Any truth to interest in moroccan
Sofyan mrabat?
And where does he fit. he is a fabinho type from what i've seen.

liver4ever

{Ed002's Note - Sofyan Amrabat (DM) Fiorentina know they will lose money they overpaid for the player so they may look to hold on to him although his replacement has already been signed. Spurs contacted Fiorentina through a third party to take him as an Ndombele replacement in the summer, and Liverpool and Nice have had scouts watch him, but it is scraping the barrel rather.}

1.) 04 Dec 2022 00:46:38
“…but it is scraping the barrel rather…” literally the textbook definition of withering criticism. Ed is spot on.

2.) 04 Dec 2022 04:28:44
Here comes VVVV to repeatedly tell us that a player we probably won’t buy isn’t good enough. Great days.

3.) 04 Dec 2022 08:58:55
Don’t forget negative victor that Ed said all you do is whinge and moan about every player mentioned especially when you said Mount is useless.

4.) 04 Dec 2022 09:08:40
@VVVV, out of curiosity, how many times have you seen the fella play? You must have an awful lot of time on your hands. I’d never even heard of him until three days ago yet you seem to have been a regular spectator at his (and virtually every other player mentioned as a possible transfer target for transfer) for the last three years. You really should put yourself forward as a scout for the club.

5.) 04 Dec 2022 10:09:39
Please no WDW. We’d never buy anyone!

6.) 06 Dec 2022 15:53:33
He's looking bloody good today.

Hi there eds and reds!

I read somewhere we are keeping taps on
Todd cantwell from norwich (which reminds a lot with one Previous red called MCMANAMAN! )
I wouldn't mind seeing him in red shirt!

But do we actually have any interest?

Many thanx.

liver4ever

1.) 07 Jan 2020 19:51:50
I really liked Emi Buendia from their team. Really he would be good option if he they went down. What do you think Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - good but not convinced he is good enough to get in our squad, let alone team.}

2.) 07 Jan 2020 20:52:03
We have Jones.

3.) 07 Jan 2020 22:14:24
How do you rate Cantwell Ed? Can't say I've watched a Norwich game in full this season (ours discluded) but he's picked up a few goals and assists, been a gem in my fantasyvteam!

4.) 08 Jan 2020 11:03:50
Cantwell also reminds me of a certain Youssi Benayoun. And I like his dance moves too! Lol!
But is the rumor legit?

5.) 09 Jan 2020 06:27:13
Haven't actually watched enough of Cantwell to know if he's any good, but he's a real gem in FPL.

6.) 11 Jan 2020 21:34:48
The only similarity between Cantwell and McManaman is the hair! He’s a good player but a worker with quality. Macca was a gem of a player with the ball at his feet. He glided past players with ease. Cantwell is just not that kind of player in the slightest. Looking like someone does not make you play like them.

{Ed025's Note - steve was a very good player for the reds BP, unfortunately his stint with the national side was less so, as effective as an an ash tray on a motorbike would be the right comparison mate.. :)

11 May 2017 00:05:25
alot of reporting all the sudden on simon kjaer to liverpool!
didnt he once reject liverpool to eventually end up in the turkish league.
havnt seen him play at all but seems like lazy reporting. and a player!

liver4ever

1.) 11 May 2017 00:48:35
Old recycled link, thankfully cause he is absolutely awful.

2.) 11 May 2017 09:27:05
Rather Klavan than Kjaer. Says it all really.

3.) 11 May 2017 12:05:16
Rather neither to be honest.

4.) 11 May 2017 12:21:24
What about a klavan and kjaer partnership now yer talkin.

5.) 11 May 2017 17:54:31
Kjaer claims he turned down Liverpool but there's probably very little truth to that, considering he's a massive Liverpool fan and has expressed desire to play for us multiple times in the past.

6.) 11 May 2017 23:31:50
Isn't that rumour from 5 years ago?

7.) 12 May 2017 07:50:35
I'd take Kjaer over Klaven all day long.

8.) 13 May 2017 14:55:42
Mertesacker would give Kjaer some competition in a sprint race. No thankyou.

22 May 2016 09:33:08
Hi dear eds,

Is it true we are after danny drinkwater?

And why is it that we keep looking to midfielders anyway.

Thanx.

liver4ever

{Ed001's Note - Drinkwater will be linked to every club over the transfer window, I don't expect him to go anywhere and the links are spurious.}

1.) 22 May 2016 14:16:10
lol did you see the midfield during the final, better yet, the majority of the season.

05 Oct 2015 23:14:37
I would be immensely happy to see klopp in liverpool. i dreamt of it for so long and just felt that its never going to happen!! I pray it does now! But. i'm abit concerned!!

IF WE DO GET HIM. i'm worried with the current kind of players we have. how is going to use them and fit them the way he likes to play! We potentially have now three good forwards. and klopp is known to use only one! And the the other two none of them versatile enough to play on the wing or anywhere else!

He regularly uses wingers in his formation or players who can do the job there. and at the moment we only have one recognized winger (ibe) !

He employs an attacking mid who always support the striker and we have two top att.mids (coutinho, firmino) .

He usually employs two mobile ball playing mid destroyers. do we even have one!! Lucas is an excellent destoyer but he's not mobile enough or have the range of passing!

What is he going to do with milner and henderson ! I can only see one making the first 11 honestly!

And the biggest issue. defense!! Hopefully it mean the end of the skrtel show. but who will be his replacement!

A lot of questions for klopp to handle and most importantly, will he be backed financally in January to make some reshuffling of the brendan debacle in transfers?

Still. i'm optimistic none the less!!

11 May 2023 08:31:52
Leighton clarckson apparently did well in aberdeen.

Whats the plan for him next season?

Many thanx.

liver4ever

{Ed001's Note - he will be looked at in pre-season, along with Bradley and Morton. If he impresses like Bajcetic did last summer, then he will be in and around the first team. If not then a decision will be made on sale or loan. At least that supposes that the club do not receive an offer that makes sense before then. At the moment though, the plan is to give him a chance to impress.}

1.) 11 May 2023 09:23:29
Hey Tris. What's your thoughts on Bajcetic? I see comments about us needing a replacement for Fab. I hope Bajcetic can fill this role. I think he knocked Fab off for a while before his injury. I think he needs some wisdom as to when to play it safe and when to let his natural tendencies run. But, he is young and I think he's a very promising first team regular.

{Ed001's Note - if he recovers fine from his injury (which he should do) then I would be happy for him to be a fairly regular starter myself. He is an outstanding young player in midfield. His time as a defender has made him more aware than most and he is very impressive since moving forward.}

2.) 11 May 2023 09:42:36
I’m not sure I would trust Bajetic to be a starter, he’s still very young, and who would be the under study?
From what we have seen he can hold his own but I would still bring someone in to replace Fabinho with Bajetic the understudy.

{Ed001's Note - why not just have Fabinho as the understudy?}

3.) 11 May 2023 10:13:30
Would Fab be ok with being an understudy to 19 years old Ed1? I assume at his age he would want to play as much as he can.

{Ed001's Note - then he would be welcome to ask for a transfer if not. It is what it is I am afraid, he has not deserved to be the starter this season.}

4.) 11 May 2023 10:24:49
Ed001 I didn't see much of Clarkson other than highlights but it was quite noticeable that he was playing on the wing. He looked like a little scouse Coutinho. Not sure if he can translate that to the Premier League as its a huge step up, but on the Aberdeen fan forums they certainly love him and want him to stay.

Agree fully with you on Bradley. He could be challenging to start next season. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him get a few chances on the right wing as his ability going forward is frightening. Every single time in his career that he has stepped up, he's not only held his own, bit has actually stood out to such an extent he's cleaned up in terms of individual awards. He's a very special talent.

On the DM situation, i think Morton and Bajcetic have earned a place in the plans for next season for sure. Bajcetic looks to be a potential mainstay for years to come, and Morton had avery good season anchoring the Blackburn midfield. Signing a new DM only makes sense to me if Fabinho leaves. Which I don't think he will.

{Ed001's Note - on the wing? He was playing in the centre when I watched him earlier in the season.}

5.) 11 May 2023 10:45:46
That's what it looked like Ed001 but as I say, i could only find highlights. Not managed to watch a single Aberdeen game this season. It may be that he was just drifting out wide from a central AM position. Either way he looked very effective cutting onto his right foot to shoot or whipping crosses into the box. It was weird to see as i only ever saw him play as a DM for the academy or Blackburn prior to this season.

The attacking freedom seemed to suit him though. Might have even given him an outside shot at a future in the Liverpool squad.

{Ed001's Note - he does like freedom, he has worked very hard on his technique so I agree it might well suit him.}

6.) 11 May 2023 11:01:10
Ed001 if we are looking to add Ugarte though mate I’m not sure what the plan is with Fab or Bajetic?

{Ed001's Note - Bajcetic is perfectly capable of playing further forward as well.}

7.) 11 May 2023 11:55:46
As an Aberdeen season ticket holder and massive LFC fan it’s been great to see Leighton clarkson at pittodre. He’s been a great asset to Aberdeen. Always looking for the ball, playing the midfield as a box to box player with freedom to roam. He has an excellent passing ability and his goals scored have all pretty much been spectacular ones.

I believe Aberdeen have asked about his availability to return on loan for next season (he is way above spl level) but I have heard rangers and Celtic have also been keeping tabs.

Whatever happens he will have a great career either with LFC or not.

8.) 11 May 2023 12:33:16
I feel another loan is best for both Morton and Clarkson. We will have midfielders coming in, lots of midfielders going out but we aren't going to replace them all in the same window. There needs to be a transition period. Next summer Thiago and Henderson will both be out of contract and the long-term futures of Fabinho and Jones may be assessed. I think another season in the Championship would do them both the world of good.

9.) 11 May 2023 12:59:16
Baj is the future of this club. very impressive. Fabinho is the 1 who is on borrowed time here, he's 1 of the worst performers this season by a mile or more.

10.) 11 May 2023 13:05:59
Cheers KlopptheKop. Appreciate you sharing that mate.

Babbity Rabbity, if they go on loan again it has to be higher level. Personally I'd rather integrate them into the team.

We're losing a minimum of Ox, Keita, Milner and Arthur so there are at least 4 midfield positions up for grabs. Thiago and Fabinho also aren't nailed on to stay but i think they will.

If we brought in 2 midfielders and Clarkson and Morton return from loan that would be 4 in 4 out.

Klopp has complained publically about how injuries have dented his ability to rotate which has increased injuries to the players who are fit. It's a vicious cycle and the only way to break it is to replace injury prone players with players who are more likely to stay fit. I'd personally like to see:
- MacAllister in, Keita out
- Ugarte in, Milner out
- Clarkson in, Ox out
- Morton in, Arthur out

I'd use Ugarte more as a Milner replacement in a box to box role. I think his ball winning capabilities would be different gravy playing that way. He has that same aggressive approach as Milner as well.

As i say, I think Fabinho will get another season. Klopp doesn't turn his back on his favourites after 1 bad season. I think having MacAllister and Ugarte ahead of him, and Trent stepping in alongside him, you would see a revitalised Fabinho anyway. Plus we can gradually phase him out for Bajcetic in the coming seasons.

11.) 11 May 2023 13:06:21
Where is Ben Doak? He looked so exciting. Hope everything is fine with the lad.

12.) 11 May 2023 13:41:03
It would be very wrong if the first team prospects of Jones are still assessed. I think he has performed brilliantly in the last few games. He deserves a spot in the first team XI next season. Hopefully, he does not suffer from any more freak injuries.

13.) 11 May 2023 14:14:34
Ed001, because Fabinho isn’t good enough to be Bajetic’s understudy lol
Fabinho would be right at the top of my list to replace, he’s an absolute liability now, such a shame, was one of my favourites until this year.

14.) 11 May 2023 14:55:24
MK the issue is we need to lose bodies, not replace them. We have way too many midfielders as is. Championship-level is fine for their age. People have unrealistic expectations of which clubs might be interested. There is no way a Premier League club would guarantee either of them regular football on loan. I think they need to keep playing regularly and gain experience. They can come back into the fold when there are more vacancies and they are better players next summer.

15.) 11 May 2023 15:02:24
From what I’ve seen of Baj he looks to be better suited in our midfield 2 rather than the Fabinho role.

16.) 11 May 2023 16:08:24
Babbity i am happier for them to go on loan again but it has to be a step up. Morton should be looking to go to a lower end Prem team now he's proven he's up to playing in a top 6 Championship team. Clarkson maybe could try Celtic/ Rangers so he can get some European football and be involved in a title race, now he's grown his reputation in Scotland.

I agree with you about trimming the squad mate but the youngsters have to be pushed in my opinion. Every players target should he to play at the highest level they can. If they both go on similar loans again, we learn nothing we didn't already know and then what? Same next summer too? Got to push them out of their comfort zone. Maybe even consider loans abroad.

17.) 11 May 2023 17:24:50
As much as I’d love clarkson back at Aberdeen for another season he needs a bigger challenge. He’s a fantastic person too. Always makes time for the kids before and after matches getting photos and autographs.

He is also never seen out in the town enjoying the night life he’s been a model professional by all accounts at Aberdeen. Well grounded young man.

14 Sep 2020 10:42:46
Apparently grujic agent has just said the the player will stay with liverpool until at least January. is that true? And what about his work permit issue?

liver4ever

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are applying for a Work Permit for Marco Grujic under the exceptions rule - I assume they will keep Klopp away from the meeting. I suspect he is still for sale.}

1.) 14 Sep 2020 11:25:07
I like Grujic. West Ham signed a very similar player in Soucek, and not many Premier League teams can cope with his late runs into the box or his threat at set pieces. If Grujic stays i hope he gets a chance.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 12:53:24
Is that not a little strange Ed though applying for a permit but also trying to sell him?

{Ed002's Note - No. What if he is priced out of a move?}

3.) 14 Sep 2020 12:54:32
I would assume the work permit is more of a 'safety net' of sorts. If the player cannot be offloaded at the very least he would be eligible to play for Liverpool. Seems a good idea, especially if there are no buyers.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

4.) 14 Sep 2020 13:34:20
Ed to those work permits cost money?

{Ed002's Note - There are fees due and there is a meeting to discuss applications.}

10 Jun 2018 23:14:37
our dear eds,

after the fek deal falling through
who are the other potential targets for that position.

many thanx.

liver4ever

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

1.) 11 Jun 2018 02:06:03
Draxler, Lemar, Hiyech.
Hiyech would-be a good fit but I think Draxler if properly motivated can be a world beater and he would be cheap compared to Lemar and Fekir as well.

23 Oct 2017 08:50:45
apparently poor lovren removed LFC from his bio in instagram.

i hope we remove him from the squad peremnantly.

i blame klopp for sticking with him and presisting with playing with no actual defensive midfielder.

lets just hope we make it to top 4 somehow by the end of the season.

liver4ever

1.) 23 Oct 2017 09:25:45
He has to drop Migs, play Can in the DM, never play Milner in CM again unless vs Maribor, drop Lovren for Gomez. These are things Klopp can do right now that won't fix all our issues BUT will definitely help. Will he do it? We will see.

{Ed025's Note - he has to do something bingo, his job may depend on it mate..

2.) 23 Oct 2017 09:40:42
I would say he needs to drop Can as well, the guy does absolutely nothing since the transfer window has closed, like seriously he is in horrible form and keeps getting picked despite us being told Klopp doesn't rate him. Apparently Klopp wants rid of Mignolet as well but i don't believe that either anymore because he keeps picking him and he even gave him a new improved contract.

{Ed025's Note - that could be so as not to lose him for nothing if he ran his contract down mate..

3.) 23 Oct 2017 09:58:51
But we are already loosing him for nothing mate, he has obviously agreed to some sort of deal with Juventus and will be signing for them in 2 months, they might come back then and offer 10 million euros to get him now or something like that, but they are already signing him and he will not commit to a new contract and what are 10 million good for anyway. We're offering him 80 000 £ a week btw, 20 K less than the mighty Worldclass joker that is Lovren ;)

{Ed025's Note - i was talking about migs mate, sorry i should have made that a bit clearer..

4.) 23 Oct 2017 11:10:03
I wouldn’t worry about losing Migs for nothing, at this rate we will be paying another team to take him.

21 Sep 2017 09:45:43
dear eds,

it seems we are all sinking to a hopeless pit of despair at the moment. we can only hope things get better .
but do u see any young centerback prospects in the youth teams we have at the moment in any way special? can any of them advance into a first team role by any chance?

many thanx in advance.

liver4ever

{Ed001's Note - this has been asked a lot since the VVD debacle and the consensus is Masterson.}

1.) 21 Sep 2017 10:03:43
Have heard only good things about him, except that he might be a tad lacking in pace but all other skills are supposed to be good for a CB prospect.

Read somewhere he cost us £800 - 900k.
Incredible money in my eyes for one so young (think he was 16 or 17 when he joined us), so he must have something special about him.

2.) 21 Sep 2017 10:17:03
Have to say when I've seen Masterson he didn't appear to lack pace, Kev. Though he may have just looked quick relative to the age group/ quality of opposition.

My only concern with him is that he tends to go for a wander similar to how Van Dijk, Maguire of Luiz would. He plays a decent pass or beats a man and then just gets a bit carried away. That of course leaves gaps at the back. The difference is that unlike Matip, he busts a gut to get back into position.

Still very young though mate. I think maybe January time when the FA cup kicks off he deserves a cameo or two.

3.) 21 Sep 2017 10:37:29
No you may well be right MK.
I haven't seem more than 3 or 4 matches with him in them and it was someone else who watches youth football over here in Ireland who had told me this.

Like I said, I only have heard good things other than that and have seen only good things so far.
He has looked accomplished to me.
Don't think he's quite ready yet for senior football though, I might be wrong there too. I suppose it depends on the opposition.

God forbid we give the kid a chance and lose to a Premier league team in a cup match, can you imagine the utter tosh that'd be spouted on here then?!

4.) 21 Sep 2017 11:38:08
It'd probablybgo into meltdown Kev 🙄😂.

5.) 21 Sep 2017 12:29:15
Especially if Woodburn is on the pitch too - see what I did there?!
"Meltdown" - "Woodburn" eh eh?!
Oh thank fig it's nearly Friday, I'm getting desperate :)

Its a real shame that he doesn't get a place in the squad. he should be there ahead if skrtel!

liver4ever

{Ed002's Note - I don't suppose is too happy at Liverpool failing to play him in his first season and then not knowing what to do with him, sending him out on loan at the last minute for the second. Ilori, Aspas and Alberto represent more than £22M of wasted transfer funds by Rodgers with no plan at all how to use the players formulated by the club. This is a prime example of the dreadful mismanagement of funds and players that the owns will want cut out completely.}

I actually met a serbian guy who is a supporter of grujic team and follows football very much. obviously he is just a fan not an expert but he said exactly that grujic is good and has potential. but nowhere near ready for the premiere league yet. and he was and many others according to him over there very surprised to see liverpool move for him.

I hope he proves them wrong. but it seems realistic not to expect much of him for a couple of seasons.

So a single good season is worth the investment? . not denying his ability. no one ever can. but it seems he can't last a few games without injury anymore. which is very frustrating and any title seeking team can't build a winning team on a player like that.
