A moment of your time please Ed001.

If we sign a RB in the summer, do you think Gomez will be moved into CB as early as next season in a more permanent role, whilst TAA will be given more time in midfield?

{Ed001's Note - I expect they will get more chances in those positions yes. Particularly Trent in midfield.}

1.) 13 Mar 2018 12:46:07
Tbh, I expect the RB positions to remain untouched this summer. Clyne will go and Gomez and TAA will continue to rotate there. Klopp seems to have figured out our midfield needs serious work and another experienced CB plus cover for our front 3 will mostly be our priority.

2.) 13 Mar 2018 12:50:12
Can't wait to see him in midfield, he is going to be the next Steven Gerrard. I think, in time, he will become our highest scoring midfielder.

3.) 13 Mar 2018 13:08:05
That is a big call super, let us hope you are correct. I can see Keita getting 10 goals a season.

4.) 13 Mar 2018 14:21:21
plus plenty of assists .

5.) 13 Mar 2018 15:13:37
YOur full backs are the weakest area of the pitch! It’s laughable now people have shifted to midfield to solve all the 100 problems! We offer no width IB! Absolutely none and that’s a Full backs problem! If Klopp doesn’t touch that area then bye bye to solid parking the bus teams! I don’t know how to explain to people on this site! Dear God, it took me 5 years to convince our midfield is dross I am sure it would take another 3 years to realize we need reinforcement on the flanks!

6.) 13 Mar 2018 15:54:07
'Took 5 years to convince our midfield is dross'

5 years ago we had a completely different midfield - in that time the likes of Gerrard, Lucas, Sterling, Lallana, Allan, Hendo and Milner have passed through it at different stages of their careers - some have now left, gotten on in years or had injuries take their toll but our midfield has not been 'dross' for 5 years, you've just repeated the same point for 5 years until eventually circumstances changed enough to make it true. As I'm sure will now be the case with full backs.

7.) 13 Mar 2018 17:13:02

That midfield won us nothing why we are looking at top class players in the summer!

People just don’t value the importance of full backs and what they provide to a team! Now the trend on this page is “ midfielders would solve all the problems “ it will continue until they realize “ Why are we playing narrow and why can’t beat the best teams when the make 2 sets of 4 players Wall”.

8.) 13 Mar 2018 19:32:29
Harry, what are you rambling about? Who have you been trying to convince that our midfield is dross for 5 years? 5 years ago in 13/ 14, we almost won the PL with the devastating Lucas, Gerard and YEAH, Hendo (the same sideways passing one, according to you) and Cou in midfield. Where they dross then? You seem to succeed at contradicting yourself in one statement, it's breathe-taking. A lot has changed in that span BUT we are very solid in midfield right now and we are trying to get better going forward in that area.

I expect a RB to be looked at in the summer cos Klavan may be gone (he'll be 33 soon and won't be hanging around here much longer) hence Gomez may go to CB while Clyne will go and TAA may either go into midfield or deputize with the incoming RB. Also, Ed01 has mentioned that the club has been looking at RB since the summer of 2016 and I think they still are.

9.) 13 Mar 2018 19:46:26
Baby D has been banging on about needing a DLP for a long long time.

I think the full back thing is a bit of a rant to be honest. Robertson is prepared to get forward when appropriate. We need a new right back though. 🤝.

10.) 13 Mar 2018 20:41:33
Ha ha ha Brover, We are so solid that we will have a new midfield unit for the next season, Kieta - Jorginho - Coutinho replacement! And I honestly can’t wait for it.

The Devasatating liverpool 5 years ago did not have Lucas. It had Gerard sitting ( Jorginho ), Henderson Ball winning ( Keita ) and Coutinho the playmaker ( Lemar )

That’s your midfield which will take us closer to the title next season!

11.) 13 Mar 2018 21:10:48
I think midfield could be a great worry in the summer. I think Can will leave and there’s a good chance both Milner and Lallana will leave also. That’s leaves us with Henderson (injury issues), Chamberlain, Wijnaldum and Keita. I think we could see two midfielders arrive and one of Wilson or Grujic make the squad. Allan would be great but there is work permit issues with him so will likely leave us.

Lemar would be a great addition with his skill, versatility and threat. Meyer is a good option for free and as an impact sub, but I can see Ceballos and Lemar arriving this summer.

I don’t think any attackers will arrive I think we will just see departures such as Sturridge, Origi and maybe Ings. If Ings were to leave I’d li, e to think we could convince Brewster to stay.

Question for the Ed's,

Was wondering how leagues have come over time to have a particular reputation for the style of football played there?

For example what led to the PL being a league where football is played quickly, and Serie A one where it's slow.

Likewise as it appears harder for players to adapt to the PL for this matter, why have PL sides had lea success in Europe the past few years?

Cheers and thanks for all your work, love the site and the Ed's comments, happy new year.

{Ed001's Note - the reputation comes from the way they are. I really don't understand your question, the Premier League is played quickly, Serie A does tend to be slower.}

1.) 05 Jan 2018 21:33:34
I mean I was wondering how it came to be that England for e. g. produces a fast style of football, whether it was down to type of players produced in the country or managerial philosophies etc.

2.) 05 Jan 2018 21:58:01
Maybe you should look back on all the games from the last 50/ 60 years or so from each league and see how they have developed.

3.) 05 Jan 2018 22:00:31
I think it's the eagerness to have big bulky CBs in England quick interplays tear them to pieces. On the continent they tend to have more defensively aware defenders who can play a bit of football.

4.) 05 Jan 2018 22:21:23
My suggestion would be to consider the climate - if you played Prem-style hi-tempo football in Italian heat the whole team would end up with heat stroke. Surely the temperatures have had a very significant impact. The cooler climate northern countries tend to play a bit more quickly than the southern ones.

Non Liverpool question,

{Ed002's Note - This isn’t the place to ask.}

14 Dec 2017 19:09:10
Ed001, do you think there's anything being done or said to Coutinho behind closed doors from Klopp etc at the club RE his work rate?

Its appalling, and if I were one of his teammates (particularly Bobby as he's having to work for both of them) I'd be furious.

He needs to be dropped and at least made to earn his place in the team.

{Ed001's Note - there will be things said about it, but there is not a lot you can do when a player's heart is not in it.}

06 Dec 2017 19:21:31
Thoughts on Coutinho captaining the side today ed001?

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand that, he is not a leader and he has not deserved it. Though it is up to him to respond with a performance and good attitude. Fingers crossed it is the right choice.}

1.) 06 Dec 2017 20:09:59
Agree with yo Ed1 but hey 2 goals what do we know! Bobby just brilliant.

2.) 06 Dec 2017 20:29:28
Bobby has been absolutely top drawer tonight.

3.) 06 Dec 2017 20:41:32
He could smile a bit. Maybe if he gets a hat trick? What do people think? Is he being focussed or does he hate it so much at Anfield?

4.) 06 Dec 2017 21:01:15
He just being professional but unfortunately just wants out.

5.) 06 Dec 2017 21:05:44
Seems to have been the right choice lol.

6.) 06 Dec 2017 21:49:00
Ed01 a agree that he hasn't deserved it but by good that's one way to put the doubters to bed. look forward to your match review with a huge smile on me face like all us reds should have, But am sure the moaners will say we were lucky and we still not good enough unfortunately instead of enjoying what was a very good performance.

{Ed001's Note - I am just wondering how many we would have got if Bobby wasn't so crap and unable to score, as we have been told repeatedly!}

7.) 06 Dec 2017 21:59:52
I’d say he’s as much of a leader as henderson to be fair, just my opinion like, as a squad they all seem like good lads but no true leader there I think a fair few clubs are suffering with this at the minute though.

8.) 06 Dec 2017 22:23:48
Yeah ed01 a get what you are saying there mate, the truth is the exact opposite of what some posters say, imo without him a don't believe we would be as good as we are but just maybe we are watching a different player to some or maybe we just make it up lol.

9.) 06 Dec 2017 23:12:00
Hey Ed001. We don't have any leaders! Firmino was of course brilliant today, he didn't put a foot wrong in the first half. He glued the whole performance together. I don't recall anyone saying he was crap, (well maybe me but I was trying to make a point) . No one is saying he can't score goals, I bloody hope he can score goals he is our centre forward.

I just don't think it works when some players are injured or off form. Its more a change of system I am after, when its not going full tilt.

{Ed001's Note - why? The forwards are not the problem. This is idiocy that people constantly want to change the bits that are working to fix a problem that doesn't exist.}

Ed025, how can you call Karius a lemon? Lads only played a few games for us and he's young.

Certiainly not going to praise him yet as tour next great no 1 but don't you think it's fair to wait and see how he turns out before passing judgement? Looking through the those toffee spectacles again?!

{Ed025's Note - i have this philosophy you see hamish...if a guy knocks at my door wearing a green curly wig, bulbous red nose, yellow check suit and size 27 boots then i think to myself...this guys a clown, i dont need to interview him mate, i can tell straight away..

Hey Ed, I have a few mates in Spain who are RM fans and most of them love him and are very anti-Mourinho/ Perez; just out of curiosity what was the situation with Casillas then?

Thanks for all the hard work on the site it's great.

{Ed001's Note - they hate Mou and love Casillas because Casillas was Spanish and Mourinho is Portugese. Casillas played on that a lot to get his own way on everything. He was just an arse behind the scenes, caused great rifts between Spanish players and the rest.}

Got to be one of my favourite recent moments in football when Brad saved that penalty against West Ham having come on after Reina’s red card.

To even play so soon after his tragic situation was v brave; the point to the sky and the players gathering round him brought tears to my eyes.

A credit to the club and and that was a class gesture by the Feyenord fans YNWA.

Couldn't disagree more.

Not only is Hendo in my eyes an excellent leader and with him on he pitch we look far more organised and confident, but he is a crucial player for us and we sorely miss him when he's injured.

Technically sound with a good range of passing, but his drive, energy and passion are crucial for the way we play with Klopp esp.

Remember what happened in 2014 when Hendo was suspended and we lost the title? With him perhaps it could've been different.

Really feel for the lad as he has been constantly and unfairly abused by sections of our fan base for his whole time here, time to pay him some respect and appreciate how crucial he is for us.
