When was the last time we produced a decent keeper from our own academy?

niinja123

1.) 11 Jun 2018 17:42:00
I'm 47, been a supporter since I was 8, don't think I can think of one.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 17:51:05
Been a while since a good home town goalkeeper anyway!

3.) 11 Jun 2018 17:51:12
*grown.

4.) 11 Jun 2018 17:58:03
You could say the same about the majority of premier league teams.

5.) 11 Jun 2018 18:00:08
I can remember back as far as Clemence and can't remember any home grown keepers. There was lots of potential but none ever came through the ranks.

6.) 11 Jun 2018 18:00:31
was Gulasci from the academy? If he was then he’s become a competent keeper for a decent bundesliga side.

7.) 11 Jun 2018 18:02:04
I’m 46, supporting since a similar time and I agree with Johnny.

So we ether go half hearted and buy Butland level or go all out for a top keeper and spend £80m.

8.) 11 Jun 2018 18:06:41
Fair point. Although that Irish lad caomhin Kelleher highly regarded. Last keeper from ressies to get a lookin. a tough one mate. Tony warner? A danish keeper in early 90's?

9.) 11 Jun 2018 18:13:09
Tommy Lawrence. the first sweeper Keeper.

10.) 11 Jun 2018 18:36:51
Tommy Lawrence. Loved the guy. He was known as the 'Flying Pig'. Big lad in all senses of the phrase. He was in goal in my first ever Liverpool match attendance in 1962-3 season.

11.) 11 Jun 2018 19:34:42
I remember thinking Anthony warner was going to b a good keeper but sadly never happened.

12.) 11 Jun 2018 19:34:55
Grabara from the u23's is very good! should be made 3rd choice keeper and ay any dead rubber games or be sent out on loan for the season.

13.) 11 Jun 2018 19:44:19
David James was good.

14.) 11 Jun 2018 20:16:13
David James was a clown and was bought from Watford to replace Grobelaar. He was lauded as the next big thing in England.

15.) 11 Jun 2018 20:45:09
Bob bolder was the last homegrown keeper. Him and Bruce grobelaar.

{Ed002's Note - Grobbelaar was hardly HG.}

16.) 11 Jun 2018 21:41:02
Didn’t David James once injure this thumb from playing the PlayStation?

17.) 11 Jun 2018 22:06:51
In fairness, David James was considered the best England goalkeeper for a long time and won over 50 caps. Shows how bad the keepers are in England overall.
Last decent keeper in England was David Seaman in my opinion.

18.) 11 Jun 2018 23:15:05
Stephan Henchoz was good in the fa cup final.

19.) 12 Jun 2018 00:01:19
Bob Boulder came from Sheffield Wed if I can remember right but never got a game for us back in the 80s. He was suppose to be Grobbelars understudy.

20.) 12 Jun 2018 12:11:35
David James cost Liverpool the title more than once, he was terrible, great shot stopper but awful decision maker.

21.) 12 Jun 2018 13:19:29
David James never injured himself playing his PlayStation, he blamed it for destroying his concentration in matches. He maybe had a point but he must have kept playing it anyway.

22.) 13 Jun 2018 01:53:32
Bring Tony warner back.

How much has wijaldum grown as a player this season? First name on the team sheet in the midfield.

niinja123

1.) 17 Dec 2018 20:17:59
Started the season well, had a bit of a lull then, but last two games he's shown again what a good player he can be when in the mood.

Been one of his critics, but I'd start him as much as his energy and fitness allows over the Christmas period to see can he maintain his form.

2.) 17 Dec 2018 20:22:10
Am not so sure he would be the first name. He’s had some good games but he’s also gone missing in quite a few. If he could play like he has this last week then yeah.

3.) 17 Dec 2018 20:24:45
He’s hardworking, competent and very disciplined, he’s completely won me over and I didn’t think I’d ever think I’d say that. One of the first names on the sheet as he’s dependable and a good footballer.

4.) 17 Dec 2018 21:07:51
Was thinking this today as well, he's been class this last week but really needs to show up to the games against 'smaller team's' too. He tends to go missing in these games and games away from home but if he can perform like he did against napoli and man u week in week out he would be one of the best in the world.

{Ed025's Note - perspective please Bmena, "one of the best in the world"???? really..

5.) 17 Dec 2018 21:28:55
Hahaha little carried away there ed. still twice the player of your every own gomes;)

{Ed025's Note - i think you speak with forked tongue Bmena mate.. :)

6.) 17 Dec 2018 23:01:10
Wiji has been superb. however once kieta and fabinho are fully integrated, Chamberlain returns, will he be first name on team sheet.

7.) 17 Dec 2018 23:06:58
It Wijnaldum played to his potential every week, or even close to it, he would be one of the best in the world. On his day he is incredible, then he’ll do nothing for another 4 matches. He is the total opposite of Milner.

8.) 18 Dec 2018 00:08:59
To win me over he will have to show a lot more quality in forward positions. He constantly gets himself in and around the box and offers nothing with it. His off the ball work is done equally by all of our midfielders.

9.) 18 Dec 2018 09:10:47
well he's clearly won over klopp, unless you think you know better!

16 Dec 2018 02:37:54
Hi eds, can you do a profile on my favorite players: david ngog, christian poulsen and paul Konchesky.

niinja123

{Ed001's Note - added it to the to do list.}

1.) 16 Dec 2018 04:41:46
Milan Jovanovic?

2.) 16 Dec 2018 06:22:15
It is really baffling when you think all those lot were in the LFC squad at around the same time. It really shows you how far we fell from grace (and how far we have come since then! )

Red Sandman.

3.) 16 Dec 2018 08:10:07
And they were all managed by Roy Hodgson! What a dream combo!

4.) 16 Dec 2018 09:05:14
Somebody posted a team line-up from this era on Twitter, the players we had were absolute dross.

5.) 16 Dec 2018 09:10:49
Ed001, please can you do a player profile on Pellegrino. Sorry but one of the worst CB's I have seen in a red shirt.

{Ed001's Note - added to the list.}

6.) 16 Dec 2018 11:07:50
I heard the team sheet from the last time we played in Napoli in 2010 and the difference in standard is massive. Carragher was the only starter who would get anywhere near this team, though Gerrard did come on off the bench. We still won, surprisingly.

7.) 16 Dec 2018 13:17:22
Im actually interested in seeing Ngog profile. He was touted to be a really good striker.

11 Dec 2018 19:40:29
I was spot on with the midfield Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner start.
i had hoped for i hope for shaq, fabinho and gini.

niinja123

1.) 11 Dec 2018 20:54:04
Same as I predicted to. But I wanted naby in for wijinaldum! So far looking good though. wiji just a little weak at times.

2.) 11 Dec 2018 21:58:02
Wijnaldum showed up when it mattered most tonight. He was immense in those last 20 minutes. The whole bloody team was.

3.) 11 Dec 2018 22:05:27
Gini oh gini, gives me a headache each time I see him play. Kid is boss but he just needs to see it himself. Welldone to the team.

4.) 11 Dec 2018 22:06:14
Gini always throws in a top drawer performance every now and then. I really wish he'd reproduce it regularly.

5.) 11 Dec 2018 22:49:33
It took a while for Gini (and the whole midfield really) to get going but once they got in their stride, Gini played the way his ability and talent warrants. I do think he was a bit jaded and tired. Don't know if he was carrying a knock BUT he toughed it out and gave a very good perf. Long may it continue.

6.) 12 Dec 2018 08:08:56
Gini showed his good and bad last night, he had some superb touches, but also some moments that showed either a lack of confidence or lack of judgement on where to go with the ball. But in that regard most of the team bar Henderson, VVD and Matip wasted the ball a lot.

And on Henderson, for all the haters of him, watch that game again, masterclass at the base of midfield, guy was everywhere. Was my MOTM till the Alisson save at the end. If that was Fab or Keita doing what Hendo did last night you'd all be salivating and saying how much of a world beater they were.

30 Nov 2018 15:24:11
What does Shaqiri need to do to get a start?

niinja123

{Ed025's Note - get a skill bypass?.. :)

1.) 30 Nov 2018 17:16:10
What is the point in buying all these players if we don't use them. Start Fabinho Keita n Shaq in midfield give Milner and Wij a rest they look knackered.

2.) 30 Nov 2018 17:44:33
He’s doing it right at the moment, bit of luck he’ll get a start and set the standard for everyone else.

3.) 30 Nov 2018 17:53:49
"What is the point of buying all these players if we don't use them. "

How long have you been following Liverpool?

Our best purchases over the years have tended to be players who we take time to settle in. Into our system, culture and even the country if they come from overseas.

These players have been with us for a few months - that's it.

Are you following their training every day, or talking to them every day to know how and if they have settled in?

Didn't think so.

Use a bit of common sense, !

4.) 30 Nov 2018 18:21:55
What does assuming how long someone has followed Liverpool as an argument point. I’ve followed the reds for 36 years but it doesn’t make me more knowledgable than someone who has followed for 26 years etc. And I guarantee no one on here follows training or talks to the players every day. So again can’t see how that is a point to beat someone for their opinion.

5.) 30 Nov 2018 18:32:44
Get off your high horse Zed. You Keep shouting at the TV I'll carry on supporting them from the Kop and in the away end
They're Top players, play them more!

6.) 30 Nov 2018 18:51:01
The reason I asked how long you have supported them for is because that's always been our way.

I'm referencing, for example, Rushie being brought in and hardly playing for a season or two.

That's been less prevalent in the last few years as we've not been at the top, therefore any new player has had to be played from day 1. However, we are (hopefully) building a capable squad and therefore have no need to throw players in as soon as we buy them. See how Robertson has improved since we bought him, and he sat on the sidelines for best part of half a season before claiming his (rightful) place.

If Klopp doesn't think the likes of Keita and Fab in particular are ready to play every single game, then so be it. Our midfield isn't bereft of other options, although I agree we weren't good on Wednesday, by a long way.

I'll ignore the pathetic OOTs vs locals jibe - I thought that whole nonsense had died a death in this day and age. I guess I'm wrong!

7.) 30 Nov 2018 19:10:09
And that's an excellent use of the word prevalent.
And I have no idea what that means other than your a complete Tit mate haha no offence.
Anyway enjoy your Prevelance Zed
Bring on the Toffees (that's Everton) YNWA.

8.) 30 Nov 2018 19:21:54
Zed I can see your point on why you refrenced asking how long to prove your point and it has been done on a few players in the past. But there’s also lots of players who have come in and not had it done to them. Vvd, Mane Allison and Salah just to name recent ones.

9.) 30 Nov 2018 19:23:45
OP, I don't get your question or maybe you are looking for a reaction. I don't recall Ox or Robbo starting games left, right and center when they first arrived and we all know what they have now become with LFC. Also, I may have sleep-walked through the past couple of games BUT I recall that Shaq has started 2 of the last 3 games in all comps so again, either you are looking for a reaction to whind people up or you are just not abreast with the current affairs at LFC.

10.) 30 Nov 2018 19:24:22
As far as i can tell, he used the word correctly. Maybe it's not used often on the kop.

11.) 30 Nov 2018 19:43:33
Prevalent = widespread 😉

Toffees = crap 😂

And the ‘how long you been supporting” was not meant as a jibe. I know a lot of the posters here are in their 20s - MK and Anon Woolback spring to mind - so they won’t remember the glory years when we had the luxury of introducing players over time rather than needing them in immediately.

Someone like VVD was needed immediately, as was Alisson (although GKs tend to be different) . Hopefully, with a more established line up, we can bring players through gradually and thereby ensure they perform better for the length of experience they’ve had in and around the club and training ground.

Although our midfield was ‘toffees’ on Wednesday, rotating between Milner, Hendo, Wiji, with Shaq on mainly as impact sub has treated us well so far in the EPL based on results, so I can see the logic in not rushing in Keita and Fab.

Fab has been getting a few more games recently, and Keita has come off the back of an injury as well.

Bottom line, I totally get the desire to see the newbies on the pitch, especially after such a ‘toffees’ display on Wednesday, but I want to make sure the newbies have the best possible chance of success and if Klopp reckons they’re not ready yet, whether it be fitness, pace of game or acclimatising to our way of play, then he’s the best placed to decide.

Saying all that, I’d love it if he reckoned they were ready enough to play Fab, Milner and Keita on Sunday, as I reckon, once they’re ready, that’s our best midfield until the six is fit again.

{Ed002's Note - Well Van Dyke had a nice long rest before joining as he was on strike after an illegal approach by Liverpool - so remember loyalty to a club means absolutely zero to him. You can make excuses for the likes of Keita but it will never get away from him being a nasty little item who few people like - including all of his ex colleagues in Germany. Other clubs buy players and get on with it. Liverpool, a club always in transition, buy players and they need a lengthy period of transition themselves. The repeated excuses are wearing thin - particularly given the success other managers and coaches have found without years and years of transition.}

12.) 30 Nov 2018 19:43:45
LiverpoolFC8

The reason we are sitting second in the league and unbeaten is because fabinho and keita haven't started every game. There are games this season where if our midfield 3 had had have been fabinho shiqiri and keita we would have been completly overrun.

Zed makes some good points. If they were completly ready they would be starting. Im pretty sure klopp didn't sanction 90 million to keep the bench warm. They will get their chances in the next month and hopefully be a bit further down the line tactically come the turn of the year.

But i don't go to away games and i can't spell all that good so ill go sit in the tit corner with Zed.

13.) 30 Nov 2018 19:47:03
But used often in Rugby?

{Ed025's Note - where an egg shaped ball is very prevalent..

14.) 30 Nov 2018 19:48:16
By the way, LiverpoolFC8, “better to remain silent and be thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt”

Wise words, “tit”!

{Ed025's Note - nice reposte zed..

15.) 30 Nov 2018 19:58:20
Haha Cheer up boys it's only a bit of Banter. Nothing but love for all my fellow Reds. Enjoy the game lads!
ILL have a 2nil win Zed what you reckon? Mane is due one.

16.) 30 Nov 2018 20:00:23
Shaq has to play on Sunday, he is the most creative of our midfield or forwards, its actually a no brainer,
Klopp does get his team selection right most of the time,
but not on Wednesday, should have started Gomez and Trent, I knew it would not work, Lovren is best against Prem players,
we should beat Everton, and get 2nd place in our group, but a lot rests on the teams that Klopp selects .

17.) 30 Nov 2018 20:07:45
Banter here too, all too prevalent on these boards! 😂

I already gave my prediction to Ed001 a bit further down - 8-0 with a hat trick each for Salah and Mane and 2 for Bobby. After all we’re only playing the craps, sorry Toffees!

{Ed025's Note - have your attackers score 8 goals this season zed?, oh no i forgot they are suffering from world cup burn out.. :)

18.) 30 Nov 2018 20:21:28
They’re due, my toffee mate!

Be afraid, be very afraid!

By the way, have the toffees got 8 goals yet this season 😉😂.

{Ed025's Note - ritchie has got nearly that himself zed, i fancy he might get us a pen on sunday as well, he does like falling down a bit mate.. :)

19.) 30 Nov 2018 20:24:37
What are you going, Ed025?
I haven’t seen anything of Everton this season myself but my dad reckons you could well get a draw on Sunday.

{Ed025's Note - we are doing quite well and progressing nicely juicer, but a hard game like this may have come a bit early for us mate..

20.) 30 Nov 2018 20:45:41
Ok, 8-1, esp as Richie is in my fantasy team now!

Actually, given he has just come into my fantasy team, that’s a cue for him to go on a goal drought! 😂😂.

{Ed025's Note - thats a lot fairer zed..

21.) 30 Nov 2018 20:03:48
Ed002, I didn’t mention transition, nor do I think we’re in transition now. I’m happy with the squad of players we have, happier than I have been in a long, long time. It makes perfect sense not to change an established, successful team every year, but to introduce changes gradually as the players you already have are at a suitable level.

In my lifetime, the successful teams have done just that - prime example being Man Utd during the 90s and 00s. Obviously, that tends to go hand in hand with having an established manager, other wise you do tend to have years of transition with different managers, with different styles of play, at the helm.

Hopefully Klopp can stay for years to come. That’s my wish, anyway.

{Ed002's Note - Everything is about excuses and extra time needed for new players and you want Klopp who has done nothing to stay for years to come. I don’t get it and neither does anyone else.}

22.) 30 Nov 2018 21:37:26
Nothing is about excuses, and yes I do want Klopp to stay for years to come.

You don’t get it, fair enough.

But I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels the same way.

Maybe it’s a Liverpool disease? I’m not looking for a cure 😀.

23.) 30 Nov 2018 21:52:32
Zeddicus, I get it.

24.) 30 Nov 2018 22:17:48
Ignore that mean old duffer, Zeddicus. He knows nothing of what it actually is to be a fan of football or a football team.

He looks at football like someone who could only see the matrix as code on a screen.

25.) 30 Nov 2018 23:42:56
Too right Zed, we all want Klopp to stay for years. we are going in the right direction. Any one who says otherwise is trolling or just looking for an argument.

26.) 30 Nov 2018 22:37:39
Ed002 .
Players do need time to settle and earn their place in the side, that was always the way with Liverpool under Shanks and Paisley.

And why shouldn’t Klopp be given time? Ferguson needed three years to win a trophy and didn’t win a league title until the 92/ 93 season, he joined in 86.I remember going to old Trafford and seeing Fergie out banners back in the late 80’s.

He was given huge funds by their chairman at time, Martin Edwards in order to “ knock Liverpool of their perch” . Along with the floatation in 91, they were like the Chelsea and city of todays game.

So let’s not stick with klopp and sack him because it’s the “ trigger happy way” in the modern game. Then
approach who? Mourinho? No thanks.

I’m off to bed.

{Ed002's Note - It certainly didn't take time under Paisley for Liverpool to start achieving, but I get it - the Liverpool way, transition.}

27.) 30 Nov 2018 22:47:43
Ed02 you come across like you really hate Liverpool and their supporters. who do you support may I ask. ? Absolutely love you’re opinion and input. peace out ✌️.

{Ed002's Note - What sort of moron are you? What have I said that is incorrect or hateful?}

28.) 01 Dec 2018 07:31:58
Klopp will need to start winning things if he is going to stay for years and years.

In answer to the original post I’d say “impress in training”. That’s always been vital to Klopp, he places great importance to training.
He may not be starting for tactical reasons. However, I don’t think Shaq should need a lot of time settling in, he’s lived in this country for many years now, the premier league is not new to him. I think he was always bought to be another option for the first team rather than a regular starter.

Keita and Fabinho will be fine 👍.

29.) 01 Dec 2018 07:33:40
Morning ED002.

Paisley inherited a pretty decent group of players to start with, so it’s difficult to compare in that instance.

If you remember Ed002, under Moore’s and Parry ( recent times ) Liverpool were held back massively and especially under the previous two American clowns.

Every team makes mistakes in the transfer market but when you have clubs backed with extreme wealth - City, Chelsea and united for expample, those bad buys could be just swept to one side. We’ve not been given this amount of significant funds in a long long time.

So you say Liverpool a transition team, you’re correct because we’ve not had a sheik or an oil tycoon as owners.

{Ed002's Note -

I remember the situation well, it was you trying to use Paisley as a feeble excuse for the Liverpool players needing a period of transition. Liverpool have not been held back - all of the managers have had money to spend. This constant blaming of the owners is an absolute joke. And now the excuse is everyone else is backe with “extreme wealth”. Pitiful I am afraid.}

30.) 01 Dec 2018 08:06:06
Good to see you up and about this morning!

We were held back Ed002, sorry I totally disagree. Moore’s and Parry thought they could just take liverpool through by standing still, whilst United moved forward under Martin Edwards. They floated on the stock exchange in 91 in order to fund their stadium expansion and invest in the team, the same in 96. Just look at their commercial deals, this didn’t happen over night.

I’ll give you one example regarding transfers, Liverpool’s scouts first identified Cristiano Ronaldo but wouldn’t pay the £12m.

You talk about blaming the owners being a joke ? Gillet and Hicks nearly sent the club into ablivion! I agree, hilarious

As for the other clubs, I’m pointing out the fact and I feel this topic gets under your skin. Chelsea hadn’t won a league title for 50 years before the extreme wealth, the same with City.

You’ve seen enough of my posts to know I really like our current owners .

{Ed002's Note - There are numerous players scouts have seen and clubs have turned down. There are no topics related to Chelsea and Manchester City that get under my skin. I am up and about as I am currently sat on a plane being pushed back from Gate B34 at Heathrow. At least I should have WiFi en route. You need to look at Liverpool subjectively and not constantly look for excuses and blame everyone else.}

31.) 01 Dec 2018 10:34:52
Hope your’re off somewhere nice! Well I’m just back from football with my 4 year old son - won his first football trophy!

After following Liverpool for over 35 years, through the good and the bad times, the one thing I do, is look at my team/ club subjectively, I’ve had to.

All this talk of blame etc is just nonsense.

{Ed002's Note - I am two thirds of the way to Tel Aviv thanks.}

32.) 01 Dec 2018 10:50:48
Ed02, Having read this thread, can you tell us exactly what you would do regarding Klopp if he fails to win a trophy this season.
1 poster did correctly point out that it took Alex Ferguson 6 years before winning the premier league.
Then you have Antonio Conte who won it with Chelsea in his first season. Yet they are both successful managers.
You have correctly stated Klopp has won nothing for years, while us fans state he has overseen enormous improvements at Liverpool.
You are never that complimentary about Klopp, so it would be interesting to read a detailed constructive argument from you as to why you think Klopp is not the long term answer for Liverpool, and who or what Liverpool should turn to, in order to reach the next level. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - The reason I am not often complimentary about Klopp is he is a cheat and a liar. Constant illegal approaches for players by him have cost Liverpool many, many millions of pounds. He lied to the board to get a work permit for Grujic - he also lied to the player. He lied to Solanke - his career has been disrupted. He made massive mistakes and a real mess of the goalkeeping situation. He is arrogant and made an ass of himself as recently as Wednesday - I was in Milan then and many of those present that evening were happily laughing at him. He put Buvac in the situation that he felt he had to resign and now he is struggling to adjust tactically. He might be all pleasant and smiling but his promises at bringing success to Liverpool without spending money went out the window as the club is desparately looking to buy success now. Whilst he has the team playing well on occasion they are not doing it consistently. The fans can see no wrong of course and use the excuses of the team being in transition, Klopp needing time, the players now need a period of transition to settle in, remember Ferguson did not win the league for 6 years, yadda, yadda, yadda. There is constant bleating about how bad the owners are - it just goes on.}

33.) 01 Dec 2018 15:13:10
Safe journey Ed.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Drogie, safely in the lounge of the hotel awaiting the end of Shabbat - which should be soon. Then the restaurants open. Have a good day.}

Thanks Edo2, for a very interesting, informative reply. When reading, it does not reflect well on Klopp does it. That is a significant list of misdemeanors. It is true that the fans only see a happy, jolly Klopp in the media.
Clearly not everything is as it seems. That is a long list of mistakes and obviously he has annoyed a lot of people along the way with those antics.
Nobody should ever criticize the owners, they have spent a fortune improving the squad, stadium etc, but no matter what they do, some fans will complain if Liverpool do not spend as much as Man City, PSG etc.

I think you should post your answer regarding Klopp as a new article so it gets more views. You have explained clearly why Klopp is not the Messiah, he's just a very naughty boy.

{Ed002's Note - It is the situation sadly. He needs to break out of this constant tapping up of players, he needs to stop making promises to players in order to get them to sign. Unfortunately many still see the owners as an issue but you are right, folks will moan about the spending still.}

35.) 01 Dec 2018 19:20:06
Ed02, I have read dozens of articles about Klopp in quality newspapers (not red top tabloids) and decent football magazines (not click bait websites) . Not one of those articles has been remotely as critical about Klopp as you are. Why do you think that is?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what a "quality newspaper" is in this respect. Where do they contradict what I have said? Have they said he isn't a cheat with his repeated tapping up of players? Have they said he hasn't cost Liverpool millions and millions of punds as a result of this? Wow. Have they said that he did not lie to get Grujic a WP, or point out that Grujic has been playing regularly ever since? Did they say he told the truth when promising first team playing time to Grujic and Solanke? I am slightly confused as to why you would give any sort of credence to the the dozens of articles you have read over what I have said. Perhaps if you could start by explaining where they have contradicted me and give me the details? I am absolutely intrigued about your post. If you can provide the dates of all of these contradictions that would help me - maybe I could get some of these hot shot journalists you are such a fan of to come along to the site to discuss it with me? Or maybe you are just another Johnny Jerkoff looking for feeble excuses to defend the coach from the truth?}

36.) 01 Dec 2018 19:55:57
Ed02, I have not read a single article in which Klopp has been called a liar or a cheat. But I am not necessarily giving credence to all those articles over what you have alleged about Klopp, I am just interested in why you think your characterisation of Klopp is so different from the many football journalists who have written articles about him. Is there something personal behind your attacks on Klopp?

{Ed002's Note - So do you think that making illegal approaches to players contracted to other clubs is not an attempt at cheating? Do you not think that telling lies to the Work Permit board about Grujic and telling lies to players to attract them to the club is lying?}

37.) 01 Dec 2018 23:37:44
Ed’s, was there something in my reply which made it unsuitable for publication? Surely not, after all I didn’t resort to personal abuse such as ‘Johnny Jerkoff’ (not nice) . Or perhaps it has just got lost on the ether? What I wrote was :
Ed02, I have never read a single article in which Klopp was characterised as a liar or a cheat. But I do not necessarily give the football journalists who wrote those articles credence over you. {Ed002's Note - I answered your comment as soon as I saw it. And yes you are being a complete jerk.}

Ed02, thanks for the reply and apologies for my impatience. I will set your views of Klopp alongside those of others who are also much better informed than me before reaching a conclusion as to his character. Enjoy your stay in Israel, one of my favorite countries in the world.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks WW, at least the weather here in Israel is pleasant today.}

I understand and agree with some of Ed2's points. But you also have to look at the positives. Klopp has got us playing more consistently in the league. This is out best start for god knows how many years. He has had to fold on the financial aspect of buying players but he doesn't decide the fees. The two European finals he has got us two have been lost due to individual errors, kariius and moreno. Both players have now been replaced 1 in particular at great cost. So far appears to be a great investment.

We have since buvac left began with a more measured and unfortunately less exciting approach however I believe this is 100% more sustainable over an entire season and could ultimately lead to more success. I think it's too soon to put this solely down to his departure, as I'm not sure what lead to it He seems to have a good rapport with the players.

In regards to solanke and grujic fully agree that this was a mistake and one he should learn from. Tapping up players is totally unacceptable and meant we had to issue an embarrassing apology in 1 case. This should have meant the club have give him a very stern warning. The goalkeeping situation was messy and has now been resolved.

All in all klopp is far from perfect but he has improved us year on year and as long as the fans have hope that he can bring success I for do, he will stay. We are currently competing against one of the best teams in the premier League era and aren't far off, 1 game away from qualification to he last 16 for the seconds consecutive year from a really tough group. There have been bad moments but I'm hoping he has learnt from his mistakes and we can bring a trophy back.

i will be really disappointed if we don't sign atleast 4 players.

1.) 21 Nov 2018 18:17:56
We need to get rid of Glen Johnson.

2.) 21 Nov 2018 18:55:53
Why not 8 players, OP?

3.) 21 Nov 2018 20:17:15
8 is too much of a change in one window.

4.) 21 Nov 2018 20:24:07
I'd be disappointed if we don't get rid of atleast 4. Imo that's what the next 2 windows will be all about, getting rid of the lads who are sat there doing bugger all. I'm not saying we aren't going to sign anybody, I'm sure we'll sign a couple but the most important thing is getting rid of the players like Clyne, Migs, Grujic etc.

5.) 22 Nov 2018 07:18:55
When I read this post I thought "I must have had a really long nap and woke up at the end of December. " It's still November lads, what are you talking about?

6.) 22 Nov 2018 12:44:25
Ninja be prepared to be very disappointed.

Eamonsf, yes you are correct i had no clue about him before I saw him in the world cup.
Also, his wc performances were crap for a RB, somehow he and france survived the belgian onslaught.

Hence, the analysis that he is overrated based on what I saw in wc.

We have back ups in every position for now except for a back up for vvd and salah.
If origi were to leave we won't have a back up for mane on the left as well.
