Hi Ed’s I know you mentioned the other day that Subotic could be possible in your opinion. Do you think the owners hands will bow be forced and we may actually see some incoming this window maybe even more than just a stop gap and actually go and get one of JK’s top targets or is it just not feasible at all.

Weston90

{Ed002's Note - Firstly, it is not the decision of the "owners". However, the club should have addressed the problem already but the issue would be who to drop from the squad for the second half of the season. They may have been waiting to see how van Dijk and Gomez are progressing. If it is certain one will not fully recover in the coming months they need to remove them from the squad and probably look to a loan as a longer term solution won't be available or affordable. This is why I mentioned Subotic. To me he seems the ideal solution for a short-term contract.}

1.) 29 Jan 2021 12:51:13
For me, in the last 24 hours, we've gone from needing one centre back to two! Don't get me wrong I'm not living in a dream world, we won't sign two, we'll be lucky to get one. A loan or a short term option seems the most likely and realistic. Van Dijk for me would be removed from the squad, as well as he is doing, I can't see him being match fit before the end of the season, Gomez more likely could be towards the end of the season. We will see what happens, we have been surprised on more than one occasion. Who saw Jota signing in the summer!

2.) 29 Jan 2021 12:56:18
Guys let's believe in klopp. he knows what can be done better than us who won't know most things. besides eds have been constantly reminding us abt our financial state. let's believe in our squad😄😄😄.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 12:48:01
Ed002, do you know the nature of Subotic's injury? I also think he's a great addition but if he is currently injured and likely to be out for a couple of months (for example) I guess the club wouldn't be keen.

{Ed002's Note - He is available to play - he had a muscle pull in his groin around Christmas. He will lack match fitness.}

4.) 29 Jan 2021 12:54:19
Does Subotic not have injury issues also?

5.) 29 Jan 2021 13:37:52
Thanks Ed and I completely agree Jord I mentioned on here at the start of the season that I thought we needed 2 Gomez and Joel can’t be relied upon and neither are good enough to really push VVD and keep him on his toes now that seem apparent more than ever.

6.) 29 Jan 2021 13:46:45
I read another news mentioning that we're also linked with USA Captain - Aaron Long for 6 months loan deal.

7.) 29 Jan 2021 18:04:09
Muscle injury in Christmas? Lacking match fitness? Dang, I think we're better off playing Rhys.

8.) 29 Jan 2021 18:58:08
Isn’t Subotic supposed to be a bit of a nob?

9.) 29 Jan 2021 18:00:24
I know it's been mentioned but was about milatao Ed's? Looks decent and seems to be available on loan.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath. The discussions about him have centred around another player and a summer move seems far more likely - it is nothing to do with Liverpool.}

27 Jan 2021 16:52:23
Hi Ed’s probably too early to call but do you know if Liverpool would hold any interest in mason mount if he were to fall out of favour at Chelsea.

Weston90

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool have shown no interest in Mason Mount.}

1.) 27 Jan 2021 22:24:24
what if Fernandes gets bored at Old Trafford. could use some of the Coutinho money?

{Ed047's Note - what are you guys smoking

2.) 27 Jan 2021 22:35:04
Smoking pure hard sarcasm 47 :)

{Ed047's Note - 👍🏼🤣🤣

3.) 28 Jan 2021 00:07:16
If we signed Mason Mount I’d wonder what Klopp was smoking! Another overrated English player that the media have built up to be more than he is.

4.) 28 Jan 2021 08:27:45
Mount isn't a good player imo, he is English, that's where the media hype gets him on a level he really isnt.

{Ed001's Note - really? I disagree completely, he is a very good player who gets stick because he is English and so not a fancy name.}

5.) 28 Jan 2021 08:59:53
Mount went from being loved by the media when at Vitesse and Derby to get gradually disliked as his career has been going on at Chelsea. Basically I think he has gone from being a tad overhyped to now a bit underappreciated. I think him not being Jack Grealish is a huge part of it.

6.) 28 Jan 2021 10:06:51
My mate who’s a Chelsea fan thinks Mount is their brightest homegrown prospect.

Outstanding player? No, but a very good one who pops up with goals, think people forget he’s still so young with just 18 months of prem experience.

7.) 28 Jan 2021 11:05:21
He should change his name to Mountinho ed001.
I agree though he looks like a brilliant young talent, the hype seems to be justified here.

{Ed001's Note - agreed mate, I really like him, he is exactly the kind of midfielder Liverpool could do with. Hard-working, good technique but most of all he gets in good positions to score.}

8.) 28 Jan 2021 11:56:58
Mount scores and creates more than any of our current midfield and has the numbers that Jones can only dream about. I have not included Thiago in this assertion as he’s not played on the Prem enough to judge.

9.) 28 Jan 2021 12:03:01
Ed, From seeing him, don't see him at the top level, driving a team to a championship, there is a very big number of good, mid level player, who get all sorts of hype to just try and put them on a level their not, tbh, the number of real top draw players is quite short, world class is thrown up alot, i'd take Phillips from Leeds over him, then there are some players who people love and others don't get, depends on what you want from a player in a certain position/ what you expect, to what they actually do, i couldn't take to Kuyt playing on the right, as i'd expect a winger to be pacy, beat a man and have flair, yet when he was in the middle, loved the guy, same with Wijnaldum, liked at Newcastle, frustrates me now because i expect something more, yet the job he does has workes, that's why i prefer Jones over him now, we all love and see players differently, its fascinating to see others views.

{Ed001's Note - whereas I wouldn't take Phillips over him at all. He is an excellent long-range passer and works hard, but lacks mobility and skill. Mount is an almost perfect player for the Henderson-type role, driving a midfield forward but also getting back to cover gaps, while adding a few goals. Mount's problem is that he has been massively overused by Lampard, he was running him into the ground and his displays often reflected that.}

10.) 28 Jan 2021 12:37:09
Eds, him in the Henderson role and deeper would suit us, i often saw him playing too wide at Chelsea and didn't think it suited him, maybe that different position down the middle deeper would help change my opinion of him, , id have him over Gini certainly, just think price from a rival would be too much, better players out there, i like Phillips range of passing, that's what does appeal to me, head forward i like, think i'm in the Keegan class of attack attack attack, ha.

{Ed001's Note - he did get wasted a bit as a winger last season, but that was because they were short of them, hence bringing in a few in the summer. Phillips is ok, but I just don't think his range of passing is enough to make up for his deficiencies. He is a bit like a cut-price Thiago.}

11.) 28 Jan 2021 12:54:41
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

25 Jan 2021 08:54:37
Are these Sokratis rumours true!

Weston90

{Ed025's Note - i would very much doubt it mate..

1.) 25 Jan 2021 09:52:55
Cheers for the quick response mate.

{Ed025's Note - no problem weston mate..

2.) 25 Jan 2021 16:16:09
I’d rather we signed Socrates corpse than Sokratis the failed Arsenal defender.

3.) 25 Jan 2021 16:56:22
Probably a move aimed at smoking out the real target, Steven Caulker.

4.) 25 Jan 2021 17:20:27
Surely we don’t need a centre forward, Spaceman?

22 Dec 2020 13:38:35
Is there any truth in the origi for Kabak swap deal rumours?

Weston90

{Ed002's Note - Ozan Kabak (CB) has been of past interest to both Manchester sides, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich but the asking price has always been see as high, although it seemed to be something between €35M and €40M it could have reduced due to the pandemic and Schalke having financial issues. The interest of the Manchester sides when he left Galatasaray for Stuttgart and he hit an age where he could never qualify as Home Grown in England - and that is something Liverpool should concern themselves with as well. I am not so sure he is the starter Liverpool have been looking for, but he will be cheaper than both Llorente and Diego Carlos and could still push Joe Gomez in to the background. He is well thought of by Borussia Dortmund who wanted Tanguy Kouassi as a replacement for Toprak and Belardi but he moved to Bayern Munich resulting in their making an approach and being told he is not for sale - but they have declared an interest. Schalke say they have also been approached by Juventus and Leicester. A far better option for Liverpool than Mandi but Schalke, who were reluctant to sell, will let him leave after his five game ban and the huge backlash there has been over him spitting at an opponent from Werder Bremen at the time of the pandemic. A foul human being. }

1.) 22 Dec 2020 14:33:09
I wouldn't want that sort of character at the club no matter how good he is. Disgusting behaviour.

2.) 22 Dec 2020 15:04:06
Swerve swerve swerve!

3.) 22 Dec 2020 16:29:48
Thuram who plays in Germany done the same thing the other day, right in guys face, pretty sure we have been linked with him.

4.) 22 Dec 2020 18:10:15
Swipe Left!

5.) 22 Dec 2020 19:30:07
Seriously where does he fit in ?

11 Nov 2020 15:34:28
Hearing Joe’s out for 3 months fellas.

Weston90

1.) 11 Nov 2020 15:57:22
I HATE international duty/ teams/ friendlies. The football is terrible too. Why can't it all just go away?

2.) 11 Nov 2020 16:57:52
Waiting for the press conference for confirmation. No details official yet, please don't speculate.

{Ed025's Note - good idea JM..

3.) 11 Nov 2020 17:11:51
Just heard via someone close, its the same knee, and really serious. I hope not,

4.) 11 Nov 2020 17:46:34
A lot longer than 3 months unfortunately Weston.

5.) 11 Nov 2020 18:35:25
I hope it wasn't from a pickford challenge that's done him.

6.) 11 Nov 2020 19:31:23
All the rumours are suggesting it’s a bad injury. Having a terrible run of luck. Hoping Neco Williams and rhys Williams can step up with Phillips to keep the team moving forward. Squads there to be used could be a good chance to give the youngsters some experience. Trents been off the boil so far this season so be good for genuine competition.

7.) 11 Nov 2020 19:58:57
Would be amazing to Finnish above the toffees this year with all our injuries.

8.) 11 Nov 2020 20:15:18
That's no ambition to finish above Everton. We have a world class squad.

9.) 11 Nov 2020 20:26:39
12 months minimum hearing. Patella tendon.

10.) 11 Nov 2020 20:26:58
That’s irony mighty reds that you failed to grasp.

11.) 12 Nov 2020 03:43:08
This is worse than anything city had to deal with last season and ‘neutrals’ moaned and cried for them citing that injuries stopped them from genuinely Challenging (even though we had just as many injuries) . I wonder what the narrative would be if we struggled massively this year due to this unnatural amount of injuries we’ve got in the space of 2 months or so. To be fair, just like city last season, we made a huge error in not bringing in a CB in the summer when it should’ve been one of our top priorities and now we are paying the price. No ones fault but ours but I bet people will forget the injury narrative when analysing why we may struggle. This a huge chance for one of the youngsters to step up and make that their spot, I hope one of them takes it.

12.) 12 Nov 2020 18:55:53
Hindsight is always 20/ 20. And all the geniuses on here, talking about "we should have bought a CB" while ejaculating wildly about buying Thiago and Jota, in a time of virtually no investment funds being available, proves it.

At the time it looked like a well studied risk with pros and cons. Nobody foresaw the 2 starting CB's both getting serious injuries, not to mention the 4th choice (Fabinho) too. Nobody foresaw VVD playing non-stop for over 2 years without injury, either. It's all about assessing risks and taking decisions. So let's dispense with all the head shaking.

13.) 13 Nov 2020 06:03:48
ArAy, that's nonsense. I, along with many others said we should have replaced Lovren long before the window shut.
We pointed out that Matip and Gomez have patchy injury records and that we have relied on VVD too much. Guess what, we were spot on and it was neither hindsight nor a lucky guess.
Not replacing Lovren was lunacy going into such an intense season, that should have been prioritised over Jota or Thiago.

14.) 13 Nov 2020 10:57:33
I would have also made the case before the season started that Diogo was not as needed as a new center back. But I also felt good about our chances with Virgil, Joe, Joel and Fab when necessary. It is definitely unfortunate, and quite likely caused by this disrupted and congested schedule (at least with Joe; VVD's was a horror tackle that should have been punished) . In the end, I'm exceedingly glad we made the move for Diogo. I imagine that Klopp looked at the youth players coming in behind (not Nat as he was on the way out, but Rhys, Billy, Sepp) and said we're well stocked, but he couldn't have expected both his starters would be out well before Christmas and that the other two would be carrying niggling/ reoccurring injuries as well. Just like he wouldn't have expected no fans in the stands in January of last year. Now is the time to adapt, the other players have to rise to the occasion and we as fans have to hope for the best knowing that we still have personnel worthy of filling those gaps in the squad.

15.) 14 Nov 2020 13:18:51
So we should get rid klopp?because he failed to add a cb in the summer? We always move very quickly when the right player is available at the right time. This is no FM game you just get whoever you want.

Of course not.

05 Jan 2021 20:52:28
Ed’s do you expect Liverpool may hold off signing anyone purely until they see how corona continues to effect the game and their finances?

Weston90

{Ed002's Note - Money is an issue regardless.}

04 Oct 2020 20:33:05
This is why Klopp wanted a CB.

Weston90

29 Sep 2020 09:04:24
Morning Ed’s and reds can you guys realistically see anymore incomings before the window closes or do you think we will see only departures?

Weston90

1.) 29 Sep 2020 10:33:59
Weston90 I can't see much coming in mate unless somebody goes out the club are not trying to sell. We do seem to have a lot of players who are not close to first team football that need to be moved on.

2.) 29 Sep 2020 10:47:22
Couldn’t agree more Grino in a perfect world I would have loved a cb but the way we played last night I think we will be fine without.

I think there will be a bit of a clearance in the coming days to be honest.

3.) 29 Sep 2020 10:54:40
I think we will be focusing more on outgoings rather than incomings, at this time cos we need to balance the books. Ed02 already alluded to this recently.

4.) 29 Sep 2020 12:01:34
I don't think we need any. Particularly if we are short on cash.

Better to put full focus into Sales and clawing some of those funds back.

Tsimikas, Thiago and Jota looks a great window for us.

25 Sep 2020 10:31:52
Hi Ed’s I know money is an issue and I can’t realistically see many more if any incomings but did Liverpool ever show interest in Upamecano?

So why would a manager take action like this when it makes no financial sense depleat any funds you have just to get rid of a player. I would understand if he was causing problems or if he was a terrible player just seems like a crazy move. Thanks for the reply though ed.

Thanks for the reply Ed’s and by up to their usual tricks I mean at risk of being complained about yet again by a club for tapping up their assets I have no doubt that you are right and all clubs do this but seemingly nowhere near as much as Liverpool or at least they have the tact to be sneaky about it.

Clubs will start to jack up prices when we are interested in their players if we carry on.

Weston90

{Ed002's Note - There has been a verbal comp[laint from Bayern Munich. There has been a little something else but we aren't going to go there.}
