question for the eds

brendan rogers seems to like the look of will hughes at derby but obviously the money is going on experienced players to build up the squad.
........................cut...............

mystic red

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to money, but no, that is not allowable.

have it from a good source that Liverpool are not chucking all there eggs in one basket .
they are pushing hard to bring in the Russian winger and a fee is all but agreed, the sticking point might come with personnel terms as he will not come cheaply.
but I have been told that at least 3 other players will be arriving tomorrow and deals have already been done behind the scenes.
im really looking forward to tomorrow as normally sit in front of tv only to get to 11 and find we got nobody.
something tells me this one is going to be very different.

Palhinha this guy is the missing midfielder he is a beast and liverpool must get him in.

mystic red

1.) 27 Aug 2023 09:26:42
Okay, then. Anything else?

2.) 27 Aug 2023 10:25:21
Mystic I think Palhina would be a very good signing but I think due to his age and price tag he doesn’t fall under into our criteria.

3.) 27 Aug 2023 12:08:16
Pal Gina would do the job for us, but price and age?

4.) 27 Aug 2023 12:42:44
MOTD fever?

5.) 27 Aug 2023 13:13:10
Oh, and one more thing. "We must sign him"? Says who, exactly?

6.) 27 Aug 2023 14:20:53
To be fair I agree he should be brought in. and I think the age thing goes right out the window after endo. Age isn't that bad anyway.

05 Aug 2019 15:14:15
adrian is a good number 2 but we need to keep Wilson and get an attacking midfielder in or we are going to struggle.

mystic red

1.) 05 Aug 2019 15:23:23
Going to struggle? We are the Champions of Europe! I’d like to see us get another attacking player but even if we don’t we’ll still be fine.

2.) 05 Aug 2019 15:34:40
Origi is a decent replacement for Firmino through the centre but for me he is not a wide player. When he plays on the left or right it feels like another case of a square peg in a round hole.

3.) 05 Aug 2019 16:36:59
Brewster, origi, Shaq, ox are cover for the front 3,and Shaq and ox can cover in midfield too.

{Ed025's Note - which is why we are all saying the cover is weak gmil..

4.) 05 Aug 2019 16:48:52
I don't understand how we'd struggle, we got 97 points and won the champions league last season, we've lost a LB and a ST who hardly featured. We've added Ox who didn't kick a ball last season and Brewster.

So already we're in a better position squad wise than we were last season, add to that players like Fab and Naby, Allison settling in. The world class players reaching peak age, Mane Salah Allison, Virg. The squad is more settled and understand the system more.

I'd love to add an AM/ LW and LB but I don't get the meltdown.

5.) 05 Aug 2019 16:57:02
We don't need to keep Wilson, I couldn't see him even making the bench for most games unless there are several big injuries.

{Ed025's Note - i agree taa,

6.) 05 Aug 2019 17:40:32
I disagree about Wilson. I know he may not be seen as good enough and not a Klopp type player, but what a great option from the bench if things aren't working.

He's all about being able to score from range and in some games when teams are parking the bus, that's exactly what's needed.

7.) 05 Aug 2019 18:47:54
OP, so we would struggle if Wilson got sold? Are you serious? Have you seen him play? You don't even know he is on the field until he has the ball. I watched the Lyon game and I did not even know he was playing half the time. Harvey Elliott (6 yrs his junior) came on and wanted the ball almost every second and worked hard to get on it. Wilson did none of that and the goal he scored will never paper over what I saw.

Wilson is not good enuff and that is why he is getting sold, end of story. OP, you may think he is good enuff and that is your opinion BUT those that have seen him play and train countless times disagree with you.

{Ed025's Note - i hate to say this redwolf but i agree with you again, he is not good enough to be in this liverpool squad and everyone at the club know it and thats why they want shut....we have to stop all this agreeing malarkey mate.. :)

8.) 05 Aug 2019 18:51:10
I would have liked a replacement for Mane just in case as I believe that is our weakness in the squad. This pre season we have tried Kent Wilson Gini Ox and Origi there and none have given us the balance Sadio gives us. I would still have a cheeky bid for Ryan Fraser of Bournmouth.

9.) 05 Aug 2019 20:36:16
I get what you're saying Ed 025 but we have ox, lalana Brewster and Gomez who weren't available last season and who could we bring in of quality for cover for the front 3 that will know and except playing second fiddle to them.

{Ed025's Note - i never said it would be easy gmil as your front three are excellent, but if one of them gets a long term injury then who replaces him?...brewster is a kid and could be anything, origi is a cameo player and thats all he will ever be...then you are snookered mate..

10.) 05 Aug 2019 20:59:44
Ed25 IMO, I think we agree on a lot more than we disagree based on our muscular yet honest exchanges. As you know, I am not all "Everything LFC is great". I can be fair and balanced in my analysis of things even tho where you are concerned, you seem to be able bring out the "RED" in me. Top notch banter, as always, man.

{Ed025's Note - its all about respecting the other persons point of view redwolf, i have been known to throw the odd grenade to create a bit of debate but i must say most of the posters on these pages are good sports, and while we dont always agree its a good craic and very enjoyable mate..

11.) 05 Aug 2019 21:02:37
ed025 I think for fa cup and carabao cup and even against some of the weaker sides at home Wilson will be good enough. And just bulks the squad out a bit I don't think there is that much between him and Origi and he did ok for us last season. I would of rather sold both and signed 1 player that was step up from both of them but it is what it is we need to sell before we can add anymore to are squad. I think Kent is miles away but I do think if most of the first team are in Wilson will be ok. I do think the raving about how much better city squad is than are squad is very far of the mark don't think Mahrez is any better than Shaqiri, I know they have Sanebut he should start its just he needs to get Bernardo Silva into the team. we will have to see how good Brewster is but I am not a massive Jesus being an atheist. I know there midfield is stronger than ours but are defence is miles a head of there's Stones and Otamendi are awful defenders. so its a bit 50/ 50 for me.

{Ed025's Note - to be honest i think mahrez is miles better than shaq grino, but the rest of it is hard to argue with mate..

12.) 06 Aug 2019 08:18:53
Here's hoping your prediction for the season is the same as last seasons with fabinho Ed25. 😉.

{Ed025's Note - i dont get it right all the time KK...only 99.999999 of it mate..

05 Jul 2018 13:42:08
why do we need . Shaqiri mane and salah will play most weeks fekir if he arrives can cover there and milner and chamberlain can both play wide that's not including woodburn, wilson, kent and ojo who all could act as cover.

mystic red

1.) 05 Jul 2018 15:18:09
I don't expect Ojo and certainly not Kent to be counted on anytime soon. I would expect Kent to be sold.

2.) 05 Jul 2018 19:41:43
we still have cover hope the mina rumours are true as he looked a beast but please liverpool board just go and spend the bloody money on oblek.

if arsenal win games this week and we lose today at west ham is there a chance everton could let arsenal turn them over next weekend.

mystic red

1.) 14 May 2017 07:29:28
Let's forget about Arsenal. We cannot rely on other teams to mess up now. There should be no such thought of us losing today. We need to win whether it be by a fluke or smashing WH.

Supporters, fans, players, manager, the tea lady and everyone else involved in this club need to have a winning mentality today from the very first second the match starts till the very last second.

Come on Pool!

2.) 14 May 2017 08:25:55
I can't see Everton deliberately losing to Arsenal. I remember when we played Kenny's Blackburn at Anfield on the last day, and if we lost Man u could not win the title. We won that game 2-0, but United didn't beat West Ham, so Blackburn won the title. I remember loads of fans were calling for Liverpool to lose, just to stop United, and for Kenny's team to win the league.

3.) 14 May 2017 09:25:08
Thing is, we shouldn't be relying on Everton again and other teams to do us favours. It's when you fail to beat Bournemouth, palace, Burnley, Southampton etc.

29 May 2016 06:57:08
klopp is clearly looking to have a major overhaul of the midfield and defense but i'm very concerned that there is no talk of an out and out striker.
ings and origi will be good players for next season but neither is a true 20 goal a season player, benteke is already packing and sturridge is in the medical room again .
if we go into the season with out bringing in somebody we will be mid table again at best.

mystic red

1.) 29 May 2016 07:41:18
If it is desperate then Firmino will lead the line, you can't sign a new striker just in case 3 are injured, it just doesn't work.

2.) 29 May 2016 09:03:34
I think forwards are the least of our problems.

3.) 29 May 2016 09:18:07
You're kidding right? Both Ings and Origi are 20 goal strikers. Ings has shown he can score in the prem with two sides and an injury cost him 90% of last season, otherwise with the chances we create he'd have grabbed that.
Anyone who saw Origi under Klopp saw goals, whether he started or as a sub. Again a full season and hopefully 40+ games across league and cup, he should return 20 goals.

We were really inconstant last season, Klopp will get his squad together and hopefully drum that out. With more coaching time available without Europe, our team will play and create heavy metal football as he says, plenty plenty goals.

4.) 29 May 2016 09:47:15
Is this post a joke? So we need what 5/ 6/ 7 strikers going in to next year. That will guarantee top 8 surely.
Please read the posts and what the ed's have said about 500 times.
Also if you are a LFC fan which clearly you are not, you would realize that from an attacking sense we probably need one out and out winger. By the way the ed's have posted who is of interest about 500 times because of dopey hourly questions from people looking for impossible answers.
Absolutely clueless! Ed's I salute your patience I really do.

5.) 29 May 2016 10:53:12
Origi is as good a young CENTRE FORWARD (not attacking player) as any in the world today. In terms of understanding the role he is absolutely exceptional for someone so young. His hold up play is that of an experienced international striker, for instance, not a young one bursting onto the scene.
We really should be looking to build the team around him and Emre Can in my opinion.

6.) 29 May 2016 11:01:51
Ings, Origi, Sturridge, Firmino, Benteke and the problem that is Balotelli.

We really don't need another striker at present. If anything we need to trim the numbers down in this department. It's such a shame that Benteke couldn't do more in regards to scoring and looking like the striker we saw at Villa, who was able to bully defences and help him stake a place.

But i'm getting quite tired of this ''one season to impress'' mentality many of us seem to have. It just costs the club lots of money.

Buy a big money signing, discard big money signing for pennies on the pound. Balo need to get shipped out but other than that, Klopp might as well stick with what he's got. Ings and Origi are workers and Studge is the flamboyant able player with firmino able to play in a number of positions and had his first season in English football and then we have Benteke the plan B type of striker who can really only get better and hopefully find his confidence.

We need to understand and accept that Klopp needs a proper season and preseason with his squad. Last season we saw glimpses of what he can do with what Rodgers spent millions on. Or at least that's my opinion at present.

7.) 29 May 2016 11:48:45
if we lose a striker ( ie benteke) then I would expect a forward to arrive but not necessarily a striker. Likely someone that can play all across the front line or a pacey winger. if have enough options for strikers especially as usually play just 1.

8.) 29 May 2016 13:49:17
We have ings, origi and sturridge, 3 bloody good strikers from what i have seen, not perfect but i think we're lucky to have them all personally.

Benteke will leave. Sinclair has left. Dunn and yesil will too. Balotelli will also leave. Firmino can play there as cover.

If anything we have more than enough strikers. I'd be more interested in shoring up our defence, improving the quality of our midfield and maybe getting some wingers who actually chip in with goals and assists and help the team.

9.) 29 May 2016 14:44:20
Woolback, you're bang on.

If we're looking at 'forwards' then it needs be a wide player who can bring goals and assists; not a striker.

Say what you want but when somebody comes on a site with 1st hand gossip that Milner will be at leftback the day after he actually plays that position it sort of looks like closing the gate after horse has bolted. what's your next exclusive mignolet to start in goal as karius is injured.
