Hey Ed’s, love site I’m new too this but been reading posts for few years now, just want say keep up good work we all appreciate work and info that you process us. And one last thing is there any interest in Leon Goretzka from Shalke as I know his contract running down and think be seriously good addition especially if and be most likely Can leaves on free in summer cheers Ed’s.

Wombat1

{Ed002's Note - Thanks. Schalke have offered Leon Goretzka a very good new contract and he is mulling that over whilst he is aware of offers from Barcelona and Juventus that will be formalised in January. Additionally his representatives have spoken with three English sides (not Liverpool) and are awared of renewed interest from Bayern Munich, although that is complicated by regulation. Arsenal having taken a new employee on board are certainly interested and I would not rule out Manchester United but he is perhaps third pick for them. For reasons that are beyond me, many Liverpool fans are convinced that he has already agreed to join the club. Liverpool's interest stems from when they were struggling to agree a deal for Keita and he was seen as a potential option. Bayern Munich are making it known that they would offer a guarantee for the summer but they cannot speak to him in January - although they will continue to make their position clear to his agent. The player has said he would like to move to Barcelona.}

Fantastic result reds Truely brilliant! All players stood up there and big shout out too TAA had few tricky moments last 2 games and he played outstanding as did all the reds well done but they all need be aware only half time with this but over moon with result! On sour note though appalling and embarrassing seeing Man City bus being targeted our fans, All for a great hostile atmosphere but throwing stuff and being yobs is too far and needless, well done reds though superb YNWA.

Sorry wombat. I pressed the wrong button. I agree with you I thought it was just absolutely wrong.

2.) 04 Apr 2018 23:00:18
Yeah the stuff at the coach was unnecessary and unacceptable.

3.) 04 Apr 2018 23:17:43
I always knew some knob-heads would cross that line and unfortunately, they did. Disgraceful behavior and I thought Pep was very gracious regarding the incident after Klopp apologized to him, the players and Man City.

{Ed0333's Note - I agree Pep was gracious. Classy.

I am so so so happy I’ve just seen news now I honestly have wanted this beast for last 2 Years even at Celtic I thought he looked a prospect. We needed this reds yes fee is huge it is over top but market is like this and is he better than what we have it’s a no brainier don’t worry prices we clearly had money too do it and we haven’t perisnaly spent on him so don’t worry price let’s just get behind this but really am happy we have got VVD and Keita too come summer do believe our team is looking stronger than has been long long time within this.

Thought last nights game summed up liverpool to a tee in all honesty, cracking frontline that has opposition scared so much for the counter as was evident I felt in Arsenal’s game they feared our attack and speed with it. On the other hand I’m not sure exact time but heard 4 odd mins to score 3 goals? I’m sorry but you would struggle to do that on FIFA game! I’m not going to detail players performances as other posters do far greater job than I ever could and ED 01. Just wanna say though as a lot other posts have discussed how much longer we going to have too endure Mignolet? I’m not saying he’s only weak link on that ck line because as we all know there is more that’s needs addressing but my word call me harsh if wish but I honestly don’t think in my time supporting reds (24) I’ve ever seen a NUMBER 1 off this length this poor. I just personally believe confidence off teams is always going to be there we slip up and there is mistake within us, now granted he also has made some good saves and important ones near end last year I just really believe carra hit nail head tonight in regards liverpool, superb too watch but come end season won’t be there when prizes given out and it’s really sad that because squad isn’t that bad it’s just for me defence and a holding mid would be much welcomed addition . Sorry long posts everyone enjoy weekend and Christmas and let’s hope some teams round just drop some points! YNWA.

I think we are missing the obvious, for one migs is no better or worse than karius, worst mistake was gomez but nobody is calling for his head (and nobody should be) .

The reoccurring issues are the midfield, we constantly lose control of a game from a winning position, there is no game intelligence, bombing forward like kids in a playground .

Somebody needs to recognise when a period of play is against us and play ugly for a bit.

2.) 23 Dec 2017 11:36:49
Wombat, I agree with your post globally. Our team is very good offensively and even defensively if we play and defend as a team the way Klopp wants us to play and we have seen that of late. The problem is that there are still holes that need to be filled and sorry, you cannot do that in one window or two as transfers are not that simple and even City w/ all their money, did not get all the players they wanted nor could not sell those they did not want. We just need to keep improving in both phases and hope we get good players in where we are weak.

Having said all that, the individual errors that occurred yesterday are there for all to see cos as a group, our defenders played well. Gomez made a mistake and tho it was poor, that is his second mistake since the WH game so clearly he is learning and aside from the mistake and the way he just let Ozil walk past him for the 3rd, he had a great game. Still at 2-1, we are in a good position and the senior players can step in and take control. Until the clown reared his ugly head and literally punched the ball into the net and equalized for Arsenal. The defence like any other, lost it's head.

Ed01 is TOO right. No matter how good your defenders are, if they know the GK is a mistake waiting to happen always play with jitters and that is what happened w/ the 3rd goal. It is NO coincidence as to why Karius has nothing much to do when he plays. It is cos the defenders know what he will do, is decisive and authoritative off his line, commands his area better so all they defenders have to do is focus on their jobs and not worry about the GK putting the fear of God into them. KARIUS IN!

Fun question for ED 01 and Reds who have spare time reply and wish too. Who in your opinion is Liverpool’s greatest Goalkeeper, Defender (any position), Midfielder ( any position) and forward and why? I’d persinally go with GK - Ray Clemence, DEF - Alan Hansen, Mid- Gerrard ans Forward King Kenny. YNWA.

Wombat1

{Ed001's Note - the only change I would make is Souness was better than Gerrard as he had much more defensive responsibility and he won games singlehandedly. He put the fear of Fowler into opponents when he walked out on to the pitch, especially Liam Brady when they were in Italy....}

1.) 21 Dec 2017 07:16:58
From 96 onwards and ignoring sentimentality, Reina-Hyypia-Gerrard-Suarez.

2.) 21 Dec 2017 07:36:32
Oh COMON ed. Where’s Stevie Nicol!? Actually never seen him play I just crack up seeing his input on espnfc. He reminds me of Charles Barkley. You can tell he really understands the game, he just has a hard time of showing it 😂 Can tell he’s liverpool through and through though.

{Ed001's Note - he was a fantastic player and could neck a pint down like no one's business but Hansen is the best centre back I have ever seen play the game, even better than Baresi. Hansen was genuinely world class at his peak. Like Mcgrath he had knee problems but still was outstanding.}

3.) 21 Dec 2017 08:05:14
In my lifetime as a fan GK: Reina DF: Carragher MF: Gerrard ST: Suarez. I’m sure there were better players before but I’ve never seen them play (only old videos)

4.) 21 Dec 2017 08:25:05
Ray Clemence
Alan Hansen
Ian Callaghan
The King.

5.) 21 Dec 2017 09:33:05
. and peoples worst gk, defender, midfielder and striker?

{Ed025's Note - migs, lovren, balotelli..

6.) 21 Dec 2017 09:39:21
Gk - david james
Df - henchoz
Mid - berger
Cf - owen.

7.) 21 Dec 2017 09:49:00
Surprized you missed hendo in midfield there ed025 haha.

{Ed025's Note - yeah i even left him out of my worst players sandon...ill put him on the bench mate.. :)

8.) 21 Dec 2017 10:30:33
Clemence
Hansen
Souness
Dalglish

It could be those 4 because I grew up watching them, or it could be those 4 due to us being left behind since.

9.) 21 Dec 2017 11:15:21
Have to agree with AggerDo there, what a spine of a team to build around. Grew up with King Kenny as my idol.

10.) 21 Dec 2017 12:44:57
Aye same 4 for me as AggerDo. Although I only really remember Clemence in his last season. The next best would be Grobs Nicol Alonso and Rush. These wee favourite player posts are tough some times when you can't fit in Barnes Fowler and Gerrard.

11.) 21 Dec 2017 13:34:29
Worst in each category :

GK Charles Itandje
Def Paul Konchesky
Mid Oyvind Leonhardsen
Fwd Mario Balotelli.

12.) 21 Dec 2017 17:56:49
Brucey, Hansen, Gerrard, kenny.

13.) 21 Dec 2017 20:08:21
I've only been watching Liverpool since 2005.

So I'll go with Reina, Agger, Alonso, Torres.

Reina picks himself in the last 12 years. Dudek was quality to be fair, but Mignolet, Jones, Cavalieri, Itandje, Doni, Bogdan? I'll leave it at that.

Agger I've picked because i think when fit he was the best defender in Europe. Quick, Strong, good on the ball, free kick specialist, good in air, leader etc. Carra was great but lacked composure at times. Hyypia was excellent but lacked pace. Agger had everything and for 25 games a season, he was the best defender we've had in my lifetime. Which is impressive because i think Carra and Hyypia were world class in their prime. Plus Agger turned down Barcelona at their peak and got YNWA tattooed on his knuckles to rub it in their face 😂

Alonso is the greatest midfielder of the last 20 years in my opinion. I know people will scream about Zidane, Gerrard and Iniesta. But Alonso was the best for me. He transformed the deep midfield role. Before Alonso you were either a destroyer or a playmaker. He was the best in the world at both. Lynchpin of he best Liverpool team in recent years, the best Madrid team in recent years, the best Bayern team in recent years, and the Spain team which swept all comers aside.

Lastly I've gone for Torres because i would argue that in his prime at Liverpool he was the best striker in world football. Suarez wasn't quite for me. Maybe there was less competition in Torres' era, but my opinion remains that he would've walked into any team in the world at his peak. Torres scored goals to win major international tournaments. Suarez probably wouldn't have taken the place of Ibrahimović (PSG) or Lewandowski (Bayern), and though he did take his game to the next level after he left us, Torres leaked with us.

Plus Suarez marred everything good about his time at Liverpool with controversy. People will point to Suarez scoring more, but Torres was often rested against smaller clubs like Norwich so he was at 100% to stuff Barcelona, Real Madrid or Chelsea in the Champions League semi finals! Additionally, Torres played in a team built to defend first, score second. Suarez played in a team built to outscore the opposition. If Torres in his prime had played in that 13/ 14 season team, he'd have scored 40.

14.) 21 Dec 2017 20:18:01
Clemence
Hansen
Souness
Dalglish.

15.) 21 Dec 2017 22:26:07
Reina
Hansen
Souness
Rush.

10 Dec 2017 17:34:52
Well that was very annoying to say the least, think Everton will be very happy with that point there as they Truely didn’t turn up today at all in my eyes, Lovren has too try use experience seeing what was coming DCL has gone down little to easy few times I’ve seen him, Klopp has and will need face questions with his selections today and for me very much on decision take Salah off when game wasn’t won yet .

Wombat1

1.) 10 Dec 2017 17:55:00
Don't think we can lay the blame with lovren today after all its a contact sport they are playing. There was absolutely no push on Calvert Lewin and he should be done for diving because call a spade a spade that's what it was and we were completely screwed by a very poor refereeing decision. The one that cost us today is mane unfortunately through his own search for glory. Its unforgivable what he done and he should sit out a game or 2 to think about letting his teammates down.

2.) 10 Dec 2017 18:17:43
There is absolutely no excuse to put his hands on his back in that position. The striker is always going to make the most of any contact. Did he buy the penalty, of course, but don’t give him the chance.

You give the referee a decision to make then don’t be surprised when they occasionally make a poor one.

3.) 10 Dec 2017 18:23:27
So it was a dive then wassa. Then he should now be reprimanded for conning the official.

4.) 10 Dec 2017 18:25:17
Disagree wassa, hardly a push, put his hands up to stop himself from body checking Lewin and he dives, poor refing in my book, but we move on.

5.) 10 Dec 2017 18:52:30
If anything Calvert Lewin stepped into lovren but somehow Craig what's his face sees it as a penalty. No way was it a pen. The refereeing in the premier league is nothing short of abysmal bar 2 or 3 decent refs. The referee and mane cost liverpool today and nothing to do with personnel or tactics. Liverpool were coasting the game unthreatned until the poor decision and should have already been out of sight anyway if it was not for mane's selfish play #theteamcomesfirst#.

7.) 10 Dec 2017 19:51:04
yes Redmick, Calvert Lewin stepped into Lovren, then went down too easy for me,
But we are talking about an International defender, who should have read and headed away the cross from Rooney, great cross it was, ok, Lovren misses the cross, then falls into the trap, giving the Ref the choice to make, pen or no pen,
we should have been 3 goals up at that stage,
ask Klopp why he made six changes for a massive derby game .

8.) 10 Dec 2017 20:29:33
Happy, if you think we should have won by 3 goals and we did not, Klopp is not your prob. Mane is, as he had a poor game and don't get me started on the pathetic excuse of a pen that the ref gave. Lewin threw himself at Lovs, and flopped to the ground and the ref (who seemed keen on giving Everton something all game) bought it.

9.) 10 Dec 2017 21:22:43
Mane had a poor game no doubt about it. Mane normally makes the right decision but not to pass for a certain goal was as bad as Lovren giving away the cheap penalty. When Salah went off we ran out of ideas. The subs contributed nothing at all.

Salah is our number one player, without him we would be about 7th IMO.

Pep won’t change the way he plays, even last season when city wasn’t flying as many assumed they would he was told his way woudint work in premier league and he stated he won’t change way he plays football. There are many pros and cons too it would.

Whether he plays like Torres or looks like him all we care about is that he’s goven chance amount off goals the lad scored for u23s was really impressive I understand not premier league but he’s not doing badly at this Moment for Hull in championship either it seems, only problem is he won’t start at Liverpool for good while and seemingly has Woodburn, Ojo and maybe Kent from his form in pre season.
