eds, any truths in the rumor of markovic to rangers, surely liverpool and markovic wants to play at a higher level than the SPL.

smith0069

{Ed001's Note - I have not heard of anything to do with Rangers, other than when I was editing their site earlier and someone said it. He was also being linked with Celtic. Neither would pay his wages for a loan and neither would pay the transfer fee, so it seems highly unlikely.}

1.) 30 Aug 2017 11:57:21
Is it soo bad to have Markovic warm the bench from time to time?

2.) 30 Aug 2017 12:18:21
it would be so bad for him, plus he is dire.

3.) 30 Aug 2017 12:22:15
Yes. Get him off the wage bill. The bench has under-seat heating.

4.) 30 Aug 2017 12:48:04
Always liked him. Ran at defenders. A good cross and a decent shot on him. Shame we could have given him more time to develop before sending him out but hope he finds a decent club to get his career on track.

Would love to see him at Swansea!

5.) 30 Aug 2017 14:10:06
Although i never understood signing him when Ibe was already at the club and the difference was negligable since both were purely about potential, he isn't a rubbish player by any means, not good enough for top 6 club but probably got a good EPL career in him so hopefully the club doesn't screw up a second time by pricing him out of a decent move.

eds, I'm reading on sky sports that an Italian paper have said we have upped our bid for kovacic to £15+m, you heard anything??

smith0069

{Ed002's Note - Even though he has very recently extended his contract, Inter are willing to sell Kovacic for the right price and have spoken with Arsenal, Liverpool, Barcelona and Hertha Berlin about the player. Nikky Vuksan has however said he is aware that Inter and Barcelona have had discussions about some "issues" that would involve Kovacic. To explain, Barcelona are plotting a deal that will see Alex Song and/or Pedro Rodrigues move to Inter on loan until January and then will be part of a permanent deal for Kovacic. I am not going to go in to too much detail but Piero Ausilio, Inter's Sporting Director, told a Spanish journalist that Liverpool had made a "funny little joke" with a €10M offer. They need to more than double for there to be a chance. In the interim, as they have been unable to agree a deal, Inter who need to raise funds and sell a midfield player, have made it known that they will look to keep Kovacic if they cannot get the price they want and will make Hernanes available instead - although interest is think on the ground. The sale of one or more of these players should fund the replacements Inter are looking at.}

reading on ESPN (not sure how reliable they are) that we are signing a kid from a poruguese club called paulinho. no idea if its true or how good he is but thought I'd pass it on

A 17 y.o. for the U18/U21 squads. Think it was over a week ago now.

eds quick question, I'm really not keen on banding about random names but I personally think one player who would be a perfect player for us would be Kramer of Leverkusen, reminds a very much of didi hamann, do you believe there is any chance we would be signing him??

smith0069

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

eds are you aware of us holding interest in any other strikers apart from benteke. as much as he's a good player I just get the feeling he isn't the right player for us.

smith0069

{Ed002's Note - I have explained which strikers Liverpool have shown an interest in this summer - but Benteke remains the one they want. They know what they have to pay - if they have the money.}

08 Jun 2015 11:11:58
eds, would it be a fair assumption that no more strikers will come into the club until some are moved on as at the moment we have Sturridge, Lambert, Balotelli, Borini, Ings and Origi. Surely we have to try and ship out Lambert, Borini and Balotelli as we are still short of a decent striker to play alongside sturridge

smith0069

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer questions about the timing of transfers.}

19 May 2015 10:21:15
right eds two quick questions which if possible I'd like quick short answers:
1. who would you realistically LIKE to replace Rodgers
2. who would you realistically LIKE to see replace Sterling

I quite respect and appreciate your honesty and opinion but at the same time I understand that what ever answer you give it will be scrutinised like hell!!!

smith0069

{Ed002's Note - (a) Schmidt, (b) Pedro.}

1.) 19 May 2015 11:00:23
(a) Klopp (b) Vela

2.) 19 May 2015 11:08:37
Hi Eds,
Who is Schmidt, what club is he currently managing and why do you rate him if I may ask?
Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

3.) 19 May 2015 11:22:04
Bayer Levurkusen. He's done a job and a half.

4.) 19 May 2015 11:28:04
Unai Emery
Aubamayeng

5.) 19 May 2015 17:21:01
Reet is on the money there

6.) 19 May 2015 18:47:17
Thanks Cruyff

eds, I am aware that we are top heavy with strikers at the moment but let's "assume" that some will move on (the likes of balotelli and borini) who in your opinion is our best option as I strongly believe we need a top class striker up there either with sturridge or (when he's injured) instead of sturridge.

smith0069

{Ed001's Note - to be honest, I don't see many options available to us if we don't make the Champions League. We would have to be looking at a player looking to make a name for himself, rather than one who is proven top quality. We may as well give Origi a go in that case, as look to bring in yet another, and allow a few of our own prospects, such as Sinclair, the chance to fill in the gaps in the squad.}

1.) 02 Apr 2015 12:20:42
I still want Borini to have a fair go i.e. with another striker next to him and a little bit of service to the space he finds

2.) 02 Apr 2015 15:23:59
His chance has gone, I`m afraid.

Am I missing something. I was under the impression that there was a transfer committee of which BR was only a part of, how can he be held solely responsible for all the transfer mistakes yet not get praise for the transfer success's, we as fans cannot have our cake and eat it if it's his mistake for the balotelli's and aspas's etc then surely it was to his credit that we paid peanuts for coutinho and sturridge ( iw ould also contribute a large amount of credit for how Henderson has performed under him as well!)

Is he not speaking in that context because he is about to be in charge for his 100th game and it is a bit of a landmark, he kind of analyses his time in charge so far then gose on to say what he thinks they should be achieving going forward. seems kind of standard from a manager about to hit a "landmark"
