Hi eds! Just wanted to know what are your thoughts about Nabil Fekir. I've seen 5-6 games of Lyon following Lacazette, and in the process I noticed Fekir. For me, he seems to have a brilliant future,
and I think he will be the replace of Laczette in next few years. He still has to grow up to be BPL player, but do you know if LFC has looked at him?

nikobaresi

{Ed001's Note - we have been looking at Lacazette, Fekir has been noticed but theyare not looking to sell him.}

1.) 09 Mar 2015 13:03:13
Do you think we have any chance of signing Lacazette Ed? If not, where is he likely to end up?
Cheers

{Ed002's Note - They will not sell both and look likely to let Fekir leave. If Lacazette leaves it will not be to Liverpool.}

Hi edds, was Connor Randal loane to Shrewsbury? By the way, congratulations to Dunn who scored his second goal with Cheltenham, while the other two red lads played the whole game too . A good news some of our kids are winning some experience, hopefully in the future they can get better ones in upper tiers.

nikobaresi

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, for a month initially.}

Eds, there's real interest in Manuel Lanzini? or just media rumours? He'll be good competition for coutinho, or maybe he can even free him from the left wing so that he can play as #10. He may be relatively cheap

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - Lanzini has been watched by a number of clubs with interest being shows from as far a field as the Middle East and Japan. He is one of the players looked at by Liverpool in 2012 but we avoid discussing because of the grief it brings.}

Edd 002 i wish you to answer this if you have some idea. I kno the importance of academies, but do academies are financially viable specially in top tier teams?

I wonder this because you can see some lower tear teams actually surviving just because they are feeding teams so that's their financial core. But id say in 80% or more cases in top tier teams the quantity of kids that make it its quite low. And then you see teams splashing hundreds of thousands $ in kids that don't make it plus the cost of facilities, staff contracts etc etc. does that 1 kid on a 100 (or more) that become a professional or that is sold for profit makes it financially for top tier clubs? Or Why not have just a reserve team which you feed with just a few kids that are about to break into senior football? do you think academies have been stablished for other reasons like for marketing, social responsability and being known in the community? were academies stablished as a global trend somewhere in time of have always existed?

Sorry, it was more like a lot of questions that once i started writing started to come to my mind. Stil correct me if im wrong whith my perception.

(Edd, Of course i mean the academies as the whole bunch of academies. Not just thinking about successful cases like nowdays monaco or chelsea who are top tiers and get huge profits from academies)

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - It is not about the finances it is about the rules concerning youth sides that clubs must adhere to. The rules are complex and take in to account the club categories - but all Premier League teams have academies. The rules are also changing regularly and rules that were dropped (the 90 minute rule for example) may be looked at again. As you suggest, some academies even at the highest level produce players who go on to have successful careers.}

1.) 08 Jul 2019 14:34:29
A number of clubs have dropped their academies below 16 years old due to lack of finances. I know Brentford did a couple of years ago and I’m sure I’ve read of other teams. With the FA compensation scheme rules now in place, the million pound transfers don’t really apply anymore unless the lad have signed long term contracts and made it all the way to the 1st team.

{Ed002's Note - Brentford are not in the Premier League.}

2.) 08 Jul 2019 16:05:24
Brentford dropped their academy as the best 2 players were picked off by 2 premier clubs and only got £60k in compensation. They decided it was easier and cheaper to pick up castoffs themselves going forward.

The risk and reward ain't right for 'lesser' clubs.

3.) 08 Jul 2019 23:55:23
Thank you edd. Interesting. Which may be the reason for the new UEFA rule of limiting loaned players to 8?

{Ed002's Note - No, it is nothing to do with that.}

WTF with the Lonsdale kit deal? is it closed, you think it's another mistake Edd02? what do you think about it reds? Personally, i've barely heard/ seen that brand here in latin america.

nikobaresi

{Ed001's Note - what Lonsdale kit deal? Let me guess the date on the announcement was April 1st?}

1.) 02 Apr 2019 06:43:59
What happened to Iwobi signing for Barcelona? . City 20 points deducted for FFP breach? .
Everyone read those articles on April one.
Of all Iwobi gave some chuckles.

2.) 02 Apr 2019 07:42:13
April fools mate. 75 million and 1 pound should have tipped you off.

3.) 02 Apr 2019 15:31:07
Ohhh for sure hahaha didn't know fools day was on april 1st, as here it is on december 28th. i was sooo confused about it.

4.) 02 Apr 2019 19:01:42
"as here it is on december 28th" - I hope its not called "April Fool's Day" or that would be REALLY confusing!

:D:D.

Hi eds. Why liverpoool u19s and some other clubs that were supposed to play playoffs of youth CL did not, and were replaced with other sides?

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - That has passed me by.}

1.) 22 Feb 2019 17:06:46
We qualified as group winners I thought?

Hi edds, sorry if someone already asked this, but from what i read regarding to alisson's possible bid i haven't seen anything of what i'll ask. I wanted to know if we do get alisson, that will mean we won't go for Fekir (for financial issues) or do you think are unrelated.

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - They are unrelated.}

As always great insights. Stil I have a couple of questions for you Ed 002, and a couple of comments.

1. I know we have made many mistakes appointing Sporting directors; but i wish to know what would make a candidate for Sporting director a good fit for this job, and what would make him/ her a good fit for liverpool sporting director spot.

2. In your point about Wrest Power Back from the Players, you talk about player's image rights, oeher third parties payments, and some of the other clauses you would addemend. So my question, is there any big club that right now has this kind of clauses on their players (specially on their star players) . I ask, beacuse as mucha as this is desirable, i can't imagine players and specially agents, nowdays would like to sign this kind of clauses.

3. I don't know if this was part of your point about football business, but our status and image in the transfer system has been awful for years. So if we can't clean our image, and if we can't get a good mix of players in tranfer windows we will continue in a all life transition team, just bringing good prospects or signing lots of mediocre players, never stablishing a team that can really compete at the highest level again.

4. I love Klopp, he has made a stronger team and squad, but you are right he should have found some solutions by now in problems we have had for a long long time. Stil impressed Migs's our number 1 (I like the lad, but just can't have him as n1 of a team trying to win PL and CL) . Defense and the issue of fitness/ rotation/ consistence are just other.

Hopefully we'll get back into greatest teams again. Since one or two years i think we are finally going forward; just hope we continue to go that way.

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - (1) Yes, Liverpool has screwed up. Better options would be the likes of Rangnick, Zorc, Monchi, Marotta or Raul Sanllehi (who has just joined Arsenal. The pick would be Luis Campos. (2) Yes, at least one Liverpool player benefitted from substantial payments up until recently from image rights. Other clubs have players who have a serioes of strange clauses. In the past there have been players paid in classic cars and oil paintings and many paid off shore in tax free havens. Most of that has gone. (3) Liverpool need to act professionally for a sustained period if the wish to build a good image and have other clubs show respect to them. (4) Klopp is a good manager but the great manager learn from their mistakes.}

Taking into account our finances I completely agree with your choises Ed002 (with exception of Sanson who I haven't seen enough). I will add Luis Adriano to forward list.

nikobaresi

{Ed002's Note - I am a little surprised that there is no firm interest from Liverpool, AC Milan or Arsenal in Adriano at this time. It should be Darmain not Germain.}

It has also to do with terms of payments. Maybe we overpaid a Little for Jota, but as far as i know we will just pay a little % of the 40millions figure this year, which will let some space for finances to adjust. I also think FSG are being Intelligent by bringing someone that will really compete for the front 3 places, and asuming he does well, they might be thinking of offloading one of our front 3 for next year, and while not asuming a Huge gamble by signing a new payer, but a player that has had a season tu adjust to the system and replace one of them.
Of course they are forecasting both things, finances and jotas performance. But it may pay off better than having huge changes next summer.
Remember all the Games we have this season and the periodos of internationals that we will be without a huge Part of the squad.

nikobaresi

{Ed0666's Note - I think it’s a cert one of Salah or Mane is sold next summer.
