hi eds, is their still some interest in lacazette from liverpool? he rates champions league football very highly and lyon are not going to get it this season. thanks.

redsjoe

{Ed002's Note - Interest in Lyon's Alexander Lacazette from Newcastle and Inter has long gone. Additionally, whilst Guy Hillion has continued to extol his virtues but there is no support whatesoever from the folks in London for a bid at this time - so prior interest of Chelsea has gone. Barcelona, Atletico, Juventus and Spurs had him watched late last season - but Barcelona had another solution in mind for what they want and will not be following up. Juventus took it no further and moved to hold talks about another player and Spurs purchased Janssen but may still want to add a striker in the summer - but Lacazette may become an option again so I would not totally discount Spurs nor Juve.

West Ham enquired after Lacazette's availability previously and submitted two bids that were rejected - but wages and the lack of desire from the player to move to a club like WHU means that option has probably gone - plus Lacazette will want Champions League football.

Atletico however know there is apossibility of their summer transfer ban being overturned and Griezmann leaving - Lacazette is one of the two players they have in mind.

Dortmund are continuing to hedge their bets by looking for a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement and have watched Lacazette on a couple of occasions.

Arsenal decided that the asking price was too high in the summer and opted, for reasons beyond me, for Lucas Perez. I suspect that they might return in the coming summer when they will be in the market for a striker and Lacazette might well be a good option for them - much will however depend on who the manager is.

He is not first or second choice for PSG but they could potentially turn to him if they fail to bring anyone else in - I think a less likely option.

I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest in the player recently, but (a) if they look to move Sturridge on (which I think they will), (b) if Liverpool qualify for the Champions League, and (c) if Liverpool have the stomach to pay what will likely be around €60M or so for the player, then Lacazette might well be an option.

Lacazette is a player that Mourinho has looked at from his time at Chelsea, but any interest will depend on what happens with Ibrahimovich. Right now Manchester United have shown no interest.

Lyon are very difficult to negotiate with and they may well see an Gallic shrug in response to any initial bids. Lacazette wants English money and Champions League or Juventus. Lyon will look for at least €10M more for a sale to an English side as they know what they can expect from elsewhere. Two French players who have played in England have been providing advice to Lacazette that it is not essential to move to England immediately, but I suspect he has other ideas now and would welcome a move.}

1.) 05 May 2017 22:47:17
Hi ED 2 and reds.

Regarding Sturridge and your opinion the club will probably move him on.

Given that we have European football next season and hopefully in the champions league, would Sturridge bE willing to move on as he is on great money at LFC and would find it hard to get as much elsewhere given his injury record?

It would be unlikely that another Champions league team would come in for him.

I have heard that he is not money orientated and wants to play regularly but at the end of the day business is business.

Apparently he is great with the younger lads around the club so maybe it might be that he stays.

I hope he does as he would be a great impact player in the champions league. (Hopefully)

{Ed002's Note - It is difficult for Klopp and the coaches to plan for a player who has not been available much of the time. I have no idea what Sturridge wants but he won't play anywhere except CF - which is why he left Chelsea.}

2.) 08 May 2017 10:59:01
cheers ed, I would love to get lacazette but can't see Liverpool actually paying the amount needed.

{Ed002's Note - It would indeed be a lot of money.}

Hi eds,
With Isco in the last 18 months of his contract with Real Madrid, his price has dropped to €35mil. Which in my opinion is a steal. Haven't watched much of him play but have heard he's. Do you reckon Liverpool would try and sign him in the summer?

redsjoe

{Ed001's Note - you haven't seen much of him but you think 35m is a steal for him? Perhaps you should watch more of him! There is a reason he is surplus, despite Zidane having begged Madrid to sign him in the first place, it is now Zidane that does not want him. That should tell you all you need to know. He is not a Klopp type of player.}

1.) 06 Mar 2017 20:06:27
Along with that, Isco's demands will be regular football meaning he will ask to to take Coutinho's place. Why on earth would we want to sign a player who is nowhere near the level of Coutinho?

2.) 07 Mar 2017 06:48:48
Gotta be a wind up? A steal for £35m for a player you've not watched? I rate him but he's too similar to Coutinho and I can't see room for them both. Stick with Coutinho all day long.

12 Dec 2016 15:01:47
Hi Eds, do you think we will go for and get Pulisic? if not could we get Moussa Dembele, or Javier Hernandez?

redsjoe

{Ed002's Note - (1) The Liverpool owners no doubt want an American but (a) Liverpool has not made an approach at this time, (b) I don't see why Dortmund would be interested in selling in January, (c) I can't see him getting in to to first team unless Mane is not available or is sold. (2) Potentially a very, very expensive option - but would he get a look in once players are fit - and can Liverpool afford to have a player likely to be well and truly over-priced sat in the U23 squad? There is significant interest in him from elsewhere so there may be an offer made by others in January. (3) Leverkusen are interested and have given a price of €40M to a third party who approached them on behalf of another Premier League club.}

1.) 12 Dec 2016 15:19:34
Thanks Eds.

2.) 12 Dec 2016 15:20:02
How many games will Mane miss due to African cup of nations?

{Ed002's Note - Probably three (Sunderland, Manchester United and Swanse - perhaps four but I would expect him back for Chelsea. He plays for a nation who are not expect to do that well, but if there was a shock it could be more. Even Klopp is not stupid enough to buy simply to replace Mane whilst he is away.)

3.) 12 Dec 2016 15:35:23
It wouldn't be to just replace Mane it can be to play when Coutinho or Firmino is injured. They should be good enough to potentially get into the first team in the future.

{Ed002's Note - So to the Under 23s until Coutinho and Firminho leave at the end of the season - or kick Ojo out now and get someone to replace him? Or to replace Sturridge, or Origi perhaps? Maybe Ings when he is fit. Will other youngsters be moved on? There needs to be a plan and as Liverpool stumble from one manager to another that always seems to be missing.}

4.) 12 Dec 2016 18:08:35
Jesus ed I wish you wouldn't say that about them to leaving lol 😂😂.

5.) 12 Dec 2016 18:27:01
Cheers ed02
Do you really believe both of coutinho and firminho are out? Is it a matter of champions league?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest, and if Liverpool do nothing again they will consider their options.}

6.) 12 Dec 2016 19:28:56
As a side Ed002, given the response to the above do you think it's pretty much assured that Coutinho and Firmino will go in the summer? I get the feeling there could be bids in January for them given they are eligible for Champions League football.

{Ed002's Note - I don't see either leaving in January.}

7.) 12 Dec 2016 20:37:55
Ed Could Harry Wilson be a surprise player he pick from the u23s. I'm surprised he's not been called up like Ojo TTA .

{Ed002's Note - A cameo at best.}

8.) 13 Dec 2016 09:20:07
It was a bit of hyperbole/ sarcasm from Ed there no need to completely over react. It's been said many times that both are relatively happy especially if we maintain our form and do well this season but obviously there is interest in both from teams as there should be as they're both top players. No more no less really.

9.) 13 Dec 2016 10:43:59
Someone a while back on here said this season was a make or break season. It may have been Harry (not 100% ) but I disagreed.

After reading this, though I wouldn't say make or break. Should we lose both Coutinho and Firmino it'd be worrying to say the very least. I think we'll make top 4 and I think they'll stay but the thought of them leaving should worse come to worse is scary.

10.) 13 Dec 2016 06:15:39
Has Couthinho been earmarked to be the favorite choice to replace Iniesta in Barcelona midfield? They looked horrible without him.

Hypothetically speaking, taking under consideration how teams that have sold superstars been held ransom with prices doubling or tripling for replacements after the sale of the player, wouldn't it be prudent business to buy a replacement in the january window if we think player will leave in the summer and let the new player acclimate to the game and team in the following months rather than paying double for that player in the summer and him having the price tag and expectations on him?

{Ed002's Note - No. Most clubs don't want to sell in January because it is difficult to replace players.}

11.) 13 Dec 2016 17:33:05
I doubt Liverpool would let them both leave, maybe one.
But if the price is right and the management deems it a good deal then so be it.
I have every faith in klopp finding suitable replacements should they go.
I must say I'd probably want to keep firminho if I had the choice of keeping only one, he has that something different which I like.
In no way am I saying coutinho can leave, he's a top player and in an ideal world we will finish top 3, keep them both and add more quality in the summer.
We clearly miss coutinho now he's injured, but I feel finding another flare player may be easier than trying to find another hard worker with skills and goals to match.

12 Dec 2016 12:19:12
Hi eds, do you reckon we will attempt to get Joe Hart in January? because Karius just isn't good enough yet. Do you think it would be a good signing?

redsjoe

{Ed001's Note - no and no.}

1.) 12 Dec 2016 12:53:11
Please get joe hart in January 😂😂.

2.) 12 Dec 2016 14:34:10
were do you think the problems lie?

3.) 12 Dec 2016 14:56:55
Problem could be the coach Achterberg in my humble opinion. can't be coincidence that all keepers since Reina (when he came) has lost all form.

4.) 12 Dec 2016 14:56:55

5.) 12 Dec 2016 15:13:14
yeah but will Klopp get rid of him?

6.) 12 Dec 2016 15:32:36
Klopp said he was "a lovely fella" a while ago. think he should have gone when Brendan sold all his staff down the river meself to be honest. clean fresh start should have been made.

7.) 14 Dec 2016 10:20:09
I am not HR expert but if someone ask your boss if you are performing at work and your boss reply "well. he's a lovely fella. " u know u r in trouble.

hi eds, According to an exclusive report covered by Read Liverpool, the £50million rated ($64.5million) central defender (virgil van dijk) has agreed to sign for Liverpool if we can qualify for the next season's Champions League. Do you know whether this is true? also do you think van dijk is as good as everyone says?

redsjoe

{Ed002's Note - I answered this yesterday Joe.}

1.) 04 May 2017 10:16:24
Brief answer Joe;

- Liverpool are very naughty for attempting to tap up players in the past.
- Other teams do not like this (who would have thought it? ) .
- If Liverpool make 'verbal agreement', that is considered naughty again.
- Liverpool could be in trouble/ more trouble.
- Liverpool probably/ hopefully have not made initial contact in this way.

As to ability, most seem to think he is very much a superior Skrtel, with all the flashy big tackles and terrible positioning/ general defending which comes with that.

2.) 04 May 2017 13:55:04
No such verbal agreement exists as that is against tapping-up regulations and LFC had better not be doing that.

Spot on, Jolly on your last point about VVD. Great description of an overrated, MOTD highlight reel-defender.

3.) 04 May 2017 13:57:06
He isn't as good as Skrtel. In a deep defence Skrtel was solid. You only need to see how well he played under Rafa, Kenny and Clarke to know that.

It is only when he is asked to play higher up the pitch and make risky decisions that Skrtel became a liability and thus unsuited to the Rodgers/ Klopp styles.

Van Dijk cannot even stay in position in a deeper defence because very much like Harry Maguire, John Stones, a young David Luiz etc. He thinks he is better than he is and sets off on marauding forward runs until he or his team loses the ball and then he can't get back in time.

He is a really average player who looks good only on highlight reels. Skrtel was easily exposed in certain systems, but if you played to his strengths he was actually a good defender. Not top class, but good enough to win our player of the year award! Van Dijk is just a liability in any system.

4.) 04 May 2017 14:58:57
Sorry but have the say the whole problem with Skrtel was he was the one forcing a deep defence when others tried to push out and that directly caused problems - see the Palace draw as a good example of the panic that sets in when we allow teams to come onto us. Not saying current is massively more reassuring but pushing play away from our penalty area is a must.

5.) 05 May 2017 11:14:27
Great description, MK. Notice how some are saying that Mcguire would be a good signing for us. Yeah, that happened for the same reason people think VVD is worth 50m. Sheesh!

VVD has always been overrated and is quite simply a poor defender who wouldn't hack it in the system we play in where CB's are exposed to one on one situations. The obsession with him in the media and a part of the fan base simply shows that they have no clue or simply don't watch games closely.

29 Apr 2017 10:25:22
Hi eds, great content. I don't usually post things, but I heard a lot about duglas costa, how true are these rumours? And what is this chance of us signing him from Bayern? Phil Coutinho follows him on Instagram so he might be able to persuade him. Thanks.

redsjoe

{Ed002's Note - There is very real interest from China and his agent has spoken with Chelsea, Juventus, PSG and Barcelona again to see if they can get one of the clubs to start chasing Bayern so he can use it as leverage for a pay rise. he may well have spoken to Arsenal and potentially Liverpool as well. Clubs won't get drawn in to that sort of scenario and Bayern are miffed at him because of this and some unreasonable demands. Out of the clubs approached, Juventus, might just bite. Bayern are unhappy with what is happening with both him and Coman right now.

I would not rely on social media as an indicator of where he will move to - particularly given Coutinho could be moving elsewhere.}

05 Jan 2017 09:40:52
Hi Eds, do Liverpool have any interest in Jesé Rodriguez? Seen as RB Leipzig don't want to sell Emil Forsberg. Do you reckon it would be a good signing?

redsjoe

{Ed002's Note - Jese Rodriguez is available (because he has not settled, has been playing badly and has had a dreadful time since arriving in Paris) and has made it clear he wants to return to Spain. If Firmino, Coutinho or Mane were to leave it would make sense - else it makes absolutley zero sense. Right now PSG have shared two approaches for the player - neither of which is Liverpool. I understand a third side is also now showing an interest.}

04 Jan 2017 14:13:13
AS Klopp does his business in the beginning on the window, do we look likely to sign Emil Forsberg in the coming days if we do? He's been in great form for RB Leipzig.

redsjoe

1.) 04 Jan 2017 14:36:42
I personally love him as a player. He is a cracking player in the mold of Coutinho / Iniesta.

2.) 04 Jan 2017 15:49:45
Too slow for the premier league. You don't get time on the ball here. He's a slower version of Lallana but not as good.

3.) 04 Jan 2017 15:54:16
Oh my god.

You have just destroyed the player before he has arrived. Not that where signing him but iniesta? Coutinho. isn't even in his league.

Hes not either, mold. size. Name. Skill.

Just a player who could help the team as simple as.

Thats how you keep expectations low. We all thought mane was a waste and then how much better is it to get such a success. Rather than say this llayer is ala etc etc and then your left wanting.

Sure i remember rossiter geting compared to scholes, gerrard, keane. Wheres the lad now?

Just back off and wait if we sign someone then fingers crossed there useful for us and bring heaothy competition for places 😊

Thats all. Sorry for biting ya head off.

4.) 04 Jan 2017 16:38:43
Are you sure Harry? You have spend a large portion of your time telling us that we need a replacement for Mane and his pace will be missed when he goes to AFCON but then you post this and now want Forsberg who has little pace.

5.) 04 Jan 2017 17:31:39
How do you get so much time to watch so many players?

6.) 04 Jan 2017 18:21:51
To be fair Chilean red, between the ages of 16 and 20 I used to watch about 4 games a day on average. I was a regular follower of Roma, Leverkusen and Lyon as well as Liverpool during those years.

Nowadays I barely find the time to watch 1 or 2 a week though and they're usually just whatever is on in the pub haha. Shouldn't question somebodies ability to watch a lot of games though. The internet makes it not only possible, but easy to follow multiple leagues and teams.

Whether or not Harry does that, we can only speculate. It is unfair to insinuate that he is simply making his opinion up though. Forsberg by all accounts is certainly a good player. From videos though I probably wouldn't say he is Iniesta-esque!

7.) 04 Jan 2017 23:30:45
It's more the in depth analysis. I am a scout myself (part time) for a lower league team (I won't mention who) I know many others. To make such calls, you really need to focus on a players movement off the ball etc, which the tv cameras don't often allow you to do, you often watch a game a few times (if it's been filmed) if you can't make it in person, even when i've been asked to review footage etc of other team, I barely get a chance to monitor that many players. I previously worked in Australia and Chile doing it fulltime. I personally just find it unlikely given my experience that an average Joe working presumably 35+ hours a week, having a social life, can watch a several players teams week in week out and know how good they are to make such claims.
(My internet dropped for a second eds, if this is a repeat post please ignore it)

8.) 05 Jan 2017 03:34:36
I have seen him play and tho a good player, Forsberg is nothing like Coutinho or Iniesta, not even close.

We could play 433, mings in goal, he's been good, Milner and lb, unless we sign a better lb, RB clyne he gets some stick but I like him, cbs, matip and lovren or de virj, midfield Henderson in a cdm and lallana, with can sometimes coming in with Coutinho in left centre midfield, next to lallana, and salah or mane on left and other on right wing and firmino in cf. or we could play same defence with Coutinho and later llama in cm, and salah, firmino and mane in attacking midfield and sturidge or even solanke in strike.

Yeah but it's if they would. Man Utd, Bayern would and real do. Others like Barcelona can afford but just wouldn't go near him, if they think he'll be a flop. Football clubs are businesses owned by rich people who get rich and stay rich by been vigilant going and buying someone who is lazy and money hungry would not be good business.
