 😲.

3.) 30 Apr 2018 22:44:22
Does that mean 001 is klopp 🤔.

It's the way Dr Strange decide to intervene and allow us to be in this parallel universe to win UCL. It also the only way to defeat Thanos. AOC, Buvac has to be sacrificed for greater good.

Thought ed025 was a bit dodgy must be John Achterberg ;)

{Ed025's Note - i wish SR, he gets paid for doing sod all whereas i work my fingers to the bone for a pittance mate.. :)

001 and 002 together for Liverpool and we win treble every year.

I finally worked out the magic of Salah: left foot for scoring goals and the right foot for assisting them!

1.) 25 Apr 2018 11:50:13
He has scored 5 with his right foot, man.

2.) 25 Apr 2018 12:14:01
Was just a joke from last night's game, BRover, he's assisted quite a few with his left foot too.

3.) 25 Apr 2018 13:11:41
I know, Z. Just having fun, man.

11 Apr 2018 00:47:21
I know he's had his critics but what a performance by Lovren, he was absolutely magnificent. In fact, along with Trent and Milner, he was probably the best player throughout the two legs, an absolute colossus. If he can continue playing at this level consistently, I am confident we can go all the way and win the CL this season.

{Ed0333's Note - Lovren is such an enigma. I wish he was more consistent we could have a real player on our hands.

1.) 11 Apr 2018 05:52:14
Agreed, I would say the same about Gini, I said the other day I didn’t see what he brought to the team anymore as he wasn’t pushing towards, grabbing hold of the game anymore like he did last season and what happens? He plays an absolute blinder from a deeper position! So frustrating when you know there’s a good player in their but the consistency is lacking. More of the same please Lovren and Gini!

2.) 11 Apr 2018 06:22:07
i thought the same about Gini in the first half did seem to drop back to far and went missing and then come out for the second half and grabbed the game by the balls drove us forward and was immense.

3.) 11 Apr 2018 06:54:45
Lovren has been pretty good since VVD came in, maybe he just needed the right partner all along.

4.) 11 Apr 2018 09:36:18
Lovern has always looked better playing along a better defender, I just worry that he seems to rely on other to lift his game. At some point the club will outgrow him.

5.) 11 Apr 2018 10:29:35
At this level, Lovren needs commanding cb alongside him and he will be perfect! Knowing him, he depends a lot on partners in defence, and karius and vvd made him enjoy his game!

Thanks for the info/ heads-up, Macca.

Tarkowski - please no, not what we need. I'd rather play Gomez as our first choice RCB instead.

Fekir - yes please

Dembele - I can't see him getting a game ahead of our front three so is he swapping the bench of Barcelona for the bench of Liverpool? Seems like a strange one although I do agree we need a quality 'forward' who can come in for Mane, Salah and Firmino in case of injuries, rotation and lost of form

Butland - As backup, I wouldn't mind him too much. Hope he won't cost too much though

Ceballos - decent player, there's a reason why both Real and Barcelona were chasing after him the summer before. Him and Hendo would be a decent rotation policy and with Keita, Fekir and AOC (after injury), our midfield looks pretty great.

Really, instead of Tarkowski, we should be looking to bring in a RB asap (which the eds have confirmed) so hopefully we don't waste money on a CB who's being carried by Mee and been protected by the system at Burnley and buy a quality player for a problem area in the first eleven.

I think Reina's only joining Milan if he gets to be first choice (i. e. Donnarumma leaving) .

Would rather have Reina than Navas, at least Reina can still catch a ball.

I'd love Weigl at Liverpool but I think he's moving elsewhere.

I don’t think it’s fair to include Neuer, he’s barely played this season. Granted he’s a top keeper, but he couldn’t really have shown it this season.

Honestly hope you're wrong mate, I'd rather keep Mignolet and save the money!

Bardzo, De Gea was so bad in the beginning he was dropped for Lindegaard!

Hysaj is who I would go for. Him, Keita, Fekir/ Lemar, Ceballos/ Meyer/ Jorginho/ Weigl and Reina would represent a fantastic transfer window. Might be a bit optimistic and expensive, but we need to push on from the foundations of making the CL final (win or lose) and go for the PL title.

I have barely watched the Saints play recently (their dire football doesn't exactly appeal to me when I could be watching replays of Liverpool instead) but how has Hojbjerg gotten on at Southampton, ed? Also, why did Bayern let him go? I know he didn't get much gametime there but they usually make space for the youngsters they want to keep like Kimmich.
