hi eds, haven't posted for a few years but been reading the site very often. all my questions get answered so no need haha. if you got time just a quick one regarding the statement the club issued in regard to coutinho. It has been said that the owners set a price for him and were talking to barcelona regarding a move. what has changed for them to issue the statement? thanks as always you guys are the best.
{Ed002's Note - The owners have not spoken with Barcelona but representatives of Liverpool gave a price to PSG and then to Barcelona. No the decision has been taken to hang on to him. I suspect Klopp made his opinion known but I can't be sure.}

Key part of the statement. The this summer. It was too late for them to get a replacement. Therefore no sale at any price. Let's hope they prepare for the next time one or that Barcelona move on haha.

Well at least we keep him for this season. Next summer hopefully we get Keita in as the replacement if Barcelona sustain their interest in Coutinho and he still wants to go there.

It is a great decision not to sell and a price should not have been given in the first place. I understand the position of coutinho wanting out but I really feel he can be brought back onside. I hope this stays the case.
We are 1 or 2 players away from doing something really special. If we could add a star Cb and Cm then we could be a real force. If the 2 who have been mentioned come I will be ecstatic for the new season.
Lessons will need to be learnt from this transfer season for sure though and sadly that is not the first time we ve said this. Let's hope it's the last.
All we can do now is continue to hope coutinho stays and hope we add a few worldies. Marquee players. You know the ones Ed. With that transfer warchest that FSG gave klopp. It's just so darn hard to buy players we jewells and gold nice knacks these days. I wish they gave him a bank account instead. I feel this warchest idea of FSG is what is slowing everything down.

Hi eds, what's the latest on Xherdan Shaqiri? Heard he will be making a decision on his future soon and there was talk Bayern have put a improved contract on the table? Any truth to this? Thanks
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new nor a proposed new contract. We know which clubs are interested and that includes Liverpool. We will see what happens.}

The Fekir transfer is a good example of why the eds don't come out and say yep the deal is done, imagine they did a few days ago like everyone else. the abuse they would get. Good to see your back ed001, I was wondering if you could give me your take on the transfer business so far and who you would like to see Liverpool bring in? Ed002 gave a detailed and honest response which I thought was a great read, I'm curious what your thoughts are as well? Thanks and once again great site with reliable and honest feedback.

I am glad Suarez is gone, much as he is a truly great player, he spent far too much time sat on the sidelines banned and was far too much trouble to deserve his obscene wages.
I would like to keep Borini myself, but I can't see him getting the chance centrally, which is where he should be being played, his movement off the ball is far too good in the box to play him where he can't get in there enough.
I have no problem with the releases of Hodzic and Sokolik, neither were good enough to have a future with us.
Aspas on loan to Sevilla will be good for him, he deserves the chance to play regularly, his attitude was exemplary. Unfortunately he just wasn't fitting in to the league, despite his nice touch and control, it was useless when he was just knocked off the ball so easily. Hopefully he will have a brilliant season personally, the lad deserves it.
I like the signing of Lambert, we needed some experience up front to guide youngsters through, and he is a great example, having come all the way up from the lower leagues through his own efforts. Good player too, more of a deep lying forward, a creator rather than a poacher, but he does get goals too. Only worry for me, as he should still have a good few years left in the tank otherwise, is his back problem. Hopefully he won't be playing every game anyway, so he should be able to get the rest it needs.
Lallana I really like, he isn't lightning fast, but he has got acceleration to get himself space to do something. Plus the skill to get past someone with the ball. He glides past people, rather than sprints past them, with the ball glued to his foot. I like that in a player, as it means they don't lose it so readily as a player who relies on pace, who requires a lot of space to get the best out of his ability. Lallana can just create his own space in a tight situation. Also he works so hard. He runs himself into the ground every match.
I am not sure about Can and Markovic. I have never even seen Can play, that I know of.}

The metro reporting we are interested in bringing in benzema for around £40 they think he might be available if falcoe moves to Madrid . Ed's IF that was to happen can you really see benzema being a target for us? Sturidge / Benzema leading the attack in a champions league final. ahh. One can only dream!
