Would be ideal for the left wing slot. If Brandt's stance on insisting a regular first team role does not change, then I say we go for Costa. Mane, Costa and 2 attacking fullbacks will actually give us a fighting chance against all teams that park the bus against us.

He hasn't impressed me at all this season I'm picturing him being skinned by mirallas earlier in the season and yesterday he couldn't stop the goal. He reminds me a lot of Moreno actually acceptable going forward suspect defensively but he's a couple of years younger and English. Personally at the moment I'm glad we missed that boat.

like most modern full backs he has not got a clue about defending, they are nothing more than glorified attackers, the actual defending part, the part they should be good at they fail completely.

maybe but i would have thought Klopp has a budget to work to and he will decide who he prefers to spend the budget on. if the askiing price of a player is 10m and he doesn't think its worth it he will likely look elsewhere.

My point exactly. Klopp thought mane was worth 36m so he went for him. he didn't think Chilwell was worth 10m, so he didn't. it has nothing to do with a budget BUT all to do with price and value. Chilwell offering adequate value for the quoted price hence, he wasn't signed. Economics 101, my friend.

He put in some really good crosses yesterday. Only if Hummels could remember how to head the ball.
I think people hate Ozil because he looks too relaxed. Even in 95th minute yesterday - Germany down 2-0 - he didn't seemed rushed.

Ozil is one of my favorite players, his vision and touch are absolutely superb, and he does work harder than people think. Would love to see him at Liverpool though of course know that will never happen.
@tc77 - or how he didn't select Leroy Sane at all. Offers something Germany didn't really have yet couldn't even make the squad - if he gets sacked it is all of his own doing.

To be fair ed.
I was disgusted with Messi and not tracking back. He did once they where 2-1 up made two great tackles. People think he has earned that status. Nope. No player has the god given right to not leave everything on the pitch. Even Messi and Ronaldo although they do it they really shouldn't be.
Ozil might create loads of chances but when defending he should really be gusting a gut. Not just strolling what because he makes some good pases. There is no excuse.
It just leaves yo7 one man down in the team and no player is that good attacking wise for that to be happening.

Would people be pleased if we signed ozil? Some saying it would never happen but we signed keita and are interested in assensio. I wouldn't say it was the least likely transfer in the world. We have nicked arsenal's top 4 spot and ozil needs to be in ucl, we have a German manager and German staff and he plays in a position we are trying to fill.

VVD does not seem to be arsed about starting for Southampton.
I honestly do not see him being the solution to our problems at the back anyways. Especially not at the price Southampton will hold us ransom for.
Our scouts have some hard work to do to find CB's who can work in Klopp's system.

I know VVD has his flaws and all BUT he will be a step in the right direction, IMO. As for Saints, well they are getting what they knew was coming as in, a player who could not be arsed to do anything for them. Now, that is very worrying to me BUT at the same time, Saints should not be surprised with what they are getting.

Is he an improvement Phil? I am starting to seriously doubt it with how he played today against average opposition. He couldn't cope with Diouf, Crouch and Berahino. Hardly a world class set of strikers.
He was bad enough last season. What he did today is not new. He constantly loses his man and just pulls them down. He did it to Firmino last season and should've been red carded, but he got away with it somehow.
Either his injury had done him no favours, or he isn't trying because he didn't get his own way. Whichever way, do you want him still for in excess of £50m?

MK, I have had my reservations on VVD myself and I think there are better CB's than him around BUT he is who Klopp wants. I hope this perf. is just an aberration as he is coming off a long injury lay off so that may have affected his play and don't forget, he does not wanna play for Saints anymore so that may be affecting him evewn tho, I agree that he does himself no favors with that attitude.
I don't know this Janssen fellow. Is he that good? Are we interested and where is he playing his footie?

Obviously virgil career is football. A massive promotion was waved in front of his face during the summer. It went so far that he had a medical on deadline day but Southampton wouldn't let him go. I would be pissed. Maybe he is hoping for a January move.

Yes MK he is still an improvement over the lot we have, literally any defender in the prem can do a better job than ours, i’d even go as far as saying the championship has better center half a than we have.
Of course he isn’t worth the money, and I did say he isn’t, just he is an improvement over what we have. There is better out there too but not many to fit our way of playing.
Smeg head also made a great point on that it was his first league start since January. Look at how much stick Henderson was getting for his first several games and he wasn’t out as long.
