Apparently Arsenal are now willing to sell us Oxlade-Chamberlain fella for £25m due to new Premier League wage rules. Anything in this boyos?

1.) 23 Jun 2017 14:39:37
I would rather go for gelson martins if we really need another winger. Getting OX means another sturridge. Talented but poor fitness!

2.) 23 Jun 2017 14:50:38
thats ok Red, only Martins might cost double what they want for the Ox, let's go for a left back .

3.) 23 Jun 2017 14:52:32
Ox has played all over the pitch last season. Even he doesn't seem to know where he plays.

4.) 23 Jun 2017 14:53:45
Ox more versatile than Martins though. Good option off bench too.

5.) 23 Jun 2017 15:10:52
Surely if he's going to be a squad player at Liverpool he wouldn't join that's the main reason why he's been thinking about leaving Arsenal. Can't see that move happening to be fair.

6.) 23 Jun 2017 15:14:10
I think people too negatively overreact to Oxlaide Chamberlain. He's the kind of veratile quality that's good to have in your squad when injury holes need to be plugged. And yes, he's talented. Who knows, he could go on to profoundly improve under Klopp.

7.) 23 Jun 2017 15:16:55
If we were to get Ox I would think it would be for RWB and cover on the wings if needed.

8.) 23 Jun 2017 15:23:42
Pros : we have great forwards now with Mane, Firmino, Salah likely starters, but our imoact subs are Sturridge, Origi, Ings, Solanke. all strikers. The only natural wingers we could bring on (assuming Coutinho plays midfield) are Ojo, Woodburn and Wilson who are all more prospects rather than proven yet

Cons : Ox is hardly a game-changer, should we really be paying that much for someone when we can easily play Origi, Coutinho, Lallana, Firmino or even Solanke out wide, and then we also end up blocking Ojo and Wilson/ Woodburn from getting game time and developing.

Overall I would rather we focussed on fixing LB and CB.

9.) 23 Jun 2017 15:31:27
Ox is a poor player and is not better than those we already have in every position, even in goal so sorry he's not needed and we already have a jack of all trades in Milner. If we have 20m to burn, might as well address the FB issues in the first 11 instead of buying a perrenially woeful (and injured) reject form Arsenal, where players bar Sanchez, are forever stagnating.

{Ed002's Note - Yeah but Klopp wants him.}

10.) 23 Jun 2017 15:42:27
OMGosh Zimbo, you did it! And in pre-season! GO ON MY SON ;)

11.) 23 Jun 2017 15:54:23
he is can stay fit, while i do not think he is excellent at all, i think he would play a better game with the way we are playing football and we do need players that can make a difference from the bench, but i agree he wouldn't make my starting 11.still think he would actually surprise a few with his contribution.

12.) 23 Jun 2017 16:10:30
Haha mate, I assume you're referring to me finally spelling Lallana right!

13.) 23 Jun 2017 16:22:08
I don't see the point in signing him. He's not better than any of our wingers, he's not a full back and he's rotten in centre midfield (he made Scotland look world class. ) and that's not even going into his injury issues, I wish Jurgen didn't have the Klopp's for him.

14.) 23 Jun 2017 16:28:06
Assume this is related to the issues Arsenal will cause themselves if both Sanchez and Ozil sign big money contracts? Maybe fishing for a taker?

15.) 23 Jun 2017 16:36:59
Not a bad player and 25 million in this current market for an England international. Not bad if you ask me, great addition if it comes through.

16.) 23 Jun 2017 16:41:25
A good addition imo if we get him. Can play in a number of positions and is very energetic.

I assume he wants assured game time though ed? Something I am not sure we can offer him more than what Arsenal are currently doing.

Do you think he will come mate or more likely to sign a new contract and stay?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any assurances. I can tell you about the interest but I have no idea where it will lead.}

17.) 23 Jun 2017 16:47:39
Ok ed cheers.

18.) 23 Jun 2017 17:08:57
If this transfer happens, I really don't think Klopp sees Oxlade-Chamberlain as a starter anywhere. If anything, Ox's ability to slot in several positions makes him useful as a substitute or replacement for an injured player. And maybe play regularly in the league Cups games. If Ox thinks, or is made to think, that he'll start in the first 11, he probably has a surprise coming. Klopp likes the athletic and energetic type of players and he is just strengthening his bench. And I'm sure, next season, he wants to look over at his bench (when there's a need to close out games) and see experienced players like Ox sitting there, and not TAA, Ejarie and Woodburn, who are still not ready.

I was reading a bit of academic fantasy, a while back. The article said that if all the EPL games had ended after 60 minutes with halves of 30 minutes each, we would have won the title and Chelsea would have finished third. Of course this statistic is useless, but still indicates that we don't close out halves/ games very well. A stronger bench is part of the solution. Something that many have already pointed out on these pages many times.

19.) 23 Jun 2017 17:17:54
I can't understand the interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain at all. Surely, we have Lallana, Wijnaldum, Firmino (if we buy a main striker), plus Sturridge, Ings and Solanke. all of whom could make an impact from the bench and play in a variety of positions!
Let's concentrate on tightening up that wobbly defence and getting a left back!

20.) 23 Jun 2017 17:53:56
OX should be strict NO except if we want to give some company to Sturridge and keep giving the medical staff work.

Martins seems to be super duper on You Tube but not sure how it will pan out but overall looks better than OX.

If we have money to throw, Auba and Martins with one decent left back and Milner on right.

No CM because, Klopp believes the game has to be played only in opposition half.

We will try to outscore than to try and concede less.

Cheers.

21.) 23 Jun 2017 18:36:28
People need to try and stop comparing the interest in The Ox with the need for defensive reinforcements. I highly doubt the clubs plan is 'one or the other'. I imagine Klopp has his priorities in each position and will go for them accordingly. we've known for a while the priorities are LB, Winger, CB, Striker and then another Gigi/ lallana type midfielder, hence our interest in Keita and The Ox. Let the window run its course and trust Klopp will find the right players to fill each of the above positions.
Cheers.

22.) 23 Jun 2017 19:46:18
He probably wouldn't start, but for all you saying he isn't good enough. think of all the times last year when we had injuries. He needs work and i do not think he could ever be world class but he does have pace, he does pass the ball often when he should, he would probably suit our play and we need someone who could come on as a sub via injury or whatever and make an impact. i think he could.

23.) 23 Jun 2017 20:29:44
Keita and Ox are not at all comparable, Keita is a quality centre midfielder who has held his own against some of the best performers in Europe, Ox is a jack of all trades who doesn't have skillset to be a centre midfielder and has been exposed for his shortcomings time and again.

24.) 24 Jun 2017 01:16:00
We know klopp likes to pick a team according to the opposition and we know he likes interchangeable, versatile players. No surprise he likes ox at 25mil. Sure a lb and cb will sign either way. For 25mil I think it'd be a good signing. Not so important now we have salah.

25.) 24 Jun 2017 07:48:26
We have Wini and Milner who can cover the positions he covers, no need for a 25m back up. That money should be spent on a full back.

26.) 24 Jun 2017 10:29:06
Of would be quality on the half turn as back up for Gini and lallana, as we struggled with, one of them two out when can was playing more advanced last season, he would be quality and can fill rb and rw.

08 Mar 2016 13:41:53
I've seen several rumours lately about the young speedy spaniard Sergio Gomez I was wondering how accurate these rumours are as I have seen him play once or twice and believe he will be a meta signing.

{Ed002's Note - He is 15 years old, I would not start worrying about him forcing himself in to the first team at Liverpool for a few years.}

1.) 09 Mar 2016 01:13:18
Really zoom have u seen him play he's Only 15 I'm interested in which games You've seen him play in.

2.) 09 Mar 2016 09:15:58
ive seen him play on at the youtube stadium. he only played for 4:41 lazy git but what i seen of him he is brilliant and has a very very good future ahead of him.

3.) 09 Mar 2016 10:46:58
Didn't messi make his Barcelona debut when he was 17! Haha.

4.) 09 Mar 2016 13:57:33
So even if he was on par with the greatest player ever natural, he still has two years.

Congratulations to our cheery Croat chappy Dejan on a second successive clean sheet at the world cup, Croatia are the dark horses (not too dark mind you as they play in a lovely bright red and white as I'm sure you're all aware) for me and look forward to seeing how they do in the latter stages of this topsy turvy World Cup.

It really has been a spectacle hasn't it? . That's this speedsters take on the proceedings thus far anywho.

The charity match completely slipped my mind, was supposed to be playing the centre back role for one of the sides, though I suspect I would have been more of a pathetic Skrtel type than a commander in chief such as Dejan or Virgil. However I would still very much like to make a donation if that is still a possibility? £20 is my unit of preference but I can be easily swayed.

P. S. Ron Keague you cheeky little devil.

1.) 22 Jun 2018 06:46:03
How easily can you be swayed? How's 50? You do and I'll match you.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 11:41:40
50 smackeroos?! You're taking liberties my old mate couldn't even afford to buy a coffee in jitters for that price let alone be able to fund my addiction for velocity 9.

Oh yes oh yes burkeyboy your name speaks volumes about the kind of character you really are. £25. Final offer. Take it or leave it.

24 Sep 2017 18:14:41
Some say our defence is poor,
But to those I say learn to adore,
With demi-gods like Lovren, Klavan, Flanagan too,
There is no need to feel blue,
Sure we may concede two goals per game,
But with our attack there is often no shame,
Klopp is a fantastic man,
I'm sure he has a master plan,
To get the boys a title win,
Our Champions League hopes are not so thin.

1.) 24 Sep 2017 18:27:57
Decent poem mate. Not sure anyone has ever described Flanagan as a demi god though 😂.

{Ed025's Note - demi moore more like..

2.) 24 Sep 2017 18:40:56
I would never compare the useless six-toed bugger to a thing of such beauty and talent. Moore has nothing on our Jon.

{Ed025's Note - but i dont have visions of him half naked at a potters wheel zoom..

3.) 24 Sep 2017 18:57:12
he should have played swayze's character in fact as he is more of a ghost than him on the pitch.

4.) 24 Sep 2017 19:03:57
Dont worry ed I'm sure flanno will get a move to stoke soon and you won't have to imagine it, as I'm sure that's that's the go to pose for the new signings there, like touching the this is anfield sign or standing next to shankleys bust at liverpool.

{Ed025's Note - i remember dennis wise and vinny jones writing "so what" on that sign DR S....that did make me smile mate..

25 Aug 2017 17:29:03
No excuses now Gini boy, your little terrors out of the womb and ready for action, so let's hope your game steps up. Congratulations on the birth matey, don't let the wife make you do all the work like so often happens with children, I should know, besides you're the breadwinner in the household.

1.) 25 Aug 2017 17:33:05
He said thanks mate lol.

2.) 25 Aug 2017 17:50:13
Source?

3.) 25 Aug 2017 19:52:45
Show Zoom your payslips, he needs proof of income.

25 Aug 2017 14:49:50
No wonder the Coutinho laddie wants to Coutinhgo with all these fans referring to him with the frankly poor nickname Pipco, blimey eck.

1.) 25 Aug 2017 15:17:26
Pipcango.

2.) 25 Aug 2017 15:20:45
What?

3.) 25 Aug 2017 15:40:23
Says someone who was christened Zoom. Are you Frank Zappas son?

4.) 25 Aug 2017 15:41:32
Cringe.

5.) 25 Aug 2017 15:48:07
Just realised Pipco is Phil Coutinho, that's brilliant whoever came up with that!

{Ed002's Note - http://tinyurl.com/yazthwgl }

6.) 25 Aug 2017 15:49:41
Probably hates it in England because people call him Phil.

Imagine having a nice exotic name and then the bloody British make it sound like you're one of the Mitchell brothers from Eastenders.

7.) 25 Aug 2017 16:22:42
Wat about fred the Brazilian striker.

8.) 25 Aug 2017 16:30:18
Ed002 frantically googling Eastenders 😊.

{Ed002's Note - I know it is a EV probgramme but I have never seen it.}

9.) 25 Aug 2017 16:33:42
Whats all this 'Bobby' stuff?

10.) 25 Aug 2017 16:41:45
He should be honoured to share the name with the most iconic villain in all cinematic history, Phil Mitchell, even greater than I.

11 Aug 2017 18:28:54
So then lads I do predict that we will find a resolution to this conflict.

Barca, Coutinho, Klopo too, working together we'll get the job done.

Barcelona, can you purchase him, Barcelona, yes you can!

No, no, just kidding, a little riff on the classic theme tune to the kids show Bob the Builder, god speaking of which how longs it been since I was on a building site, depressing, one more post then night night forever. In all seriousness I am deeply depressed and will end it all soon but that's neither here nor there. Also in all seriousness, other than the theme tune, Barcelona certainly will purchase the Brazilian superstar.

1.) 11 Aug 2017 18:44:03
Funny thing is I could tell this was from Zoom once I got to Bob the Builder 😂.

2.) 11 Aug 2017 19:12:34
I think he perfectly summed up how we all feel.

3.) 11 Aug 2017 19:16:13
Ah yes, because I am the pop culture king, put me back into the ring and I'll give all your heads a spin. Spinning more than that top at the end of that Christopher Nolan classic Inception, sorry or was it Memento, seem to be forgetting everything, probably will turn out that it was me who killed her in the end. Sorry that wasa bit of a spoiler, a bit like my identity being that of the zolomon boy jay garrick.

Klavan's hardly been awful now has he? He was brought in as a cover and ended up playing more than we would have liked but for the most part he did his job.

just curious as to what you think his best attributes are ed? or what he offers a team?

For once I agree, Chirivella looks like a poor mans jay spearing just less john watson looking, One good half of football does make him mustard and he is nothing compared to his international compatriot the speedy spaniard sergio gomez who is 16.Anyway I would say that brannagan is ahead of young chirio in the pecking. If he gets in the starting eleven again this year I may just have to cry a river over carlisle.

{Ed001's Note - really? I like Chirivella.}

Fear's what ends up killing you my friend. It's better to be living in fantasy dreamworld like me with fairies, friendly goblins and woodland critters running around if you ask me (which I'm sure you didn't, in fact, having re-read your post, you certainly didn't but I'll have my say you mark my words) . I want to talk to you all about hope today. Hope is a wonderous thing, got me through my darker times it did (oh by Jove it did, if it weren't for that little bit of hope I could be hanging from a ceiling around about now) so I'll fight for the little guy (hope) in this battle of fear vs hope and stick my neck on the line (figuratively not literally I'm not a fool after all) and say a 3-1 win for the Redmen (Liverpool, not Manc scummers)
