Hi eds,
Have the Michu rumours got any legs or is it just lazy journalism as usual because he plays for Swansea? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any real interest from Liverpool, and would think someone would need to leave to raise the sort of cash wansea would want for him.}

Evening eds and reds.
Quick question, with Clyne and ings gone, and possibly looking to move on milner, sturridge and lallana, will we still be OK for the homegrown quota or would we need to look at bringing in another couple of English players?
Thanks
Tom.

Tom.

{Ed0333's Note - I think you’ll find we’ll need to replenish our home grown quota and we’ll be buying in order to remedy that.

Was wondering this as well - who do you reckon we'd go for Ed? I'd love us to try for Wan-Bissaka but it seems likely that he'd cost an absolute fortune and very unlikely that Palace would want to sell.

{Ed0333's Note - Ed’s 001 is of the impression that wan-bissaka is content at palace and won’t be moving any time soon. I have a converse opinion I think if you gave him an offer he can’t refuse he’d be more than tempted. For sure he’d be one of the English players I’d go for because as you correctly state he is a real player and would be a positive addition to any squad also I’d go for Morgan Gibbs White from wolves because I think in the right circumstances he could be really special.
Oh I’m sorry mate I read you’re question incorrectly I thought you said who would I go for not who we will go for...oops. I have no idea which English player we’ll go in for mate maybe that defender at notts forest whose name escapes me.

Off the top of my head, these are some of the home grown senior players we could look at:
1. Goalkeeper to replace Mignolet: Jack Butland or Mccarthy
2. Left back: Lloyd Kelly
3. Right back: Wan Bissakha
4. Centre back to replace Lovren / Matip: Not sure, but may be Tarkowski given Klopp's previous interest?
5. Midfield: Retain Lallana, Hendo and Ox - don't think anyone new will come in
6. Forward: Maybe we retain sturridge on a new deal with lower wages; can't think of a home grown forward we can bring in who can deputise CF and LF.

3.) 18 Jan 2019 08:28:31
Bissanka won't happen I think for his development he should stay at palace for the better of his career for a year or two, Lloyd Kelly seems like someone klopp wants to push for, I think you'll see youth promoted to fill the quota, Wilson should count as one? or am I wrong there Brewster will be one

I know its a random name Ed but has Bradley Dack not caught the eye for anyone at Blackburn? every time I've watched him play he looked better then everyone around him any interest from Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool looked at him when at Gillingham.}

4.) 18 Jan 2019 08:04:15
David Brooks of Bournemouth counts, as a Welsh man. I'd possibly go after him to replace Lallana but we have to give Harry Wilson the chance first in my opinion.

Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City would be a good signing too to replace Moreno as he can also play at centre back. Possibly Sessegnon as a more lucrative option as he can play Left wing too. I think versatility in the squad players is key to them getting enough game time to keep them happy.

We shouldn't need much more than that. We'll still have Arnold, Gomez, Henderson, Chamberlain, Jones and Brewster. That is 6 HG and you only need 8. A lot of the younger lads don't even count so you'd just leave the squad position empty anyway.

5.) 18 Jan 2019 11:08:54
Jones and Brewster don’t need to be counted in the 25 as they can play as youth players. I would doubt that we will have so many senior players leave with none coming in.

Jack Clarke from Leeds.

7.) 18 Jan 2019 12:22:03
I'd go for Ryan Sessegnon or Kelly at LB/ LW cover, and Wan-Bissaka at RB, I think with the rotation on the right Wan-Bissaka will get enough game time. Gomez should be CB if he can stay injury free. I also really like Brooks, every time I see him play he is brave possibly the best player in Bournemouth at that age. I'd actually be happy with a summer like that. and a Striker like Martinez.

Good post and question!
While there are several nice budding talents around, I am not sure of too many first team home grown players that we could go for. The only one I can think of is Wan Bissakha, but he will be hard to recruit given the interest in him and Palace's reluctance to sell.

I don't know of too many English players outside the top 6 teams that we would want to bring in. Maybe Sessegnon if Fulham were to take the drop this season maybe?

I also wanted to know who you'd go for ED as I have no idea about who would be a decent signing, simply don't have enough time to keep my eye on the football world. Morgan Gibbs White is an interesting shout, haven't really watched much of him but will keep an eye out next times Wolves are on and see how he plays. Cheers Ed.

{Ed0333's Note - Hi Seano I hope all is well mate. Gibbs White is an interesting player for me as coupled with his work rate he has that inane ability to make space which not many players have. I really like him but I was profoundly underwhelmed when we signed Mo Salah and The Ox and look how that worked out. My player radar is slightly off at the moment.

I live in Southampton, and yes their fans are pretty fed up of us poaching their players.
We're not too popular a club down this way.
