Can we just clarify that not all Liverpool supporters are the same. Everyone is entitled to there own opinions and those opinions are always varied.
You have the fans who see the negative and single out players and management for critisism. This then feeds anxiety from general fans, fans at the game which then feeds to players and affects players performance.
You then have the less negative fans who will be frustrated by players performance and some management decisions but ultimately will stick by them. These fans can also see who, let's say, the weak links are but still they support and hope that with some decent coaching could improve there ability.
You should always support your club, your players and the staff until someone with authority at the club says that they can no longer do the job.
I would like to ask the more negative fans if they think the anxiety you put on the team to perform is helpful or not? I for one get so frustrated when watching our team and this anxiety affecting performance. I get even more frustrated at fans who constantly whinge like a 2 year old about players and management. You guys are the problem, not the team, not the staff. If you can do better, get those boots on or start gaining your qualifications.

Or Xabi, you have the fans who have an agenda against Klopp, FSG and/ or "insert player here" who are actually rooting for us to lose every time so as to justify why either/ all the parties mentioned above are crap. They are not interested in the hard work required to get us all to the promised land. The call themselves supporters BUT know NOTHING about what that actually means. Pessimists CANNOT be supporters as they believe in Murphy's Law so why bother if all we go wrong in the end? We support cos we are optimists and believe that hope will bring a better tmrw.

I'm not even sure these fans know what they are moaning about. They just moan cos a lot of people around them do it and then they start saying before games "I know we will lose this game". If you are so sure of that, why the H do you even bother watching? So when we do lose, you can say you were right? Will you being right about us losing help us win a trophy, the PL or get CL?

They go on social media posting disgusting and vile comments about players, the manager and FSG, all in the name of "I have the right to an opinion". If you are here or on social media to post vile and unfounded lies against manager, player or owners, that is NOT an opinion. That is abuse and verbal assault except you are as vile as your comments demonstrate. Constructive criticisms and logical arguments are always welcome BUT let us always remember what unites us: The success of LFC. That should be HOME for all our fans.

Shanks dealt with such fans in his time and he was right when he said, "If you can't support us when we lose, don't support us when we win". He was right then and till the end of time, he will STILL be right.

{Ed025's Note - good post that mate..

2.) 09 Apr 2017 18:29:09
The problem is you also have fans that want to deflect the issues from certain people and act as if anyone that questions things is a 'negative fan' and judge them as being 'not real fans'. They are just as bad as the super negative ones, I'd like to think that most fans are balanced and understand that there's a time and a place for support and criticism. A lot of those fans admit Klopp (for example) does make mistakes, but then when you point out those mistakes in a constructive manner, they call you negative and say you shouldn't question the manager as if you know better. It's insulting people's intelligence. If fans are accompanying their criticism with outrageous BS then yes, those fans are a problem and are the problem with modern football, but the same goes to the other side who think certain people can do no wrong as if a double standard exists. Be constructive in your support and your criticism and that should apply to anyone employed by the club, because they come and go, we stay forever.

{Ed025's Note - some good points there Kman..

3.) 09 Apr 2017 19:07:40
Two great posts and both absolutely bang on. Every fan gets frustrated and screams at at the TV but as you say kman if criticism is constructive then that's completely acceptable. Unfortunately as N red pointed out, with modern day social media as big as it is, the bashing does get to the players and it is so noticeable during games. Klopp has pointed this out many times. Some fans are destroying the club imo and it's becoming tiresome as we then get branded as the worst fans.

4.) 10 Apr 2017 01:27:38
Spot on, Xabi. If Klopp sees that and is pointing this out then for sure the players see this too and it weighs on them. Majority of moaners have NEVER played the game nor played sports in general, IMO. If they did at a decent level like I did playing football, they would understand the intricacies of the game, what a manager considers when they make decisions and from there, draw an opinion based on logic and rational reasoning. You don't have to agree with a manager's decision but you can understand it if you think it over critically. Good luck with the FIFA type fans we have here in modern day football.

Kman and I have had discussions in the past and have aired areas where we disagree on approach to how LFC can get better under Klopp BUT we both want what's best for LFC and not one time has Kman asked for Klopp's sack. Pointing out the mistakes is no problem as many know what they are. What I like many, do not like is using his mistakes to trash him as if he's not allowed to make any to begin with. All I want is fairness in criticism, with the hope that he will learn from his mistakes, some of which he has learnt.

Every manager is stubborn to some extent cos if they listened to everyone else's opinions and not believe in their core beliefs, they won't be as successful as they have become. It comes with the territory. Klopp is a good manager, he is not god and those who can't stand him being criticized constructively, then they need to grow up.

It doesn't matter who we sign. They will be bashed just like any other player when mistakes happen. I remember years ago watching an England side with Darren Anderton. He was an okay player but the bashing he was receiving during a game was astonishing. He then went on to score in that game and he was the best player ever.
We all want the best for Liverpool but what I don't want to see is the anxiety that is fed through from fans then transfer it's way to the players. This is so clearly evident when we play at the moment. By all means when mistakes happen, swear and curse as much as you like but remember they're just mistakes. I mean I put petrol in my diesel car yesterday. My misses called me all the names under the sun. She still loves me though. Perhaps we should forgive and love our players abit more too. 😊.

Ed 1 . In regards to yout earlier comments about academies being a problem. I completely agree. I feel the generation of the majority of players currently is extremely worrying. I've had to come away from coaching myself purely for the reasons you stated previously. Many years ago as a young player we had to work so hard to step up a level but nowadays it gets handed to you. It also stems before academies. Take my local club for instance. There used to be a 1st team, 2nd team and 3rd team. You would sign for the club and work your butt off to get to the 1st team and when you did you were so nervous about it. You would look upto all the experienced players around you and you would be worried that you might be dropped for the next game. Now they have a 1st team and an academy. and these academies are everywhere. They are full of youngsters who play with there mates and they're not worries about playing for the top team. Some of these players have such ability but the attitude is appalling. The generation these days are a nightmare to coach and they often make coaching un-enjoyable. It's a big worry. I've lost my track here now and I'm not sure of my point. Possibly the fact that this goes way deeper through to local football.

Xabifarmer15

{Ed001's Note - it is a problem, everything is given to people these days, they feel entitled. People should earn what they have, not be given it.}

1.) 23 Mar 2017 11:36:29
100% Xabi, young lads want to be footballers now for the money not for playing football. Don't get me wrong money has always been in football difference is If you signed for a club back n the day from cleaning boots doing jobs it made you think and realise what to work towards and you were more thankful and grateful if you got to the first team level.

2.) 23 Mar 2017 12:05:55
Xabi i thin your post is spot on in the most part i don't think the academies are the main problem although there are academies everywhere you look. I visited ajax when young and they took things to another level the way the sweep all under tens that they can off the streets to coach and also instilled discipline and learned them to achieve things on and off the field. Todays generation are spoiled i think in the main because parents always want their kids to get it better and easier than they did and they feel entitled (like arsenal fans today. lol) and don't know how to work hard for something. When i coached kids here they wouldn't believe it when i told them how hard myself and my friends worked to play, like a normal week when i was 15/ 16 would be school, part time job, train for my local youth team and the local irish league team, train for gaa team and three matches a week. I believe if kids had to go through half what we all did in the 80s they wouldn't be the demanding, over demanding brats that some of the kids coming through the academies seem to be today (well most seem to be) . sorry for the story just thought id share.

3.) 23 Mar 2017 12:25:44
Couldn't agree more, this is why I think England in particular have been so poor in recent years with youngsters thinking they have already made it. Look at Wilfried Zaha, rejection from England spurred him on and he's become twice the player he used to be.

Young players have lost sight of what it means to be a footballer and mostly just care about the lifestyle, problem is without a salary cap I don't know what else can be done about it what with social media giving players semi-celebrity status from their teens. It seems clubs are too precious about offending their precious young talents in case they move elsewhere (as is this generation) which in turn has damaged their motivation.

4.) 23 Mar 2017 13:23:48
As much as I agree to the general view, I don't think any parents would wish their kids to struggle and suffer to earn. They will want their kids to get into the best institution.

5.) 23 Mar 2017 14:30:48
Any parent with a backbone knows that their children will have to go through hardships to learn and earn in life, of course they would want that for them, it's the only way they'll survive, to be a wolf amongst wolves you need to be hungry less and less people are hungry nowadays. It's the same problem with English football at the minute, English players and managers aren't hungry enough to evolve and learn abroad etc because everything's nice and comfortable right where they are. Everyone wants the easy way out, that is the English mentality sadly.

6.) 23 Mar 2017 22:44:34
Nothing to do with mentality. They are paid handsome money. English managers and players have always been average to below average over the years. Lacks quality precisely.
If the Money ball shift to Italy or Spain you could see the players and media moving there.

7.) 24 Mar 2017 07:34:44
Don't talk tosh Harry. England have had some unbelievable players even just in my generation. Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, gerrard, lampard, scholes, beckham, Owen, fowler, Rooney (until about 5 years ago), Adams, seaman, gascgoigne, macca - I'm sure there are others.

In terms of what Ed has said, he is 100% right. (Most) kids nowadays don't have to work for anything, haven't heard the word no enough and as a result are self entitled. It isn't about making your kids go without but learning the value of earning something through hard work and patience. This scenario only becomes further exaggerated in football where there are 17/ 18 year old earning vast amounts of money.

8.) 24 Mar 2017 11:12:02
Look at Barcas academy.

It has nurtured the finest players in the world saving the club millions in transfer fees

I think it's the way the young players are integrated to the first team that is the problem as there is a huge difference between them

Hopefully we will take a big step in solving the problem when the academy and first team are all in the one facility.

9.) 24 Mar 2017 13:09:48
Dermot, that has not stopped Barcelona from spending near a billion pounds in the last 20 years in the TW, either.

Hope so

2.) 24 Jan 2017 19:34:13
Hope he does and finally cements his place in Klopps team. Would hate to see him go elsewhere. Great player.

3.) 24 Jan 2017 19:53:03
Hook line and sinker 😂😂

4.) 24 Jan 2017 19:59:32
i hope not, he is not the player he was when suarez was here and im sure we can get better in the summer maybe a player with his finishing but with the speed he has lost

5.) 24 Jan 2017 20:26:53
I think Bournemouth will benefit most from this.

6.) 24 Jan 2017 20:28:26
😂😂 Bournemouth striker Surridge 😂😂

Could Gomes come in for Sunday?

Xabifarmer15

1.) 12 Jan 2017 13:31:47
No game is to big considering he has just come back from injury after 15 months and only played 1 first team game since being back against plymouth

2.) 12 Jan 2017 13:52:54
Are you sure you wanna put a 19 year old inexperienced player just coming off 15 months of injury and rehab, into the biggest game of the season on the road?

3.) 12 Jan 2017 14:51:19
Hendo is the engine of our team.

Hes becoming the vital cog of the whole set up.

All teams will have this lull we are still in a great posistion and are capable of hitting a 10 game winning run.

Fatigue is the only worrying factor given our high tempo style and no winter break to recharge batteries,

In an ideal world Danny Inges would have come in there last night. with his energy closing down from the front would have kept Southampton penned in and stopped the counter attacks

Its just not in Sturridges make up to play like that but he is a better finisher.
He great to bring on in the last 20 to make an impact but that's about it.

4.) 12 Jan 2017 15:44:04
Spot on, Dermot. One game at a time and stop with the doom and gloom after each negative result. It`s doing my head in.

5.) 12 Jan 2017 15:55:38
Depends how mentally mature and strong the guy is. He plays with maturity. I'm sure Klopp wouldn't have him on the bench last night if he wasn't fit enough. I think he could complement Lovren more than Klaven and Lovren can move back to the left where he is more comfortable. Age is just a number.

6.) 13 Jan 2017 02:14:23
There are diff. reasons why he was on the bench. That happens all them time with returnees from injury in order to make him feel as a part of the group. This happens all he time and it doesn`t mean he would play or come on. Lucas would have slid in if a CB went down as he`s more match fit than Gomez.

The boy has only had one game back and yet you want to put pressure on him from the get go cos he played a decent game vs a Plymouth side that parked the bus? He may be the next Vincent Kompany BUT allow the boy to grow on his own and at his pace before anointing him as the messiah.

7.) 13 Jan 2017 07:03:54
I hope he takes after kompany in the talent department not the continuous injury department HR.

Can is far better another position up the pitch. This allows him to step in with the ball and carry it which is what he is excellent at. This attracts opposition players and opens up space for others.

I personally think the opposite here. If anything he is too laid back on the ball which causes him to rush passes and make mistakes. Needs to sharpen up and move the ball quicker with less touches.

I'll say it again. Far too many rash defenders in the back line. Klaven actually looks pretty composed back there. Maybe a composed keeper and a fit composed gomez could be the answer. Sakho, although a beast has mistakes in him. He panics the team. We need rid of such players.
